-11-year-old Arjun-

You know as a shut-in nerd, I have passed the time through anime, manga and finally fanfiction.

Since I have been reborn in this fantasy world, I can say for sure most of the fanfiction is total bullshit. Independence, the one I took for granted before, is something of rarity to me. I have the freedom to go play at the park in front of my house. That's it.

So, no going to leaky cauldron, no Gringotts and no wand.

No Ridiculous attempts at me trying to be an author advise my father about business. Seriously that bullheaded man will never listen to anyone.

Even the entertainment is not even that developed. Ironically, that is the reason I managed to achieve this much. Simply because I have too much free time.

KNOCK

I heard the door knock along with my mother's voice, "Arjun, come down someone is here to see you."

My best achievement -privacy, Seriously It took my first tantrum in years to afford it.

I went down into the living room, where my family were seated, my aunt and brother playing with the 2 baby cousins, Bunty-5 years and gemini-4 years old .

Seriously there is only 1 year gap between them, give the poor lady rest uncle.

I then saw the visitor.

Facing me was a tall, black-haired woman clad in emerald-green robes. Her face was so stern it could make Eddard Stark ask for pointers. She would not take kindly to disrespect; I did not need any foreknowledge to know that.

Minerva McGonagall was the deputy Headmistress and Head of the Transfiguration department of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; her duties were as numerous as they were varied.

One of them was supervising the introduction of new muggleborn wizards to the wonders of the magical world.

"Good morning, Mr. Prasad. I am Minerva McGonagall, Deputy principal of Hogwarts; a boarding school for gifted children, children like you. "Professor McGonagall introduced herself as she put down the teacup. "You should take a seat, young man."

I did as I was told, keeping a watchful eye on her all the while.

"Gifted? I guess I did well in classes -ranking first, Sports and even won the under-12 karate competition. But to warrant sending a recruiter, much less the deputy headmistress is a bit weird. Please use my given name as everyone here is Prasad."

My reply was laced with curiosity and little suspicion. Though my feelings were something else.

The stern witch was mildly surprised by my reaction, but she had been deputy headmistress for a long time and a teacher for even longer. She has seen her share of children from all classes, natures, and backgrounds.

"Excuse me, I do not know what kind of school you are from. I did not hear Hogwards – "

"Hogwarts sir ends with ts not ds . You see sir, Hogwarts is a school that may be one of the oldest in the world dating back centuries."

She turned towards me and said with utmost care and reassurance.

"You are gifted, Mr. Arjun. Gifted with something most people could only dream about, of that I have no doubt." She started, looking into my eyes to convey her sincerity. "You might have found yourself in strange situations before, seen things you thought impossible."

I made myself stiff in a way visible to everyone. Trying to show my surprise and fear. As a person was prone to do when a stranger revealed their 'secret.'

"Do not fret, young man. As I said, you are gifted; it was not your mind playing tricks, nor was it a coincidence, and it was certainly not a curse." Her voice was firm but kind, leaving no place for arguments.

"What else could it be?" My voice was but a whisper.

"It is magic." She gave me the slightest of smiles before adding the fateful words "And you, Mr. Arjun, are a wizard."

Even after years of using magic in my lonesome, hearing another person tell me that made my emotions jump like a roller coaster.

My family stared at me as my smile must have shown on my face as it was not the reaction of someone who heard such a ridiculous claim, but one of a person who finally had confirmation of what he was. That I was a wizard

"No offense, ma'am, but I cannot believe such ridiculous claims."

And there is my dad. followed by incoherent Nosie made my family. Ahh, Blissful chaos of a joint family.

Before I could stop them and spare myself a headache. She drew her wand. Or did she carry it before? I cannot tell, for she was a redoubtable duelist.

A firm, decisive move saw the tip of her wand glow slightly; magic so concentrated it became visible. The cup of tea was then transformed into a squirrel; or rather a pseudo-sentient magical construct mimicking a cat, not that it was less impressive.

"Is it enough proof, Mr. Prasad?" Her face did not betray the amusement she was no doubt feeling.

"It is more than enough, Professor." I answered, finally breaking my family out of the stupor, myself too. "Now, you should probably tell me more about magic, and Hogwarts too, before I lose my mind trying to understand why this cup is eating all the biscuits."

The rest of the long, enjoyable discussion was where I assaulted the transfiguration teacher with an endless number of questions. Though my large family pitched in here and there.

And no grandma, nobody cares about caste here. And yes mom, I am going.

Everyone only stopped when my baby cousins started crying as the cat turned back into a cup scaring him.

"C-c-cat is gone."

"It is all right honey; Lets go out see the dogs there. Let us play the slides."

"I will buy you chocolates."

There you go he stopped crying, seriously chocolate is the most successful method in stopping children cry.

"Mr. Prasad, here is the Hogwarts acceptance letter."

I watch as my father takes the letter , " If you are ok with his decision to join Hogwarts. Please sign these documents. I will be back for your reply tomorrow."

"Thank you. Miss McGonagall. "

I watch as disappears into the street. Literally.

My father asks me as he hands me the letter, "Do you want to go?"

I read the letter while walking towards the sofa as the rest of the family was looking towards me.

People might wonder why wizards were so obsessed with their school, how they saw it as anything more than boring, but necessary part of their lives before adulthood. Like many things, it is something you need to experience to understand it. No word, no image would be enough to describe what he was feeling. It was simply magic.

"I am going to Hogwarts."
