Darkness…

Darkness is all she sees right now. Until consciousness returned to her. Her mind started to process everything.

Cold. She feels her body lying on something hard and cold; likely the floor. Weiss Schnee rubs her eyes and opens them slowly.

'What is this? What is this place?' she wondered.

The place appears to be enclosed, evidenced by the lack of any natural light shining through, save for some thin windows that shone in a few beams of sunlight, not that it helped her see any better. Perhaps this is some warehouse of some kind… Weiss can barely make out the shapes of a few crates and what looked like machinery. Something about this place just doesn't feel right.

Suddenly, a brief, numb pain flared up on Weiss's forehead… she reached up and rubbed her palm along it, to feel what she guessed was a bruise. How…?

'What happened?' the heiress thought. The last thing she remembered was…

Flashback

"Weiss! I need you to come with me!"

"What? Is something wrong?" she asked, looking up from her scroll.

"I managed to get a lead on the White Fang! But I want to investigate carefully first. Don't want get in trouble with Ms. Goodwitch again."

"Sure, I suppose." Weiss pocketed her scroll, "Just let me notify Ruby and Yang-"

"No!" Blake cut Weiss off. "This will just be you and me. For once I want to carry out this mission stealthily! So no Ruby and god forbid do not drag Yang into this!"

Weiss was about to object, before realizing that the Faunus is correct. Ruby's not exactly a stealth expert, not to mention Crescent Rose might as well be a giant poster that screams "I'm here!" while Yang will probably blow their cover in all about 2 seconds. "Alright, I see your point."

It would be nightfall by the time the two Huntresses-in-training arrived at their destination. They stood before an abandoned warehouse, dimly illuminated by the street lamps and the moon.

Weiss inhaled deeply, mentally preparing herself for another encounter with the Fang; her grip tightening around the handle as she unconsciously spun the cylinder. "Alright, so how do you suppose we approach this, Blake?"

"Like this."

Then suddenly, everything went black.

Present

Weiss's train of thought was interrupted by scraping sounds.

SKSHHH…

SKSHHH…

Weiss scanned the room, looking for the source as her eyes adjusted to the darkness. Eventually, she spotted a figure a few meters away, standing in front of a table.

'Blake!' Weiss thought, breathing a sigh of relief. At least there's one friendly face around. She squinted a bit to make out what was happening. Blake turns out to be sharpening Gambol Shroud on a stone, slowly, almost robotically running the blade along the surface. She held the sword-gun hybrid to the dim light, her amber eyes reflecting on the blade.

"Blake?"

"I was wondering when you'll wake up. Glad that you did." The Faunus in question did not even look in her teammate's direction as she sheathed Gambol Shroud and returned it to her side.

"Blake? What's going on here? Where are we?"

Ignoring Weiss's question, Blake aimlessly walked around the area, her eyes glowing in the darkness. "You remembered that fairy tale Ruby showed us? About how the gods cleansed the planet, so to say, wiping out the original human race? Like they threw a meteor at it. Just, boom! Gone, everything cleansed for the next generation to take over."

"B-blake? You aren't making any sense." Weiss is confused out of her mind. Why's Blake acting so… odd? Not even Ozpin gets like this.

"My point is, Schnee," the venom in Blake's tone was not lost upon Weiss, "Whilst some call it extinction, others call it opportunity. An opportunity for a new species to rise and take the spotlight. I think there's some that would love an opportunity like that."

"Blake, you're freaking me out here! Look, all this White Fang pursuing must not have been good for you. Let's go back to Beacon and have someone look at you."

Blake turns around, her amber eyes looking down at Weiss. "You are unbelievably naive. I'm shocked, Schnee, I really White Fang that I told you about? You are looking at her."

"What…?" Weiss took a while to let that sink in, that bombshell that Blake just dropped on her. "No… no! Blake, this isn't funny! If you dragged me all the way out here to play a prank on me, I will never let you hear the end of it!"

Blake's silence told otherwise, and that is when the realization finally kicked in.

"No, this has to be some mistake!" Weiss cried, her eyes threatening to tear up. "I- I trusted you! I put my life on the line for you, and you have done the same! So when you said you left the White Fang, you- you-!"

"Lied." Blake finished, her tone unnaturally calm, but practically dripping with triumph. "And one you all swallowed hook, line, and sinker. I admit, back at the docks you pissed me off enough to reveal my Faunus trait to the team, I thought the mission was compromised, that I had to abort. Thankfully, you children are so naive to believe I was having an angst episode, so I slipped back in without much of a hitch."

"So back when you ran away, you really meant to report back to your superiors?!" Weiss realized, "Granted, what I said then was inappropriate, but it was quite ridiculous of you to disappear for so long…"

Blake broke out into a sadistic Cheshire Cat grin. "Why don't I introduce myself? For real this time. My name is Blake Belladonna, daughter of Ghira and Kali Belladonna," Blake bowed mockingly, "Future chieftess of Menagerie. I am currently a member of the White Fang, rank: Lieutenant. I was transferred to Vale along with Captain Taurus and fellow Lieutenant Banesaw, in order to establish another branch of the Fang in this city."

All this info dumped straight into Weiss, did something. Her trust, shattered by a friend she believed to be a shining example that people can change for the better. Her heart was torn by the betrayal. But most importantly, her anger brewed over as she now staring down what she hated; a terrorist pretending to be a friend in order to carry out their disgusting beliefs. Weiss glanced at the ground, and realized Myrtenaster is still there; having not been confiscated. She grabbed the rapier and held it in a combat stance, pointed right at the friend turned traitor. Blake, for her part, was eerily calm, not at all looking threatened. Gambol Shroud remained sheathed.

"Before we do this," Weiss tried to keep the fear out of her voice. "I have to ask: why? You said it yourself, Blake. The White Fang was a peaceful activist organization that went down the wrong path. You hated that. That's why you claimed to have left."

Blake nodded slightly, her expression revealing a subtle frown. "I used to think that, you know? I used to be… appalled by Adam's methods. Thought they were too extreme. But then it all changed. All it took was one little incident."

Weiss lowered her weapon slightly, her curiosity getting the best of her. "What happened?"

"It was an everyday mission." Blake recalled. "We raided an SDC mine, with the usual objective. Free all the Faunus, take anything of value, use force if necessary. Everything went smoothly, until it didn't. I was captured by the SDC, taken back to some lab. I thought I was going to be put on trial, thrown to prison if I am lucky. Or be enslaved and be sent to the mines if I am not. It turned out, what the SDC had in store for me was much, much worse."

"I told you already! The SDC does not condone slavery!" Weiss said, jumping to defend her company.

"Shut! Up! For once in your life, Schnee, listen to the truth instead of whatever lies that you are fed!"

Weiss clammed up.

"Like I said, the 'punishment' I was given… it opened my eye, and closed the other. They treated me like how they did the rest of my kind. Like some fucking animal." Blake was growling now. She drew Gambol Shroud slightly, before slamming it back into its sheath. "I was thrown into a cage, out in the courtyard. I was fed a starvation diet. I would be randomly beaten with whatever you can think of. Fists, sticks, tasers, whatever. But they wanted to make sure I never forgot, that to these humans I am not even entitled to my basic rights, they branded me."

Weiss is starting to feel sick. Terrorist or not, no one should be treated like that. "What did they do?" she gulped, fearing the answer.

Blake reached to her forehead and started to scratch, to get a grip on something. Weiss couldn't make out the details in the darkness, and deep down she preferred it that way. Blake finally seemed to have gotten her hands on something, and pulled down. Taking… something off. She threw whatever she had in her hand behind her and turned to Weiss. "The SDC poured acid onto my face."

Myrtenaster was dropped to the ground with a clang as Weiss brought her hands to her mouth as she felt her dinner nearly expelling out her mouth. Blake's face, her true face, looked something straight out of a horror movie. Blake's right eye was gone, along with her eyelids. So much skin was destroyed that Weiss swore she could see the bleached, white bone of the Faunus's eye socket. Her nose was missing as well, leaving behind only a pair of exposed nasal cavities. Part of Blake's upper lip is also melted off, while her cheek has a hole in it about an inch in diameter, giving a very clear view of her teeth. All this without mentioning the horrifically burned and scarred skin all over the right side of her face.

"Oh my gods… Blake, I'm sorry."

"I don't need your pity, Schnee." Blake spat. "That day is when I finally accepted the fact that humanity is beyond saving. That it must take a revolution to finally bring about change."

Weiss has no response, still recovering from the horror she has just been exposed to.

"When I joined the White Fang, there was so much jubilation amongst my people. The princess of Menagerie, personally stepping in to help her people. I was meant to bring change. Faunus and humans alike would look at the White Fang and see hope, to see the light." Blake somberly closed her eyes as she mumbled out. Her expression then changed to anger as she glared at Weiss. "But now they will look at me in horror, because of you!"

"I had no knowledge of this, Blake! I had nothing to do with this!" Weiss picked up Myrtenaster and pointed it at her former teammate, hands trembling. "Stop putting the blame on me for what I did not do!"

"Do not pretend like your hands are clean. We are all killers. It's just that I am brave enough to accept that. I'm willing to dirty my hands for the sake of our new mission."

"Huh? What mission?" Weiss asked.

"Peace in our time."

"Peace? Peace?!" Weiss shrieked. "You call this peace?! Your attack on Vale has left hundreds dead! Every incident carried out by the White Fang in the last few years has left nothing but bodies in their wake. The White Fang's so-called quest for peace has inflicted substantial suffering upon thousands."

"Suffering is a temporary yet necessary sacrifice." Blake appeared completely unmoved by Weiss's outburst. "There is but only one path to peace. Humanity and Faunus-kind are doomed to fight another Great War. I intend to prevent this by cutting off the source of the violence. The solution is humanity's extinction!-"

BANG!

A gunshot reverberated throughout the empty warehouse. Blake looked down to see a patch of blood rapidly spreading over her clothes. She looked incredulously at Weiss, who is now holding a smoking Myrtenaster. "Shut. Up."

Swift as lighting, Gambol Shroud flashed out of its sheath and slammed into Myrtenaster before Weiss had a chance to react. The rapier flew out of the rookie Huntress's hand and clattered onto the ground as Weiss fell onto her butt. Blake lowered her blade, pointing it at Weiss. She looked down at her wound and wiped off some blood, examining it curiously, as if she didn't just have a 44 caliber slug buried into her torso.

"Hmph. You managed to catch me off guard and wound me. I give you props for that." Blake said nonchalantly. She sheathed Gambol Shroud and smiled. "But you know what you humans said. 'Whatever doesn't kill me-"

Blake was suddenly interrupted as a hand shot out of the darkness, grabbing her head. Followed by the distinct sound of a sword being drawn, and a blade flashed, decapitating Blake. Before Weiss can even scream, the blade flashes again, bisecting Blake across the belly.

"AAAAGGGHHH!" Weiss screamed as the now headless and bisected corpse fell to the ground, with organs and viscera spilling into a bloody pool on the cold, warehouse floor.

"Just makes me stronger." From the shadows, a second Blake emerged, holding the now severed head of the first, and a bloody Gambol Shroud. The bullet wound she received earlier was gone. She drops the head in front of a terrified Weiss. Weiss crawls backwards, desperate to create distance between herself and her mad teammate. And the Faunus corpse on the floor.

"H-how are you still a-alive?!"

Blake chuckles. "I've fed you and the team a lot of lies, Weiss. To put simply, my true capabilities are not within your current understanding." She grabbed the handle of a door; turns out Weiss has crawled into a storage closet, a cell.

"You won't get away with this, Blake!" Weiss snarled, casting a hateful glare at the traitor. "Ruby, Yang, and all of Beacon will hunt you down! You and the White Fang won't win. Time will tell!"

Blake took one last look over her shoulder as she slid the door shut. "Time has already told, Ms. Schnee. You just didn't like what it had to say. I believe there will be peace in our time."

The door slammed shut and locked with a click; and all Weiss could see was darkness.

Author's Notes: So, how many of y'all catch the reference to Age of Ultron? This one-shot came as a shower thought and I couldn't resist writing it down. As for why Penny wasn't used, kinda a low hanging fruit. Please give constructive criticism, and shoot me ideas if you have em! My ears are open. Tata!
