It had been a few weeks since Luz and her friends had escaped the Boiling Isles following the Collectors defeat of Belos. Luz had resettled into her everyday routine. Amity, Willow, Gus and Hunter had mostly settled into life in the Human realm. Camilia had Adjusted to having a house full of young kids. And Vee had friends from her own realm to connect with. With School starting up for Luz it meant she had less time for her friends and Amity. The time they did have had been mostly spent trying to figure out how to
open a new portal to the demon realm. Luz was getting ready for school when she was looking for her wallet. "Mom! Have you seen my wallet?''Luz said. " No mija I have not seen your wallet where was the last place you had it". Camilla replied.``The last place I had it was in the Grudgby jacket I got from Eda." Luz said.``Is it a grayish brown letterman jacket with cream white sleeves?" Camila asked." Yes that is it, have you seen it?" Luz asked. "I put it in the wash, it smelled putrid." Camilla replied. "What!" Luz
said and she ran as if she was possessed to the Laundry room pushing anyone out of her way. Reaching the laundry room she slammed the off button on the washing machine and began digging her way through the damp clothes to find the jacket. After several minutes of searching she found it, digging through the pockets she found her Good witch Azura wallet( Because of course that is the wallet Luz owns) slightly damp but overall fine. Putting the wallet down for a second she carefully put all the clothes back into the
washing machine, cleaned up any soap on the floor and restarted the machine. Once that was done Luz went to go grab her wallet but her hands now coated with laundry detergent were slippery and she dropped the wallet opening it to reveal a picture. The picture was that of Luz and Amity On a roof of the owl house staring at the stars. Luz smiled then had a flashback….
A Few Weeks Earlier….
"I'm gonna take you out when this is all over Amity i monsters, no mysteries, no deadly duels. It's Gonna be the most Mundane Slice of life date ever and it will be awesome."
"Oh no i forgot about the date!" Luz thought to herself. She had been so caught up with school and recreating the titan portal she had forgotten about her promise. It was at that moment Camilla yelled "Luz hurry up you're gonna miss the bus." And with that Luz grabbed her wallet and her backpack and headed for the door shouting"Bye Mom love you" as she left the front door.
Hours later…..
Luz was scribbling down ideas for a first date in notebooks in the middle of history class. "Arcade no too far away, coffee no too cliche, how about…." she said until she was interrupted by her teacher" Ms. Noceda what is the Gleiwitz incident?" "Um what were we talking about again?" Luz said as she tried her best not to agitate her teacher. " World war ll, the invasion of Poland to be specific." "I'm not sure." Luz replied. " The Gleiwitz incident was a false flag operation orchestrated by the SS to give Hitler an excuse to invade Poland. You should spend less time scribbling and more time paying attention. This will be on next week's test." and before he could get another word out
the bell rang and the day was over. "Ok class friday we discuss the winter war and its impact on World War ll." but nobody paid any attention as these teens were just desperate to get out of his class. Luz headed to her locker to grab her thing and head out where her mom would pick her up. She had just finished packing up her stuff when suddenly Britney, the head of the cheerleader squad, walked up to her locker. "Oh hey weirdo I heard you were sent to a normie camp, but it looks like you were a lost
cause." She said laughing along with her click of the cheerleader squad. Luz tried to get away but the cheer squad blocked her path. "Why won't you leave me alone." Luz said as two girls held her down. "Because weirdos like you need to be reminded where you belong in the gutter." Britney said as she dug out Luz's copy of the good witch azura 5. " Don't touch that that's a 1st print it cost me 2 years worth of allowances." Luz said desperately trying to break free of the girls grasp but to no avail. It was then Britney
pulled lipstick out of her purse and Luz realized what she was gonna do and she screamed. It was at this moment the english teacher walked by shouting. "What the hell is going on here!" At that moment the cheer squad let Luz go and bolted. " It won't Do you any good running. I can look you up. And ms. Johnson attempted to deface another student property, especially a fine piece of literature ,to the principal's office at once." The teacher replied. "But sir." Britney said " At once!" The teacher yelled and like that
Britney put the book down and began the slow march to the principal's office. The teacher then picked up the book and remarked" A first print good Witch Azura book 5. Personally book 3 is my favorite." He said handing the book back to Luz. " I haven't seen you around here before are you a new teacher." Luz asked. " Yes I'm Mr. Hendrickson,but you can call me Tom. You're in my English class. I've heard you're quite the creative student when it comes to writing." He said as Luz put the book back in her backpack. "Yes, it's one of my dreams to pursue a writing career." Luz said wiping dust off her pants " I'd like to stay and chat but now I've got to call my mom and tell
her I missed the bus." Luz said, reaching out for her phone."Ok then have a good day see you in class tomorrow." Mr. Hendrickson said as he walked away and with that Luz made her way outside….
30 minutes later…..
Luz was sitting in the car as Camilia drove home. " Mija you can't let these girls push you around." Camilia said as they drove home. "Ok Mamá." Luz said, sounding completely uninterested. "Mija what's the matter?" Camilia said.``Well mom I promised Amity we would go on our 1st date and I can't figure out where to take her. Do you have any ideas?" Luz asked."Well mija if you want it to take her out it should be some place that holds a special meaning to you" Camilia said as they pulled up to the traffic
light Camilia noticed a familiar restaurant reopening. "Hey Luz look, Arnie's is reopening after the fire.I remember your father taking you there all the time as a kid." Camilia said and it was then as she pulled away from the green light luz screamed "THAT'S IT!" causing her mother to jerk the car to a quick stop."Mija I've told you not to yell when I'm driving unless it's an emergency." Camilia said looking a little annoyed . "Sorry Mom,but that's it, I'll take Amity there." Luz said and with that the two drove home…
Meanwhile….
Amity Blight was in the midst of a smash bros tournament with Vee, Hunter and Willow. They played in a set of 2 her and Vee vs Willow and Hunter. She still hasn't gotten used to the games of the human realm. Thankfully Vee had and she was able to make short work of Willow and Hunter. "Red Team wins!" The announcer shouted. "Take that, that's 3 wins for me and Vee and 0 for you" Amity said, high fiving Vee."Well of course she has been playing the game for months lets see you win a match without her."
Hunter said, tossing his controller aside." Hey guys how about we switch it up. Anyone up for a game of Mario kart." Vee said. "Nah, we played that yesterday," said Gus." We could watch something on a streaming app." Said Willow."Nah we watched all the good stuff already. All that's left are documentaries about the human realm." Amity said. It was at this moment Camilia and Luz walked through the front door. "Alright we're back and we brought pizza." Luz said, putting down on the kitchen countertop. "Wait, I
thought you couldn't eat dairy." Gus said as he made his way to the kitchen. "I can't, unless I take medication to allow me to digest dairy, which currently rests in the medicine cabinet." Luz said as she made her way to the bathroom. It was then that Camilia walked in carrying some shopping bags. "Okay I've got sprite, coca cola, root beer and dr pepper cups in the cabinet and ice in the freezer." she said as she poured her a glass of root beer and went in for a slice. The kids went in like a feeding frenzy
grabbing a slice and some soda. Luz came down to find they had already gone through one box and went to grab herself a slice before it was all gone. Taking a slice and some Dr. Pepper, she went to ask Hunter"Any luck on the portal today?" Hunter looked at her and shook his head "Nothing we tried with the palismans again, looked around the old house for any magic items that could help us but we couldn't find a thing. So after 2 hours we called it a day, took some Spanish classes on this human learning device, and
then played some of your human games on this other device." Hunter said before digging into his pizza. "Don't worry guys, I swear to Titan that we will get you guys back and we will defeat the collector." Luz said as a blob of cheese on her pizza fell to the floor. She quickly went to work on her pizza and looked over at Amity. Her cotton candied haired goddess was enjoying some sprite and a slice when Luz decided to walk over to her. "Amity mind if I ask you something in private." Luz said as the young witch
blushed at the possibility of the question." So what is it you want to ask me Luz?" Amity said looking at Luz who was clearly flustered " Well Amity remember the promise i made to you on the day of unity." Luz said."What promise…wait I remember." Amity said as her face began to turn red." Amity Blight, will you go on a date with me?" Luz said to which Amity screamed "Yes a million times yes." After which she pulled in Luz for a kiss. Unbeknownst to them their friend had been eavesdropping and all began to
applaud catching them off guard. "Okay Luz where are we going?" Amity asked. "It's a surprise, but meet me after school. We will go for a walk through town then we will stop for a bite to eat at a place special to me." Luz said to which Amity replied "I don't know where we're going but as long as you are there I know I will love it." And with that the two went back to finishing their dinner…
The next day…..
Luz was staring down the clock in history class when the teacher looked at Luz and said "Ok Ms. Noceda what did we learn about the winter war?" Luz looked at him and said the only thing she could think of "Don't mess with Finland." The teacher was stunned that Luz was actually paying attention and said " Yes, never underestimate a people's willingness to defend themselves against foreign aggression." It was at this moment the bell rang and the class emptied and before she knew it Luz had put her stuff away and made outside by the flagpole patiently waiting for Amity to show up. It was at this time that Britney and her Cheer squad appeared. "Well if it isn't the schools #1
weirdo." she said " What do you want Britney?" Luz asked, giving the expression she didn't care. " I wanted to thank you for the trip to the principal office yesterday." she said sarcastically. " You did that to yourself now if you don't mind I'm waiting for my girlfriend." Luz said as she checked the weather report. "Yeah right the weirdo has a girlfriend I'll believe it when i see it." Britney said as she signaled her cheer squad to surround Luz. " What are you doing?" Luz asked "Oh, think of this as payback for yesterday and
too bad for you no teacher is around to save you." Britney replied as the cheer squad grabbed her and began to bring her towards a large fountain outside of the school. " You know, since the camp couldn't get the weirdo out of you, maybe a dip in the fountain might do the trick. Or maybe not but what do I care. " Britney said as Luz was desperate to break free of the cheer squad grasp but to no avail. It was then that a pile of purple sludge smacked Britney in her face sending the cheerleader captain falling to the
ground "ew its in my hair who threw that?" she said looking around at the crowd that had been paying attention to the altercation. It was then a familiar voice shouted"That would be me." and all looked at this fair skinned girl with golden eyes and purple hair walking through the crowd. They were stunned at this beauty. Several students both boys and girls, fixated on this kid none had seen before. " Get your hands off my Luz!" She said to which the cheer squad let her go and Luz ran up to her screaming" Sweet
potato!" as the two went in for a hug they were interrupted by a pissed Britney shouting." Just who do you think you are throwing this purple slime in my hair and what are you doing hugging the weirdo." " For your information this weirdo happens to be my girlfriend." Amitt said holding Luz's hand"Ew you actually date this weirdo, good luck making real friends with this dead weight dragging you down." Britney said as she and her cheer squad laughed. It was at this moment Amity channeled the former mean girl
within herself and shouted" look I could care less about your worthless and meaningless life, but if you talk crap about Luz one more time getting purple slime in your hair will be the least of your worries." Amity said as she took Luz's hand and walked away. "Hey get back here we aren't done." Britney said before another ball of purple slime hit her face sending her into the fountain the crowd that had formed laughed as her cheer squad picked her up, but by then the two were long gone….
.. Luz and Amity were making their way through town chatting and laughing. "I can't believe you knocked her into the fountain." Luz said as the two passed by a pop up halloween store. "She totally deserved it. Luz why don't you stand up to them." Amity said as they passed Robin's Roast Café. "It's not so simple when you are outnumbered 6 to 1 and have no magic." Luz said as they made their way through town. " So Luz where are we heading?" Amity said as they kept walking down the street."Well here we
are." Luz said as they stood outside of a restaurant. It had a chrome plated roof. On the front there was a neon sign spelling out "Arnies, Burgers , Fries, Shakes". "My dad used to take me here when I was young. It always brought me happy memories, so I thought we could make some new memories together." Luz said as she and Amity made their way in. The interior was that of your typical retro 50s eatery. Black and white checkered floors, red vinyl booths, a counter with about a dozen stools,the wall was
decorated with celebrities and events from the 1950s and an old jukebox playing oldies from the 50s and early 60s. The place was not too busy but there were patrons in a few seats enjoying their meals. It was then a waitress walked up and asked"Welcome to Arnies, how many seats?" to which Luz replied "Just 2." The waitress led them to a nice booth with a window view. The waitress handed them 2 menus and asked" Can I get you any drinks?" to which Amity replied "Just water for now." and with that the two
of them were alone. "So Luz what should i get?" Amity asked as she looked at the countless options none of which she had ever heard of."Well I'm gonna get a cheeseburger, would you like one as well?" Luz said as she put down the menu."What's a cheeseburger?" Amity said. " You don't know what a cheeseburger is. Don't worry, I think I know what my super awesome girlfriend will like." Luz said as she grabbed Amity's hand causing both to blush. It was at this moment the waitress returned and asked " Okay what
will you have?" "We will both have a cheeseburger, no pickles. I'll have a side of onion rings and she will have some fries. For beverages coke will be fine." Luz said as she handed the waitress the menu. "How do you want the burgers?" she asked as she wrote down the order." Medium well will be fine." Luz said and with that the waitress was off."So how have you handled the adjustment?" Luz asked. "You know it hasn't been so bad. I mean it took a couple of days to not smash your alarm clocks and not worry
about some demon snatching me when I wasn't looking but the peace and quiet has been nice." Amity said as she took a sip of water. "Do you think your family is safe?" Luz said as she also had a sip of water." Honestly I'm not sure. Part of me hopes they are safe but the other part is just scared that the worst has happened." Amity said as tears began to form in her eyes. "Amity you can't think like that. I have a feeling your family will be alright." Luz said and it was at that moment the waitress came and handed
them their meals."Ok, that's 2 cheeseburgers, fries,onion rings and 2 cokes." The waitress said, handing them their meals."Thank you." They both said and with that the two of them grabbed their burgers and began to eat. Amity was quick to fall in love with cheeseburgers as the aroma, the flavor, the juiciness of the meat was unlike anything she had had in the boiling isles. As they ate their meals the sound of oldies music filled the restaurant giving it a wonderful ambiance. Within no time the two had finished their
meal and the waitress came back asking"Would either of you like to have dessert?" Luz didn't even need to look at the menu; she quickly responded with " We will Split a strawberry Milkshake." and with that the waitress left and took the empty plates and made her way back to the kitchen. "So my cotton candy haired goddess,are you having a good time?" Luz asked Amity. "Luz, anytime I spend with you is a good time. I am excited to try this milkshake." Amity said as the waitress brought over the strawberry
milkshake and 2 straws."Here you go. Enjoy the shake you two lovebirds." The waitress said, causing the two to blush."You two were not subtle. The eyes gave it away. Don't worry I have 0 issues with it, you be you." and with that she walked away. Amity was quick to take a sip and when the sweet liquid hit her tastebuds she was mesmerized at
the flavor of the beverage. As the two began to make quick work of the beverage the jukebox came to life. As the melody filled their ears the two were locked into the moment. The rest of the world and its issues were gone if but for a moment and all that existed was the two of them, the milkshake and the song. As they enjoyed the milkshake the chorus was ingrained into their brains.

So locked in were the two of them at the moment that they were unable to notice a familiar witch sneaking up on them with a camera. It was not until they heard the 1st flash that they turned to see Gus holding a camera. "Gus, what in titans name are you doing here?" Luz said as Amity was trying to hide her blush."Oh I lost a bet to see which one of us had to snap a pic of you two lovebirds for the scrapbook. By the way it was not my idea it was Hunters." Gus said as he quickly made his way out of the
establishment. Amity clearly pissed thought to herself" I'm so gonna get Hunter for this" it was at that moment Luz grabbed her hand telling her " Forget about that lets just enjoy this moment" and the two went back to their milkshake forgetting about the Gus incident and for those few moments all was well in the world.
