Summary: A quiet afternoon, leaving work on time and returning home where his family was waiting for him, that was all Sasuke had expected from the day. But oh, he had been too ambitious, and had underestimated Naruto's unpredictable mind once again.
Notes: This fic is set in the "Mrs. Uchiha" universe, approximately two years after the events in that story. However, I don't think it's necessary to read the previous one to enjoy this small one-shot.

"Well, what do you think?"
Naruto inspected his reflection in the mirror with full attention, turning his face from side to side to better appreciate his hair's new look.
He had made an appointment to get a haircut as usual, but this time he had decided to go for more than just a simple trim. He grinned with delight at Suigetsu, his hairdresser, admiring his work. Well, to be exact, Suigetsu had been Sasuke's hairdresser first, and somewhat of a friend since their college days, although he had never really asked his husband how exactly they had met.
"It looks amazing, y'know" Naruto said animatedly, running his fingers through his locks to feel the softness of them and stir them a little.
"Of course it does," Suigetsu replied proudly, to which Naruto simply rolled his eyes and shook his head, amused. "You should record Sasuke's reaction when he sees you."
Naruto let out a laugh and turned to look at him with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
"Maybe I will," he stood up, shaking off his clothes a bit and admiring his new appearance again.
It was the first time he had thought of doing something so drastic with his hair, he had always kept the same cut and style since he was a kid. But boy, did he like the change. He couldn't wait to finally give Sasuke a surprise without Sasuke knowing about it beforehand, as had happened to him recently when he found out for the second time that he was pregnant, and again, Sasuke already knew long before he did, the bastard.
"Well, thank you, Suigetsu. By the way, put what I owe you on Sasuke's bill."
The white-haired man raised an eyebrow in amusement at the request, to which Naruto shrugged before winking at him.
"He owes me one."
"Okay, then," the hairdresser replied, beginning to sweep the blond locks of hair off the floor. "By the way, tell him to make an appointment soon. I saw him the other day at the supermarket, his hair is so long he already looks like a hippie."
Naruto chuckled. Sasuke's hair barely reached a little below his chin, but it was indeed longer than he was used to, long enough that the strands fell smoothly over the back of his neck instead of rising up like a duckbutt.
"Will do," he assured him.
Ready to leave and go on with his day, he headed towards the sofa in the waiting room, where a little boy with black eyes and hair of the same color was taking a nice nap. He could have left him at his parents' house, but Hiro had insisted on accompanying him, and had even taken advantage of the moment to get his hair trimmed a bit, as his bangs were starting to bother his eyes. Of course, trimming the boy's hair was quick, and after showing off for a while to the other workers, Hiro had fallen asleep on the most comfortable sofa in the establishment.
Naruto felt a little guilty for having to wake him up, but it was time to leave the place. He could take another nap later.
"Hey, Hiro," he shook him a little, to which the boy groaned and turned around, turning his back on him. "Come on, it's time to go. Don't you want to show daddy your new haircut?"
As if by magic, the boy opened his beautiful black eyes and sat up all of a sudden.
"I do!" he beamed excitedly and then jumped back in shock when he noticed Naruto's new look. "Woah! You look just like my papa!"
"What do you mean, I look like papa? Doesn't my own baby recognize me anymore?" he pouted, grabbing his son under his armpits to lift him up into the air, causing the boy to shout in surprise before he held him to his chest.
Hiro furrowed his eyebrows and narrowed his eyes, inspecting him closely, especially his hair. He took a lock of it in his little hands and twirled it around a bit, as if to make sure it was real hair and not some sort of wig.
"Pretty…" he murmured in wonder.
"You like it?" Naruto's eyes sparkled when he heard that.
"How could he not like it? I did it," Suigetsu spoke proudly, to which a giggle was heard coming from one of his coworkers.
Naruto rolled his eyes.
"How humble."
"Humble!" repeated Hiro cheerfully.
Naruto took his leave with a promise to instigate Sasuke to book an appointment, although, if he was honest, he didn't think his husband would do much more than just roll his eyes or stare at him.
"Good afternoon, everyone!" Naruto greeted cheerfully, with Hiro in his arms, as he entered the office where he had worked for about half a year.
Since being hired temporarily to consult on a project, he had gotten into the habit of stopping by to say hello to his friends and former co-workers at least once a month, depending on what his free time allowed between caring for a toddler and working from home.
Normally, he was greeted with encouragement and warmth, and every now and then with a hug or two, but on this occasion, time seemed to freeze inside the office.
Sakura dropped her chin to the ground, Ino gasped and covered her mouth a second later, Shikamaru's eyes flew out of his sockets, an expression that looked quite comical on his face, and Kiba dropped the piece of toast with jam he was eating, causing it to fall into his coffee cup and splatter some of the papers around him.
"Aftewnoon!" repeated Hiro, raising his arms in greeting, his interruption bringing the others out of the stupor into which they had fallen.
"Holy peanuts... Did you dye your hair?" Sakura asked, although the answer was quite obvious. Naruto's shiny hair, which used to be blond, left no room for doubt.
"I sure did," he confirmed proudly. "And Hiro also got a little trim."
"Awn, what a cutie," Ino reached out delightedly to snatch the child from his arms and lift him into the air, proceeding to fill his face with kisses.
"Ino, nooo," Hiro complained, but his loud laughter showed that he actually loved the blonde's attention.
"And why the sudden change of image?" Shikamaru's voice spoke, his tone somewhat confused.
Naruto just shrugged.
"I've never dyed it before, I was curious. Besides, I thought I could do with a change of style. What do you think?"
"Well... To tell you the truth, it does look good on you. It's kind of an unusual color, though. I don't think I know anyone who has that shade of hair," Sakura commented, analyzing it carefully.
"Your hair is the weird one, are you sure you don't dye it?" Kiba teased, to which she threw a crumpled ball of paper in response. "Yeah, yeah. What about you, Naruto? You are a natural blond, aren't you?"
The Uzumaki rolled his eyes, deciding to ignore the question when he had clearly just mentioned that it was the first time he had dyed his hair. Besides, Kiba loved teasing, he was no doubt amused about the situation.
"Well, blond, not anymore," Ino reminded him. "You make me a little envious, I couldn't look that good in that color." Ino said jokingly. If she decided to change her hair color, she would probably choose less intense tones, maybe pastel colors.
The former blond let out a chuckle and, just as he was about to pull up a chair to sit down and be more comfortable, the sound of an object falling to the floor and breaking into a thousand pieces startled them all and interrupted the atmosphere of the place.
There, in the doorway, stood Sasuke Uchiha, his coffee cup destroyed with liquid spilling all over the floor, his face paler than usual and his expression utterly dismayed.
Sasuke didn't even react when he began to hear more noise than usual in the office shared by his employees. He already knew that this unusual behavior had only one explanation, so he didn't rush to finish making his coffee.
He had just left a very important meeting and all he wanted was to finish his work calmly for the rest of the day. Of course, with Naruto there, "calm" was the least he could have in his near future, but at least he would finish his coffee quietly in his office.
Or so he thought, until he passed by the room where the others were gathered and took an involuntary glance only to find that her husband was indeed the cause of the ruckus, and what he saw made him petrified and soon, without him noticing, the cup in his hands slipped from his fingers until it ended up shattered at his feet.
But Sasuke couldn't even register that his delicious black, sugar-free coffee had just been wasted, because all his attention was absorbed by...
Red.
A bright, intense scarlet, resembling a fire, looking almost vivid, especially in the tousled locks of hair on the head to which they now belonged.
"Daddy!" Hiro shouted happily at the sight of him, squirming in Ino's arms so that she would let go and run to where Sasuke was.
"Watch out!" Naruto tried to hold him so he wouldn't walk on the broken ceramic pieces, but he wasn't fast enough. Sasuke, on the other hand, did react to the shout and grabbed his son in his arms just before he could step on the coffee and slip, or even hurt himself on the pieces of the cup. "Whew, that was close, huh, Sasuke?" he said relieved, but also a bit amused.
"What the hell did you do to your hair?"
"Well, hello to you too."
Ino covered her mouth to hide her urge to laugh at the scene they were witnessing. They may have, as a group, still been somewhat afraid of Uchiha, but after seeing him interact with Naruto so many times, they had discovered a side of him that was previously unknown to them. It was funny to see Naruto do things on purpose just to irritate him, but so far none of them had resulted in a reaction like this from their boss.
"Papa and I went to Sui," Hiro replied animatedly, stretching the ends of his hair in Sasuke's direction as if to emphasize his point and show him that his hair was different too.
Sasuke looked for a second at his son's excited little eyes, then at Naruto, then at the three pairs of curious eyes set on them, and finally sighed loudly, hiding his face with his hand and turning around to leave the place with Hiro in his arms.
Perhaps he had been overly ambitious in thinking he would have a quiet afternoon.
"I love how every time you come in, this office turns into a scene from a soap opera," Kiba commented humorously, leaning back in his chair with his arms behind his head. "I should start writing a script about this, I'm sure I'll become a millionaire."
"I'd charge you royalties," Naruto joked and then looked at the mess on the floor with resignation. "Well, I guess I'll have to clean this up."
"No, don't worry, I'll clean it," Ino hastened to say.
Naruto chuckled.
"Sasuke should clean it up, but seeing as he's in a bad mood and I'm here…" he shrugged and went out to get a mop and a dustpan. When he returned, he commented more cheerfully, "I have to clean up my two babies' messes."
Shikamaru shook his head amusedly while Kiba let out a laugh.
"I always thought it would be Uchiha the one to clean up your messes," Sakura laughed.
"Your comment offends me," the blond man spoke as he finished picking up the pieces of pottery from the floor.
Sure, Naruto did tend to make the most disasters between them, and Sasuke usually ended up fixing almost all of them, but Sakura didn't have to know that. From food stains that for some reason ended up on the ceiling when he was trying to make a new recipe, to the time he accidentally broke the bathroom plumbing in an attempt to fix it himself and avoid the expense of calling the plumber.
You know, the usual.
When the floor was as good as new, Naruto left the shared office promising to arrange a day to go out for lunch together, and made his way to his husband's office, opening the door without knocking and smiling at the sight of Hiro sitting at the desk, waving his legs up and down as Sasuke listened to him prattle on about his day.
Watching Sasuke give Hiro his undivided attention despite the weariness on his face was a scene that always warmed his heart. His alpha might have a bad temper from time to time, or be too strict about certain things, but he was a patient and loving father. He rubbed his belly, still flat, imagining Sasuke with their next baby and his smile widened.
Closing the door behind him, he approached his family, ignoring Sasuke's unfriendly look.
"Oh, come on. Stop looking at me like that, don't you like my new style?"
Rolling his eyes, the dark-haired man replied: "What are you going to do next, shave your eyebrows and tattoo the kanji of love on your forehead?"
"Now you think I look like Gaara?"
Gaara was a good friend of his that he had known since high school. Sasuke had never liked him and to tell the truth, from Gaara's reactions, you could tell the feeling was mutual, but they tolerated each other only because of Naruto. Gaara had even confessed to him once, but back then he and Sasuke already had something like an unofficial relationship, the kind where you know there's something going on but neither party has spoken directly about it, so he told him that he couldn't reciprocate.
Despite the years that had passed, Gaara was still one of his closest friends, but his relationship with Sasuke seemed to be unable to evolve. Perhaps it was because their personalities were somewhat similar in a way that they couldn't get along.
"Papa pwetty, isn't he, daddy?"
Sasuke stood silently watching his son, who was looking at him expectantly, so Naruto leaned his hip against the desk and folded his arms over his chest looking smugly at him, silently daring him to answer Hiro.
"Yes, Hiro," he gave up, patting his son on the head a couple of times. "Your papa is the prettiest, after you."
The little boy laughed delightedly as his father tickled his tummy.
Drying his hair with a clean towel, Naruto stepped out of the shower humming a song made up on the spot. When he finished, he looked at his tousled, damp hair in the mirror and smiled, again pleased with his new look.
He had always been curious about how he'd look like if he had inherited his mother's hair, and thanks to Suigetsu, he now had an idea of what red would look like instead of his natural blonde. Though of course, his hair wasn't straight and didn't fall down gracefully like his mother's, but remained unruly and spiky, like his father's, despite having changed the color. Suigetsu had offered to straighten it as well, but Naruto felt that his hair represented part of his personality, and preferred it with its natural texture.
Wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist, Naruto left the bathroom and went into his room, heading to the closet to find something comfortable to sleep in. He rummaged through his clothes a bit until he pulled out some orange shorts that came down to the beginning of his knee, and so he ditched the towel to put on his underwear and then the shorts.
He let out a sigh of contentment as he plopped down on the bed, feeling it fluffy and soft, and it wasn't more than a couple of minutes before Sasuke came in as well, covering his mouth with his hand to hide a yawn, also wearing shorts, only black instead of orange like his, and a white t-shirt.
"Hiro's already asleep," he informed him, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Hmm... He got sleepy earlier than usual," Naruto muttered with his eyes closed.
Fingers tugging at his hair made him blink and slap the hand that owned them away.
"You are a total menace," Sasuke told him.
"Oh, come on, admit that you like my new style."
"Hn."
Perhaps Sasuke was too proud to admit it, though Naruto believed he most likely didn't want to indulge him by saying the words aloud just because of the embarrassment he'd put him through during the afternoon. However, the kiss he received a few moments later made it clear to him that Sasuke didn't mind his new appearance at all.
"Hey," Naruto called him between kisses, gladly receiving the weight of the alpha's body on him. "Do you think redheads are as good in bed as blonds? Ouch!" he cried out when he felt a pinch on his hip, frowning at the raven man's amused look.
"Why don't we find out?"

EXTRA SCENE:
The call of a familiar voice and the sound of various things falling to the ground alerted him of his omega's arrival.
Petrified from the doorway and with his face completely disfigured by horror in a rather comical manner, Naruto stared right at him.
Raising an eyebrow nonchalantly, Sasuke glanced back at him from the couch, ignoring the mess of shopping scattered across the floor.
"W-W-W-What the hell happened to you?!" a horrified Naruto shouted, striding over to shake him by the shoulders.
Playing dumb, Sasuke stepped back a little and stood up.
"What do you mean?"
"What do you mean, what do I mean? Your hair!" the blue-eyed man exclaimed, scandalized.
"Oh, well. Since Suigetsu very honestly made the comment that I was starting to look like a hippie, I thought that the length was actually starting to make me uncomfortable." he explained and then shrugged.
"And that's why you shaved your whole head?!"
"Well, I think I needed a change of style. Why? Don't you like it?"
Naruto opened and closed his mouth repeatedly, feeling unable to answer the question. Sasuke rejoiced in watching his internal conflict, enjoying his revenge.
"It looks... good," Naruto said at last, though no one would have believed his blatant lie.
"That's good, because I think I'll leave it like this from now on. So much hair was already getting in the way."
"What?!" Naruto shrieked, horrified, before starting to shake him again. "No, Sasuke! Don't stay bald! I promise I won't call you duck butt or cockatoo head anymore, but don't stay like that! What will your parents think? And Hiro? Then he'll want to shave himself to look like you, too!"
"I thought you said there was no way I couldn't look attractive?"
Naruto opened and closed his mouth again, frowning and pouting as he noticed the sneer in his husband's black eyes.
"You're fucking with me, aren't you?"
Sasuke did not respond, but merely smirked.
"Did you shave your whole head just to play a joke on me?"
"Pff. Of course not, it's a wig."
"How can it be a wig if it has no hair?"
"A bald wig."
With furrowed brows, Naruto began to inspect his head with his hands until he was convinced that it was indeed just a fake bald.
"You're a teme."
"And you, a dobe," he replied, cupping his chin to give him a kiss on the cheek, to which Naruto just scoffed and crossed his arms, offended.
"Go take that nasty thing off."
With an uncharacteristic laugh from him, Sasuke pinched his nose, causing the omega to puff out his cheeks, and then headed for the bathroom, willing to do as he said just this once.

N/A: Well, now this is up to date with the original version haha.
This idea came up after seeing a Naruto post with Kushina's hair color hehehehehe I don't know why I thought of this universe to develop the idea, but well, at least it managed to motivate me to write a little after months without doing it.
I'll try to work a bit more on getting out more English fics.
:D
