Hey Ya'll! This is my first story, so i would really Appreciate reviews on what i could do to make it better, thank you! Hope you Enjoy!
Annabeth didn't know where the hell she was going in life.
She got top grades. She loved extracurricular clubs, she did lots of volunteer work, she took care of her two (about to be three) younger siblings; all the things a bright future looked for. But Annabeth didn't see herself living her future. She spent each day numb, straining to get home into her bed to sleep- only to wake up in the morning again for another long day. She hated every bit of herself and count find any time to stop thinking about how much she hated herself. Not only did she hate herself, but she hated the world.
Especially since she moved to Manhattan last month. Her dad owned Chase Airlines, and he had to move up to New York to check on whatever he does. He just had to bring his whole family, even if they were happy where they were. Well, Annabeth was happy in Virginia, where she was born. Not so much the rest of the family- they were big city people.
See, Annabeth hated big cities. Her family was always moving around because of her dads business, so she didn't have very many lasting friends. because of that, she started hating just people in general. I mean, she wasnt a bitch to everyone, but she didn't really want to be social.
Big cities= lots of people. Annabeth hated people, Annabeth hated cities.
Especially today. She had woken up at the butt crack of dawn because her two younger twin brothers Bobby and Mathew flew in her room and started jumping on her bed.
Now, Annabeth loved her brothers- but sometimes they got on her nerves. She was normally a morning person, but that's usually when she was not woken up by being jumped on. She may have used a few colorful words in her response, that the boys started repeating; therefore she got her phone taken away.
Besides that, she got into the shower- only to have all the hot water taken up by her witch of a step-mom, Helen- whom Annabeth hated more than being jumped on in the morning. You could say that shower didn't improve good feelings toward her Step-mom.
She then went downstairs to eat breakfast, hoping finally something good would happen to her this morning; when she noticed Helen hadn't cooked for her. Now, Annabeth really didn't mind making her own meal, but Helen had made just enough breakfast for the rest of the family- you could say Annabeth wasn't really in the mood, so you could forgive her for her anger.
"Where the fuck is my fucking breakfast!"
Helen wasn't as forgiving. She tried to give Annabeth her mom stare, but it didn't really work. It was reflected back at her by Annabeths grey eyes, but in a much more interrogating manner- Helen practically shrunk under her gaze. She quickly found her composure though, only to remember what she was mad about.
"You do not speak to your mother that way young lady!" She had a knife in her shaking hand, so Annabeth didn't argue. You can never underestimate the danger of a mad pregnant step-mom.
"I'm not your slave, you are fully capable of making your own breakfast!" She then kicked Annabeth outside for the day.
Great. Annabeth thought, a whole day in the city with no phone or money or breakfast.
She started walking down the street. She didn't know where she was going. the only thing in her mind was away from her house.
She walked for who knows how long- she was zoned out for about the entire time; when she came across a library.
Annabeth loved books, and she thought maybe she could get a good one and find a nice quiet place to read it to pass time.
...
A few minutes later, she walked out with the book It, by Stephen King. She had seen the movie, and loved it' why wouldn't she love the book?
She walked to a nearby park, but sadly found it packed with people. It was a nice day, and it was New York, but she hadn't thought there would be this many people.
She sighed unhappily, then looked around for a quiet place to read.
Now one thing about Annabeth, was that she was very smart- Academically, and worldly. So, when she made a beeline straight to a dark one side ally way, she surprised herself. She went to the back, next to a dumpster and plopped down.
She was actually surprisingly comfortable in that corner and began reading.
She was very intrigued with the boom, that she didn't hear the commotion from the other side of the fence she sat beside, until it actually jumped over it- interrupting her book.
She looked up, annoyed, only to see a guy crouching there, peeking between the chain.
She didn't really connect the dots, that the yelling and sirens across the street might be searching for this guy. She was so annoyed that her morning had been horrible, and she had finally found some peace- when this hobo looking guy, had interpreted her book!
"Who the Fuck are you, and what are you doing Interrupting my book!" She practically screamed at him.
you might say she was a little ticked off at this point.
The guy turned his head to look at who was screaming at him, and practically jumped three feet in the air. he had thought he was alone, and probably didn't expect a 16 year old girl reading a book glaring at him, to be sitting beside him.
"GHAAaaaaa" He yelled and stood up.
Annabeth finally got a good look at him.
This "Hobo guy" didn't exactly look like a hobo guy anymore either.
He was actually not bad looking, and she found herself catching her breath staring up at him.
He had black tousled hair, with a respectably chiseled face. He looked around 16 or 17, 6 foot, and had a lean muscular build. The most striking thing about him though, was his eyes.
They were piercing sea green, and looked surprised and confused like the rest of his face.
They stared at each other for a few minutes in silence.
She forgot all about her book.
What broke there stare was a cop yelling on the other side of the fence.
The guy whipped his head around then dropped to the floor and hid on wall across from Annabeth.
"Are they looking for you?"
He stared at her for a moment, then nodded quickly.
The yelling and sirens soon faded away after a few minutes, and the mysterious guy gasped, as if he hadn't breathed that whole time.
"What did you do?" Annabeth asked him.
He looked cautious about telling her, but finally did.
" I- I didn't really do it-i" He stumbled with his words, "i was blamed for Stealing."
Annabeth nodded, she wasn't one to be nosy.
"I'm Annabeth Chase." The words popped out before she could stop them.
Oh great, now this guy who i dont know could be a criminal, knows what i look like and knows my name.
i mean, a cute guy- Stop Annabeth, he could be lying and actually stole something.
He stared at her for a moment, the smiled. A really cute smile actually- Stop Annabeth!
"I'm Percy Jackson, nice to meet you Annabeth." He replied.
At that moment, Annabeths future changed drastically. For the better or for the worse, she didnt know.
