Back to the Island
Jimmy was in his lab working on his latest invention with Goddard as they made the final adjustments on it.
They backed away and Jimmy smiled happily as he said, "There, the new and improved Chrono Arch is finished."
Suddenly the door opened behind him and Cindy walked in and said, "Hey Neutron."
Jimmy was startled as he turned to her and said, "Cindy? How did you get in my lab?"
Cindy had a smug grin as she answered, "I took Carl's bag of your hair."
Jimmy showed an annoyed expression as he held his hands out to his sides and said, "Well what are you doing here?"
Cindy smiled coyly as she said, "Well, there was nothing on TV so I thought I'd come see what you're up to. What have you been working on?"
Jimmy looked at the Chrono Arch and said, "If you must know, I've been making some adjustments to my Chrono Arch."
Cindy pointed at the Chrono Arch as she shrewdly said, "Isn't that the thing that sent you to that future where you were dumb and Libby ruled the world?"
Jimmy smiled at her tauntingly as he said, "Yes, but I've made some adjustments to it. Now it can send you to all sorts of alternate timelines."
Cindy curiously said, "Alternate timelines?"
Jimmy smiled as he explained, "There are an infinite number of realities in the multiverse and now we have the means of traveling to any of them. We have a way of knowing what could happen if we made different choices in our lives. We could visit any one of these realities and see what our lives would be like years from now if things were different."
Cindy smiled mockingly as she said, "And how do you get back Neutron?"
Jimmy had a smug expression as he pulled out a remote with a long antenna in the front as he said, "With this, my portable wormhole projector. As long as you have this you can easily open a portal back to your own reality."
Cindy folded her arms with an annoyed expression as she said, "Okay, but does it work?"
Jimmy smiled arrogantly as he said, "Of course Cindy. I made it."
Cindy nodded as she skeptically said, "Uh huh."
Jimmy glared at her with a vexed expression as he said, "Okay, I'll prove it to you."
He when to the Chrono Arch and used a computer to make it show a few different timelines, one involved dinosaurs, one involved aliens, and the last one just showed a picture of a sunny beach.
Cindy smiled as she pointed and said, "Now that looks like a good one to me."
Cindy then smiled as she walked through the portal and then Jimmy and Goddard followed her as they appeared in the reality. They found themselves on the shore of a tropical island as the portal closed behind them, they looked around and saw no one nearby.
Cindy became disappointed as she complained, "Congratulations, you made a gateway to a distant island in the middle of the sea."
Jimmy glared at Cindy as he argued, "Hey you would the one who walked through the portal, I was just following you."
Cindy then angrily shoved Jimmy back and made him fall on his butt while she said, "Well you're the clueless boy who opened the door for me!"
Jimmy then dropped his remote and it landed in the water and shorted out as he said, "No!"
Jimmy then picked up the remote and said, "Cindy you shorted out the remote's batteries!"
Cindy looked alarmed as she said, "What?! You mean we're stuck here?!"
Jimmy glared at her as he angrily said, "Yes because YOU shoved me into the water!"
Cindy took a deep breath and then said, "Okay, can you fix it?"
Jimmy turned the remote over and opened the battery pack before looking at Goddard while he said, "Well I need to replace the tritium battery. Goddard."
Goddard's back opened and a robotic arm came out and gave Jimmy the battery he requested and Jimmy exchanged it with the dead one.
Jimmy looked at Cindy as he said, "The good news is it's fixed, the bad news is it will take twenty-four hours before it's at full power."
Cindy got angry as she held her arms out and said, "You mean we're stuck here for a whole day?!"
Jimmy pointed his finger at her as he sternly said, "Hey, this isn't my fault Vortex! So stop complaining and take it!"
Cindy folded her arms as she pouted and glanced around while she said, "Fine! What is this place anyway?"
Jimmy pulled out a small handheld computer and pushed buttons on it as he said, "Give me a second. We're in a reality fifteen years in the future on…"
He stopped and his eyes widened in shock as he read information on the screen, Cindy was concerned as she said, "What is it?"
Jimmy looked at Cindy in shock as he said, "This is the island where we were stranded together?"
Goddard's jaw dropped while Cindy said, "What?"
Jimmy stared at his handheld computer as he said, "According to my calculations, in this reality we chose not to return to Retroville and stay on the island forever."
Cindy was amazed as she glanced around and said, "Then, where are we? I mean, where are our future selves?"
Jimmy was not sure as he said, "I don't know. Let's see if we can find them."
They started walking down the beach and after an hour or so they heard people talking and then they climbed over a large boulder and saw a couple dozen people. They were wearing grass skirts, loincloths, and other tribal clothes and the trees behind them had large treehouses. They had a bonfire burning and they had some dead trees they were using as benches and they also had some other things.
Cindy did not recognize anyone as she said, "Who are those people?"
Jimmy glanced around as he said, "I don't know."
Goddard then made a robot arm come out of his back and pointed his finger and Jimmy and Cindy were shocked as they saw an adult version of Jimmy talking with someone else. The older Jimmy was about twenty-six and he had a healthy build as he wore only a loincloth and his chest was exposed and looked nice. His hair was almost the same shape but the top drooped a bit and he had a small amount of facial hair around his mouth.
Cindy was amazed while she and Jimmy walked to the adult Jimmy and he said, "Hello?"
The adult Jimmy looked at them and was a bit surprised for a moment as he stared at them in awe when they came up to him.
Jimmy pointed at his adult self as he said, "Are you me?"
The adult Jimmy smiled as he nodded and said, "Yep. Let me guess. You're from an alternate timeline where you returned to Retroville?"
They both nodded and then the older Jimmy said, "You should've stayed. Trust me. Best decision I ever made."
Jimmy and Cindy were shocked as Jimmy asked, "But what about Carl, Sheen, Libby, Mom, Dad, and Goddard?"
The adult Jimmy smiled as he held his arms out and said, "They're all here."
Jimmy and Cindy were confused as they said, "Huh?"
The older Jimmy turned his head and cupped his mouth as he said, "Guys, come over here!"
They were soon joined by older versions of Carl and Sheen as they said, "Hi Jimmy."
The young Jimmy and Cindy stared at them in shock; the young Sheen was in good shape and his hair was slightly longer with short sideburns on the sides of his face. Carl was still heavy and his hair looked a bit bigger, and he also had a small beard on his chin, and he also still wore glasses. Sheen wore a loincloth and a necklace made of shark teeth, while Carl wore a loincloth and a vest made of leaves.
They both looked down at the young Jimmy and Cindy as Jimmy exclaimed, "Carl?! Sheen?!"
Soon the two of them moved aside as they were joined by an adult version of Libby as she said, "Hey young girlfriend."
Cindy was amazed as she exclaimed, "Libby?!"
The adult Libby looked beautiful, she had a body and figure like Beautiful Gorgeous', her hair was longer but still in braided cornrows. She wore a long grass skirt, a dark pink tube top, a flower bracelet on her right wrist, and she had flowers in her hair.
Cindy smiled as she said, "You look great!"
Libby smiled happily as she said, "Thanks girl."
A future version of Goddard then came, Jimmy was surprised as he said, "Goddard?"
The future Goddard was still functional but he was much dirtier as he barked and small amounts of sand came out of his mouth.
Goddard and his future self licked each other before a baffled Jimmy looked at the others and said, "I don't understand. What are you all doing here?"
Libby smiled as she glanced around and explained, "Well, fifteen years ago, when you and Cindy decided to stay on this island Carl, Sheen, and me went back to Retroville and told everyone what happened. Then we all decided to come live here with you. So we came back here with our parents and some of people from back home and we all moved here to be with you guys."
Jimmy and Cindy were both surprised as Jimmy looked at his adult self and asked, "So, mom and dad are here too?"
The older Jimmy smiled as he pointed his thumb behind him and said, "Oh yeah. Everyone's parents are here. So are some of the kids from school and their families. We started our own tribe and we're doing great."
The young Jimmy then curiously asked, "What about the lab?"
The older Jimmy thought and said, "The lab? I haven't used that since we left. But don't worry. I've still been hard at work, studying science and inventing things to help our tribe."
Cindy looked at Sheen and smiled tauntingly as she said, "And how are you here with no Ultralord?"
Sheen was confused for a moment but then smiled as he said, "Ultralord? Oh yeah my old action figure. I haven't thought about him in years."
Jimmy and Cindy's jaws dropped in shock, and then Libby smiled flirtatiously as she leaned against Sheen and said, "Yep, my man loves no one except me."
Cindy pointed at them in shock as she said, "You two are dating?"
Libby chuckled and said, "No. We're married."
Sheen put his arm around Libby as she kissed him, and Jimmy and Cindy were both shocked as they stared at them.
Sheen smiled slyly as he said, "And we're not the only ones."
Immediately after he said that they all heard Cindy's voice call out, "Jimmy!"
They turned to see an adult version of Cindy happily walking toward them as the older Jimmy happily said, "Cindy!"
She came to him and they lovingly embraced and then kissed on the lips as the young Jimmy and Cindy stared in shock with their mouths agape.
The future Jimmy and Cindy stopped kissing and pulled apart as they looked down at their younger selves as Jimmy said, "Hey honey, look who's here."
The future Cindy smiled down at them as she happily said, "Aww, this is great! Look how cute we were back then."
Jimmy was dumbfounded, not only because of their love but he also couldn't help but stare at the beautiful adult Cindy. She still had the same hairstyle but her face looked more developed, and she had a body and figure similar to Libby's, though not as buxom. She wore a long grass skirt, a bright blue tube top, a pearl necklace, and she had a blue flower in her hair like Cindy wore when they were stranded.
Jimmy was speechless as he said, "You're…"
The adult Cindy smiled happily as she said, "Married? Yep, happily too.'
The young Jimmy was speechless while the young Cindy glanced at him and then showed a big enchanted smile.
The adults started walking as the older Jimmy said, "Come on. We'll show you around."
The young Jimmy, Cindy, and Goddard followed them as their future selves gave them a tour of the village. They showed them the treehouses they build as well as an irrigation and plumbing system that Jimmy had invented. The young Jimmy and Cindy were impressed by it and they were surprised to see how happy people were in the village.
As they walked through the jungle Jimmy then curiously asked, "Hey, what about the giant spider? And the snakes and carnivorous plants?"
They kept walking as the future Cindy looked back at them and explained, "Well we stopped the spider before everyone else came, and we told them about all the dangerous things on the island. As long as everyone knows where to stay away from there's nothing to worry about. We've had some close calls but we all survived."
The young Jimmy and Cindy smiled as they kept walking and they glanced at each other before looking away sheepishly. They went back to the beach and showed them some of the other stuff they had, such as rafts, spears, and fishing poles and nets. They saw some of the people of their tribe and recognized them as people from their school, including Britney, Bolbi, and some other people. They also saw kids running around and playing together and realized they must've been born on that island. Jimmy and Cindy could not help but smile at this lovely sight, especially Cindy as it brought back memories from when she and Jimmy were stranded together.
The older Jimmy turned around and said, "Hey come on. If you're gonna spend the night with us then I know exactly where you two should sleep."
The older Cindy nodded in agreement as she led her younger counterpart to a treehouse while the older Jimmy led him to another one. The older Jimmy used the makeshift elevator to lift him and his younger self up and walked into the treehouse.
He looked around and said, "Mom, dad, I've brought someone here."
An older version of Hugh, wearing only a loincloth and glasses, smiled at Jimmy as he happily said, "Jimbo! Great timing, your mom's making coconut pie again."
Judy walked in smiling as she held a coconut pie; she wore a long leafy dress that was reminiscent of the dress she always wore in Jimmy's present.
The future Jimmy smiled politely as he said, "Thanks, but I've actually got someone I want you to see."
He stepped aside to reveal his younger self behind him as he said, "Mom? Dad?"
Judy was speechless as she dropped the pie while Hugh was shocked as he said, "Double Jimbo!"
Judy smiled as she happily picked up the young Jimmy, kissed him, and hugged him as she said, "My baby! It's like a dream come true!"
Jimmy showed an uncomfortable expression as he said, "Thanks mom."
The older Jimmy showed an amused smile as he explained, "Yeah, he and Cindy came from an alternate timeline and they're spending the day with us. Can he stay with you guys tonight?"
Judy smiled as she held the younger version of her son and happily said, "Of course Jimmy. You can stay with us. It will be just like old times!"
Jimmy smiled awkwardly; sometime later he went down to the beach and joined Cindy as he said, "Did your parents agree to let you stay with them."
Cindy nodded with a slightly annoyed expression as she said, "Uh huh."
Jimmy shrugged as he said, "Well at least we'll have a safe place to sleep."
Suddenly, Carl running as he urgently exclaimed, "Guys! Guys! Britney and Bolbi are in the jungle being attacked by snakes!"
Cindy and Jimmy were shocked, then they were joined by their older selves, Sheen and Libby as they held spears.
The future Jimmy showed a determined expression as he said, "Then let's go save them!"
The future Cindy looked at the younger versions of herself and Jimmy and said, "Come on!"
Jimmy and Cindy followed all the adults into the jungle and they found Britney and Bolbi cornered by a few boa constrictors. The snakes hissed at them until the others came to the rescue and knocked them out while yelling in excitement. They knocked the snakes out and saved their friends while the young Jimmy and Cindy watched in amazement.
Libby picked up an unconscious snake and said, "This one's gonna make a nice pair of boots for me."
Jimmy and Cindy were shocked and impressed as they followed everyone back to the beach while the sun was still up.
Jimmy and Cindy were approached by their future selves, Carl, Sheen, and Libby came as the future Jimmy said, "Come on you two. Let's have some fun before sunset."
Jimmy and Cindy followed them all and spent the next few hours doing various activities on the island with them. They went swinging from vines in the jungle as they yelled in excitement, then they went swimming in a watering hole, then they went swimming in the ocean with sea turtles, and then they played with monkeys. Later, when the sun was starting to go down, everyone in the tribe gathered on the beach for some fun. Cindy sat on a log, waiting for her older self when Libby came and sat down next to her with a smile on her face.
Cindy smiled as she pointed at Libby and said, "Hey, I just thought of something. How did you make it fifteen years with no music?"
Libby smiled as she pulled out a pair of bongos and said, "That's easy, I make my own music now."
She started playing the bongos and Cindy couldn't help but sway to the beat as she smiled, then her older self came.
She smiled at Libby and said, "Hey Libby, could you go tell Sheen to get ready."
Libby put her bongos down and happily said, "Sure."
She walked away and then Cindy's future self sat down with her and smiled happily as she looked across to see Jimmy sitting with his future self on another log.
The older Cindy sighed lovingly as she said, "My life is perfect."
Cindy smiled as she looked at her older counterpart and pointed at her necklace as she said, "Future me, where did you get that necklace?"
The older Cindy smiled as she looked down at it and said, "Oh, Jimmy gave this to me for our anniversary. He made it himself."
The younger Cindy was amazed as she said, "Wow."
Her older self leaned closer to her as she whispered, "Don't tell him I said this, but I have a little surprise for him."
She looked up at her and curiously asked, "What is it?"
Her older self smiled sweetly as she asked, "Can't tell you, that would ruin the surprise for you."
Suddenly the older Jimmy stood up and waved at them as he said, "Hey Cindy! Over here!"
The older Cindy smiled as she walked to her husband while the younger Cindy watched with a big smile on her face.
The adults were getting ready for something when Cindy decided to go sit with Jimmy as she said, "This future seems pretty great huh?"
She sat beside him and Jimmy couldn't help but smile as he said, "Yeah, it does seem nice."
Just then the older Carl came and sat between them as he said, "Hi younger Jimmy and Cindy."
They both looked awkward as Jimmy said, "Hi Carl."
The three of them watched Sheen and Libby and the older Cindy and Jimmy, which gave the younger Cindy an idea.
She smiled at Carl as she slyly said, "Too bad you don't have someone special like Jimmy and Sheen."
Carl smiled as he said, "Yes I do."
They were surprised when suddenly an older version of Elke came and happily said, "Carl!"
The older Carl happily stood up and exclaimed, "Elke!"
Jimmy stared at Elke in shock as he said, "Elke!"
Elke looked amazing as an adult, she had a body and figure like the older Cindy's, her hair just as relatively long, and she looked beautiful. She wore a long grass skirt, a purple tube top, she had a lei hanging around her neck, and a pink flower in her hair.
Carl went to her and hugged her before she kissed him, Cindy was shocked as she said, "Who's Elke?"
Jimmy watched in shock as he answered, "Carl's girlfriend from Sweden. And apparently his wife in this reality."
Cindy was amazed as she stared in shock and disbelief, sometime later some of the tribesman were playing music while others danced. The older Jimmy and Cindy danced together as they smiled at each other lovingly, Jimmy shook his but while Cindy swayed her hips seductively. Sheen danced with Libby as she swayed her hips seductively and then he took her hand and danced around with her while she smiled. Carl happily danced and tapped his foot while Elke swayed her hips in front of him with a loving smile on her face.
The young Jimmy and Cindy watched as Cindy said, "That does look fun."
Jimmy stood up and smiled politely as he held his hand out and said, "Cindy, care to dance?"
She stood up and took his hand as she happily said, "I'd be delighted."
They walked out and happily danced to the tribal music, though not the same way as their future selves were.
The next morning, Cindy was walking with her future self as she happily said, "This is great!"
The older Cindy smiled happily as she lead her younger self to a tree and said, "I know! Coming to this island was the best thing that ever happened to me! From then, I know me and Jimmy would be together forever."
She led Cindy to a tree that had her and Jimmy's initials carved into the trunk inside a heart, which Jimmy made when they were stranded together.
The young Cindy showed disappointment as she said, "Wow. If I knew this was what my life would've been like, I would've never let Jimmy take us back to Retroville."
Her older self smiled down at her as she said, "Don't worry. Nothing's set in stone. I'm sure one day you and Jimmy will end up together and have a great life together."
Cindy smiled at her older counterpart as she hopefully said, "Really?"
The older Cindy smiled as she happily said, "Yeah, I'm not sure what's in my future but as long as I've got Jimmy and our tribe I'm sure we'll be fine."
Cindy felt reassured, then the Jimmys came and the younger one said, "Cindy, it's time to go home."
She smiled as she followed him and Goddard joined them as they went to the shore as the whole tribe gathered to watch them leave.
Jimmy and Cindy smiled and waved at everyone as Jimmy happily said, "Bye everyone. Thanks for the memories."
They all waved and kept saying "bye" to them as the portal formed in front of Jimmy, Goddard, and Cindy and they stepped through it, reappearing in Jimmy's lab.
The Chrono Arch turned off behind them and they smiled back at it as Cindy said, "You know. If your invention can show us alternate timelines, maybe it can show us our own future."
Jimmy smiled at Cindy as he held her hand and said, "Maybe, but I think I'd rather wait and find out for myself, with you."
Cindy smiled lovingly as she and Jimmy walked away together while Goddard followed; back on the island in the alternate future everyone in the tribe watched the portal close.
Jimmy smiled proudly as he said, "They've got a bright future ahead of them."
Cindy smiled at him lovingly as she took his hand and said, "Yeah. Hey Jimmy, there's something I've been meaning to tell you."
Jimmy looked at her and curiously asked, "What's that?"
She smiled lovingly as she put her hand on her flat stomach and said, "I'm pregnant."
His jaw dropped in shock and excitement as he said, "Really?! That's great! I love you!"
They happily hugged and kissed while everyone else smiled, then Libby looked at Sheen and said, "Sheen, I want a kid too."
Sheen smiled slyly as he said, "Oh yeah!"
Carl looked at Elke as he asked, "Elke, are you ready to have kids?"
She excitedly held Carl and kissed him as she said, "I thought you'd never ask!"
Everyone in the tribe happily rejoiced together as Jimmy had his arm around Cindy and they were joined by Sheen and Libby, and Carl and Elke.
Author's note: I thought it would be nice to see what their lives would be like if they stayed on the island. This way we learn while it being in another universe so Jimmy and Cindy's future is still uncertain, but they will be together. Please review.
