Author's note
A quick note to let you know why I made this: I used to be a fan of cinemasins. I liked their content. Thought it was just a joke. But it was not. It was serious, unfair criticism of many movies. I discovered that thanks to the birdman. Another channel that has devoted himself to proving cinemasin's many follies. I am now a fan of his, since his job is actually funny, good and all his sins are well-substantiated. I later discover the fanfics Piercetheveils made here about the ace attorney series. I thought they were good. Better than actual cinemasins at least. But upon reading them more than once, I began to notice the flaws. There are tons of them, most of which are answered by just paying attention. So I decided to become the birdman here. I will make fics pointing everything wrong with Piercetheveils' everything wrong with for every ace attorney game. This is for the first game, Phoenix Wright: ace attorney.
Episode 1: the first turnabout
[(Murder mystery game shows us who the culprit is for the first time in a very, very long series.)]
"That's the point. Shu Takumi wanted to give the players the feeling of nailing the culprit. This game, among others, borrows elements from Columbo, a mystery series that usually shows the killer at the beginning. That way the narrative doesn't focus on who the killer is, but how the detective can prove their guilt. That's the feeling they are going for here. And it works." One sin added.
[(Murderer narrates to himself at the scene of the crime.)]
"He is coming up with a plan to frame another party. Sure, it may be silly of him to think it there, but that is perfectly normal. He just killed a woman and is in shock. The characters in those games are humans, not robots. They act like humans. And humans are prone to error. If everybody in these series was perfect, why would we even want to see them?" one sin added.
(Not everyone takes on a murder case right off the bat like this) [(Unless you are a lawyer in these series, in which case it's the only sort of trial you take on.)]
The cimemasins clichés are beginning to show, I see. Pierce yells at the screen cliché origin. Let me tell you it happens a lot." One sin added
[(Larry Butz isn't annoying as fuck yet. He is actually okay in this episode.)]
"Pierce sins something she likes cliché origin." One sin added
[(Winston Payne isn't annoying as fuck yet. He is actually okay in this episode.)]
"Pierce sins something she likes cliché. Again." One sin added.
[(The judge pulls some weird readiness test on Phoenix and…never does it again for the rest of the series to anyone else. Why is that?"
"Never does it again for the rest of the series, huh? Guess when turnabout memories came around, Pierce was looking at her keyboard and not the screen." One sin added.
[(Larry Butz doesn't know what being dumped means, so the series goes on to teach it to him many times over. Seems fair, right?)]
"Okay…now where's the sin? Was that it? I thought the point of this was to show everything wrong with Phoenix Wright: ace attorney. Not to talk about Larry's Butz personal problems." One sin added.
[(Cindy Stone was a model and had several sugar daddies, but still lived in a tiny, not-very-nice apartment frequented by thieves, because…plot)]
"Two problems here. One: sugar daddies are only good for buying small items. Jewelry, Clothes, shoes…I know these can be expensive, but nowhere near a house. Do you have any idea how much a house would cost? How could she ask any of them to buy a whole house without tipping them off to her true intentions? Second: it's clear Cindy had no feelings for any of those sugar daddies. She only used them for their money. Asking one of them to buy a house for her would be a huge commitment. She would be basically saying she wants to be with them for a long time. Guess how many sins you are getting for this one. Exactly." Two sins added.
[(Frank Sahwit's shoulders.)]
"What's the problem? It's just an animation. I know it's unusual, but…if you don't like unusual animations, stay away for this series!" One sin added.
[(Frank Sahwit is a terrible liar.)}
"Yes. Yes, he is. Are you done? I thought you would bother explaining why that is a problem. It's his character. Are you saying he should be a good liar? Do you want Larry to go to prison?" one sin added.
(Pursuit theme plays) [(one sin removed.)}
"Pierce removes a sin here. As she should. So I will too." One sin removed.
[(The hair throw)]
"Sinning this scene. This probably has gotten the biggest laugh out of every person I have ever seen play this case. Myself included. So by sinning this you are saying we are all idiots for laughing at something comedic. You absolute monster!" one sin added.
[(Mentor ex Machina)}
"Here we are, people. Trying to copy cimemasins' work means that you will inevitably copy all their stupid, egregious sins. This is one of them. The completely wrong use of the phrase "Deus ex Machina." By definition: "a plot device whereby a seemingly unsolvable problem in a story is suddenly or abruptly resolved by an unexpected and unlikely occurrence." Mia is shown being there to help and guide Phoenix the whole case. That means Deus ex Machina does not apply here." One sin added.
(Or should I say…Mr. Did it?) [(Bad puns)]
"Sinning this line! That's it. Nope, I am not saying anything further." One sin added.
(Phoenix explains Sahwit's motive) [(Narration)]
"Okay…and why is that a sin exactly? Because cinemasins said so? Narration and exposition are ways for the game to inform the audience of useful or interesting information. You complain about it, but you also complain when you are not given enough information. Make up your mind." One sin added.
[(Larry Butz think murder weapons are an appropriate present for a woman. This is ultimately how the thinker clock is able to claim a second victim, and I partially blame Larry for Mia's murder, goddammit!)]
"It's not as if the thinker is meant to be used as a murder weapon. It's a very beautiful creation and very functional. It's the fault of Sahwit and White for making them murder tools. Besides, the thinker was used to preserve the "Knowing it's a clock" contradiction. And even if the thinker wasn't there, White would have used a different weapon. And you would have found a way to complain about that, too, right?" one sin added.
[(More narration.)]
"More unnecessary complaining about narration. Plus, sinning Mia's speech." One sin added.
[(Also, ending narration…)}
"And I'm gonna stop you right there Pierce. You have complained three times about the same thing. I'm pretty sure you are padding the sin count right now. You seem a lot like cinemasins right now. Also, this specific part is called foreshadowing. Get your facts, straight." One sin added.
Total sin tally: 17
Sentence: hit with thinker statue
