[A/N] This little idea had been in my head for a while. I've been on an Invader Zim binge and I realized that there aren't very many fics in the fandom that feature Irkin OCs which really sucks because I feel they are a really interesting race that deserves to be fleshed out more.
This fic will be a lot more serious in comparison to the show but i'll try to keep at least some of the comedy. I will also be trying my hand at romance in this fic so be ready for tha lol.
That's all. Please Enjoy!
When Iiek was informed she had been selected for Operation Impending Doom 2, she had to struggle to contain her excitement. She had been waiting for an opportunity like this since the failed Operation Impending Doom 1. She had been the only invader other than Zim to survive that massacre, mostly by sheer luck as she had been in her ship at the time doing some 'maintenance' on the vessel in preparation for the invasion.
She had returned down to the surface of Irk to find that half the planet had been reduced to rubble and all of the invaders except for her and ZIm had been obliterated by the shorter invader. Normally, the chaos reigning would have been the perfect time to execute her plan but due to Zim's incompetence, the higher ups began keeping a closer eye on Iiek to ensure she wouldn't pull something as incredibly stupid as he had.
She spent nearly ten years under constant scrutiny, almost nothing to the incredibly long lifespan of an Irkin but still enough to make her chafe under the pressure. When they finally cleared her of suspicion, it was far too late to enact her plan. She would have to wait for another opportunity.
When she had been selected as an invader for the newest operation to put the galaxy under the Irkin's boot, she had gone into overdrive to ensure everything would go to plan.
And it seemed everything had. She attended the Great Assigning, was assigned her planet for conquest, received her SIR unit, and was sent on her way. She had left planet Conventia with a wide smile on her face. Only instead of beginning to make her way to planet Plinch like she had been assigned, she headed in the opposite direction toward the most uninhabited regions of space.
See, while most Irkin would be ecstatic to be a part of the biggest Irkin conquest in the history of their species, Iiek was not most Irkin. She had no desire to be a cog in the machine for the Tallest, something that most others of her species would find blasphemous. Iiek had no idea what made her different from other Irkin, she suspected she had been given a defective PAK at birth but she couldn't be sure and it didn't matter either way, she had made up her mind years ago.
When she arrived back on her ship with her SIR unit, she had immediately began rewiring his central brain chip to make the robot loyal to her instead of the Irkin Empire as a whole. She had then torn out her ship's tracking unit and began plotting a course to a small planet in the middle of nowhere, a planet named Kreesh.
Kreesh had been the planet Iiek had chosen for her plan for one simple reason, it was the only inhabited planet for dozens of lightyears in every direction. Iiek knew that due to the Tallest's preference to only go in a straight line when conquering worlds, Kreesh would be an unlikely target for Irkin invasion any time in the future, leaving it free for her to do as she pleased.
Her plan was simple. She'd land on Kreesh, spend a few years observing their behavior to better blend in, conquer it (She was an Irkin after all), and spend the rest of her long life ruling the world from the shadows in peace. It was a simple plan.
Unfortunately for her, the way things were going, she'd never even make it to Kreesh.
Iiek frantically pressed the buttons on the console of her Shuvver cruiser, cursing as red warning lights blared around her inside of the cockpit. Her purple eyes darted back and forth across the holographic display as she tried to keep track of the ship's failing systems. Her ship shook as more lasers splashed against it's hull.
"Mistress, we are being forced off course. If this continues, we will miss our intended by several light years. I recommend stopping at the nearest spaceport for repairs." Her SIR unit said as he attempted to do maintenance on the inside of the cruiser even as it was being assaulted by the ship behind them.
The former invader growled, "I know that idiot! Unfortunately the nearest spaceport is also several light years away! And even if we did go in for repair, I've already modified my PAK to prevent the fleet from tracking us, they'd no doubt tell the nearest Irkin soldier of my defection! That isn't even mentioning the tail we currently have." Her fingers flew over the console, digits rapidly pressing buttons on the holographic display as she tried to keep her ship from exploding.
"Why are the Grihn even this far away from their home system?! Much less attacking an Irkin vessel! Those pirates should know better!" She yelled angrily as she brought up her ship's power systems, she turned to her SIR unit, "Ram, hold on to something! I'm rerouting power from the cruiser's grav field to it's weapons! I'm gonna take these sumi out in one shot." Ram nodded and extended his arms to either side of the ship's walls, magnetically attaching himself there by his palms.
Iiek pressed a few buttons on the console and was immediately overcome with a weightless sensation as the ship lost it's artificial gravity field. As random parts floated about her face, the Irkin brought up the Shuvver's targeting systems and focused it on the dark grey ship at her rear.
She waited a moment for her Shuvver's weapons to lock on before pressing a button in front of her. The ship shook as it's main weapons fired at the assailant, and Iiek watched with satisfaction as the enemy cruiser's shields wavered and then disappeared completely, allowing her laser barrage to impact the hull directly.
To the Grihn's credit, their ship held out longer against her weapons longer than most would have, tanking three whole shots from her main battery before being consumed in a fiery explosion.
Iiek sighed in relief, leaning back in her chair as she returned the ship's gravity back to normal. She turned to Ram as he dropped down onto the floor, "Give me a sitrep, how bad is it?"
The SIR unit saluted, "Mistress, multiple hull breaches detected, cabin four and two have lost power. Warp drive has been irreparably damaged, it will need replacing. Shields and life support are stable."
Iiek cursed loudly as she took in the news. Without a functioning warp drive, there was almost no way to make it to Kreesh given how remote it was. And there was no way she could simply buy a new one at a spaceport as they'd wonder why she didn't just request one from the main fleet and become suspicious. Her plan was dead in the water.
She took a deep breath, running her hand through her antenna as she began to think deeply. She was currently stranded in the far reaches of space without a functioning warp drive, and she had modified her PAK so she would appear dead to the main fleet so she couldn't request a new one. What to do…
She hummed, swiping her hands across the display in front of her, bringing up the galactic map. She studied it, purple eyes sweeping across the map in search of something specific, leaning forward as she found it, "There, computer zoom in, Planet B-3 Sol System."
At her verbal command, the ship's computer zoomed in on the planet specified, enlarging it until it was large enough to take up the entire display. Iiek grinned as she took in the planet, it was a Class M planet meaning it had an atmosphere not made of poison and was mostly inhabitable.
And if her scans indicated anything, it already was inhabited, although the dominant species didn't seem to be a space-faring civilization so there was little chance of her obtaining a functioning warp drive.
Iiek's grin widened as she took in the information her computer had been able to glean from the planet's own satellites. The planet itself was extremely biodiverse, with multiple climates present all over it's surface, different species of fauna inhabited every continent although one remained constant.
The dominant species were four limbed, bipedal, and according to her computer, incredibly stupid. The common civilian had an IQ lower than some animals on the planets the Irkin Empire had conquered and were all too willing to ignore things that didn't affect them directly. It was a planet practically made for invasion.
Iiek cackled as a plan came together in her head. Screw Kreesh, this planet was perfect for her needs, it would be a breeze to conquer! Her hands flew across the console as she plotted a course for this new planet, grimacing slightly as she took in the two weeks of travel time without her warp drive. It was a good thing that Iiek had modified her Shuvver with especially powerful engines or else it would take much longer.
She shook her head, it didn't matter how long it took to get there, she had waited this long to put her plan into action, she could wait a little longer.
The Irkin grinned sharply as she powered up her ship's main engines, sending her Shuvver rocketing through space at a speed that would make any out of date voot cruiser blush with envy.
Earth wouldn't know what hit it.
Three Months Later
Gaz stared at the clock on the wall as her teacher droned on about some inane topic nobody in the class cared to listen to. The sixteen year old wanted nothing more than to take out her new Gameslave and play Vampire Piggy Hunter but apparently videogames weren't 'conductive to the learning environment', which was stupid. Gaz just got a new system and she'd barely had a chance to play it yet.
'Pfft. It's not like anyone learns anything in this skool anyways.' She thought grumpily. She had been in an even worse mood than usual lately, mostly owing to her brother and his most recent obsession, Zim.
Two months ago the green skinned boy had arrived at the skool and sent Dib's alien mania into overdrive. The big-headed boy had been insufferably, always telling Gaz about his latest attempt to expose the green skinned boy for the alien he really was as of the purple haired girl cared.
And really, it was extremely obvious to anyone with eyes that the boy wasn't human. For one, he was waaay too short to be eighteen like he claimed he was, shorter than even Gaz who stood at around 5'3. His skin was green and he had no ears, his eyes looked plastic, he only had three fingers on each hand, and his tongue was barbed if what Gaz had seen was right. Nobody with sense would believe he was even slightly human.
Unfortunately for Dib, most humans had the IQ of a slightly damp monkey and didn't suspect a thing, leading to no amount of torment for her brother as he constantly tried and failed to get them to believe him.
Gaz personally thought his suffering was hilarious. She had lost hope for humanity at a very young age and so didn't even bother trying to help her brother on his crusade no matter how much he bugged her to. Although sometimes her insistence to not get involved didn't matter to the feuding pair led to some less than amusing situations, like that pig curse thing.
'Though I certainly made him pay for that one.' She thought to herself, smirking darkly. Around her, the students who took notice of her smirk went white with fear as they imagined what poor soul had caught her attention.
The classroom was interrupted by a knock at the door. Mr. Elliot stopped speaking and looked toward the door curiously before walking over and opening it. He stuck his head out the door into the hallway, "What can I help you with. Oh really? Well I think there's enough space for one more. Ok, yep, oh dear. I'll do my best. Alright, you have a good day sir!"
Mr. Elliot stepped back into the room with a big smile on his face and Gaz could already tell he was about to say something more horrible than usual. She was immediately proven right as he clapped his hands to get everyone's attention.
"Alright everyone, may I have your attention please?" He waited for everyone to look at him and Gaz noticed he had left the door open, "Due to a catastrophic accident involving a slightly expired bean burrito and a malfunctioning microwave, our sister skool has been shut down while they clean the bean gunk out of the cracks in the walls. Unfortunately, most of the students had to go to the hospital to have their organs replaced after the rancid meat past sank into their pores."
Gaz had no idea burritos could be so dangerous. She'd have to keep that in mind for later. She turned back toward her teacher as he continued, "Luckily, one student survived with all their organs in tact, she's coming to learn here as they decide whether or not to demolish her skool. Please give a warm welcome to Iiek!" He began clapping into the silent room as the door opened further and a girl Gaz's age stepped through.
She had dark blue hair cut short at her jawline, skin almost as pale as Gaz's own peeked out from the collarbone of the purple hoody she wore. A choker was wrapped around her neck and her lips sat in a smirk, amethyst eyes piercing the class as she gazed around before eventually settling on Gaz herself. She smirked wider as their eyes met.
"It's lovely to meet everyone here. I'm sure we'll all be such good friends." Her eyes remained locked onto Gaz as she spoke.
Mr. Elliot stopped clapping and smiled widely, "What a great introduction Iiek, it's wonderful to have you. You can take the seat beside Gaz, the purple haired girl in the back."
Iiek's smirk widened into a grin and she began walking over, "Of course Mr. Elliot."
As Iiek sat down at the desk to Gaz's right, the purple haired girl caught sight of her backpack. Her eyes widened as she recognized the design, it was almost a carbon copy of Zims own backpack, though where his had pink dots, Iiek's were purple.
She raised her eyes up and was met with the other girl's analyzing gaze, they stared at each other for a moment before Iiek broke the silence.
"You're different." She spoke, amethyst eyes staring at Gaz as if trying to dissect her, "You aren't like the rest of them. Not nearly as ignorant."
Gaz snorted, "And you aren't as stupid as Zim."
Iiek winced as if struck, "What makes you think I have anything to do with him?" She asked, eying Gaz closely.
Gaz simply pointed to the other girl's back, Iiek's gaze following her curiously before widening as it landed on her backpack, "Your backpacks are almost exactly the same, and I know better than most that his isn't just a backpack. You cousin's or something?"
Iiek stared at Gaz for a moment before speaking slowly, "Or something."
The purple haired girl just shrugged, "Yeah well, I don't really care anyways. You just leave me out of whatever you're doing and we won't have a problem. Though my brother's opinion my differ." She turned back to staring at the clock and felt the other girl's gaze stay on her for a moment before doing the same.
"Very well human. We have a deal."
'That girl is not like the other humans.' Iiek thought to herself as she pretended to write down whatever the man at the front was yammering about. From the moment she had stepped into the room, Gaz had been suspicious of her. Seeing her PAK had been the nail in the coffin for Iiek's cover which was mostly her fault. The Irkin hadn't expected any of these human's to be observant enough to recognize Irkin technology simply because Zim hadn't bothered to hide his use of it.
Oh yeah, Zim. When the other Irkin had landed on earth Iiek had been tempted to simply abandon the planet before Zim inevitably destroyed it on accident somehow. The only reason she had decided to stay at all was simply due to her already having put in the work to build a cover persona.
Besides, if she really needed to get rid of him she could just launch him into space and make him someone else's problem. If what she saw of his base was any indication, he didn't exactly have the technology to stop her. She would be free to conquer the planet in peace. Although…
Iiek turned her gaze back to Gaz, the purple haired girl staring at the clock in an attempt to make it move faster. The other girl had proven to be smart enough to sus out Iiek's disguise immediately, a massive step above her fellow humans, she could be a deadly rival. Or an incredible ally. Iiek did need someone who knew the human race better than she did after all.
Seemingly sensing her gaze, Gaz turned back toward Iiek to find her staring at her, "What?" she growled and Iiek smirked again.
"Nothing," She said, holding the other girl's gaze as amber eyes stared into amethyst, "Just thinking."
Gaz growled again before turning back toward the clock, "Think quieter then." She hissed.
Iiek's smirk widened as she turned back toward the front of the class, "Of course Gaz, whatever you say."
'Yes,' Iiek thought, 'she'll do perfectly.'
