This story will be the beginning of my DC universe which I hope to write a decent amount for this and actually put work into something lol. This story here is my first ever original storyline so hope y'all enjoy.
Clark was a man who always wondered where he was from. After all it's hard to think of yourself as human when you can lift a tractor above your head like it's a paperweight, but even though he wasn't sure of his actual origins he was quite happy being a Kent.
Even if he had some family somewhere else it didn't matter because he has ma and pa Kent. His family, the only family that truly mattered. Though he can't help but wonder, especially after 18 years living on earth he's just been more and more cramped in his family farm. He wanted to finally explore, to find out his history.
But that wasn't the main thing on his mind. Currently he was helping his father clean up the barn from some junk they had there over the years. Per usual Clark always picked up the heavier things while his father picked up a lot of the lighter ones. Although his father wished he could pick up heavier than he was currently, years of farmwork takes a toll on your body and aging doesn't help that.
"So Clark, how's your last few days of school going?" His father asked while carrying an object outside of the barn to throw away. "It's going swell pa thanks for asking. Though I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do after, I'm thinking maybe I'll just stick around the farm and get a job or something." Clark replied as he smiled at his father
"Now Clark as much as your ma and I would love you to stay, we both think you should go to college somewhere out of state. It's good to get out of your comfort zone son" the older man said as he walked back to Clark now facing him.
"But Pa I wanna stay with you both. I don't wanna leave you to do all the work on your own, although it does seem interesting to go out of state. I've always been interested in cities... Still I don't wanna leave you." Clark said as he stared his Pa on the eyes sincerely
"Son, you have to get out and do things. Not just sit around your old folks for your whole life. Maybe you could finally find out more about where your from, I know you've been curious about that since we told you those years ago" his father said as he went to sit down on a nearby hay bale
"Well... I guess so Pa, it's just that I worry you and ma will get lonely. I love you guys too much to leave you sad." Said Clark as he sat down adjacent to his father looking down at the ground in thought as he considered if he should try and find himself
"We love you too Clark, and I get your afraid of that but you don't need to worry about us. We'll be just fine, and we'll always be a call away if you ever need us." His father said earnestly looking at his son
"I'm not really interested in college too much Pa... But I'll go out and find more out about my planet. Maybe not right away though, especially after what happened the last time I left Smallville on that class trip..." Clark looked out at the open barn doors at the sun that was getting close to setting as he thought back to his junior year class trip
"Son... I know your powers are hard to control. I know that you're scared of accidentally using them and hurting someone, but Clark. You have them for a reason whatever your birth parents sent you here for whether good or bad your powers aren't bad either way. You need to stop looking at them as a curse son. Theyre a gift, and as long as you only ever use your powers for good that's all that matters no matter how people feel. Your powers are to be used however you choose to use them." Jonathan Kent put his rough hand on his son's shoulder rubbing it softly in reassurance
"I nearly killed him Pa... You always told me that if I can help someone, if I have the strength to be of use. I should help them and so I did.. but I nearly ripped his arm off pulling that man away from that bear. I didn't even know my own strength then... What's the difference now? What will ever be the difference? How can I control my strength when I'm strong enough to destroy a mountain?" Clark teared up a bit by the end of his own words his mind replaying that old situation over and over again
"Clark. You are my son, and I know you could control it if you tried. Like everything son it'll take time, work and effort. I'll always believe in you son. You're smart, way smarter than I was at your age. You can overcome your fears Clark, and I hope that someday you'll realize that you can inspire people to overcome challenges the same way you have. Because son, you've done so much for me and your ma. If you tried you could do so much for the world. You could inspire people, make people believe that anyone can be good. You alone could give people hope, son. And that's something in short supply nowadays. If you believe in yourself with even a sliver of the way your ma and I believe in you. You would do anything you put your mind to. It's not your fault your strong son, it's not your fault you could harm people so easily. You've come a long way since then Clark, and you'll only continue to have more control and confidence. You'll continue to become a better a man. The man I know you can be."
Clark didn't even have anything to say anymore as tears dropped from his eyes he stood up and hugged his father tightly, being careful not to crush him then and there. After eventually breaking the contact his father spoke "why don't you head on inside son. I'll finish up in here there isn't much left to clean up and dinner should be done soon" Clark nodded at his fathers words wiping his still slightly teary eyed as he walked away to the house leaving his father to finish up before they ate dinner as a family. Clark slept better than he had in awhile that night, considering his mind was now made up on just what he was going to do after finishing up school.
