First chapter is up! Enjoy :)

The soft pattering of rain against the windowsill was very relaxing.

It was one of the first major rainfalls of the summer too. Before this, it was very dry and hot the last few weeks. Most didn't seem to mind. It just meant extra days at the beach or pool.

But for Thea, it was a nice change of pace for her.

She sat on her comfy recliner next to one of the windows in her living room, reading one of her books. While the rain continued downpouring outside.

It was quite a storm too, every now and then she'd hear a clap of thunder.

'Really hope the power doesn't go out with this storm. Don't feel like lugging that big ass generator out of the garage.' She thought.

But then that is what to be expected when you live on the coastline of North Carolina. Still, she doesn't regret her move down here from Maine. She loves the milder weather that comes with living in a more southern state.

Plus, her house is in a pretty secluded area surrounded by woods. The nearest neighbors were over a half mile away.

What she liked too was that the nearest beach was only a ten-minute drive away. And her super flexible schedule meant she can go anytime she wanted.

It was nice that the perks of being a teacher meant you had summer off just like the kids.

Fourth of July had just past not a couple days ago. And even then, Thea felt she was still digesting all the food she ate at her neighbor's fourth of July BBQ.

Despite the fact she works out regularly, it still felt like there was somewhat of a lead weight in her stomach.

But then, she wasn't all that used to eating junk food either. And there certainly was plenty of that at the BBQ. It seems like taking several small helpings of different platters still added up to one ginormous serving in the end.

Regardless, she still had a good time. And she was thankful they had a pool, because it was a scorcher that day. There was hardly a time anyone wasn't in the pool.

The weatherman kept warning us we'd have one hell of a scorching summer this year. And so far, they weren't wrong.

Every now and then, her bright blue eyes would shift from her book to the view outside. The rain was coming down so hard, the view was quite blurred out.

Though she can still make out the dense foliage a few meters away that surrounded her home.

A particular loud clap of thunder made her jump a little in her seat. Judging by how loud it was, it struck down very close by. Probably touched down in the woods somewhere beyond the property.

She resumed her reading though, thinking nothing of it.

A couple hours went by, it was midafternoon, and the rain still has yet to let up. Then Thea thought she caught movement out of the corner of her eye beyond the window.

She looked up from her book to peak outside and froze.

The young woman blinked a few more times, even rubbed her eyes. But she was still seeing something rather bazaar out there by the tree line.

Thea gasped when she noted a very strange phenomenon. There was this odd form, and it was surrounded by crackling sparks of energy. At first, she couldn't see anything, just some freaky outline.

All of a sudden, the outline gradually started to take a solid form.

She pushed herself further into the cushions of her chair, as if she were trying to hide herself. Whatever she was looking at through the deluge, it was huge, and didn't look normal.

It was also covered in bright neon green liquid in various areas of its strange body. The thing seemed to be moving about rather clumsily as it made its way across the lawn while sticking to the tree line.

Once it passed the line of sight through her window. She quickly got up and ran to another window.

Thea kept following its slow and awkward movements. A couple times, it stumbled and nearly fell to the ground. But it managed to catch itself and continue on.

She kept going from one window to another. And to her horror, the thing seems to be making its way to her large utility shed in the back.

The young woman hopes it will change course and maybe go back into the woods. But of course, she wasn't that lucky. And she watched as it went through the partially open door to her shed that she forgot to close all the way and lock when she went in there the other day.

'Great! Just fucking great! Some strange creature decided to hide out in my fucking shed!' Her mind screamed.

Thea turned around and leaned back against the wall next to the fireplace.

She started thinking though that she may have jumped the gun a bit. For all she knew, it was a man in a strange costume. Albeit a very tall man.

She shook her head, making her long dark brown hair pool over her shoulders.

'A large man wearing what looked like strange metallic equipment. And apparently said equipment could make him appear almost see-through. And what was with the bright green stuff? Did a bunch of glow sticks explode on him or something? And what the hell was with the strange crackling electricity that surrounded it when it first came out of the woods?' She wondered.

The young woman's gaze went to her iPhone that she left on the arm rest of the recliner.

Calling the police was clearly the most rational thing to do. But if this guy was as abnormal as he looks, that meant police and other officials may haul her in for questioning and hound her.

And the last thing she wanted was for government officials driving her from her home and declaring the place a hazardous or restricted area.

'I really have watched one too many goddamn alien and paranormal documentaries. But still, government officials getting involved in these situations is real and serious.' She thought to herself.

Thea slowly moved away from the wall, turned around, and peaked out the window again that faced her shed.

If she looks closely through the torrential downpour, she could still make out glowing green liquid spots on the grass that trailed from the strange man. There was even a tiny bit on the lower edge of the shed's door.

There was another clap of thunder, making her jump.

Her mind was having an internal conflict at the moment. She was split between letting whatever it was be and hopefully it will move on eventually. Or summon up the courage to go see what it is. Maybe she can even drive it away with something.

'Why do I feel like no matter what decision I think of, there is the possibility of me ending up hurt or dead? If I leave it alone, there is still the possibility it will try and come into the house and kill me. But if I go out there and confront it, it will still try and most likely kill me.' She thought.

At the same time, she was kicking herself for not going into town and buying a rifle for protection when she had the chance.

Thea sat down on the couch deep in thought trying to figure out the best course of action. She felt like she needed to do something. She couldn't just sit back and do nothing.

"Fuck it." She muttered to herself.

The young woman then stood up and made a B-Line for the kitchen.

She crossed it to a small opening just outside the kitchen to a small doorway that held a door that led out into the back. Thea grabbed her thin jacket then went back into the kitchen really quick.

She opened a drawer and fished out one of her biggest kitchen knives. Then she went into one of the other drawers and pulled out a flashlight.

Thea went and stood in front of the back door. She took a deep breath, then opened the door, and headed out into the rain.

The rain poured down on her as she slowly crossed the large lawn. As she drew closer to the shed, she started to shake a little. The knife was clutched in her right hand while the flashlight was in her left.

By the time she came to a stop in front of the shed door, the rain seemed to have already soaked through the thin zip up hoodie she was wearing.

She could see the strange bright green liquid was already starting to wash away from the rain.

There was a strange loud grunt that came from within the shed, that made her hesitant to proceed any further. Moments later, it was followed by a strange clicking sound.

Whatever it was, she was certain no human could make a sound like that.

The young woman took a hesitant step back for a moment. She was really beginning to feel that this was a very bad idea. That was confirmed when she thought she heard a growl come from the strange being.

Her hand clutched the handle of the knife even tighter, until her knuckles turned white.

She was scared, that's for sure. But at the same time, she was curious to get a peek at whatever this strange being may be. She kept reminding herself that she had a knife. And if she has to, she will use it.

Thea clicked off the flashlight for now and let it hang from her wrist by the thin strap it was connected to.

She then cautiously reached up and grasped the edge of the door. Then she started to open it just a little. She didn't want to open it all the way. Just enough to peek inside.

She moved around to the thin opening and slowly peered inside.

And at that moment, she really regretted coming out here. Because what she was now seeing, looked like something out of some creepy alien sci-fi flick.

This being was humanoid in appearance. But it had dark green skin with black striping all down its sides with a beige colored torso. The scariest thing about it though, was the strange armor and mask it wore.

It wore a metal chest plate and shoulder bracers. It also had a strange covering on its lower half. Almost like a metal cod piece or loincloth covered the front of its crotch.

There was also this strange black mesh netting that seemed to cover most of its body beneath the armor it wore. And the mask was kind of angular looking with rough edges. It also had these opaque eye lenses on it.

It also had these strange black tube-like structures jutting from either its head or the mask. And in various places, it was covered with that bright green liquid. A lot of it decorated various areas on its unprotected midsection.

There was also some leaking from one of its thighs. Even one of its arms seemed to be covered in it as it dribbled down its arm to the strange metal wrist gauntlet it wore.

Her shock quickly wore off when she heard a menacing growl coming from it. And that is when Thea realized it was looking right at her.

"Shit!" She harshly whispered.

It clearly was aware of her presence now, and it didn't sound happy at being discovered either.

The being tried to stand up, but he let out a pained grunt, clutched the wound in its stomach and dropped back down into a sitting position. More of its blood started pooling out from the grievous wound.

He was starting to become lightheaded as blood continued gushing out from various places on his body.

He couldn't stay here though, now that he had been discovered, he had to leave. But when he tried to get up again, his body painfully protested, and he fell to his side.

Thea didn't know what to make of the being that was clearly trying to get up. It had become quite clear to her that the bright neon green fluid streaming from it was blood.

This being was seriously injured.

She almost felt pity as she observed it struggling to get up. The young woman opened the door a little more and took one small hesitant step through the doorway.

As soon as she did though, Thea jumped in alarm when it let out a low but weak roar at her.

As soon as the roar ended though, he dropped to the cement floor, and didn't get back up. And she remained standing there trying to get her heart to stop racing.

By the looks of it, the creature had passed out. Most likely due to blood loss and pain.

Now, the thing is what will she do about it now?

Until Next Time ;)
