Artemis had never thought about a male ever joining the Hunt, however her father ordered her to perform the guardian ritual. This only happened because the Hunt was almost wiped entirely of the surface of the Earth. Many months ago, they had almost fallen for a trap that would've killed all of her sisters instantly if not for her father secretly watching. Zeus, the overprotective father he was, couldn't allow this happen again to his favorite daughter. So, he went and cashed in a favor from Hecate to get a guardian summoning spell.
Unbeknownst to him, Hecate may or may not have tampered this particular spell. It would function as normal and summon someone to protect them, but it altered in a way so that the summoner had a chance to summon their soulmate.
Hecate knew Zeus was doing this for his beloved Artemis, so she made this slight alteration. Although it wasn't a 100% chance, Hecate was banking on her expertise in witchcraft and magic that it would succeed. The reason she had done this was because several centuries ago Zeus had "accidentally" struck one of her favorite children with divine lightning and vaporized her poor baby. She absolutely could NOT wait to see to see Zeus' face when he finds out. Now that the seed had been planted, all she had to do now was wait...
Actually, it was quite the opposite... Zeus had thought of this minor detail despite of his brain seemly thinking about women all the time. If his beautiful daughter actually summoned a male guardian, he thought that it wouldn't really be that big of a deal. Before the guardian would even get the chance to touch his daughter, he knew he could count on that man-murdering group of girls his daughter had. So, his mind thought, he shouldn't be worried about his daughter, but the person being summoned. The guardian should probably be worried for himself then about his daughter, from the "small" danger of being slaughtered by that group of girls. Nothing would happen to his little girl. He wasn't afraid of his daughter falling in love and bringing him a son. After all, Artemis had always abided by the rules, and she would never break her maiden oath.
Right?
Anyways, back to Artemis.
Dammit. I should've been more careful... I don't need a stupid guardian. I don't need it if it's a male.
She had delayed for far too long, and frankly Zeus had heard too many excuses. He had enough of his daughter's stalling, and for the life of him just could not understand why his daughter was delaying this for so long. After all, the guardian is there to help, is he not?
Well, there was a specific reason that she was trying to make up excuses not to perform the ritual. She honestly didn't dislike the idea of a guardian, but a small thought had crossed her mind.
I wonder how she going to get along with the girls. Wait... She?
It was because of the off chance that it would summon a male instead of a female, the one thing Zeus had disregarded in his head. She really had tried her best to delay the ritual for as long as she could in hopes of somehow changing his mind. Unfortunately, her father had finally forced her to do so.
It's ok.. If its a male I'll have him do all the chore work.. Have the girls rough him up I suppose... Yeah I'll do that.
She sighed. With her luck, it was bound for it to be a male, she was almost certain her guardian was going to be male. It was a small certainty at first, but the more she thought about it, the more certain she was.
There once was a time, where Artemis wasn't the man-hating goddess that everyone knew her as. A time so long ago that she was still living with her mother on Delos. A time that was so much simpler. Her mother had always told her stories of a knight in shining armor off to save the princess. Young Artemis had always fantasized when her knight in shining armor would come and rescue her off of the island of Delos.
At this, Artemis subconsciously smiled at her younger self, her innocence and oblivion to the real world. Her smile was so beautiful to point, where the moon reflected her current beauty. If anyone saw it they would be immediately dazed and be unable to forget the image of moon.
It wasn't much longer until she would see the dark side of man. That disgusting and sickening side. She witness what they did to young girls, and she began to utterly hate men. They began to sound more and more annoying and sick to look at. They began to look like fake human beings, and it was like all of their actions had a hidden motive. Every word and every action they did was to hide their true nature. To this, she felt enlightened and began to think that she knew the true tendencies of men. She felt like she could see through all of their actions and motives. This actually was one of the things she had inherited from her father.
Just a touch of arrogance and a touch of pride flowed through her.
Artemis later gathered those girls to finally form the Hunters of Artemis, her pride and joy. They have been with her, from thick to thin, and if the world fell apart everything would be alright. They were her sisters, and she was their leader. She had continued to gather more members whether they were mortal, clearsighted, or demigod, she would take them all in. But over the years, she began to notice some of her hunters secretly having relationships with these men. Because of this, she saw a flaw in her line of thinking. Women could also be disgusting sometimes; however, if she had to choose between a man and a woman she would still be inclined to believe a female over a male.
Ok... Time to see whether or not I was worried for nothing.
Artemis took a deep breath as she stood in an open field. Her hunters stood nearby, obviously eager to see what their guardian would look like. They also were expecting another sister to join the group, and a male becoming their guardian did not cross any of their minds.
Her father had already drawn the runic circle with the blood of wolves. The blood seemed to fade into the grass as if it was absorbing the blood's nutrients.
She laid a candle in the center of the blood circle.
This candle was a very special to Artemis. It was given to her on her 7th birthday. It was when she was still obsessed with white knights. She could still remember exactly what had happened that day.

"Artemis, dear. I have a little present for you," her mother, Leto, softly said. She watched with a warm gaze as little Artemis tore open the wrapped gift box.
"Mommy, what is this?" Artemis frowned, making a disappointing face as she held a silver candle up with ancient Greek writing engraved on it.
Little Apollo burst into laughter. "Hey little sis, nice nightlight."
"Shut up and I was born first!"
"Ok. Whatever you say, little sis." Apollo said before laughing again.
She grit her teeth, "Don't make me-"
"Settle down little ones," Leto interrupted. "Don't be so sad dear, this here is a very special candle. It's called the Destinylit Candle. Legend has it that this candle lights up whenever you find someone you like very very much."
Little Artemis didn't say anything and wore a confused face, "Is that it?"
"You'll understand when you grow older," Leto said.
"But I am grown up!" Artemis tried to argue.
"But I'm still older," Apollo added.
"Let's just say, you'll find your knight in shining armor you like so much," she chuckled.
"Really?"
"Yes, really," she confirmed.
"Sis, if you're still crazy about those stories, its no wonder I'm the older one," he said disapprovingly.
Artemis ignored the boy and happily ran off to put it in a very special place.

Artemis closed her eyes and recited, "I, Artemis, beseech thy eyes to bless I with the one who watches. I, by my name, pledge not to harm them in any shape or form while they roam. Εγώ από τις δυνάμεις μου καλώ τον κηδεμόνα!" (Translates to: I by my powers summon the guardian! And yes i used google translate)
The ground began to tremble and quake as if a forbidden power was forcing its way through the earth, and the earth couldn't stop it from coming in. The circle glowed sliver and a beam of faint light shot up to the sky. It was practically invisible to anybody even to the hunters that were nearby.Artemis, despite being in front of the beamwith her superior senses, could barely see it.
A figure appeared around 10 feet in the sky and fell to the ground with a soft thud. This happened so quickly that it had caught Artemis off guard, and she jumped back in surprise. The figure rose their head but let it fall onto the grass as if in defeat and acceptance of what had just happened.
As she stared at the fallen figure, a name popped into her mind as if a someone injected something into her head to let her know who this was.
Perseus.
"Not a happy landing," a male voice muttered.
As the male got up, Artemis realized that she could not see his facial features as if there was a mist blocking her sight and not letting her see who he looked like.
He was wearing a silver jacket, much like her hunters, a black undershirt that read "Get the Juice" in red letters, black jeans, and brown combat boots. He had raven black hair that looked as if the morning wind carefully combed it to the most perfect way possible and silver glowing crescent on his forehead. Unfortunately, Artemis was still unable to see his facial features besides his mesmerizing eyes that were sea-green with a trace of silver. On his side, there was a black and gold sword sheath and on the ground lay a seemly normal wooden bow except it had some silver engravings, that she did not recognize, and quiver of arrows.
"My Lady, I apologize for the er- untimely landing."
