Hello and welcome to the first chapter of my Symphogear/Kamen Rider cross-over story. I'm a big fan of Symphogear and I started reading some crossover fics, primarily because vanilla Symphogear stories are pretty much extinct. And the category that seems to be most popular, much to my delight, was Kamen Rider. To tell you how I got into the series, I have to tell you about our American version of Kamen Rider, Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, which is based on Ryuki. I watched it when I was a kid and for some reason I remembered it when I was older. I got curious and looked up the source and I was amazed to see just how different they are from each other.
To keep it short, I got hooked on Kamen Rider but my favorite one has to be Ryuki since it's the one I grew up with. While I could have picked any other for the story, I feel like Ryuki doesn't get the recognition it deserves and I'm sure some people like me have it as their favorite. I plan to include all 13 Riders and perhaps a few extra that you'll see in the future, but the characters themselves will be completely new. So no Shinji, Ren, Kitaoka, or Asakura though some of them might have a few aspects of their personalities. And for this story, the Kamen Riders are capable of hurting the Noise for reasons that I'll explain in future chapters. Furthermore, they will be far more agile than their live counterparts to make things more dynamic and whatnot. Without further ado, enjoy the story. Since this is the first chapter, it will also be considered a pilot episode. So if there are things you don't like or feel need improvement, do let me know in the reviews so I can bring good material for you guys.
Author's Note(2023): Mirror World and Mirror Monsters will be added in Season 2 and be in full effect in season 3.
Chapter 1
The Day the Angels Fell
"Remind me again why I'm here, Akira."
"Come on, Yosuke, just relax."
Akira Nishitani and Yosuke Yagami stood patiently waiting for Zwei Wing to go on stage. They were currently sitting around in the VIP backrooms, which Akira managed to smoothly secure with their commander."You're only excited because your girlfriend will be singing. You practically HAVE to be excited."
"Ain't that what being in a relationship is all about, though?" Akira grinned. He had short spiky brown hair and brown eyes. He was fairly tall, standing about 6 feet, and had an athletic build. His friend, Yosuke, was a bit shorter than him, peaking at 5'11. In contrast to Akira's short hair, Yosuke had long purple hair tied up in a man-bun behind his head, yellow eyes, and freckles in the middle of his cheeks. Both boys were wearing tuxedos for the special event."Besides, today is our anniversary! We've been dating for a year now and man I'm so freaking nervous!"
"Did you get her a gift?" Yosuke asked, hoping to catch him lacking."You probably didn't, dragon boy."
"Of course I did. Who do you think you're talking to, batman." Akira shot back, giving him a playful wink."It's a surprise though. No one knows. Except for Tsubasa. I had to ask for her help because I don't know anything about what girls are into nowadays. I'm an old-fashioned man. I was going to give her a necklace or something."
"Old-fashioned, huh? Yeah, you need to update yourself." Yosuke shook his head."You're like 20 years behind."
"Aw, like you're any better." Akira ran up to Yosuke, leaping at him where he was sitting on the couch. The purple-haired teen practically threw himself to the floor, barely avoiding being crushed by Akira's weight.
"What the hell?! You could have hurt me!"
"Your reflexes are on point, as always." Akira flipped his body over, crossing his legs on the couch."Not bad. You might be able to give me a good fight next time we spar."
"Not this again...I'm tired of sparring with you. Go fight Goro or something."
"That poor kid has been through my gruesome training enough as is. It's your turn now." Akira showed him his left fist."We won't get stronger if we don't practice. Come on, you know that."
"I knew they were hiding here!" The door practically slammed open, startling the boys. A familiar red-haired stood by the door with a bluenette close by. A young man had his head wrapped around the red-haired's arm. He had shaggy, neck-length brown hair with bangs and reddish-brown eyes."You were right, GoroGoro. Nice going!"
"No problem, Kanaede-san..." Goro grabbed her arm and tried easing her grip on him but found himself overpowered.
"Did you kidnap crabby here or something, babe? What's going on?" Akira immediately jumped from his seat, rushing to hug his girlfriend. Goro was thankful to the heavens that he was now able to breathe and collapse to the ground.
"We're going already." Kanade pulled back from the hug as they grabbed each other's arms."Just wanted to get a good luck kiss from you before we go wild."
"Oh, anything for my radiating sun." He grabbed her shoulders and pulled her for a smooch.
Tsubasa and Yosuke deadpanned at the scene, already accustomed to the couple being so open about their relationship. Goro, on the other hand, had a goofy smile on his face."I love happy endings. Don't you?"
"Be quiet." Yosuke glared at the smaller boy, causing him to recoil."I bet she's been giving you trouble, Tsubasa?"
"I wouldn't say trouble, per se. But she's too energetic for me. I wish I had her confidence." Tsubasa rubbed her left arm."I wouldn't be feeling this way otherwise."
"What are you so nervous about, Tsubasa-senpai?" Goro placed his hands on her hips."You should be feeling pumped, right? You're an idol. You should be able to feel what your audience feels. Or something like that..."
"Goro, stop talking like you know what she's even feeling." Yosuke glared at him."Have you ever been on stage before? Obviously, she's nervous."
"Ah, sorry!" Goro quickly apologized."I'm sorry for being so insensitive, Tsubasa-senpai!"
"N-no, it's okay, Goro-chan." Tsubasa rose her hands, trying to ease his worries."You didn't offend me at all. It's just...there's a lot at stake tonight. So the pressure is on."
"I can imagine." Yosuke offered his sympathies."But it's nothing new, right? You've done this plenty of times before. Besides, we all have different responsibilities, right? You girls handle the stage, us Riders handle the security and the brass handles all the important matters. So just do what you do best. Leave the rest to us."
"Look at you, Yosuke." Akira wrapped his arm around him, ruffling his hair."When did you start giving motivational speeches? Not bad. I might need one later."
"Later? Later for what-"
"Anyway, we should get going. Don't want to keep our fans waiting, do we, Tsubasa?" Kanade jogged over to Tsubasa."We're going together. Nothing can stand in our way as long as we're Zwei Wing."
"Kanade...yes...you guys are right." Tsubasa nodded, finding her courage back."Let's not keep them waiting."
"That's the spirit." Kanade gave her a toothy grin, turning the boys."Hope you guys enjoy the show! We'll see you later!"
With that, the duo exited the backstage area and headed to perform.
"Man, I'm so lucky, it's hard to believe." Akira sighed, dropping down onto the couch and setting his legs on the coffee table.
"What exactly did you mean just now?" Yosuke sat next to him, followed by Goro who sat on the small seat across them."When you said you might need a speech."
"Right. I never told this to anyone. Only Tsubasa. And since none of you know, she did a great job at keeping this a secret." Akira searched for something in his pockets, pulling out a small box from within."Right here."
"No way!" Goro exclaimed, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets."You're going to propose! But you guys are so young still! And not to mention still in school and-"
"Relax, Goro. It's not what you think." Akira chuckled in amusement, his gaze shifting over to his best friend."And you can close your mouth."
"I...believed it for a second. It caught me off guard." Yosuke covered his mouth, still recovering from the sudden shock."Then what is that?"
"A promise ring." Akira clarified to his teammates."It means we're both devoted to our relationship. Not quite like the real deal, but it's almost there. Once we graduate, we can think about that. I mean, she has her life set as an idol and I can get any job thanks to my extensive resume as a Kamen Rider. Maybe I could be a security guard or a bodyguard of some kind. Maybe their bodyguard."
"Tsubasa knew?"
"Yes. How do you think I came up with the idea?" Akira further elaborated."Our anniversary is today after all. But back then I was freaking out about what to do and all. I asked Tsubasa since she's the only girl around my age I know personally and she gave me that advice. She promised to not say anything to anybody. Not even the brass knows."
"What a wonderful idea, Akira-senpai!" Goro jumped in glee."Kanade-senpai will be so happy! You're a genius!"
"Ah, you're giving me too much credit, kid." Akira waved his hand."I'm not that smart. Kanade is my first girlfriend so this is all new to me. Can't believe it's been three years already."
"Crazy how time flies by, especially when you're happy, right?" Yosuke offered a small smile."I'm glad you're both happy together."
"Shouldn't you have given it to her already, though?" Goro cocked his head to the side."I mean, why wait? Surely you must be extremely ecstatic that you just can't wait, right?"
"I mean...yeah, I am. I won't lie." Akira scratched his head."I was tempted to give it to her today as soon as I woke up. But then I figured that if I gave it to her before the concert, it would lose meaning and be less especially impactful, you know. I want to make sure this is the highlight of her day."
"I guess." Goro relented, leaning back in his seat."But I thought that sometimes it's best to do things as soon as we can, even more so regarding these things. I mean, you never know what might happen. No time like the present."
"Goro, he just told you why he doesn't want to do it now." Yosuke shot him a glare."Just let him be. He can decide when to give it to her."
"You're right. Sorry, senpais..." Goro lowered his head in shame.
"Don't sweat it. You're still young." Akira tossed him a can of soda."You'll get more experience as time goes by."
"But he's 15 and you're 17, right? Just a 3-year gap." Yosuke pointed out."You can't be calling us kids like that."
"Hey, I'm the older one, so you don't get to question my decisions." Akira smirked at them."We can have a friendly fight and change that, though. I don't mind a 2 on 1."
"I'll pass." Yosuke eyed the television above them, noting that the concert was about to begin."You're stronger than both of us and more experienced. We'll never stand a chance against you."
"What makes you say that?" Akira folded his arms, disappointed in their behavior."You won't know unless you try."
"No, we do know. Because during training, you kick our assess individually." Yosuke groaned."Together it wouldn't be much of a difference. Not to mention that Goro and I can't really work together. Our fighting styles are completely different."
"So? That's the point of practicing and improving team synergy." Akira rose his index finger."Think about it. There will come a time when you guys won't have me around to lead you. You gotta come up with your strategies or whoever you're fighting alongside. Otherwise, you'll just become deadweight."
"But Akira-senpai, you-" An explosion that could be felt from all the way where the boys went off."W-w-what the-"
"Look!" Yosuke stood up, pointing at the screen. Multicolored beings began to march inside the arena, the fire of the explosion spreading through the stage and causing people to panic."The Noise!"
"Shit! Just when we thought we'd have an easy day today!" Akira immediately jumped to action as his juniors followed him outside the room, each of them taking out their respective Advent Decks as silver belts manifested around their waists."Let's do this! Henshin!"
"Hopefully no one will get hurt...Henshin!" Goro crossed his arms before inserting his Deck in his V Buckle.
"Kanade and Tsubasa are on the clock. They can handle it until we get there! Henshin!" Yosuke brought his arms in front of him, grabbing his Deck with his hands before inserting them. Their bodies began cladding in armor, taking different shapes and colors.
"Kamen Rider Ryuki!" Akira cried out.
"Kamen Rider Knight!" Yosuke declared.
"Kamen Rider Scissors!" Goro chanted, his body clad in bronze-colored armor resembling a crab.
Ryuki reached for his belt, drawing a card from his deck and inserting it in Dragvisor in his left hand."To me, Dragreder!"
Advent: Dragreder
ATK: 5000
A crimson dragon appeared behind them, firing a fireball from its mouth and breaking part of the ceiling. The boys jumped on top of the dragon, taking flight into the sky. Down below, it wasn't a pretty sight. Civilians were being killed left and right by the Noise. Their bodies disintegrated as they were consumed. Ryuki grimaced, hearing the pleas for help but the most horrifying sound was the lack of screams afterward."Dragreder!"
The crimson dragon responded, firing fireballs at the Noise beneath, killing a few of them.
Knight drew a card and immediately inserted it in his Darkvisor."I'm going ahead. We have to spread out!"
Final Vent: Flyinglancer
ATK: 5000
Darkwing, Knight's Advent Monster, equipped itself to Knight's cape along with his weapon, the Winglancer. Jumping off Dragreder, he dived down with a dropkick while holding the Winglancer downward, resulting in it being parallel to his legs and his cape wrapping around him and forming a drill.
"Uh...I don't know if I can do well like Knight." Scissors looked unsure, glancing down below."My attacks don't cover a lot of areas."
"Yeah, I agree. Your Final Vent works better when your enemy has a higher ground than you." Ryuki analyzed the situation, coming up with a plan."Knight can handle himself in a fight alone. You come down with me and we'll get as many civilians out of here as possible."
"Y-you got it, boss man!" Scissors saluted, though he felt way out of his depth.
"Alright!" Ryuki nodded, commanding his monster to descend while firing fireballs around."Get ready!"
Both Riders drew a card and activated it.
Sword Vent: Dragsaber
ATK: 2000
Strike Vent: Scissorspinch
ATK: 1000
Knight collided against one of the bigger Noise, piercing through it and landing on the other side.
"Yosuke!" Tsubasa cried out, glad to see reinforcements had arrived.
"Things aren't looking good. There's too many of them." Knight said, using his Darkvisor as a weapon and piercing through the smaller Noise surrounding them.
"Where are the others?!" Kanade gritted her teeth, blocking the projectiles shot towards her.
"Right over here!" Ryuki slashed a noise in half, kicking another one away."Goro, how are the civilians?!"
"Almost all out!" Scissors responded, carrying a small child on his back and her sister running behind them."Don't look behind, no matter what!"
"W-what?!" In effect, behind the older girl, dog-like Noise ran after them.
'Crap, they're catching up!' Goro was panicking, and he could only imagine what the girls must be feeling. He patted the child on his back gently."Hold onto me and don't let go!"
Scissors drew a card, using his now free hands to use his Scissorsvisor.
Advent: Volcancer
ATK: 3000
His Contract Monster rushed towards the Noise, tackling them to the ground but was quickly overwhelmed. This bought them a few extra seconds they needed, allowing Scissors to drop off the girl and hand her to her sister when they neared the exit."Run! Get to safety!"
"Thank you!" The older sister grabbed onto her sibling's hand, and both of them ran out of the stadium. Scissors sighed in relief but were not out of danger yet. The Noise had caught up to him and had him surrounded, ready to attack.
The young boy trembled in fear, his hands not moving to draw a card from his deck.
"What are you doing, Goro?!"
Just then a total of eight Knights rushed to his aid, slashing through the Noise in front."Now's not the time to freeze up! Move it!"
"Y-Yosuke-senpai!" Scissors fought the urge to cry, happy to see his senior."Sorry, it's just..."
"Yes, I know." The real Knight huffed after being launched across the area by a Noise."You're not suited to fight this many opponents. Then again, who is?"
"We can be what we want!" Ryuki declared, using his Strike Vent to punch a Noise as Dragreder erupted from it and crashed against a pile of Noise. Ryuki backflipped away from the acid being spit by one of the big Noise. He landed back to back with Kanade, both of them panting."How are you holding up, babe?"
"Not so great. And by the looks of it, you aren't either." Kanade frowned upon seeing the broken bits of his armor.
"You're saying I don't look good?" Ryuki joked, trying to ease the mood a bit despite their circumstance."I can't say the same about yo-"
The big Noise threw up the acid-like liquid from its mouth, hitting Ryuki right in the head, and launching him away. Thankfully, the attack only got to the right upper side of his head but half of his helmet was gone. The same Noise fired again, but Akira quickly drew a card and used it.
Guard Vent: Dragshield
Guard: 2000
Two shields derived from segments of Dragreder's body were equipped to Ryuki's arms, successfully blocking the attack before they shattered after not being able to take more.
"AKIRA!" Kanade screamed in concern, only to be attacked from all angles by the Noise in response.
Ryuki groaned, holding the exposed part of his face."Shit... there are too many and they don't give us any time to regroup. At this rate..." As he scanned his surroundings, he noticed a single person who had remained still as a statue watching from afar."No way...why is there a civilian still here?!"
Knight was in a similar situation as everyone else. His clones were gone and were running out of options. He continued defending himself with his Winglancer as best as he could. A Noise was about to come up behind him, but Tsubasa slashed the creature away with her katana.
"Thanks, Tsubasa." Knight nodded, using his weapon as support.
"You okay?" Tsubasa ran to him, helping him up.
"Yeah...Just...trying to come up with a plan. I think I can kill a bunch with my Final Vent but I'm burning a lot of energy. Kanade and Ryuki aren't doing any better and Goro will be the first to go down."
"His inexperienced added with the weak power he was given won't make for a good result." Tsubasa bit down her lower lip."But it's not like either of us can go and protect him. He'll have to work things out himself."
"I don't know if we can kill them all and get away unscathed." Knight grimly said."I can't come up with anything and we're running out of time. Take Kanade and Goro and get out of here."
"What?! What about you and Akira?!"
"We'll work something out." Knight gritted his teeth under his mask."Akira...always manages to save the day. And I'll make sure it happens again!"
Nasty Vent: Sonicbreaker
ATK: 1000
Darkwing appeared above Knight, releasing a supersonic screech that paralyzed the Noise.
"Now, Tsubasa!" Knight jumped in the air, preparing for his attack while Tsubasa charged ahead.
Final Vent: Flyinglancer
ATK: 5000
Once more, Knight took flight in the air, but before he could begin his attack, flying Noise fired their attacks at him, causing him to fall back to the ground. Tsubasa managed to slash a coupe of Noise before a tentacle wrapped around her leg and threw her at Knight, crashing into him. He tried to gently lift her off him, but in that instance his armor dissipated, leaving him exposed.
"Oh, no..." He shivered in fear once his power had run out.
Meanwhile, the bleachers were beginning to fall apart and rocks were falling from the sky after a Noise blasted part of the stadium apart. The sole remaining civilian was none the wiser for the giant rock that was falling in her direction.
"No!" Akira tried to go for her aid but was forced to stop an attack from a Noise which his arms, his armor shattering further.
Final Vent: Scissors Attack
ATK: 4000
Volcancer emerged from the ground, launching Scissors up in the air. He curled up in a ball, spinning rapidly in the air and smashing the rock to pieces. Unable to control his landing, Scissors landed next to the girl in question.
"Ow...Still having trouble landing..." Scissors tried rubbing his head but only felt his mask."Oh, right. The mask..."
"A-a-are you okay?" The girl finally reacted to her surroundings after being frozen in shock.
"Yes!" Scissors winced upon forcing himself up despite his body hurting."Don't worry, ma'am, I'll take you to a safe place-"
Before he could finish his sentence, the ground beneath them finally gave him. Scissors acted quickly and grabbed the innocent girl, protecting her from the fall with his body. Thankfully, his armor was tough enough to withstand such a fall, but he had used a lot of his energy, and his armor dissipated in the air.
"N-not now..." Goro glanced at his naked hands."Not now..."
"Look!" The girl pointed at the Noise that was running towards them.
Goro was scared, beyond terrified. All he could do was get down with the girl and closed their eyes, afraid to face their fate.
A fireball vaporized some of the incoming Noise and the ones remaining were cut in half by Ryuki's sword.
"Akira!" Goro beamed, fresh tears streaming down his cheeks.
"Stay back, Goro! Run as soon as I give you an opening and take that girl to safety!" Akira glanced over his shoulder, his eyes meeting with the girl's." It's okay. You'll be okay. We won't let them hurt you. A Kamen Rider protects those who can't protect themselves and fight for what's right, after all."
"Kamen...Rider...?" The girl parroted, being helped up by Goro.
'I said all that but...' Akira glared at his foes.'I'm afraid that this might be it. I have to get everyone out of here.'
Ryuki reached for his pocket, pulling out the small box containing the rings.'I guess Goro was right after all. I should have given them to her when I had the chance. But at least I can get her out of here and make sure she lives. If I can do that, I'll die with no regrets.'
"Akira!" Goro alerted his senpai.
Ryuki gasped, alarmed that his enemies were already on top of him. He blocked a Noise's attack with his gauntlet, but another managed to slap away the box."No!"
In a panic, Ryuki dashed to grab the box, leaving him open for attacks. The giant Noise launched its acid-like attack, hitting the Dragon Rider head-on. Ryuki screamed in pain, his body burnt in various parts and his armor not being able to withstand more punishment.
"Akira!" Goro tried running towards him, but the older young man held his arm out.
"Stay back!" Akira barked, watching as the Noise prepared another attack. This time, Kanade was the one who got in front of them, using her spear to block as much of the attack as she could. However, the combined attack of the Noise was so powerful that her armor broke into fragments. One of them managed to pierce through the girl in their care.
Goro immediately set her on the ground, his breathing erratic when he realized how much she was bleeding."W-w-what do I do?!"
"Shit..." Akira stumbled over to them, only to fall a few inches away from them when his body gave out.
Kanade landed next to them, her gaze going from her boyfriend to the wounded girl. This was too much to process, even for her. The day had started so nice and perfect.
"Take the boys and Tsubasa...and get out of here." Akira grabbed his Advent Deck."I still got some fight left in me...I'll distract them so you can escape..."
"And what, so you can die?" Kanade squatted down in front of him."So I can live another day knowing the person I love the most gave up his life for me? Not happening. Don't give up on living. All of you need to live. In my stead...live."
"W-what?" Akira couldn't believe what he just heard."What are you saying, Kanade...?"
"I'm sorry..." Kanade cupped his face with her hands, gently caressing his cheeks."I wished we spent more time together. But these years...have been the best years of my life. My only regret is that we never got to spend our lives together like we said we would..."
"Kanade, I-"
"Take care of them for me. They'll need someone to look up to." Kanade gave a final kiss on Akira's forehead before grabbing her spear and walking up to the Noise."This will be my final song."
"Kanade, don't!" Tsubasa screamed after her friend. Knight grabbed her arm, pulling her away to escape the attack.

Akira's silent scream could not reach Kanade's ears once she released her Superb Song. Her power was unleashed, releasing a shockwave that destroyed every single Noise in the stadium. As she had said, the power came at a high cost. She quickly fell to the ground, her body slowly breaking apart. Akira finally found the strength to get up and ran as if his life depended on it to Kanade. Yosuke deactivated his armor, releasing his hold on Tsubasa who wasted no time rushing towards her friend. Both of them collapsed to their knees and held the red hair up, sobbing uncontrollably. They could only cry as Kanade's body crumbled away from existence.
'I couldn't tell her in time.'
Those words kept echoing in Akira's mind, staring idly at the box he was holding in his hand.'Today was supposed to be a happy day...'
"Kanade..." Yosuke grabbed his forehead, not believing that his friend was gone like the wind.
Akira slowly turned his head to Tsubasa, who had curled up in a ball and was wailing. He then shifted his gaze to Yosuke."I couldn't tell her in time."
"I'm sure...she knew how much you loved her. If she hadn't done that, we would all have died." Yosuke tried to reason.
"I'm a failure." Akira muttered, completely dejected."I let the girl I love die just like that...Couldn't protect anyone...I'm such a shitty Kamen Rider..."
"Don't say that!" Yosuke quickly interjected."We did all we could!"
"And it wasn't enough..." A smile formed on Akira's face."I guess...in the end, no matter how much we struggle...we just can't change some things. No...there is a way to fix this. To make things better."
"W-what...do you mean?" Yosuke hesitantly asked.
"I can take all of this back!" Akira's smile widened, almost looking demented and his eyes as wide as they could be."There is a way. And only I can do it. Hear my words, Gamemaster!"
"What are you doing?!" Yosuke ran up to Akira to stop him, only to get socked in the face and knocked down."Akira...?!"
"I know you can hear me! If you're this all-powerful entity as you claim to me, then heed my challenge!" Akira rose his Deck in the air."Come face me! I challenge you to a fight! Just you and me!"
"What is he doing?" Tsubasa looked up to the sky and she could swear she saw something flying down toward them. It looked like a small tornado, covered in gold dust.
A being covered in golden armor and a black bodysuit landed in front of them, holding a staff.
"It can't be...that's another Kamen Rider?" Tsubasa worded out, covering her eyes from the intense light emanating from the entity in front of them.
Once the light died down, they were able to fully stare at the new Rider.
"I have heard your words." Was all he said, his voice echoing and carrying a sense of superiority."And answered your call."
"Good." Akira smirked, immediately transforming into Ryuki."Then you know why you're here."
"Akira-senpai..." Goro, who had transformed back into Scissors, was carrying the wounded girl in his arms. He suppressed his urge to help his friend and instead flee from the arena in hopes of being able to save the girl in time.
"How unfortunate. The Symphogear passed away because she wanted to protect her loved ones. And yet, you want to throw that away by challenging me?"
"It's not throwing away if I can beat you."
"I do not recommend you engage me in combat right now. You are wounded, and even if you were at full power, you are still far too weak to ever compete with someone like me. I understand why you're upset. She was close to me as well."
"Close...to him?" Tsubasa parroted, not understanding what he meant.
"You said it yourself! You entrusted this power to us because this is a game to you, isn't it?! You said that the Rider who beats you will have any wish granted! I'll take you down right now and wish for...wish for...Kanade to come back!"
"You have a new fire in your eyes." The mysterious Rider praised."Very well. I, Kamen Rider Odin, accept your challenge."
"Did he say Odin?!" Tsubasa gawked in horror.
"Don't do it..." Yosuke could only stare at his friend who circled around Odin, who didn't even seem to acknowledge him.
Sword Vent: Dragsaber
ATK: 2000
Ryuki gave a battle cry as he rushed to meet Odin.
"Humanity is truly intriguing. For someone they love, they are willing to face challenges without a second thought." The golden Rider vanished in time as Ryuki slashed the air, appearing behind him."Despite their motivation, they will always fail."
Ryuki turned on his heels, ready to strike again but Odin easily slapped him away, sending him rolling on the ground.
"Damn it..." Akira quickly stood up again, running at Odin.
"You are the best thing that happened to my life." He recalled his words, pointlessly swinging at Odin who kept teleporting around him and striking him back.
"I doubt that." Kanade responded, bashful."I'm sure if we didn't meet you would have found someone else and still be as happy."
Ryuki coughed up blood under his helmet when Odin kneed him in the gut, shattering the armor protecting his torso. He quickly drew a card, but Odin easily kicked it out of his hand.
"No. Your personality is what drew me in. And gave me strength. Your bravery inspired me to always keep going with a smile on my face and give others courage. Nothing seems to deter you."
"Hey, you're giving me too much credit. My motivation is you. Because I want to make you happy as well. If you weren't around, I wouldn't try half as hard. You say I'm special but you are too. Your optimism and sense of justice inspire others. They inspired me."
Strike Vent: Dragclaw
Ryuki shot fireballs at Odin, who countered by using his Guard Vent.
Guard Vent: Goldshield
Defense: 4000
Odin marched towards Ryuki, blocking everything with his shield. Once he was closed enough, he smashed Ryuki over the head with it before delivering a powerful roundhouse kick, shattering a few ribs.
"Say...how about we take a nice long vacation after the incoming concert? We can take the gang and enjoy ourselves for a bit."
"You want to say just the two of us, don't you? I know you as I know myself, Akira. And I'd love to. We'll have to talk to old man Genjuro about it, though."
Ryuki panted, trying to catch his breath. No matter how much he tried to land a single hit, Odin was as pristine as he was when he came.
"I am disappointed. You were my favorite amongst the Riders." Odin drawled, sprouting wings."But you rushed to your death in desperation, merely deluding yourself if you ever had a chance to see your wish granted. A shame. I suppose that after you die another Ryuki will just have to pick up your slack."
"It's not over yet, asshole." Ryuki drew his final card, activating one was special. In contrast to his other cards, this one had his symbol on it. "I'm taking you down and bringing Kanade back!"
Final Vent: Dragon Rider Kick
ATK: 6000
"Very well." Odin finally made his move, drawing a card from his golden Advent Deck."Show me your resolve before you die."
Sword Vent: Goldsabers
ATK: 4000
A pair of twin blades appeared in Odin's arms, watching impassively as Ryuki jumped in the air with Dragreder behind him. The dragon breathed fire, propelling Ryuki into a flying kick at Odin. The God-like Rider kicked the ground beneath him, meeting Ryuki in the air. He evaded his kick, slashing his back up to his neck. The dragon Rider fell to his knees and before he could get him, a blade was stabbed into his heart.
"Game over." Odin said, watching as blood tainted his sword."You lose and by extension, your life ends." Odin picked up the Ryuki Deck.
"AKIRA!" Yosuke and Tsubasa cried in unison. The purple-haired teen wobbled over, barely missing Odin as he disappeared once more."Akira! Akira!"
Akira was long dead, however, no matter how loud Yosuke screamed. The one thing his body was clinging to was the box containing the promise rings that would never fulfill their objective. His body turned to dust, leaving only the box behind as the last thing of his possession.
And that settles things for the first chapter. I was originally going to make this shorter but I realized that I needed to expand on some things, primarily the characters, and set things up for the future. I opted for incorporating the attack names of the Riders and will most likely do the same for the Symphogear. I also decided to add the attack and defense, but if you feel that's unnecessary, let me know. Also, some of you might be surprised to see Odin this early on and yes, he will have a similar role to the one Kanzaki had but will be different as well, so look forward to that.
