The Hound of Arc
"Pack your bags. I'm bringing you home."
Jeanne Arc had no idea that seven words could turn her world upside down, her bright blue eyes were glued to the screen of her scroll, glancing up to double-check the name. Baby Bro. Jaune was here.
But her life was just starting to turn around, and things were great for her. She got accepted into Beacon, made a bunch of friends, and even became her team's leader. Not only that, but she was doing great in her classes, sure she was still far behind in combat, but she had Pyrrha training her, a four-time champion.
Maybe she could hide, he couldn't take her back if he couldn't find her, right? Wrong, she would still have to go to class. Also, he could just go see Ozpin, and they would make her come to the office… She was doomed.
A new message appeared. "You do know the scrolls tell me when you've read my message." She sunk deeper into her chair.
"What's wrong with you, Vomit Girl?" Picking up her head after hearing Yang speak, Jeanne saw that all her friend's eyes were on her as they were in the middle of a group study session. Pyrrha placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Are you feeling well, Jeanne?" the redhead asked, she was always so caring.
Looking around, she saw the concern on each of her faces. She would have to leave them. She didn't want to them. She didn't want to.
"I-I don't want to leave." Tears slowly streamed down her cheeks.
Pyrrha was the first one up in a panic. "Jeanne! What's wrong what happened!?"
She felt the rest of her team gather around her to comfort her, but her teary eyes went back to her scroll. "My brother is here to take me home."
"I don't see the problem," She heard Weiss speak still from her seat. "You've complained about being homesick before, and now you have a chance to visit."
"It won't be a visit," Jeanne let out a small sniffle. "He's taking me home to stay."
"What!? Why!?" Ruby yelled right next to her ear.
"I… ran away from home to come here," She looked down, disappointed in herself. "I… didn't tell my family I was here until after I got in."
"Oh… Yeah, that's pretty… bad." Yang patted her on her back.
"And Jaune must have gotten home, and Mom sent him to get me."
"B-b-but." She could hear Ruby racking her brain for anything idea.
"We could hide you," Nora threw out as an idea. "If he can't find you, you can't go home. Ha ha."
"Nora, we have class." Ren shut down the idea.
"You are all overthinking this," Weiss spoke up again. "Jeanne, you're an adult. No one can force you to leave."
"Yeah, Weiss is right!" Ruby cheered. "We're adults."
"I did not say we, Child."
Ruby's cheeks puffing up at her partner did make Jeanne feel a bit better about the situation. The only problem was, "If Jaune speaks to Ozpin, I can still be sent home."
"Why is your family so dead set on bringing you home anyway?" Yang asked. "They know it's your dream to come here, right?"
"…Remember how good I was when I first got here?"
"But- but you're like ten times better since then!" Ruby added.
"Jaune doesn't know that."
"We could knock him out and ship him back home!" Nora suggested.
"Or… We could try talking to him," Pyrrha countered. "You two care about each other, right."
"We're twins, we always had each other's back."
"Then what would make this time different?"
"… The fact I threw myself into a murder school to fight monsters?"
"What better place to train and learn how to fight monsters?" Blake entered the conversation. "Jeanne, any point he brings up, you have a counter to, and at the end of the day, it is up to Ozpin, who will most likely side with his students."
It was all very sound logic and points.
"Alright, let's do this."
"I can't do this."
The two teams were making their way to the landing pad, where her brother was waiting for her. With every step, she had a mini panic attack, she hadn't even seen Jaune for the better part of a year, and this is how they'll see each other, at odds.
"You gotta chill, Jojo." Yang swung her arm around Jeanne, leaning against her fellow blond. "It's just your brother."
"That's the problem, when Jaune sets his mind to something, it's hard to get him to change it."
"The worse he can do is be mad," Blake spoke from behind her. "You just need to be brave and face your family."
"You guys really don't understand-"
"Jeanne!"
Her body froze up as a familiar voice called her name, with her standing at the front of the pack, there was no one to protect her from what was to come as two arms wrapped around her and lifted her off her feet into a big annoying hug.
"It's so good to see you! I missed you so much!"
"Heeey, Jaune." She was able to ekk out under the pressure from the hug. She was able to look back at her friends, whom all wore a 'This will be easy' expression. Jaune… didn't look like someone who would give anyone trouble. He was tall, taller than anyone on either team, wearing jeans, sneakers, and a hoodie with the Pumpkin Pete's rabbit on it. His hair was cut short, while hers was long enough to reach down to her thighs, but other than that, it wasn't hard to tell they were twins, skin, eyes, hair color, and even noses.
She felt her feet touch the ground as Jaune set her down so they could look eye to eye. Even though she was the older sibling Jaune towered over her. "Welp, let's go home."
"Uhh yeah, about that…" She looked back at her friends, some giving thumbs up and others giving her small nods. She knew she could do this, she was strong, and she turned back to her brother. "Jaune… I'm not coming home with you."
"Yes, you are."
"Okay." She was weak.
"Jeanne!" Luckily, she wasn't alone, she felt herself become quickly surrounded by her friends, putting her in a protective bubble with Pyrrha and Yang leading the charge.
"Look, Buddy, the lady said she isn't going with you," Yang spoke up.
"Yeah, No means No!" Nora helped.
"But you are more than welcome to leave." Pyrrha finished as the others agreed.
Jaune looked at the group, slowly sizing them with his now sharpened eyes before he let out a sigh. "Look, this is a family matter, and I would like to talk to my sister alone."
Jaune took a single step forward before Yang shoved him back and away from them. "She can hear just fine from here."
He took another deep breath letting out a bigger sigh as he fixed his hoodie.
"Jeanne." He looked past them and right to her. "This is starting to get a bit out of hand, and I've already had a long day, now can we just please go home."
"Why do I have to go home?"
"You ran away in the middle of the night." He held up one finger.
"Mom wasn't going to just let me go."
"For good reason because point two." Another finger came up. "You barely have any combat training."
"I'm getting better."
"Point three, you took my weapon."
"I couldn't sneak mine out!"
"Only good point you've made." He was at least still reasonable. "Point four, you have not called home."
"Mom's going to be mad at me."
"Shocking." He pinches the bridge of his nose. "Jeanne… Look, you know, I know you want to be here. But I can't allow you to get yourself hurt or, worse killed."
"But you go on missions all the time."
"Because I'm trained and able to protect myself while you're-"
"I'm what, Jaune?" His mouth shut quickly, holding his tongue. She knew what he was going to say, didn't matter what words he used, they all had the same definition. "I'm weak and helpless?"
"No, no, no, that was not-" He was shoved back again as he took a step forward, but this time by both team's powerhouses. Yang and Pyrrha took a step forward, giving them more space apart. Jaune glared at the pair. "Stop pushing me."
"Then stay back." Pyrrha matched his tone.
"Or better yet, leave," Yang added.
The protective bubble got tighter, making it hard for her to see him, but she could still hear him as he let out another sigh. "Can you please… move out of my way and let me talk to my sister."
"We believe you've said enough." Pyrrha held firm.
"This has nothing to do with you."
"It has everything to do with us!" Ruby yelled from the head of the bubble. "Jeanne's our friend!"
"And she's my sister," He looked to the shorter leader. "And I know I care more about her than some group of random people."
"You don't care about her." She saw Jaune stop and look toward Yang.
"What did you just say to me?"
"You don't care about her." She walked up to him, so they were face to face, glaring at each other. "Because what type of caring sibling tries to crush their sister's dream?"
"You don't know anything about me."
"Don't need to." She leaned in, looking him dead in his eyes. "I can tell she deserves a better twin than you."
"Yang!" Jeanne yelled at her, but that was a mistake because as Yang looked back, Jaune threw a violent hook right at her, only for him to freeze mid-swing. Even with the purple glow around him, she could see Jaune's hand still shaking, and Yang turned to see the punch was only an inch away from her head.
"Jaune Arc," Everyone turned to see Professor Goodwitch standing off to the side with headmaster Ozpin. "You need to calm down."
His eyes shifted toward the Professor's, and she could hear him let out another sigh before the hold was off him. Her gaze shifted quickly to the whole group with a glare that could kill. "Now, what is the meaning of all this?"
"Indeed," Ozpin finished a sip from his mug. "I would love to know what brought The Hound of Arc to my school, last we spoke, you said you wouldn't ever step foot here."
"You know damn well why I'm here, old man!" Jaune was glaring daggers at the headmaster. "You allowed my sister into your school knowing she could've been killed!"
"I do not know what you mean, Mr. Arc." He took another sip. "All of her papers were in order."
"Those were my transcript!" She could see the anger in Jaune rising towards Ozpin. "You already knew she never went to combat school, and you knew those were my transcript that you filled when you tried to get me to come here. But instead of taking no for an answer, you take my sister.
"Hmm, I do not understand what you mean, Mr. Arc," Ozpin took another sip happily before smiling at Jaune. "Miss Arc came of her own free will, and she passed the initiation with flying colors."
"I am going to ki-!"
"Jaune!" His head snapped to Jeanne as she walked free from the bubble and up to him. She could see all the anger and tension drop as she stopped before him. "Jaune… You're right. I shouldn't have done what I did. It was dumb of me."
He went to speak, but she swiftly cut him off.
"It's my turn to talk, Jaune."
He quickly understood what that meant and backed down, just watching her.
"You're right, I wasn't ready to be here. When I first arrived, I didn't even have any aura, I didn't know how to fight any Grimm, and they threw me off a cliff for my first test. If it wasn't for Pyrrha, I don't know what would have happened to me. She saved me, then I found a group of friends who helped me along the way, and I'm still years behind them, and I don't know if I will ever catch up."
"J-"
"Ruby, please." She looked back to her fellow leader, who just nodded. "Thank you."
She turned back to her brother, who just waited for her to continue.
"I know I've never been strong, or tough, or even brave. That's always been your thing, and I know I can never even think about getting to your level. But I can't stop from trying, Jaune. So much has changed since I came here, I've become a leader. I have people counting on me now, and I can't let them down, they're my friends, they're like another family. I can't abandon them, we Arcs must protect our family."
She could see his eyes shift away from her slightly, rubbing the back of his neck before returning to her gaze. "You have to stay here?"
"I am staying here."
"Fine…" She smiled at his word. "You're going to have to fight me."
Her smile dropped hard into a shocked look. "Wha?"
"You're going to have to fight me and prove to me you belong here."
"I can't beat you!" She argued. "You're the best fighter I know!"
"And?"
"That's not even close to a fair fight Jaune!"
"Welcome to the life of a Huntsmen."
"I must agree with Miss Arc," Ozpin spoke.
"Thankfully, no one asked you." Jaune looked at him only to meet Professor Goodwitch's stare. "… Sorry."
"How about we even the odds by allowing her to pick some of her friends to aid her in this fight." Ozpin offered, clearly not shutting the whole idea down. "This could be her last time."
"Whatever, fine by me." Jaune huffed.
"Isn't there another way so we don't have to fight?"
"Come home?"
"Jaune, I'm not coming home."
"Then you need to fight me." He looked at her.
She let out a sigh before turning back and looking at her friends. Each of them was ready for this fight. "And I can pick whoever I want?"
"As long as it's not Glynda or the rat-faced fu-"
"Jaune." Ms. Goodwitch called him.
"-Or Ozpin."
She looked at him with a bit of confidence. "Then I pick all of them."
He just smiled at her. "Good."
Every ounce of confidence just melted away from Jeanne after gearing up and stepping into the arena, across from Jaune, who was waiting patiently, leaning against a spear.
She felt a hand touch her shoulder, she didn't need to look but still turned to face Pyrrha, who wore a reassuring smile. "We got this, Jeanne, you're not going anywhere."
"Yeah!" Nora cheered. "It's eight v one, jerkface is going down."
"Nora, he is still her brother," Ren said before looking up at Jaune. "But I agree."
"I really wish you guys wouldn't underestimate him," Jeanne pulled her sword from its sheath as it turned into its shield form.
"So, what's the planned, Jeanne?" Ruby spoke from her left with the rest of her team at her side.
"You should have spoken about that while you gathered your arms." Ms. Goodwitch said, shutting down the conversation. "We will be using standard tournament rules for the bout between Team's JNRP and RWBY vs. Jaune Arc. I assume you remember the rules, Mr. Arc?"
"Yes, Ma'am." He eyed up the opposing lineup with a grin. "Just have to knock their aura to fifteen percent or send them out of the ring. Simple."
"I can't wait to knock that smug smile off his face." She heard Yang mumble.
"You may begin at the buzzard." Ms. Goodwitch spoke as she stepped out of the ring, and a countdown began.
"So that plan?" Ruby asked, leaning slightly over to her fellow leader.
"Jaune doesn't use guns, our parents didn't believe in them, so…" The horn sounded. "Light him up!"
From rifles to pistols and even a grenade launcher, both teams fired upon Jaune.
All save for Jeanne, who watched him closely as he was using his spear to block as many bullets as he could, dodging others and letting his aura take the few that slipped past. He couldn't keep it up forever though as they kept him at bay until he swatted down one of Nora's grenades at his feet, concealing him in a pink cloud of smoke.
"I gotta reload." She heard Nora say, as did Jaune, his spear flew from the cloud right at Nora. Jeanne turned to yell out a warning, but Ren was faster, already pushing her out of the way, barely dodging it himself. Sadly, he couldn't dodge Jaune as the lone blond male bull rushed Ren, scooping him onto his shoulder and charging away from the others.
Reaching his spear, which had embedded itself into the ground, Jaune chucked Ren, sending him flying onto his back, but Ren recovered quickly, rolling onto his feet only to be met with a spear as Jaune swung it like an oversized baseball bat, hitting him in the chest and sending him flying out the ring like a homerun.
Jaune turned with a smug grin just as Pyrrha and Yang reached him.
he was quick to fend them off, buying them a bit of time. As he was hyper-focused on trying to take down their two best fighters.
"Well, that didn't work."
"Thanks for the hindsight, Weiss, very uplifting." Jeanne said, wincing as Jaune slammed the butt of his spear into Yang's chin.
"We can't just stand here, we have to help!" Nora stepped forward.
Jeanne shook her head. "We'll get in each other's way, some of us have way too big of weapons to fight close quarters as a group." Nora and Ruby looked at their Hammer and Scythe. "What we need is a way to widdle him down, Ruby do you have any hit-and-run moves?"
"Oh yeah, we've been working on something." Ruby and Blake looked at one another with a nod.
Pyrrha was the first to reach the smug jackass and swung her blade down at him, only for him to parry and her to block with her shield. Yang couldn't let her have all the fun as she threw a jab, discharging a shot from her gauntlet, and only nicked his hair as he dodged. The redhead champion was fast, but to both their surprise, he was able to keep up with the pair like it was nothing, but he couldn't land a hit on Pyrrha. Yang was a different story, as the butt of his spear slammed into her chin, causing her to stagger back.
"Jackass!" The blond powerhouse yelled. Firing three shots at him, only for him to block each one while dodging Pyrrha's attacks. "Pyrrha, I can't get a shot!"
"Pyrrha!" Jeanne yelled out as a gust of roses blew past Yang. "Fall back!"
Pyrrha was quick to listen when Jeanne spoke, jumping away from the Jerk just as Ruby flew past him, slashing him with her scythe at high speeds.
"Maximum Ladybug!" Ruby called as Weiss sent out two beams of white light, and clocks glyphs appeared under Blake and Ruby. With their speed increased, the pair dashed passed Jaune, slashing him as they crossed, quickly turning to do it again and again, the pair kept it up as Jaune dropped to a knee and slammed his spear into the ground with a growl. As they flew by after another hit, Ruby nearly choked herself as her cloak was tugged, she looked back to see Jaune's fist coming right at her face, and she only had one plan for this.
"Ah! I Bruise easy!" She yelled, holding her hands up to try and block, but the impact never came.
"I got you, Rubes!" Yang said, her arm hooked in his stopping him.
"Th-" A sudden kick to Ruby's chest sent her flying before Yang felt a fist hit her on the side of her head. Staggering her long enough for Jaune to drive a foot into her side and sending her sailing as well. She eyed Pyrrha and Blake rushing at him before sliding onto the ground to see Jeanne standing over her.
"You, okay?" her fellow blond asked.
"I feel like a brick hit me in the head," Yang said, popping back to her feet with a hand from Jeanne, she turned to see a cloud of dust begun to form from Jaune fending off Blake and Pyrrha, his spear craving into the arena floor with each swing. "I'm going back in."
Blake jumped out of the cloud and landed near the others, leaving Pyrrha alone in there.
"Jeanne, what is with your brother?" Blake huffed. "He's not getting tired, if anything he's getting stronger."
"That's his semblance… Madness Enhancement." Jeanne let out a sigh. "The angrier he gets, the stronger he becomes."
"We're fighting someone throwing a temper tantrum?"
Weiss rolled her eyes, "Do you have any room to talk, Yang?" She stuck her tongue out at Weiss. "Anyway, how do we stop him?"
"By the looks of his aura, we are going to have to knock him out of the ring," Jeanne said, readying herself.
Yang glanced up at the aura meters overhead on the big screen but quickly had to do a double take. "What?"
"How!?" She heard Blake yell. "We've been hitting him so much."
Jaune Arc: 89%
Pyrrha leaped from the dust cloud, landing beside the other coughing dust free from her lungs. Yang looked towards to cloud to see Jaune slowly emerge from within, his blue eyes now a glowing red.
"Okay, he's clearly copying me."
"We're older than you." Jeanne snipped back. "Anyway, plan, Pyrrha, Yang, Blake, you three are with me, we have to try and hold him down. Nora, when we do knock him out of the ring. Ruby, and Weiss, support us from range and try to figure out a way to slow him down. Good? Charge!"
Jeanne didn't give them a moment to answer as she rushed forward, but she could hear them following in behind her. She knew Jaune would charge them, he always charged when he got mad. Jeanne swung her blade as she slid to a stop, missing her twin who ducked and knocked her legs from underneath her. She had not even fully hit the ground before he engaged Pyrrha and Yang once more. Ducking jabs and dodging slashes, the pair kept him in between them, giving Jeanne the chance to get up and rush up behind him and drove her full body into the back of Jaune's knee, forcing him to kneel. Pyrrha, Yang, and Blake followed her lead, restraining him. Yang grabbed his spear with both hands, driving it into the ground while Pyrrha and Blake slammed Pyrrha's Shield into his back. "Nora, now!"
"Got it." She grinned, leaping over and landing next to the dogpile, cocking back her hammer. The others barely had time to get out of the way as she swung it into the spear, snapping it in half and smashing into Jaune's chest, sending him skipping across the arena floor, sliding to a stop near the edge motionless.
"Wooo!" Yang cheered. "That's what I'm talking about Nora!"
But Jeanne was too worried about her brother to cheer, hearing a pained groan, she worried Jaune was badly hurt. "Jaune…" She called out softly. "Jaune, are you okay? We can stop this if your hurt, don't push yourself."
Jaune slowly rolled away from the edge, getting onto his hands and knees huffing for air.
"Jaune, we can get the nurse-"
He slammed a fist down, cracking the ground under him as he unleashed a roar as black smoke burst out of him. Her eyes widen in horror. "Nora! knock him out of the ring!"
Her yelling shocked the bombastic redhead from her staring, turning to Jeanne.
"Nora hurry!"
Taking off at full speed, Nora cocked her hammer back once more, swinging it right at his chest only for him to catch it mid-swing, completely halting it as he got back to his feet. He towered over the girl by at least a foot, and it showed as she was forced to look up at him.
"Uhh…" Nora gave the hammer a small tug, but it didn't budge. Jaune tugged back and slammed his head into hers, forcing her to release the hammer and grab her face. She barely had a chance to let out a yell before he sent her flying out of the ring by slamming her own hammer into her. Luckily Ren was there to catch her, knocking them both to the floor. "Owwww…"
"Move!" Jeanne yelled, turning everyone's attention back to Jaune, who was already in mid-air swinging the hammer down. Everyone scattered, some making it far enough to avoid the shockwave as Jaune slammed the hammer into the ground. Jeanne was not so lucky, the wall of force knocking her onto her back.
"Jeanne what is with your brother!?" She heard Ruby yell. "This is worse than fighting Yang, it's like fighting a Human Grimm!"
"Don't call him that!" She snapped.
She saw her fellow leader jump and look down a bit. "Sorry."
Jeanne picked herself up and looked over to see only Pyrrha and Yang managed to stay standing and were engaged with him. "It's fine… He's only… Pissed."
"You have a level system on his anger?" Blake questioned.
"Yeah, now he's where we need him." Jeanne smiled. "But we need a way to slow him down. Weiss can you do that time thing backward?"
"I would've done it before if I could."
"Crud, I was kinda banking on you being able to do it."
"You could've asked before we made it this far." Weiss sassed.
"But we do have another trick in our book if you can get us a clear shot." Ruby smiled.
"I can do that." She gave Ruby a weak smile, "But I also need one more thing."
Quickly ducking the hammer swing, Pyrrha slashed his legs but had to roll out of the way as he slammed the hammer down, jumping to dodge the follow-up swing and brought her shield up to block the punch that sent her flying. With a twirl, she landed on her feet just in time to dodge another slam, Pyrrha had several close calls, he was far more aggressive than anyone she's ever faced before, he reminded her of fighting a Grimm, just a mindless beast that only knew how to destroy.
A blow to Jaune's side made him turn and swing at Yang, who bobbed under and landed another quick jab. Her arm blocked his backswing, the hit forcing her to the side.
"Are you that adamant about dashing your sister's dreams?!" Pyrrha yelled at him. "Do you care so little about what she wants?"
She ducked his swing. "Of course, I care!" She blocked his kick with her shield, sliding to a stop as Yang hit him across the face. Only to take one herself, the two glared at each other with their glowing red eyes.
"You don't care, you just want her to be put in a cage!" She threw another hook, but Jaune muscled through, swinging the hammer down at her, only meeting Pyrrha's shield as she rushed to Yang aid.
"You don't know anything." He growled, trying to force the hammer down more but the two powerhouses held firm. "I'm trying to protect her."
"She doesn't need you anymore!" Pyrrha's semblance kicked in and repelled his hammer, sending the hammer flying away. The pair slammed the shield into his chest and force him back, giving them space and a moment of reprieve.
"Jaune." They turned to see Jeanne walking towards them with her hand's half raised and her sword on her hip. "Jaune, I'm really sorry."
"Jeanne!?" Pyrrha yelled. "Jeanne, no, you can't quit."
"Don't do this, Jeanne, you can't let him win!" Yang argued.
"I'm sorry, you two." She dropped her arms. "And I'm sorry, Jaune, for all of this… I truly am."
"Jeanne…" He took a step forward, holding his hand out, before dropping to his knee as his leg froze over as the sound of a shot reached them. Jaune looked up at Jeanne with a very confused and hurt look.
"I'm really sorry." Looking past Jeanne, Ruby fired another shot through Weiss's Glyph, slamming into his other leg and freezing it over. "Now, we have to get him out of the ring!"
The trio rushed at him, but his eyes remained locked on Jeanne, Pyrrha could see his body trembling as she closed in, and just before she could grab him, he yelled. Smoke erupted into a cloud as he slammed his fist down so hard, he made a shock wave forcing them back and knocking Jeanne on her rear as she looked at him with wide eyes.
"That enraged you!?" She quickly turned to look at Ruby. "Run!"
The ice shattered just from the force of his leg moving as he stormed past Jeanne, Ruby kept her sights trained on him and squeezed the trigger of Crescent Rose, it hit him in the shoulder… he didn't even flinch as he kept charging towards her, the ice breaking off as he moved. She unloaded two more rounds, one hitting his foot, but the ice shattered as he slammed his foot and the other hitting his chest, it didn't stop him. Ruby just kept firing more and more rounds, landing every hit but nothing was slowing him down, even a Grimm would fall by this point. But he didn't drop, he didn't slow, he just glared at her with his glowing red eyes, yelling the whole way.
He was right on them, Ruby pulled the trigger again and click… She ran out of ammo as Jaune threw a punch. Weiss jumped before her and summoned a shield glyph that just shattered under the weight of the blow, causing a shock wave which sent Weiss into her and knocked them both out of the ring.
"That's… Impossible… He broke my glyph." She heard Weiss, but she couldn't take her eyes off Jaune. Snarling and growling at them, he paced the edge of the ring, looking down at the edge before back to them. She couldn't figure out what he was doing, but she didn't need to as the shields slammed into his back, pushing him forward. He quickly spun around, this time catching the shield and digging his heels in as they pushed. Blake was pushing with Jeanne, Leaving Yang with Pyrrha.
"Push!" Jeanne yelled. All four remaining ladies pushed, sliding him back a little. Jaune let out a roar over the shields, looking down at them, but they didn't quit forcing him back more. "I can't afford to lose Jaune! Not this time! Push!"
They shoved again, but Jaune pulled at Jeanne's shield, sending them stumbling forward as he cocked his arm back and punched Pyrrha's Shield, forcing the two powerhouses backward.
"Come on, Jeanne, get up!" Ruby cheered to her fellow leader, who landed just next to the edge. Jeanne huffed as she picked herself off the floor, she looked down at Ruby with a nod, ready to get back in there.
"Don't you dar-!" Until Jaune swung Blake's full body by her foot into his sister and sent them both falling on top of her and Weiss. "… Jeanne, I don't like your brother."
"… Sorry…"
"You two are heavy could you get off of me."
With the extra weight off of her, Ruby rose to her feet, looking towards the ring. Pyrrha and Yang stood against the enraged form of Jeanne's Brother. She heard him snarl at the pair as more smoke burst from his body.
"Kick his butt, Yang!" She cheered as the others shouted cheers of their own..
Jaune charged them with a roar, his fist contacted with Pyrrha's shield sending her sliding away as slammed a hook across his face, it felt like hitting pure stone. Ducking the counter swing, she threw her arms up, blocking the kick forcing her to stagger back. Pyrrha's shield flew into his face, bouncing off as Pyrrha ran past her catching the shield, she blocked the punch he threw, deflecting it as she slashed at his body with her sword. Powering through the hit, Jaune threw another wild swing, only for Yang to jab him across the face.
The brawl quickly turned hectic, fist swinging trying to land their mark, bodies being knocked around, trying to hold up to the force of his hit. Yang could only think of one thing during all this chaos, "This would be so much fun if you weren't an asshole." Ducking the backhand he threw, she delivered three quick jabs to his body.
"I don't care." She was surprised to hear him answer as he slammed his knee into her hands, blocking her face.
"That's the problem!" Pyrrha slammed her shield into his. She ducked his return swing and slammed her shield across his face. "If you cared about Jeanne, you wouldn't be doing this!"
His hand flew up, catching her by the neck and lifting Pyrrha into the air. She kicked at his chest, trying to break from his iron vice, but she couldn't stop him from slamming her into the ground, leaving her motionless. He raised his foot to stomp down, but Yang was quick enough to hook her arm under his knee, stopping him before slamming her fist into his face with a heavy haymaker. The force was enough to cause him to stumble backward, she could hurt him at last.
Her burning red eyes glared into his. Yellow flames rolled down her hair as pure black smoke oozed from his body.
The Dragon vs The Hound.
The two roared at each other, then charged.
The two swung, her hook slamming into his face as his own hook was drove into her body. She couldn't let herself fold, hitting him with an uppercut only to feel a haymaker across her face. She elbowed him, he backhanded her. Jabs met crosses, hooks returned uppercuts, blow after blow, they were just slugging it out. With each hit took a chuck from her aura, but it also empowered her, so she could take chucks from his. The smoke and fire mixed, dancing around the two as they both slammed a hard haymaker into the other's face sending them both sliding away.
Jaune took a step forward only to be met with Pyrrha's shield hitting his face, but he drove her to the ground shattering her aura and leaving her knocked out before him. It was up to her now.
She stepped towards him, and to her surprise, he did as well. Even enraged, he was a cocky jackass. Smoke trailed behind him, mirrored by the flames following her, a sign showing her anger. She could assume the same for him, and it was time to settle this as mad people do. She gripped him by his hoodie so he couldn't get away this time, and he had the same plan grabbing her jacket and pulling his arm back.
With all their might, they swung.
Both of them rocked to the side, but their grip tightened as they swung again with a roar, their fists freezing inches from the other face.
"I said that is the match!" Miss Goodwitch yelled. Yang noticed the purple glow around Jaune and knew it was stopping her too.
"The winner is…" Yang's eyes shifted to the Professor. "Jaune Arc."
As she felt the hold on her drop, Yang turned to the screen to see their Auras.
Yang Xiao Long: 13%
Jaune Arc: 29%
"Mr. Arc, calm down!" Yang turned to look at him only to be met with a punch as he broke free from Glynda's hold. Glynda tried to hold him again, but it only made his movements sluggish as he powered through. "I do not wish to do this, Jaune. But you're leaving me no choice."
With her semblance Glynda lifted the still marching Jaune into the air, stopping him from reaching Yang as he stretched out his arm, then slammed him into the roof of the room. Holding him out of reach.
"I believe it would be best if you all took Miss Arc back to your room." Headmaster Ozpin said. Yang turned to see Jeanne in tears.
She failed. Her friend needed her, and she failed.
Jeanne sat on her bed, looking down at the fully packed suitcase. Both teams sat in team JNPR's room, Pyrrha and Ruby sitting on either side of her.
"Maybe there's another way." Ruby broke the silence.
"Jaune already texted me that he finished talking to Ozpin," She let out a tiny sigh. "It's already too late."
"Damn… If only I just landed more hits." Yang slammed her fist on the desk.
"Or if I didn't allow myself to get knocked out by him," Pyrrha added on.
"At least you two stayed in the ring. The rest of us got knocked out." Jeanne chuckled weakly. "I'm actually surprised we did so well."
"Thanks for the vote of confidence," Weiss rolled her eye and crossed her arms.
"I don't mean it like that." She looked around at them. "Of course, I believed in all of you, I wouldn't have made it as far without you. But Jaune's my brother, I've been watching him fight my whole life, and deep down, I know he will always win… he has to."
"Still, I feel like I could've been better or done something different." Yang leaned against the wall with her arms crossed.
"I think we all wish we could have done something different," Jeanne stood. "But we tired, we tired our hardest, and that's the most I can ask from you all. Thank you all so much."
Nora was the first up, pulling her into a hug, quickly followed by Ruby and Pyrrha. Slowly more and more of her friends stacked in, even Blake and Weiss joined, and she couldn't help but smile. Sadly, it all came to an end with a knock at the door.
"I mean… if you don't open it, you won't have to leave?" Ruby made a strong point, but Jeanne broke free from the hug and grabbed her case. With a sigh, she walked up to the door and opened it revealing Jaune.
"Hey, Sis."
"Hey."
The sibling looked at each other for a moment.
"Well, you won." She gave him a small smile.
He returned the smile. "Yeah, I normally do. Would be a bad guard dog if I didn't."
"Stop, you're not a dog."
"Woof."
"Shut up." She pushed him playfully but laughed a real laugh. Her brother always knew how to bring her mood up.
"Anyway, you ready to go?" He asked.
"I guess, I'm just going to say goodbye right fast."
"I guess mom is going to kill you," He chuckled softly. "Should I turn around or something, I'm pretty sure I'm unwelcome."
"You're fine…ish" She spun around to look at her group of friends, and each of them wore a sad expression. "I guess I already gave my big thank you… but truly… thank you, I couldn't have asked for better friends. I'll miss you all so much."
"Please call and write," Ruby said, nearly in tears. Nora was in tears holding onto Ren. She could see Yang and Pyrrha glaring at Jaune. Blake and Weiss gave her a nod wishing her the best.
She grabbed her case and spun back to Jaune. "I ready to gooooooo-" Smoke billowed his mouth as his eyes flicked red. "Woah Woah woahwoahwoah, calm down, breathe."
He inhaled, and with an exhale, and the rest of the cloud of black smoke flowed from him.
"Now, what's wrong." She asked.
"He was supposed to call you and tell you."
"Who, Ozpin? What was he supposed to tell me, Jaune?"
Jaune looked at her before looking down at the suitcase and picking it up tossing it onto Ren's bed before turning to leave. "You won't be needing that. Let's go."
"What, wait, what?"
"Come on, let's go."
"Jaune." Jeanne stepped in front of him, blocking the path. "Just tell me what's going on."
"You're not going home."
Her mouth dropped, "What? But I lost?"
"I never said you had to win, Jeanne. I just need you to prove to me I wouldn't have to worry." He placed his hands on her shoulders and smiled at her. "Not only did you prove yourself, but you also showed just how ready you are. You were amazing, Sis. Leading a team, fighting together, planning. I saw everything on the recording. I'm just so proud of you."
Once the shock wore off, she couldn't help but smile, throwing her arms around her brother, hugging him, and she felt his arms warp around her. "I can! I'm staying!"
"You are," He broke the hug before pulling away a bit, she could see a bittersweet look on his face. "And… I'm sorry, Jeanne."
"For what?"
"Everything, not believing in you, making you feel small or helpless or weak. I didn't mean to leave you behind or skip your training. I didn't mean to push you away so far that you had to run away to live your dream. I should've been there with you every step of the way… You do deserve a better twin."
"Shut up!" Jeanne slammed her foot down. "Just shut up. Stop always bad-mouthing yourself. You can't blame yourself for everything I did. I know you didn't have time to train me. I don't blame you! Mom can't work, jobs won't hire us, and you're going out damn near every day doing missions to put food on the table and keep the lights on."
"I could do more."
"You can't do more! You hardly take care of yourself." She looks at the bags under his eye. "Did you sleep last night?"
"… I tried to take a nap on the ship."
"Did you eat?"
"… I threw it up from the ship ride."
"So, you haven't slept, haven't eaten, and got into a fight with eight people to the point you got enraged. I'm surprised I didn't open the door to you passed out on the floor again." She rubbed her eyes, before looking at him. "You're an idiot, but you're my idiot baby brother. I'm sorry for worrying you."
"Can we not have a sorry off," He gave her a smile before he walked past her. "But you still need to call Mom, but I got your back, and knowing you have a bunch of other people ready to fight for you, I'm pretty sure we can convince her to let you stay."
"Okay." She returned the smile. "Oh, because I'm staying, could you stay a few days so I can introduce you to my friends with less face-punching?"
"Oh… yeah… about that."
"Come on, Jaune, they'll love you we could even do it right now."
"I'm… staying too." He rubbed the back of his neck as he turned to face her with a weak smile.
"What?!"
"Ozpin, offered me a job." He explained.
"No."
"And it pays a lot more than missions." He continued.
"Jaune, please, you didn't."
"And… I already took it."
"You hate him!"
"That doesn't matter, Jeanne." He crossed his arms and looked away. "It's a lot of money, and it can really help everyone back home. Plus, I'm pretty sure mom will be more pissed about that she'll completely forget about you coming home."
"You can't keep doing this to yourself." She took a step closer to him. "You need to start doing things you actually want, Jaune."
"I want to do this."
"Do you!? You can't even look me in the eyes when you say that!"
He shifted his gaze back to her. "I need to be here."
"Don't use my words against me like that, Jaune," She glared. "You know these are different."
"Not that different. We Arc's must protect our family." He sighed. "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make sure you and everyone back home is taken care of. Besides, it's too late, I already signed the contract."
She was at a complete lost of words.
"Aunt Glynda said she would show me to my room when I was ready, so you unpack and meet me in the library in like a half an hour." He turned and made his way out the room, turning back with a small smile. "I'll be fine, Jeanne. I always am." He said before closing the door.
Jeanne stood there staring at the door before, "Jeanne?" Pyrrha voice grabbed her attention, she turned to see both team looking at her with worry filled eyes.
"Nora… can you hand me that pillow?" She reached out as Nora passed her said pillow. She gently placed her face into the pillow and screamed.
This is a reupload, the first upload was the unedited version. What a way to start a story haha.
Anyway welcome everyone from the Hound of Arc and all the new readers. This is the remake of the story. Yes, this is an RWBY/Fate crossover, but it's much more RWBY than Fate, so I am posting it here. So I hope you enjoy!
