Chapter 1: Becoming a Devil
In the town of Kuoh, there's a certain boy who goes to the local High School.
This boy is named Colton, or his full name: Colton "Xeno" Akuma. He is a second year at the school. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He's 5'6" and has a light build. His light build is due to him doing small work outs each day, keeping him fit, but not muscular.
Right now he was chilling in class.
Nearby, he could hear the conversation of the well known Perverted Trio.
'Those 3 really need to learn to knock it off.'
In terms of popularity, Colton was known as the most normal boy of Kuoh. This was thanks to his non-perverted nature, as well as his tendency to treat everyone the same.
In the opinion of the other students, he was someone who no one had any problems with. The female students appreciate that he's not a perv, but that's not enough for them to fall head over heels for him, while the male students don't have any issues with him since the female students don't fawn over him.
Colton heard the lunch bell ring.
Colton got up and head out to the courtyard with a packed lunch.
He head over to his usual spot: under one particular tree.
After sitting down, he heard footsteps.
He turned his head and saw someone approaching.
"Hello Koneko. How are you today?" He asked.
The person in question, Koneko Toujou, is a first year female student with white hair.
"I'm doing good. Do you have the tax?" She said blandly.
Colton lightly chuckled at the little inside joke of theirs and pulled out a candy bar. This inside joke is that Koneko will only allow him to sit at her spot if he gives her sweets.
He gave it to Koneko as she sat down.
The two of them have been hanging out at this spot for a while now.
/Flashback: A few months ago\
It was the day that Colton had transferred to Kuoh.
His introduction to his classmates went well, with them quietly talking about how normal he was.
It was currently lunchtime.
Colton had a packed lunch and decided to want to spend lunch alone.
He finds a secluded spot in the courtyard, under a tree.
He sat down and took out his lunch.
He was about to start eating as he felt some devil energy and a tap on his shoulder.
He turned to see Koneko.
"You're in my spot." She said blandly.
"Oh, my apologies. I'll move." Colton said as he started to get up.
"No, no. You can stay." Koneko said as she sat down next to him.
"Are you sure?" Colton asked.
Koneko then noticed a candy bar with Colton's lunch. "Sure, as long as you give me some candy, then you can sit here whenever."
Colton then sat back down and handed her the candy bar.
"Names Colton Akuma. What's your name?"
"Koneko Toujou." She said with a monotone voice.
From then on, the two would hang out together during lunch and quickly became friends.
As the two ate their lunches in silence, Koneko leans her head onto Colton.
Colton was a little surprised by her action and blushed a little. His blush then faded as he relaxed.
Later that day, Colton was walking home. He passed by one of the perverted trio: Issei.
He saw that Issei was approached by a girl who asked him out.
'I guess even he can get lucky.' Colton thought as he continued.
'Her energy though. It's faint, but it feels like a Fallen Angel.'
Truth be told, Colton had been aware of the supernatural his whole life, especially due to his ahem... "unique" heritage.
With him only being half human and half... wait. Why am I telling you this? This is a spoiler.
Colton continues home.
Once he gets there he unlocks the door, walks inside, and locks it again as he closes it.
He takes out an interesting and high tech looking device. On it, he noticed a message.
The message read:
"Hello son. I hope your doing ok. I've been super busy, but I promise you that I'll visit."
Colton shivered. That message was from his mother. She was a unique individual that Colton was a little scared of.
Colton then prepared himself dinner and once he was done eating, he went to bed.
It was now Sunday. Colton had nothing to do, so he decided to relax for most of it.
Later, he went out for a walk to the local park.
Once he got there, he saw a female Fallen Angel who just killed Issei.
Colton froze, the Fallen Angel noticed him.
The girl looked panicked and threw a light spear at him.
The spear hit Colton in the heart.
'Damn. I was caught off guard.'
The girl seemed to realize what she did and ran over to him as he collapsed.
"Oh no no no! I didn't mean to do that!" She said.
Colton, while dying, looked at her and the look of pity she held.
"Listen. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to kill you. I just had orders to kill that boy over there." The Fallen Angel said as she pointed at Issei.
"I didn't want to kill him either, but my superior said that it was for the greater good. I don't like killing innocent people, please believe me!"
"I... believe... you." Colton said in his dying breath.
With that, he lost consciousness.
The girl now very panicked, flew off.
Moments later, a red magic circle appeared and three figures stepped out.
Theses figures are Rias Gemory, Akeno Himejima, and Koneko.
Rias walked over to Issei's corpse and proceeded to use a pawn piece to try and resurrect him.
The one piece didn't work so she tried multiple. It took all 8 of her pawn pieces to work.
Once that was over, she teleported him back to his home.
It was then that Colton's body began to leak dark magic from the wound.
The three took notice and turned around.
Once they saw Colton's body, Koneko's eyes widened in panic.
"No!!!" She shouted as she ran over to him.
Koneko ran right up to him, lifting him up in her arms.
She quickly tried feeling for a pulse finding none.
She then laid him back down and started to cry a little.
Rias and Akeno walked over to her.
"Do you know this boy?" Rias asked.
"He's my friend." Koneko replied.
'He must be very important to her if she's showing some emotion.' Rias thought.
Akeno then took notice of the visible dark magic leaking from the hole in his chest. She could sense the amount of energy it held.
"Um... not to alarm everyone. But that wound is leaking an incredibly dangerous amount of dark magic.
The three then backed up, looking at the magic.
"How dangerous?" Rias asked.
"If it continues to leak, it might cause an explosion so powerful, that it might take out the whole town and everything in it." Akeno explained.
"That's not good. How do we stop it?" Rias asked.
Koneko got an idea. "Reincarnate him. Please!" She said begging.
"Oh? You must really care about this boy." Akeno said teasingly.
"Not the time Akeno!" Koneko snapped at her.
"Ok, ok. Sheesh." Akeno said back.
Rias then pulled out her evil pieces.
She tried a bishop piece, only for it not to work.
She tried a rook piece, only for that to also not work.
She tried a knight piece, and that also didn't work.
"Well, that's a problem. None of my pieces are working." Rias said.
"We have to try something!" Koneko exclaimed.
"I agree, although for mostly different reasons." Akeno said, giving Koneko a teasing look.
"I have another piece, although my brother said it was highly experimental and might not work." Rias explained.
She then pulled out a special looking queen piece.
"This is an experimental mutated queen piece. My brother said that it might make it so I'd be the only Devil in history to have two queen pieces." Rias explained as she tried using the piece.
The piece went into Colton, seeming to have worked. His wound closed and the magic ceased.
Colton then woke up fast, as if he woke from a nightmare.
He looked around and then at his chest.
He saw the hole in his shirt.
"So, I did get hit. How am I alive? Unless..."
Colton turned and saw the three girls.
Colton got up and gave a bow. "May I know which one of you is the king so I may thank you for saving my life?" He asked.
He stood up straight, only for Koneko to run up and tackle hug him, almost knocking him down. He hugged back.
Koneko started to cry again, so he started to pet her on the back of her head to calm her down.
"So you already know about the supernatural. I am the king. My name is Rias Gremory, nice to meet you." Rias said.
"I humbly thank you for reviving me. Even if I am now a devil, I am alive. I Colton Akuma owe you for my life."
Koneko then let go of him.
"How long have you known about the supernatural?" She asked.
"My whole life actually." Colton responded.
"Your wh- why didn't you tell me!?" Koneko said as she punched him in the gut with all her strength.
Colton went down. "Ow."
After a moment, Colton got back up. "I'm sorry. I just wanted to blend in for the time being and mentioning that your a devil to you didn't seem like a good idea."
"Wait! You knew!?" Koneko exclaimed.
"Yeah." Colton said rubbing the back of his head.
Koneko then grabbed his ear. "If you knew the whole time, then you could've said something!"
"Ow, ow, ow. I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"
Koneko then let go.
"Well. You've certainly gotten more expressive Koneko haven't you?" Akeno said in a trading tone.
Koneko turned to look at her. "We found my best friend dead in front of us. Of course I'd be reacting to all this."
"Let's get back on topic." Rias declared. "You were leaking a lot of dark magic when you were dead. Do you have any idea to why?"
Colton's eyes widened. "Ah, yeah. It was due to my... unique biology." He said looking away.
"If I may, can I ask what you mean?" Rias asked.
"Before you reincarnated me, I was half human, half... I don't want to say, it's incredibly personal. But I will say that my new devil genetics have completely replaced my human genetics."
"So, now your half devil, half something else." Akeno summarized.
"Yes."
"Well, I guess you can tell us when you fell that your ready to share that information." Rias said.
"Thank you." Colton thanked.
"For now, since you've just been reincarnated, you can go home to rest. Tomorrow at school, I'll send someone to bring you to the old school house where we can continue all of this."
Colton then gave a bow. "Alright. I'll see you then."
Koneko then gave him one last hug before the 3 girls were surrounded by a red magic circle and teleported away.
Colton glances around before being surrounded by a black magic circle and also teleporting away.
Colton arrived back at his house and prepared to go to sleep.
Soon he got in bed.
'Tomorrow is going to be interesting.' He thinks to himself before falling asleep.
