Author's Note: I am pretty new to the fandom, but I fell in love with all the tropes and the idea of two people, both trying to be decent, finding each other and being kind to one another - aka please enjoy this canon-divergent AU I created to support this shameless fluff.
A Holiday by Decree
Summary:
Queen Daenerys was not above throwing down the ultimate trump card, one that not even her talented Hand could top: "Tyrion Lannister, as your ruler, I command: you will not continue in your post another day without taking a decent vacation." One problem: Tyrion wasn't aware that the Queen in the North had been sent on vacation too.
Told in connected drabble chapters mostly about two people reuniting and finding out what it means to have a nice time together.

::::
"Lord Tyrion, I think it's time you left," Queen Daenerys of Westeros announced one day, quite suddenly.
Tyrion looked up blinkingly at his queen. From where he sat at his writing desk, situated conveniently right across the queen's solar from her own desk, he had not been expecting this even though perhaps he should have.
As Hand of the Queen, Tyrion remained always aware that he served only at Daenerys' pleasure, so if she wanted him gone – well then, he only hoped he would get to keep his head and neck intact in the process.
Carefully, the Lord Hand closed his book. Lowering his quill, he mirrored his queen. Dutiful and absorbed in his work, as he had been since he had sworn himself in service to her, he did not know when exactly she had dropped her pen to sit back in her chair and watch him work. Focused in that moment only on the policy in front of him, he had been no less oblivious than a mouse being eyed by the hungry cat.
"My Queen, as you wish. I can vacate my quarters in less than half a fortnight, as you may allow –," he began, his scarred and bearded face the picture of absolute seriousness beneath the mass of wild curls that were his bangs, which had grown so long they threatened constantly to fall into his face.
"You ridiculous man, when will you realize that I value you and am not plotting to violently dispose of you at every turn?" Daenerys shot back. Yet, an almost mischievous look seemed to dance in her violet eyes, leaving Tyrion no less uncertain about what his queen had in mind for him.
"No, Lord Hand, by saying, 'it's time that you left', I rather mean that I will you to take a vacation," Daenerys pronounced, squarely staring him down.
Just as quickly, he rolled his eyes past his ragged bangs and reopened his journal to continue writing. "The Hand of the Queen does not vacation, your highness, especially not when there's a whole prior dynasty's worth of maliciously sloppy legal code still yet to re-write and submit for reform. Besides, as my past reputation supports, I assure you that I languished in enough leisure time cum debauchery in my early years to last a lifetime, that I surely won't need a vacation still for years to come," he replied dismissively and with no pun intended.
"Say what you want, but I won't let you overwork yourself another day - you're at the books more often than even me, and I'm the monarch," she quickly argued back.
She recognized him working up into his favorite retort of, That's why I work, so you don't have to. However, as queen, Daenerys was not above throwing down the ultimate trump card, one that not even her talented Hand could top: "Tyrion Lannister, as your ruler, I command: you will not continue in your post another day without taking a decent vacation."
