dream1990 asked for this one. Here you go, Amigo! :) Enjoy! :)

Amanda The Adventurer belongs to its respective owners. I only own my OC, which will be making an appearance in this chapter.

A/N: This story is AU and Riley is female in this story.

The Last Adventure

Riley couldn't believe what she had just witnessed. "Could it really be true?" She asked herself.

But it was. She had seen all the tapes and the clues were all adding up. There was something horrible that had happened and poor Rebecca, who had voiced Amanda in the popular kids show, was either trapped or worse. "I'm hoping just trapped, but if that's the case, how do I get her free?"

She searched around the attic before hearing something and turning to see there was a stranger in a trenchcoat and hat, similar to what detectives in old movies used to wear. The person didn't speak, but instead nodded to her and pulled something out from inside their jacket.

"Who are you?" Riley asked.

The stranger put something on the table and gently tapped it before giving it a small nudge towards the young woman, the silent gesture telling her that the person wanted her to read it. She moved closer as the person moved away and she saw it looked like a diary or journal.

And it had her aunt's name on the front.

Riley looked up at the stranger, who made the motion with their hands that she should open the diary, but she was stock still. After a bit, the person moved closer and carefully lifted the cover of the book, revealing the first page, which was a note. Seeing the date, Riley realized this note was written before she had gotten that letter from her aunt. She read the words aloud.

"To my dearest niece, I hope this will help you in the quest that I know you've chosen," the note said. "Good luck. With love, Aunt Kate."

The young woman looked up, but the strange person was gone. Blinking, she turned the page of the diary, seeing the entry.

"I can't help drawing the same conclusion that the producers have done something that most likely can't be undone. But I have to be careful. This company has no doubt made sure none, if any, of their employees can stop them."

Riley bit her lip and was about to keep reading when she heard footsteps and the strange person came back, setting something down on the table and pushing it towards her. It was a card that said 'Call' and a number. "Who is this number for?" She asked, but to her shock, the person vanished again.

Sighing, she turned to another page of the diary. "A mother returned the tapes she had just rented out for her kid because her child got frightened by something. She didn't say what, but she's not the first. Several parents have been complaining. I don't understand what could be wrong. Even Sam has said something's wrong."

Another entry was entered a bit later that same day as the last one. "On that note, I haven't seen Sam in a while and Rebecca stopped writing me letters. In fact, I got an odd letter from the company that makes the Amanda The Adventurer show, asking me to stop bothering the star of the show. This rubs me wrong, especially since my last letter from Sam seemed like Rebecca didn't want to do any more episodes of the show."

Turning the page, Riley found an envelope with the letter mentioned and she opened it, taking a deep breath and reading it.

Kate,

Things have gotten really bad. Rebecca is becoming more upset about doing these Amanda episodes and she's been begging me to let her stay home and not go to the studio.

The managers at the studio have not been kind about it though. They are getting tired of Rebecca asking for time off and they're saying she has to do more episodes, but she has been crying the past few days.

I don't know what to do, Kate. I'd hate to ask you to pull all the tapes of the Amanda show from the library shelves since you've been helping me to promote the show, but I have to think about my daughter.

Please write me back soon. I really need some help on this one.

Your friend, Sam.

Riley shook her head. "Okay, this is more than enough, along with the tapes, to know something is up," she said before calling the number on the card the mystery person gave her.

Surprisingly, someone picked up right away. "Hello?" Said a female voice.

"Hi, I'm sorry to bug you, but I was given your number by a mutual friend of ours," the young woman said. "I'm hoping you can help me with a mystery I'm trying to solve."

The person on the other end sighed. "Look, honey, I'm a programmer. I can program a mystery into a television series, but I don't try to solve mysteries," she said.

"But this is serious," Riley said. "It's about the Amanda show."

The person on the other end went silent. "How do you know about that?" The programmer asked after a moment. "No one mentions that old show anymore. Not after what happened to Sam."

Riley blinked. "What happened to Sam?" She asked. "My aunt Kate mentioned she hasn't seen him or Rebecca in a while. Rebecca even stopped writing letters to her and the studio making the show asked my aunt to stop bothering the star of the show."

The other woman sighed. "Then...you've seen the tapes," she said.

"Yes."

"Then there's no convincing you otherwise. You already know something is up," the programmer said. "What do you know?"

"All I know is that the tapes are creepy and point to something really bad," Riley said. "I hate to think the worst, but I think Rebecca is trapped or...possibly gone. Maybe her father is gone too."

The other end went quiet. "You're actually more on the mark with your first guess," she said. "You said Kate was your aunt?"

"Yes."

"Then you're Riley," the programmer said. "Your aunt left me something and told me to expect a call from you. Of course, that was a few years ago, but I still got what she gave me."

"Who are you?" Riley asked, curious now.

"I can't say over the phone, honey. I'm already risking a lot talking to you, but if you were given my number, it means our mutual friend thinks there's a chance."

"A chance for what?"

But the programmer hung up the phone and Riley sighed before getting a text message. She opened it to see it was from an unknown number.

"Follow this clue: I get scratched, but never say 'ouch'. I've met many in my time, both famous and otherwise. Come for a visit and see for yourself."

Riley fell into thought before it hit her and she raced out the door, heading for the rollerblading/ice rink in town that had been shut down a few years ago, but the building was still maintained to her understanding.

She just wondered why the mystery person didn't agree to meet her at another place. She suddenly got another text on her phone and looked at it.

"Go around by the woods. It's out of sight. You'll trip the alarms otherwise."

Nodding, she followed the instructions. "Aunt Kate, what have you asked me to solve?" She asked herself as she found her way in, going in and locking the door firmly behind her.

Hmm. Could something bad have happened to Rebecca? Who is the mystery programmer? We shall soon see.
