When it came to feelings, there was little to draw from. Not being a stranger to intimacy, connections, and the body heat of another against hers, Mina Ashido should be highly receptive towards people. Though, for the most part, she treated such matters like how a professional would a job. These experiences were fleeting, momentary, almost devoid of romantic sentiments. Men, women, everyone and everything was the same. All stepping stones towards brief satisfaction. Yet, for some reason, once his shoulders came visible beneath the torrential downpour, a small part of her heart ached.
Izuku Midoriya never was a standout in the class. He was the embodiment of gentleness, a person who treated everyone as their equal. Someone who never once looked down on anyone, even those known to have multiple partners like her. Looks wise, the green haired boy drew occasional glances from the class's girls. Mina was no stranger to shooting a look or two. It wouldn't be out of the question to consider him a great curiosity. One she seemingly would forever be on the sidelines of. Since unlike most others, a goalkeeper constantly covered for him.
When news broke out that Ochako Uraraka and Izuku Midoriya were finally a couple, a wide variety of reactions spread through the dorm goers. Most of the boys simply leered at him, a sort of respectful resentment showing within their eyes. The most taciturn of the bunch simply flashed indifferent expressions and then accepted the news without much fuss. The girls, well, may have taken the event harder. Notably, there were five who stood out. Tooru Hagakure made little noise once the rumor was confirmed, considerably so. It had gotten to the point where dorm members even forgot she was present. The cheerful, talkative girl once filling the room with her aura was gone and in came a reclusive, quiet, almost gloomy individual. Later that same week, she would knock on Mina's door for the first time.
Momo Yaoyorozu, who seemed like she would have the tamest reaction, actually took things poorly. Her immediate lip biting broke through the appendage, then she walked off quietly to her room. The days following saw her donning a quite visible bandage on the injury, as well as some dark eyebags. None dared to pry further, despite the The heiress would knock twice on Mina's door thereafter. A few weeks went by, then a sudden announcement of the class's second relationship reared its head.
Tsuyu Asui initially supported the couple with no asterisks whatsoever. She even bought a cake for the two with one of those comically big hearts in the middle. It was a surprise then when her slumped shoulders under the door frame slowly raised up and down as tears splashed onto the ground. Not once did she talk about why she was there, partially because the reason was overtly obvious. Nothing happened between them both, until around midnight the frog girl sobbed into Mina's shoulder. Safe to say, the collective reaction of their class was bleak.
Most importantly, that negative reaction completely aligned with the boy's current posture as he sat on the dorm's porch. His posture forwards and his arms basically hugging around his legs and face, he looked as dejected as some of their classmates. She had gone outside to see the rain. For some reason, nobody seemed to want Mina's company tonight. Not even those who regularly went to see her. Such a sight would normally have been impossible if events went according to how they usually do. Rain splashed against his entire upper frame and he looked like he would stay there, perennially.
"Hey Midori." Mina kneeled and placed a hand on his shoulder. She tried to be as gentle as possible.
Izuku, apparently completely zoned out, jumped a little once they made contact. He slightly raised his head, one eye peeking over the shoulder. On his face were red eyebags, a small tear lingering near the eyelids. This gave her a jolt, coupled by a spine chilling shiver.
"Hey … Mina." His voice was coarse and even quieter than usual. "Uh…" He sounded like he wanted to continue, yet he recoiled back inside the makeshift shell. Clearly, something was very wrong.
"Sorry if I'm, you know, being too forward." She pushed her knees forwards and sat down directly next to the boy. Her pajamas started getting wet but she gave this no importance. She even started playfully kicking her legs up and down.
They sat there, in silence, for about ten minutes. All Mina did was be there, supportively. By simply making her presence known, it helped pacify the overwhelming emotions oozing out of the boy. He eventually raised his entire head out of his arms.
"We… uh… didn't break up…" As expected, this was about Uraraka. They'd been together for almost six months now. If anything, something like this was long overdue. "I….I… uhm.." A tear once again started to form. Whatever happened made him hesitant, so much so that he stopped himself from finishing. Whether that was intentional or not, it revealed a lot about the nature of the situation.
He looked back in her direction only to be met with a soft, understanding smile. An expression that made him confident enough to discuss the situation. They weren't particularly close friends and they hadn't even spoken at length to one another. However, throughout the year most of the class had created a natural bond which needn't be discussed to be felt. As so, he continued on.
"I rushed things, got overconfident with our relationship's time frame…." As Izuku spoke, his eyes narrowed and he lowered his chin. Almost recluding back inside the arm shell. "I hurt her …. didn't mean to." His voice quivered at the latter part of the sentence.
Mina scooted closer and wrapped an arm around him in a friendly gesture. She rubbed his left shoulder up and down as his deep sighs held back rivers of tears. There was a momentary contemplation whether to lay her head on his other shoulder, but that probably would've been inappropriate considering his vulnerable state.
"How did you, well," She paused for a second, thinking about her next statement's wording."You don't really have to tell me in detail but I'm here for support." As an aspiring hero, how could she abandon someone in need?
To her surprise, the green haired boy's face got instantly flushed at the inquiry. His face was still plastered with sadness, sure, but it also showed a more complex feeling now on it.
"Uhm… well it has been six months so…" He started explaining, apprehensively explaining but doing so nonetheless. "You know… so we tried uh…" In the most innocent, and slightly cute, way possible, he depicted sex.
He raised both of his hands to just below his jaw and then very softly clapped them together. It took Mina a second, but she almost burst into laughter at the realization. Not because of the root of the problem, rather the way it was described was so Izuku that it became funny. He didn't seem to notice her struggle to stay silent.
"And uh….. Well she already knew as much…" Whilst she had her heart warmed by the wholesome way of describing his woes, he took the liberty of continuing. "Uhm…. my …. You know… was too big". For a second there it almost sounded like the problem was that his dick was too big.
Huh?!
HUH?!
"Hold on." Mina looked him straight in the eyes. She showed determination like never before. "You were too big?!" She blinked in surprise. The rain had ceased and their faces were a lot more visible to one another. They were literal inches apart, her countenance was stern, just like her question. His was still reserved, depressed almost.
"Well… that's the most basic …. way to put things." His eyes grew sadder, almost going back to how he looked right before their conversation. "I forced things …. Ochako she… cried in pain…." Right, this was not the time to be astonished by his claims. He mentioned before how he had hurt her. Going by what was said, the damage was both physical and emotional.
"Did you leave after that?" She lowered her tone, returning to almost matching Izuku's. Mina forced herself to depart from the line of thinking she had gone on before.
"No…. uh…. I tried to apologize.." His eyes focused on the ground. Even if no tears were falling, his regret was palpable. "Said she needed some time alone… then you saw me here." He looked completely dejected.
Upon hearing the extent of what had happened, Mina separated herself a bit and put her hands next to her hips where she was sitting. She looked directly upwards at the night sky. The stars were quite visible on campus, probably due to how disconnected the place was from the city. Disconnecting like this helped Mina think, clear her head.
Her answer would take a while. Sure, the issue wasn't a horrendous act against one's partner, but the details revealed a complex interpersonal mistake caused by a series of continuous misunderstandings. Mina was used to satisfying people for momentaneous periods of time. Not dealing with relationships, those contained intricacies that were alien to her. As such, a bit of flawed thinking spawned from an utter lack of experience.
"Okay! Midori, look at me!" Mina leaned back inwards as she started speaking. Her face beamed. Izuku slowly turned back at her, his eyes opened wider than before, possibly due to her rising tone of voice. "First! You have to apologize, that is important!"
A bit taken aback, the boy sprouted a nervous smile at her energy.
"Second! I'll help you cheer up!" She supportively smirked, wide enough that her eyes closed. "And Third! Your big problem down there, I'll help you control it!" Together with her curved lips, she pointed a peace sign directly at him.
Izuku, still surprised at the change of pace, smiled softly. Evidently not taking what was said into deep consideration, especially that last part. Understanding that last part as extra emotional support. Both extended their hands forward and connected fists, sealing their trike together.
Mina respected his decision to stay outside a while longer and headed inside by herself. She smiled in anticipation, looking forward to helping mend her classmate's relationship and finally unraveling the mystery that always plagued her mind.
The last thought that crossed her mind as she walked down the hall was:
'Too big?'
A/N
Hey,
Small note here, I'm writing this simultaneously with a Momo version that should also come out in a few days. Both are planned to be short with lots of intimacy.
Also, if you know me from my other work: My Jirou Academia, then hi. I'll be resuming that story shortly. Life just kinda caught up for a while there, this month and the last were hard to say the least. I had to move cities and well yeah the days of inactivity just piled up. I promise I'll return to write it.
Have a nice day,
TheRealGrandBallad
