This is a fanfic based on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Time/Darkness/Sky. It will be slightly different than the previous one, so think of this one as the superior version, mainly because of the many-year time gap between them. With this out of the way, the main OC will be named Lisette Funk. Let's begin:
I had a very odd dream that night... one that I didn't really know how to describe, mainly because it felt kind of ethereal. I then heard a voice in this weird dream.
"Lisette Funk... can you hear my words?" I heard a very odd voice say... it felt like multiple versions of the same voice, at the same time.
"Um... yeah... it's very weird. Are you one person or multiple?" I asked.
"I shall be asking the questions, but only if you can answer this first one," the voice said, me being confused at that. "I need the help of a human in the world of Pokemon. I am Arceus, creator of the known Universe," the voice said, me then gasping at that.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Arceus?! I thought Pokemon were fictional!" I gawked.
"But they are not," Arceus's voice sounded as he then spoke again. "Much like a universe of yours having multiple different variants, so too are there multiple universes outside of the reach of your own. And in the world of the world you know as Time, Darkness, and Sky, I need the help of a human. And you are the human that I need," Arceus said, me then speaking after.
"Uh, why me, though? I mean, it's not like I'm anything special, just regular old Lisette Funk, almost no feats to my name other than video games," I asked in confusion.
"Because of you having something that no other human in the world has. You alone have the Dimensional Scream," Arceus said, me being confused.
"Um... me, having the Dimensional Scream? This is news to me," I admitted. "And how come it never happened in the past if I have that awesome power?" I asked.
"Because it only works with a trusted partner and only if you are in the world of Pokemon... but as we both know, your journey does not start on the beach. In order for the plan to work, I need you to go through the hardships of the future, first and foremost," Arceus said, me gulping at that.
"Uh... yeah... so, how long will I be taking in the future?" I asked.
"You'd need to be there long enough to forge a partnership with Grovyle and Celebi and also find out the locations of the 5 special Time Gears. If you're quick about it, it should last less than two weeks, but you'll need to be strategic..." Arceus said, me nodding.
"And what of my Pokemon form?" I asked.
"The questions shall begin if you accept to go through with all of this. Are you prepared?" Arceus asked, me gulping and thinking about it. This was a very tough decision, especially since I had to consider the fact I'd most likely never see anyone in this world ever again... but, then again, I didn't really have anyone I'd care enough about to leave behind. I was the last one left in my family, had no romantic life, and I was never really affiliated with anyone as friends or besties, even at work... and then I had to ask one more question.
"Before I do this, may I ask one question?" I asked, Arceus speaking to my head after.
"That's a question, but go ahead," he said, me smirking at how he was being funny.
"Would I cease to exist if I happened to save the future? Or would I be able to stay alive as myself?" I asked, which Arceus spoke after.
"If you were to go through with this, I could allow the future on its own to be its own separate universe, and for you to be able to stay in the past as your own self. But if your memories are lost completely? That's a different story," Arceus said, me nodding at that.
"Okay, got it. Do not lose memories, so that means that I'd need to try and not get too badly hurt when I get into the Passage of Time... AKA, avoid Darkrai like the plague... okay, I'll go for it. I'm putting all my chips on the table, ask away," I said, Arceus then proceeding to ask the different questions that would be asked in the game.
"You discover a beat-up looking treasure in a cave. Do you open it or not?"
"I'm definitely opening that."
"Do you want to be famous one day?"
"Um... maybe? It would have to depend on what kind of thing I was famous for."
"I see, very different answer than expected. Have you ever told a joke that just completely fell flat?"
"Uh huh, multiple times," I said with a blush.
"You're in class, but you really need to use the bathroom. What do you do?"
"I'd ask for permission to leave."
"You see a cake, but it's expired by one day. Do you eat it anyways?"
"That depends, what kind of cake are we talking about?" I smirked.
"Oh? Um... chocolate."
"I'd give it to someone else, then. I'm not a fan of chocolate, but a lot of people would like it, no matter if it's expired," I smirked.
"Hmm... okay, one more question. You're in a quiet assembly and somebody passes gas. What do you do?"
"Cover for them, say something like: Sorry, shouldn't have eaten them beans!" I said, which finally made a small chuckle happen from Arceus.
"I see. It appears that you are quite the thoughtful type, with a bit of a brashness within. But I can also sense a purity of heart within you, but with just a pinch of chaos. A very rare thing for a human to have, especially from a world filled with strife and turmoil," Arceus spoke.
"Yeesh, tell me about it," I groaned.
"I think that you should be... Hisuian Zorua," he said, my eyes going wide at that.
"PERFECTION! I can't wait to be a mischievous scamp that's only weak to dark types! Only one I'd have to watch out for is... oh yeah, Darkrai. Well... I'm ready, Arceus," I said, him then sending me through a portal and me then arriving into a world that I knew I had to be wary of.
I looked around and saw it was completely dark with no natural light anywhere. And after getting my eyes adjusted to this darkness, I then resorted to picking up a few light-producing crystals and, after doing so, I gawked at how I was in a cave of some sort and that, right in front of me were none other than Grovyle and Celebi! And both looked to be injured and looked at me in shock, me shushing them.
"Shh, shh, I'm not dangerous... do you need help?" I asked, the duo looking at me with untrusting eyes as I sighed. "I have no items to hurt you with and... um... I'm naked?" I asked out loud when I saw that Arceus didn't bother to give me clothes. I guess it made sense in this version of Pokemon, but I still blushed after that. "I'm a doctor, I can help you out," I said, the duo then staying completely still as I then placed the light crystal on the ground and moved over to them.
"We need to be quick, the Sabeleye will be here any minute," Celebi said, me inspecting the wounds and seeing that Celebi had an injury to her left arm and that Grovyle had a big cut on his right arm. "Okay, I need a sewing needle, some thread, and something medicinal," I said, Celebi nodding as she gave me the materials and I then proceeded to place one of the herbs over her Grovyle's cut, him seething in pain before I then proceeded to sew his wound closed, removing the herbs bit by bit after they'd healed the wound of germs. Once I finished up, I then gave him a simple instruction.
"Make sure you don't exert it, or the threads will pop, and you won't heal," I frowned.
"Tss... it hurts," he hissed a bit.
"It'll help heal you, though. Just grin and bear it," I said before then proceeding to go to Celebi and I then looked and moved her arm and saw that it was actually dislcated. "I need you to be calm and hold in your screams, okay, Celebi?" I spoke.
"How do you know my name?" she asked in confusion.
"I'll explain later," I said as I then moved her arm into position, Grovyle accepting her hand squeezing his tight as I then put it back into place and made sure to massage the area after.
"NNNGH... That really hurt..." she complained.
"Are you able to fly, now?" I asked, her nodding as she then flew with her little fairy wings and Grovyle proceeded to walk with us, collecting some supplies as we then moved through and out of the place.
"Who are you?... What are you? And why help us?" Grovyle asked.
"I'm Lisette Funk. I'm a human that was sent here from another world. And I'm helping you because I need to help defeat this horrid future," I said, Grovyle looking at me with a frown.
"And how would we do that?" he asked.
"I'll tell you everything, but I'm going to need you two to trust me," I said, them frowning, but nodding at me. "Okay... in order for us to save the future, we need to stop something from happening in the past. Specifically, we need to stop Temporal Tower from falling down. We'll need to not only deduce what time in the past that happens, but also find out where we can find special Time Gears to halt the tower's collapse. If we can accomplish that, then this horrible future will be brighter than ever and time would flow as it should," I said, which made Grovyle sigh.
"I wish I could say those were lies... but I know of Temporal Tower being the cause of this horrible place... and I know that time gears were involved... but why team up with us?" he asked.
"You are a speedy Pokemon and I felt we could work together to save this world... as for Celebi, she's a Pokemon capable of traveling through time. And we need to travel into the past. Okay?" I said, the duo nodding at me.
"If we're working together, then we need you to help us out a lot, understood?" Grovyle said, me nodding.
"Good to have you here, partners," I said as I then simply picked up another glowing crystal on the ground... and when I did, I gasped as I then felt a slight dizziness before my eyes flashed with a vision! I saw the sights of Team Charm, far in the past, arriving to this very cave alongside Wigglytuff and Team AWD and them encountering the Time Gear! I saw every single instance of how they went through the cave and how they managed to get to the Time Gear, including going through the fake wall and getting past the Aggron and his fellow Lairon!
"Why did you stop out of nowhere?" Grovyle asked, me then recovering from that.
"This cave here... it used to be home to a Time Gear! I'll explain on the way out," I said, the duo gawking and nodding as we left the place and we then proceeded to go on our way towards the northwest, which would lead us to the next of the four Time Gears. "I saw that this place used to be called the Limestone Caves and I also saw a group of explorers here find the Time Gear many years in the past," I said as I then smirked at how, when I recalled the vision, I saw that the map that Lopunny had was, according to her, the most up-to-date one and... it was roughly 10 years prior to the falling of Temporal Tower!
"And what else? I can see a big smile forming," Celebi smirked at me.
"I also got the general timeline of where we should go back in time to stop it. The exact date of Temporal Tower's fall was November 23rd, 2013, at 3:43 PM. So if we want to do this, we'll need to go about a year beforehand," I smiled.
"Great! So how many more Time Gears do we need to find out the locations of?" Grovyle asked.
"We'll still need to find four more, as well as one more detail. The location of Temporal Tower and how to get there in the far past," I said, which made Celebi gulp.
"That would mean we'd need to go into direct danger... if we do that, we need to know you can help us escape. Facing Primal Dialga is a death wish," she said, me nodding at that.
"You could also help with your time travel, even if it were brief," I smiled.
"It won't be easy, he controls time itself, even if time no longer exists," Celebi sighed.
"Regardless, we need to find the other areas that have Time Gears. And there are 4 more that we need to find. We need to be quick. The faster we move, the less likely it is that we'll be noticed," I smiled.
"Good point," Grovyle said with a smile.
It took at least three weeks in order to not only completely gain the trust of Grovyle and Celebi, but also get them the knowledge of all the Time Gears and that we'd need to find the Hidden Land before we could get to Temporal Tower, but the only clue for the Hidden Land was the mark of a hero was needed to get there, a peculiar pattern of sorts. And then, after all of this, we had to be on the run towards the Passage of Time, because by that point, Dusknoir and his Sabeleye minions had caught onto our plan.
"We're almost there! Once we arrive, you two go into the Passage of Time and I'll close it so nobody follows you," Celebi said as we ran through the remnants of Foggy Forest in the far, paralyzed planet's future.
"Don't get caught, Celebi. If push comes to shove, you can bet Dusknoir will go back in time to catch us. And if he does, we need you to be ready to get us back to the past, okay?" I said, her nodding at that.
"Of course, Liz.. ah! There it is!" Celebi smirked as we found the Passage of Time at the very entry to what would be Fogbound Lake, Celebi then activated it and she then hid herself in a rift of time.
"Let's jump in, Grovyle, and fast!" I said, us then doing so... but as we were going through, I heard a voice on the side we'd just entered from.
"You will not succeed! DIE!" said the voice of Darkrai! I then got in the way of Grovyle and proceeded to use something to try and protect us. I saw that Darkrai was using the move Shadow Ball at us, so I threw some iron thorns at the ball of darkness, which actually made them explode prematurely! And after about four more volleys, I gasped at how I ran out of iron thorns! And then, Grovyle spoke.
"We're almost there, just hang on!" he said, me then gasping as the final attack that Darkrai sent at us was one that I knew would hurt a lot. Dark Pulse! I held my own against the attack, but it really fucking stung! And then, I screamed as he connected one final Shadow Ball and I felt something happen to me. I felt my form change as I was sent out of the portal and I fell right into the churning, stormy waters outside of... Sharpedo Bluff. But I quickly felt my body go underwater, me then trying desperately to get above the water for some slight breaths of air!
Every time that I did so, I was sent right back underwater! I fought tooth and nail in this helpless state for roughly 15 minutes before one final wave kicked up and slammed me right into the shoreline of the beach, me feeling drained and like I needed to sleep very badly.
"Rgh... at least... I can remember... some stuff..." I groaned... I tried to remember anything about where I was before I'd been sent to this world... but the only things I could remember was that I was American and I used to work as a doctor at the hospital... and then, I felt my mind go into a deep slumber... I really needed to sleep, even as I heard the thunder in the distance...
When I awoke next, I did so from the sounds of someone nudging me awake. "Are you okay? Please tell me you're okay!" I heard someone say, me hearing a male voice speak that. I then groaned awake and tried to stand up... and found myself with a bad front leg as I felt like it was very sprained.
"Ow... that storm packed a punch..." I groaned.
"You were conked out here... how long have you been here?" asked the voice, my vision then recovering enough for me to see that the owner of the voice was a... Galarian Ponyta. Meaning Psychic type.
"Since yesterday... I fell into the ocean during a nasty storm... and I got thrown around like a limp carrot..." I groaned.
"Who are you? I've never seen a Pokemon like you before? I'm Kiba the Psychic Ponyta," he smirked.
"I'm Lisette Funk... and I know I look weird, but... I used to be a human," I said.
"Huh? You used to be human? Then why do you look like... whatever you are?"
"I'm a ghost a normal type Zorua now... and I remember I got attacked by some kind of weird attack... a bright light, and then I fell into the water and turned into what you see now... I also know I came here to save the world from something nasty," I said, only saying half truths for a good reason. I remembered quite a lot, but I knew that Kiba wouldn't believe a word I said if I told him everything right away. So I needed to gain his trust first.
"I see... sorry for doubting you at first. It's just that things have been getting kind of dangerous since the outcropping of Mystery Dungeons," he said... and then both of us got tackled by the duo of Koffing and Zubat, which ended up making Kiba drop his bag he had situated over his neck and, in the process, he dropped the Relic Fragment.
"Whoopsie, hehe!" Zubat snickered.
"Hey! What was that for?!" Kiba asked angrily.
"What's the matter, little lady? Not gonna fight back?" Koffing asked.
"I am not a girl! I'm a boy! I'm sick of that!" Kiba shouted.
"So, this is yours, right 'sir'?" Zubat asked.
"N-No... that's..." he gasped as Koffing then took it and put it into a bag that was taped onto his stomach. "ACK!"
"Whoa-ho-ho! Not gonna take it back? What a wimp!" Koffing smirked, me then getting in front of the duo and preparing myself for battle.
"I don't take kindly to no-good thieves. Give that back, or face my fury," I growled at them.
"Heh heh, and who might you be, little girl? You gonna stick up for your girlfriend?" Zubat asked as I then proceeded to use an attack at Koffing, me using Scratch and me seeing that it not only was a critical hit, but it managed to make him hurt enough to drop the Relic Fragment right away!
"Hey! That does it! Take this!" Zubat shouted as he tried to tackle me, but he gasped as he went right through me, which I responded by scratching his wings, sending him to the ground shortly after.
"Y-You punks... we gotta get outta here!" Koffing shouted as the duo then ran off, leaving behind two other things that fell out of Zubat's bag, those being some oran berries and a couple apples.
"Thanks... I didn't know you could be so... so strong," Kiba admitted.
"I don't take kindly to bad guys, so they had it coming the moment they called you a girl. It's not like you can control your appearance, and I'm sure there are a whole lot of male Ponyta just like you, so why should you get singled out?" I smirked at Kiba.
"Thanks... it's just, this Relic Fragment is my personal treasure. I don't know what I'd do without it. It's my dream to become an explorer, and to find out the truth behind this thing... see the pattern on it?" he asked, me looking at it and smiling.
"It does look very ancient and peculiar. It might actually be the key to a very intricate contraption, but who knows what it goes to? It kind fills me with intrigue, too," I smirked.
"So... do you happen to know what you're going to do now?" Kiba asked, me sighing.
"Well... I remember a lot of what to do, but some things are a bit blurry, y'know, getting tossed around in the ocean, and all... maybe we can work together to find out more. And I'd like to ask if we could be partners?" I smiled at him.
"Partners... I got it! If we can become a rescue team, we could do a ton of exploration jobs AND we might find out more about your memories!... I tried to apply earlier, but I kind of chickened out... the grate always gets me. I think I might be better if you happen to go with me. Please?" Kiba asked, me nodding.
"Of course I'll help you. I'll be there to ease your nerves if anything happens, promise," I smiled at her.
"Okay! Let's get going, then!" Kiba smirked. And thus, our adventures would officially begin... I just had to hope Grovyle and Celebi were okay...
