Chapter 2

Elizabeth and Rose both sat together behind bars. Rose towards the back of the cell looking out the window with a solemn look upon her face.

"Will should be done talking to Lord Beckett…" Elizabeth said softly gripping the skirts of her gown.

Rose looked over at her sister. "Even if Cutler ordered something for us to be free it would take quite a bit…" Rose said softly, leaning back against the wall.

Elizabeth turned to look at her sister. "You don't think that he would be holding us here because you declined his proposal?"

Rose slowly got up to her feet, her hands brushing against her gown she wore. She let out a soft breath. "I wouldn't be surprised if he'd hold me here a bit longer than you or Will… I do imagine he is rather upset that I declined his proposal…"

"I can see why you declined his proposal though…"

Rose let out a soft chuckle as she heard footsteps coming in to see Will pushing past the guard.

"Here, now! You can't be here!"

Governor Swann had followed him into the room. "I believe he can."

"Mister Swann."

"Governor Swann, still. I'm not wearing this wig to keep my head warm, you know. Carruthers, isn't it? Enjoy your job, Mr. Carruthers?"

"Yes, sir. Particularly when the folks come to visit the prisoners."

"Very good." Governor Swann said with a small smile. He inclined his head towards the door.

Rose took a breath listening to what Will was saying that he needed to do.

"Jack's compass? Why would Beckett want that?" Elizabeth asked her brows furrowed together in worry.

"Nothin good I'd suspect." Rose said as she wrapped her arms around herself.

"Does it matter? I'm to find Jack and convince him to return to Port Royal. In exchange, the charges against us will be dropped."

"And you believe what he said?" Rose questioned looking at Will.

"I'm willing to go out on that branch, Rose."

Rose swallowed the lump in her throat. "Sometimes going out on a branch isn't always the best way to do things Will… There will be a lot of dangers out there in trying to bring Jack here."

"Well, that's it, then. We must find our own avenue to secure your freedom." Governor Swann said, looking at the three of them.

"Is that a lack of faith in Jack, or in me?" Will questioned turning to his soon to be father-in-law.

"That you would put your life at risk to save Sparrow's does not mean he would do the same for anyone else. Where is that silly dog with the keys?"

Rose let out a soft chuckle shaking her head grimly.

"I have faith in you, the both of you. It's Cutler Beckett that can't be trusted."

"If I hadn't set Jack free…"

"Don't say that. You were right."

"Elizabeth's right." Rose said softly. "You did what you thought was right."

Will took a step closer to Elizabeth. "I never expected you would bear the consequences…"

"I share the consequences gladly. How are you going to find him?" She questioned softly looking up into his brown eyes.

Will intertwined his fingers with hers around the bars. "Tortuga. I'll start there, and not stop searching until I do, and then I will come back here, and marry you."

Elizabeth moved closer as the bars would allow her to get to him. "Properly?"

"Eagerly. If you'll still have me."

"If it weren't for these bars I would have you already."

Rose cleared her throat shaking her head.

Will kissed her on her fingers before smiling softly. "Not much choice, is there. Keep a weather eye on the horizon." He said slowly, leaving the two of them alone with their father.

Their father eyed them concerned. He wasn't about to lose either one of his daughters to the gallows.

Rose moved forward looking at her father. Her hand wrapped around the bar as she noticed the tired look upon his face. "Father."

Governor Swann looked at his eldest daughter. "Rose…"

"You should try to get some rest." She admitted softly looking up at him with a worried gaze upon her face. "Today has been a long day."

Governor Swann came over towards his daughters. He carefully put his hand on his eldest daughter's hand squeezing it softly. "I'll be alright. I'm worried about the two of you."

Elizabeth gave her father a soft look. "We'll be fine in here for a little bit. We can trust Will to get Jack here and we'll be free."

"And I don't trust what Beckett has told him." Rose said softly. "We need to rest and figure out what Beckett has planned. He wouldn't have Will go after the compass so quickly. There has to be a reason that Beckett would want something so small." Rose took a breath looking at her father. "You should rest, father. We have to trust in Will for now…"

"I'm not watching the two of you go to the gallows."

"I'm sure that isn't what Beckett wants. I'm sure there is a reason behind all of this." Rose said softly she patted her father's hands softly. "But you need to rest father. There is nothing that you'll be able to do tonight."

"I promise I'll make sure to get you two of your freedom." Governor Swann said as he walked away from the two of them.

Rose took a breath looking at her sister. "You know he isn't going to have that much faith in Will. He's going to try to come up with an idea for us to be free."

Elizabeth took a soft breath. "I'm hoping that you're wrong on that one."

"For some reason I don't think he'll rest easy until he knows we're out of prison."

This is the end of Chapter 2. I hope that you enjoyed this chapter. I tried my best to write it out and make it a good read. I know some of my chapters will be a bit off with words. Either shorter or longer, but I'm trying my best to make sure that they're longer chapters. But I do apologize if the chapters are a bit short. Writing is hard when it comes to things. Please leave a review and let me know what you think of this chapter. Reviews help me keep going when it comes to writing. I hope to update with a new chapter soon. Until next time.
