I wanted to write for FTRTD, but instead, I wrote for this, not exactly complaining, but I know ya'll want the other completed ASAP. I'm eager to get to the next chapter...for obvious reasons. *Wink*
I meant to get back to writing back in June, but I moved to a new state recently (the best decision I ever made!), so I needed to settle down, look for a job, and whatnot! Now that I am, here we are! I will get to FTRTD right after this, so stay tuned for more chapters.

Chapter 2
Jade glanced at the trashy-looking couple next to her booth. Right away, even without her gift, she could tell they were up to no good. She could smell the male's arousal at the sight of her. She sighs in exasperation, used to that particular reaction. She acknowledges them with a simple greeting.
"Good evening," she replied coolly.
"Hey, I'm Denise Rattray, this is my husband, Mack. Welcome to Bon Temps." The trashy female says with a fake smile. Jade holds back a sneer, her face clearing of any emotions. She responds to them with a nod, cordial, but cold.
"Thank you. I'm Jade." Jade's lips curled into a polite smile, her patience masking the annoyance she felt at the interruption. Without asking, they move into her booth. Denise sat across from Jade, while Mack sat next to her, too close for her comfort. He leaned in closer, his cheap and terrible scent assaulting Jade's sensitive nostrils. She tries not to gag.
Mack smirks, trying to inconspicuously flex his arm, though Jade couldn't help but notice the lack of substance beneath the bravado. "Yeah, we are just pleased to know a vampire has finally moved to our little town. We always thought vampires were afraid to come here out of fear of being discriminated against."
"I mean, people have always discriminated against me." Denise purrs. Mack chuckles, giving Jade a wink.
"Oh boy, have they ever?" Jade arches an eyebrow, amused by their transparent attempt to impress her or show sympathy
"And just because I never felt like being what society wanted me to be, you know?"
"Me neither." He adds.
"So, we know what it's been like for you." Denise's eyes narrowed as she watched Sookie approach them with their drinks, Sookie glared back at her; not afraid to show her how she really felt about the both of them. She places the drinks on the table, she takes a peek at Denise who has her gaze fixed on Jade's delicate neck.
"Can I get ya'll anything else?" Sookie grits with her crazy Sookie smile.
Sookie immediately drops her shields, not trusting the look on Denise's face. At the same time, as if on cue, Jade can sense the change in Sookie's mood and drops her shields as well. Jade's acute senses picked up on their intent the moment they invited themselves to her booth. She frowned internally as she heard Denise contemplating her as nothing more than a means to financial gain.
Both can hear what Denise is thinking.
I've heard vampires' blood is super potent. She's not very big but looks like she'll make 12 pints. Holy shit, that's almost 200 ounces! Think about the profit we could make if we could sell her blood to the highest bidder. That has to be almost ten thousand dollars, Jesus!
For a moment, Sookie stiffened in fear and uttered, "I'm going to bring ya'll a free round of beer, okay?" Mack glances at Sookie with irritation, willing her to go away. Turning her attention back to Jade, she gave her a look. "Don't go anywhere." She says walking away.
And then, a soft voice echoed in Jade's mind, a voice she immediately recognized as Sookie's—the telepathic waitress who had just befriended her.
Jade, can you hear them? They're thinking about using your blood for profit. We need to do something.
Jade's eyes widened subtly as she realized Sookie was attuned to the situation as well. The connection between them, one they had been developing since their first meeting, seemed to surge with a newfound energy. It was as if their powers were amplifying each other's strengths. It was a strange sensation, but it seemed as if their minds connected on a different level.
Jade gave the nervous waitress a nod, letting her know she heard her.
It's okay. I'll handle them.
This made Sookie stiffen with fear. What did she mean by handling them? She wasn't seriously going to kill them…was she? Noticing the look of panic on the waitress's face, Jade quickly reassured her.
Take it easy, doll. I won't kill them, merely glamour them into turning themselves into the police.
Sookie internally sighed in relief, smiling with a single nod and then walking away. Jade also smiled to herself. She knew exactly what to do with this trashy couple. She wasn't going to have to lay a finger on them, she was going to let the prison system do that for her. She used her mind's ability to get inside the heads of the couple and ordered them to go home and wait for her call. First things first, she had to report this to her local superior. The thought made her groan in irritation. She pinches the bridge of her nose, not looking forward to seeing him again.
Eric Northman, the Sheriff of Area 5.
By midnight, the last call was announced by Sam Merlotte. After 30 minutes, the entire bar was empty and Jade was still seated in her section; waiting as Sookie asked. The waitress approached her again. "I'll be right with you in a moment. I should be done in 10 minutes, okay?"
"Take your time," Jade replies with a smile. Sookie gave a nod, went behind the bar to pick up a damp rag, and started cleaning all her tables. While Jade sat there looking out the window, she could feel the Shifter's eyes on her. She turned her head to look at him, giving him a smirk. He just glared back at her.
A phone vibrated in her pocket, breaking her stare contest with Merlotte. She grabbed her phone from her inside her jacket, noticing a reminder of her meeting with Eric Northman. It was in 30 minutes.
Fuck. If I'm going to make this, I'll need to leave now. She got up from her booth and approached Sookie with a blank look on her face.
"Excuse me, Miss Stackhouse?" She looked up from her task. "You think you can write the directions down on some paper for me? I have a meeting I can't really miss…" She trailed off.
"Yes, of course!" She grabs her notepad from the pocket of her apron and a pen, scribbling down the address, along with directions on how to get there. She ripped the paper from her pad, handing it to Jade, who beamed and gave a smile.
"Thanks a lot. I will see you around then!" She says, disappearing through the doors. Sookie shook her head laughing. Sam snorted, making her give him an annoyed look. She shook her head and continued cleaning her tables.
This night was definitely an interesting night for Sookie. She may have even made a new friend.
What do ya think?
