I didn't mean to take such a long (nearly a year-!) break sorry. I plan on returning to weekly updates soon at least by the end of the month luck and istis willing.

"Why are you here?" Angus finally asks Magnus at supper one night.

It's Magnus's fifth in Neverwinter town. For once it's not supper at Taako's, like it normally is when folks are visiting. Instead Angus and Magnus are outside a food truck (Greasy Sally's) after the four of them had been to see a show. It hadn't been a great show but it was still pretty funny. Taako and Kravitz are heading to a dance club. and Magnus might join them once Angus decides if he's stopping at home seeing as it's a weekend night or going back to his dorm room.

But things are still strained between the wizard and his magic boy. Taako is still denying stepping foot in the teashop…

(So is Kravitz. Badly. even though both were in there just this morning. WITH MAGNUS.)

"Really I mean?" Angus pressed, as he's handed his order.

"Checking up on you." Magnus says truthfully. Before shovelling a huge bite of chicken bread wrap in his face.

"Carey told me you had a job. and when I asked Lup and 'Cretica, separately, they both said to 'shut the fuck up because it was a secret. but yeah'. and all threethreatened me with spells and violence. so, I wanted to know what was going on?"

At least he's honest.

Magnus continued, "but I felt uncomfortable spying on you, like Taako is. NOT. Taako definitely hasn't been in, nope forget I said that. But it's actually really boring spying on you by the way, even with rouge shit? So I just come in and relax."

"Well…okay. But there's no need to be rude about it." Angus sighs.

"Counterpoint." Magnus with his mouth full. "Why are you working there, Ango. And er Why didn't tell me?"

"It wasn't a big deal." Angus shrugged. "There was a help wanted sign. and I thought 'I can help'. So, I went in."

Magnus grinned at that. And claps him hard across the back proudly. "That's my boy!"

"You nearly sent my food into me!" Angus complains laughing and bats him off. Especially when Magnus goes to ruffle his hair with greasy fingers.

"I'd been in Cosies once or twice before you started working there, you know." Magnus said. "Not to sit in mind but I knew it was a nice place. And how busy it could be."

"Yeah, it does get busy. but it's only really busy when the ten oh five and the five oh ten trains come in. and the lunch time rush?" Angus says. "The rest of the day is pretty quiet. And it's not a full-time job? I don't think anyone's there full time really. save for Dale and Big Brenda. Oh and Mrs Cosie herself. But she lives below the flour store, it's a little bungalow. So she's nearly always around anyway."

"So it's not for a case?" Magnus frowns. "you're not pretending to work there to gather intel or shit?"

"No. I am working there. For real." Angus had expected more of an argument or teasing. But Magnus just shrugs.

"Cool. If it's making you happy, Ango that's all that matters. And hands on work is good for the soul. Even making drinks."

"It's nice to get out of school and studying." Angus agrees. "As much as I love books and magic."

"Exactly. Down with homework!" Magus smiles, "I mean it's just a job, right? You're still doing the nerd stuff and shit?"

Angus isn't upset at that remark. not the 'nerd stuff' bit anyway. And he knows Magnus isn't being malicious or deliberately a dick. But it does still kinda of hurt. A little bit.

"Yeah." He shrugs with a sigh, suddenly more interested in poking the grease of his halloumi kebab with his wooden spork. "…just a job."

Magnus must have a rather passive perception without carrying so much of his fighter junk. Because he goes back to the discussion of Barry's bad show recommendation and Davenport's latest postcards. And doesn't pick up on anything when Angus decides he'll stay at his dorms that night.
