Chapter 2: Squad Solidarity
Rudy walks through town on his way to school then stops at the sight a a tour bus, looking like a Viking boat, immediately breaking in front of him, causing him to yap and drop his headphones, inside the bus, people were curious by the commotion and it's driver, looking like an old Viking, slowly tilted his head.
"Apologies for the unplanned interruption folks."
He said in an Irish or Scotland or old Viking accent, then covered the mic.
"Well look what rained down from above, Buckwheat."
He said to his Sheep who did a Grr at Rudy.
"Morning, Mister- Uhh, Captain Gordon Fightdeck, sir."
Rudy said doing a salute and walking out of the way.
"Aren't yee one of them Scalemans?"
He asked making Rudy stop.
"Guilty."
Giggling nervously as everyone looked at him sus while tilting the bus over.
"Just kidding! Not guilty, totally normal."
"Is he Green?"
Asked one of the tourists.
"I'm from Canada... eh?"
He revealed a Canada clip on his bag while the Canadian theme played.
"Oh... That totally makes sense."
Everyone just started to act normal again.
"I've got me eye on you Scaleman Boy. And me other eye too!"
He pointed out as his sheep did the same thing.
"Our tour begins when 15 years ago, I swear I saw the Monstrous Giant Dragon."
The Captain said in the mic as he drove off with Rudy waving.
"Now on your Right, Cloudside's best selling Cloud Burgers..."
Rudy heard his phone ring and his friends were Checking in.
"Hey Guys."
"Yo."
"Greetings."
"Sooo... how did it go?"
"Yes, I'm dying to find out."
"Same, I've been stress gaming."
"Well it's official, after a really convincing presentation, Mom will let me go to prom, and I know it's not what we wanted, but we still have plan B: Our very cool anti-prom party, and what is the most liberated food out there? Guys, I'm talking fondue."
Rudy finished while his friends didn't look surprised.
"Rudy, Uhh... I'm just gonna come right out of it and say, Kayla asked me to the Prom and I said Prom Idea."
Margot snorted.
"In other words, I said yes."
"What?"
"I said yes."
"Oh no, I got that, loud and clear."
Rudy said sliding between people who stepped away from him who realized and acted normal.
"So Margot torn our hearts into a million tiny pieces, but that's fine, that means more fondue for the rest of us, right guys?"
Rudy walking up to school passing other students and dodging a frisbee coming right at him.
"Yeah Uhh... Once Margot was going with Kayla, Trevon said oh well, should we go together? and I agreed, so Trevon and I are going to the Prom together... as friends."
Bliss said not making it like a date.
"Heh, yeah, only as friends."
Trevon backed her up clearing his throat.
"What? WHAT!?"
Rudy said as he walked up to his friends and they looked up at him.
"Sorry Rudy."
"But we promised to stick together! Does "Squad Solidarity" mean nothing to you?"
"Well of Course it does, which is why you should come with us, you be on a Skyscraper, you'll be completely safe."
"Unless there's a Tragic Accident."
"Bliss! No catastrophizing."
"Sorry."
"You guys know my Mom, that's why we made plan B, Margot just bring Kayla to our anti-prom party, will watch back movies, will dip swiss."
"Enough with the fondue! We eat. A lot. Of Cheese!"
"Wheels of it."
Trevon backed up Margot.
"Think about how many events we missed in "Squad Solidarity" because of your Mom's irrational anti-sky rule."
"I guess... a few?"
"A few? There was the trip to the Aviary."
"The Bird watch field trip."
"Couldside Rock climbing expedition."
"The Paragliding contest."
"The Kite fun run."
"The Could Formation Air show."
"The Jet Air Show."
"My Grandmother's birthday party."
"Kayla's birthday party."
"Any birthday party except for Bliss's."
"Your always welcome at the graveyard."
"But this isn't just any party, this is prom... and I really wanna be apart of it... we all do."
Margot said as everyone else nodded, making Rudy feel bad.
"Guys, I had no idea, I get it, you should go without me, it's one thing for my Mom to ruin my life, she doesn't have to ruin yours."
"Uhh... what if you don't tell her?"
"GASP with Exclamation! Trevon's right, you're Mom doesn't have to know."
"Deception, I'm on board."
"Come on Rudy, do it."
"Do it!"
Encouraging him made Rudy feel nervous.
"I want too, but if my mom founds out, I..."
"Oh life is not a Dress Rehearsal! It's time for you to go big and Go! To! Prom!"
Margot Exclaimed all up in Rudy's face.
"Ok! Ok, ok, you're right... Ok I'll do it! I'll go to Prom."
He said looking relieved.
"YES!"
He then smiled thinking about it.
"And, I'm gonna ask Kat."
"Kat?"
Margot said while Bliss and Trevor looked at each other.
"Ok, that... that's a big swing there, but we're are here for it, step 1: You're going to need a "Prom-posal" so who's got any people? any ideas?"
"Maybe I can ask her with something epic, like... an advanced quadratic equation, and when I solve it, the answer is... prom."
Rudy said putting in an equation on his phone and it said "Prom?" he felt like it was a good idea, but his Friends... well Margot nearly collapsed, but Bliss and Trevor caught her.
"Rudy, my sweet, wide eyed, dumbest smart person ever, you cannot ask Kat to Prom with homework!"
"But, look how it Graphs, it's cool."
"It is not cool, a good prom-posal is art."
Margot said as the scene changes to the school hallway with everyone doing proposals for their crushes.
"Showmanship is the name of the game in this hormone-fueled benchmark of adolescence, a ritual that embodies the ultimate in high risk, high reward. Now, you get that one shot at prom, and one shot at persuading your Juliet that you are her Romeo, and with stakes this high, the only option is to go big!"
"Everyone, don't forget to RSVP at prom, the most important day of your lives."
Said the P.A. speakers as Rudy checked out every prom-posal while looking at his and then...
"I almost asked Kat to prom with homework."
He said opening is locker and realizing he was about to make a big mistake.
"See? We gotcha Ru, there are so many other options."
Margot said as Rudy closed his locker.
"Here, this is a first draft, but with this script and my prop from clown school..."
She tossing all her equipment to Rudy who flet like this is a bit much.
"Mm, I don't know, do you have something a little smaller?"
"Tone down the drama, you say? I know just the thing. Behold!"
She said pulling out some kind of thing-a-ma-gig.
"What's that?"
"A Commercial-Grade DJ Confetti Cannon, just ask Kat to Prom, push this button, and the confetti will rain down like closing night on Broadway."
She finished making Rudy feel like this is a bad idea while putting the stuff down.
"Uh, maybe I abandon this whole, Ask your dream girl to prom."
Just then, a girl looking like she's popular around walking through a crowed hallway making Rudy look up gasping, the girl revealed her face wearing glasses and waving in her brown hair the air.
"Kat..."
Rudy sighed as his crush start to run and jump, floating to Rudy.
"Catherine, would you do me the honor of going to human prom with me?"
"Oh Rudy, Yes! Oh, you make me the happiest girl on land Rudy!"
They giggled and hugged.
"Catherine."
"Rudy."
"Rudy...?"
Said an echo as Rudy opened his eyes saw his crush.
"Hi."
"Kat's here."
"Uhh Yeah, Kat's here."
She giggled making Rudy realize he's daydreaming and saw he's hugging a bag.
"Oh! Oh... Hi! Hi, hi. hi."
He said pushing the bag away.
"Hey, Uhh... so we're still on for our tutoring sesh later, right?"
"Oh heh, Oh, yeah, Kat, we are on like polygons."
"Alright, team math, I'll see you later then."
"You know it, anything for my Geo-bae."
"You're what now?"
"I mean sis! G-Geo-sis. Like you're my sister, you're my math sister."
He giggled with his foot tapping the floor really fast making a little crack, Kat then giggled.
"You know, I think I liked the first one better."
She said walking pass Rudy he looked behind, watching here walk away and had a big smile on his face.
"Give me that Confetti Cannon!"
He said with his hand out.
"Yes!"
Margot said coming in from the side with the cannon in her hands.
To be continued.
