In the occupied southern Republic Capital, civilians walked by Panzer tanks manned by Fascist Otherworlders as a portal opened up and out walked a commander with blue hair and an armband of the Imperial Japanese military, followed by several others. One Nazi scoffed at the sight of them.
"Look at them, Japanese low lifes. think they are worthy of fighting alongside the 5th Reich," the Soldier said to another. He didn't notice the blue-haired commander looking back at him from the corner of his eyes.
'One sign, and they fall,' he thought.
"Ah Major Shiota," said the Nazi commander as he walked up to him. "Welcome to the new universe."
"Thank you. I trust we'll be able to do well in our conquest."
"Indeed. The reapers say this world is bountiful for our nations. Oh and I saw the look you gave my men. Obergefreiter (Corporal) SMITH!" the Nazi commander shouted to the arrogant soldier, getting him to salute him and stand at attention.
"Y... YES SIR?!" the man said. The commander pointed at the ground near him
"HERE! NOW!" the Nazi commander shouted.
The soldier nodded and ran over to the two commanders. Arriving, the Nazi soldier saluted them again. The Nazi commander then looked at Major Shiota.
"If you wish, you may. No one will stop you." the Nazi Commander said as he took steps backwards. The Major looked between the confused soldier and the commander before shrugging. The soldier blinked, and suddenly he was looking behind him, despite not turning at all.
'Wh-?' the soldier collapsed, unable to finish any thoughts.
"Hopefully we'll be able to avoid such, unpleasantries, from now on." the Major said as he wiped his hands. The Nazi commander nodded his head
"Just like the battle of the Grand Canyon. We fought hard and I have much respect for you and the Japanese Empire, Major Shiota." The Nazi Commander then walked over to a Soldier behind Major Shiota who had a big bust and her hair in a ponytail.
"Hello there Madam Yada. Always a pleasure." he said before taking her hand and kissing it. "I trust the trip here was to your liking?"
"Naturally. Good service, and such." she said politely while taking her hand away. The Nazi Commander nodded his head and walked off.
Later, Nagisa and John looked at Atlanta.
"So, what exactly are we looking at?" Nagisa said.
"The Capital of the Southern Republic. where my first alliance formed... a shame to see it in such a state," John said as he looked at all the Fascist propaganda
"Indeed. It's quite a poor state," Nagisa said as he stood beside John. "Let's kick these Fascists back to their own world."
"Let's do it." John said with a smile. He followed Nagisa to a tank where Bertrand and Shiota were looking over a map.
"If we go street by Street, our push would get caught in crossfires." Bertrand pointed out.
"True, but if we push too fast there'd be pockets of resistance left. It's like the Battle of Stalingrad." Shiota said to his companion. Bertrand nodded his head and saw Nagisa and John joining them.
"Ah Nagisa, Mr. President, we were just discussing our plan of attack," Bertrand said to them
"What have we got so far?" Nagisa asked
"Well for starters we have no doubts that the enemy will use snipers to snipe at all officers and people giving orders. The skyscrapers make for perfect vantage points. We'd clear them out floor by floor, room by room, but that would slow the push. We push too fast, we'd get small pockets of resistance and we'd be fighting a war on two fronts. What's worse is that there are some who might use civilians as cover so we can't needlessly bomb the shit out of them.
"Yeah, if we don't do this right, we're facing a Stalingrad scenario." Shiota told Nagisa.
"The Stalingrad scenario?" Nagisa tilted his head.
"The battle of Stalingrad? Where Russians were surrounded by Germans and put up a stiff resistance until the Germans were on the run?" Bertrand said with confusion.
"The battle of Stalingrad? Was there such a battle during WW2, General Shiota?" John asked, looking at Nagisa. The blue haired general thought back to history and then shook his head.
"I haven't heard of such a battle." He told them, shocking Shiota and Bertrand
"Hang on... the battle of Stalingrad never happened here? Just so we're clear, Germany and the Soviet Union did end up fighting each other right?" Shiota asked in confusion.
"Yes of course in Operation Barbarossa. But there was never a battle of Stalingrad." John told the two Otherworlders.
"Ok..., we expected there to be differences in the worlds, that's a big one. Anyway, a Stalingrad Scenario is where there are pockets of resistance against the attacking army and they hold out until they can't or get reinforced." Bertrand told them.
"Sounds like desperation." John said as he looked at them. Shiota and Bertrand nodded their heads
"Back in our world. The Soviet Union soldiers were desperate. Around the time that the battle started, Joseph Stalin signed order 227. Not one step backwards. Anyone who did was put in jail or executed." Bertrand told them
"So he told them to be a wall." Nagisa pointed out as John deadpanned.
"Pretty much yeah." Bertrand said as he sat on the tread of a tank.
"My word... that Stalin was a mad man. I mean he was here, but it never got to the point he'd order THAT!" John said as he was visibly shaken.
"That is terrible, yes, but we've seen worse. The problem here is what he was willing to sacrifice," Shiota said as he put his helmet on his side
"Yeah, and with the Japanese and Germans here, we'll be dealing with Banzi charges and suicide bombers," Bertrand said as he got a report from his infiltration team. "Fuck... they got Major Shiota and his team here."
"Are you saying we have to deal with yet another me?" Nagisa asked, shocked and exasperated at how many versions of himself were evil.
"Yeah, these E-class members are imperially loyal to the Japanese Empire. They were made into fanatics when they were born," Bertrand said as he loaded a round into the chamber of his gun. "Our best bet is to catch them off guard."
"And in order to do that, we need information. Get as much as you can, then report back as soon as possible. Let's eliminate these guys before they do anything," Nagisa said to Bertrand and Shiota.
Bertrand nodded his head before sensing a group of soldiers before aiming at the foliage where a group of soldiers appeared.
"DROP YOUR WEAPONS!" shouted the leader of the soldiers.
"We're gonna have to relocate. Again." Nagisa sighed as he aimed back at them as well.
"WAIT!" Shouted John before looking at the group of newly arrived soldiers, "Colonel Blake..."
"Well well well, if it isn't the former ally president Bertrand. Finally we have the leader of the Bertrand Republic," said Colonel Blake.
Nagisa looked at John and asked, "John, you know this guy?"
"Yeah, Colonel Blake, he was one of the Southern Republic's most respected Colonels. Could have been a general the way he barked orders. Colonel, we have a long story to tell you." John said to the Colonel, who looked around as his men were outnumbered.
"Very well Mr. President. Stand Down Havoc." Colonel Blake said to his men.
"A colonel who raids an enemy camp in an all out offense with only 10 soldiers? Truly a worthy promotion," Karma said sarcastically.
"HEY! The Colonel here saved the lives of his men back in the Gulf War and the Afghan War. He deserves respect!" John said, defending the colonel. He told Colonel Blake and his men the truth and about how he was fighting to free all the nations under Bertrand Republic Rule.
"That's the gist of it. What are your thoughts?" Nagisa said. Colonel Blake blinked and sighed.
"That would explain all the multiple copies of the President, you, and others," he said. "So to make sure I got it all, the president that took over the republics is an evil version of you, Mr. President. That the Japanese army here is here with help from other worlds to liberate the US?" Colonel Blake said to confirm things
"Yep." John told him.
"I gotta say Mr. President... it's a big leap of faith you're asking us to take," the Colonel said as he held onto his gun.
"Do you really think that I would work so hard to rebuild our country, only to tear it all down with war?" John pointed out.
"True... but the last time I saw you Mr. President... was when you shot my own president in her head." The Colonel said to John.
"I never held a gun in my life!" John shouted. Colonel Blake blinked at him and sighed.
"Look Mr President, the army in the town, they're real pieces of work. I saw one guy have his own subordinate killed." Colonel Blake said as he leaned forward
"Lucky you. We've seen Berserk-level stuff," Karma interjected.
"I'm not gonna sugarcoat this. Our enemy is messed the hell up," Nagisa said to them all. "We've seen the Republic do things that the devil wouldn't do. So, even if you don't believe what your real president is saying, maybe believe that either way, helping us, is actually helping your country."
Colonel Blake looked at his men and they all nodded their heads.
"Very Well, help us free Atlanta and we'll help you."
"Sounds like we have a deal."
Colonel Blake nodded his head. Later at night, Bertrand and his team snuck into the occupied City. Bertrand motioned to Akabane and Shiota to take the left side as HAyami and Chiba took to the rooftops to scope out the city.
"Alright, just like Dover." Akabane said.
"You and I remember Dover very differently," Shiota replied as they jogged to their spot stealthily. Bertrand and Sugino stealthed along the right side and avoided enemy patrols. Bertrand and Sugino stealthed along the right side and avoided enemy patrols
"Damn, not a single citizen's out."
"We should keep looking. Make sure we don't miss anything"
Bertrand nodded his head and looked down a corner before stopping Sugino and motioning him to back up. They hid as a Panzer 3 Tank rolled by them
"Ah, man. they got a damn tank!" Sugino said quietly.
"Yeah, and maybe more than 1, this is going to be tough."
"Okay, here's the plan. You draw its attention, and I'll punch it in the radiator."
Bertrand nodded and jumped up and in front of the tank. Dressing as a civilian, he picked up a beer bottle and acted drunk as he stumbled in front of the tank's path.
"Hey! Clear off the road!" the driver yelled. Sugino jumped onto the back of the tank and began punching it like it was Halo.
"Stupid Bitch! Cheating on me with my brother of all people! It's YOUR FAULT!" Bertrand said before throwing the beer bottle.
"Dammit, come on!" Sugino grunted as he continued punching it in the radiator. Bertrand was approached by two soldiers.
"Move off the road, buddy. We got places to be." the first order. Somehow, no one noticed Sugino still punching the tank.
Bertrand pushed him away and that was when Sugino got the grate off
"Okay, here we go!" Sugino said. He paused.
"... Wait a minute." he took a grenade and pushed it inside before jumping off. The soldiers flinched as the tank suddenly blew up. "Hah ha! Finally!"
Bertrand smiled and knocked them out.
"Let me get this straight." Nagisa said over the radio a couple minutes later. "You punched it in the radiator?"
"Yeah. Once it opened, I decided to use a grenade instead. Punching it was taking too long."
"That's because that's not how radiators work." Nagisa said, exasperatedly. "They help keep the tank cool, not unexploded!"
"... Oh..." Sugino and Bertrand said awkwardly.
"I guess this is why Itona handles the machines." Karma snarked.
"Anyway general, we took their uniforms and will plant explosives in the armory." Bertrand told Nagisa
"Good. Be careful."
"Roger that," Bertrand said before he and Sugino went to the armory.
Bertrand and Sugino arrived at the Nazi Armoury and noticed a van parked out back.
"Strange," Bertrand said as he and Sugino entered the Armoury
"Uh, at least it's not windowless," Sugino said.
Bertrand nodded his head and noticed a guard and waved, but the guard didn't respond. Walking closer, John picked up the smell of blood and tapped the guard, making him fall onto the ground and it was revealed that the guard was killed.
"... Don't like this." Sugino said.
"Yeah." Bertrand said as he pulled out his pistol when he noticed the Armoury door opened. Looking in, he saw military men wearing Nazi clothes stealing ammunition.
"Hey," he said, getting their attention. The three men turned and Bertrand saw they were a Black man, a Chinese man, and a Latin American man. Since he had his pistol out and they were unarmed, the three put their hands up.
"Okay, so what's going on here?" Sugino said as he aimed at the people too.
"We could ask you two the same thing," Said the Black man. Bertrand put his pistol away and said, "We're here to help free the Southern Republic."
"Oh cool, then we're on the same side, we're with the Southern Republic Army Resistance," said the Latin American Man, "Name's Sanchez, this is Ping and Todd." The Chinese and Black men nodded their respective heads. The two soldiers exchanged looks before backing up.
"Come out, but slowly." Sugino said. The three resistance soldiers walked out with their hands still raised up.
"We're with the Japanese Alliance and we're here to help those under the Betrand Republic thumb." Bertrand told the three.
"So if you want to do the same, how about doing it properly?" Sugino said. "After a background and personality check cause I swear these guys are managing to be cartoonishly evil and edgy evil and balancing it out."
"Seriously?" Bertrand said to Sugino
"Have you seen the things they've been doing? Of course you have. You delivered the news!" Sugino said.
Bertrand rolled his eyes and said, "Look, let's focus on the mission."
"Sure. Lead the way."
Bertrand nodded his head and led the five man team towards their destination, the Nazi tank depot.
"Alright. I nearly broke my hand on one of these, so let's steal the rest." Sugino said.
"No, we got enough tanks as is. Unless you wanna steal one and cause mayhem?" Bertrand said.
"Let's do it."
Bertrand nodded and looked at Sanchez, Ping and Todd.
"Any of you guys know how to drive a tank?" he asked. All three of them nodded their heads.
"Alright, time to get out of here with style." Sugino said.
Bertrand pointed to a Tiger I tank and had them get in it while he set the explosives. Afterwards he got in the command seat and spoke.
"Ping, take us out of here." Bertrand said.
"Let's make some noise! As long as they're not our screams of pain as we die excruciating deaths like being crushed inside her, or being trapped and burning alive." Sugino said.
"Ok then..." Ping said as he drove the tank out of the Depot. After getting a good distance away, Bertrand pressed the detonator and blew up the rest of the tanks. He contacted Nagisa.
"General! Tank Depot Destroyed!" he shouted into the radio.
"Good. Head back and- are you riding a tank?"
"Yes, launch the attack! We linked up with some members of the Southern Republic Army Resistance and are going to sow chaos in the Nazi's ranks," Bertrand said as he filled him in. "You hear me, General? LAUNCH THE ATTACK!" Bertrand said as he and his commando squad opened fire on Nazis coming out of their barracks.
"Roger that. Moving in!" Nagisa said before the radio transmission was cut off.
"Did he say they took a tank?" John asked as Nagisa got into the jeep. Nagisa nodded his head and sighed.
"I'm not surprised." Nagisa said.
"How much do you know about that version of me?" John asked before Nagisa signaled the army to attack.
"Well, he's a multiversal traveler who was originally a bounty hunter working with the versions of me and my friends in that world. He has a lot of adventures, a couple of secrets, and a way to stop this war. I know a decent amount." Nagisa told John as they drove their jeep with the army.
"Do you trust him fully?" John asked as they led the attack. Nagisa looked at him and went back to the road.
"Well, he's given us very little reason to doubt him. But still, it's war. Never trust anyone fully. Just enough." Nagisa said to the president. John nodded his head and pulled out his new Assault rifle and looked at the Japanese Jets flying overhead. The Japanese alliance-Bertrand Republic battle for Atlanta had begun.
"Heh. It's, it's kind of ironic. Isn't it?" Nagisa said. John looked at him with confusion.
"What's that general?" John asked him
"Decades ago, Japan helped bring the world near the end of its existence out of mere paranoia. Now, we're trying to save it."
"chuckles What do you know? That is ironic. I promise to help Japan in any way I can when this is all over." John told Nagisa as Alliance tanks began to fire at the enemy forces.
"We'll have a lot to do." Nagisa replied. John agreed and when their Jeep came to a halt, he jumped out and opened fire at Nazi soldiers in their chests.
"Wow, those quick tips are helping. Thank you again, General." John said as he took down more enemy soldiers.
"You're welcome, but you're wasting your ammo. Take your time, aim properly, and fire." Nagisa said as he fired seven precise shots and landed seven headshots.
John nodded and took more precise Shots. That was when a Nazi tank rolled up a street and was struck in the back. Suddenly a Tiger I came into view with Bertrand out of the hatch and waved at them.
"I see you brought a party." Nagisa said.
"Oh yeah! The Local Resistance forces are helping as well. We need to get to the Capitol Building. That's were the main hard defense line is located
"Alright. Take a team and cut through the lines. Don't try to take it down completely by yourself, but try to do just enough to weaken it and make us an opening."
"Roger! WOLVERINE BATTALION WITH ME!" Bertrand shouted as a small group of Alliance tanks followed him to distract the enemy
"... Nerd," Nagisa said, amused.
"Huh?" John asked after shooting a mortar that was about to be launched at them
"Never mind." Nagisa said as soldiers gathered around him, prepared to fight.
"Ok then..." John said in confusion. Nagisa addressed the men around him
"Listen up! We all know we've faced battle after battle. I know you men are tired and some have battle-fatigue. But I swear, once we liberate this city from those who occupy it, we will have a hard rest to let you all relax. I promise you that I will make sure of that." Nagisa said to his men. "So keep fighting for our alliance, for liberty, for our future."
John saw how Nagisa inspired his men and it made him question his duties as a leader. That was when there was an explosion near the Capitol building.
"General! WE GOT THEIR ATTENTION! THE FASCIST VERSIONS OF YOU ARE IN THERE! Be careful!" Bertrand said over the Radio as he and the tanks with him began to pull the stubborn defenders away.
"Oh dear. John, you stay here and lead the army. Even if you struggle, they're good enough to pick up your slack. I'll deal with my counterpart personally." Nagisa said. John nodded his head and watched Nagisa leave while he looked at the men under his command.
"I know I've been given a bad rep... but I'm gonna try hard to fix what my evil counterpart did." he said to the men. Meanwhile, Nagisa easily shot across the battlefield, occasionally slowing down to help out a few soldiers with a well-placed knife or bullet. The soldiers he helped were grateful as he ran past them. Soon he met up with Shiota ducked behind a damaged halftrack as shots rained down on him.
"Welcome to the Capitol building fight sir." Shiota said as he opened fire at the Fascists holding the building. "Fascist us is held up with the Nazi commander and Fascist Ryu and Rinka have taken up positions in the top. from here we have no way to take them down."
"Hm... We can't go under, and we can't go at them from the side. We'll have to hit them from above. Aim for Ryu and Rinka first. They're the biggest threats." Nagisa said. "I'll distract them. You go around and take them out. On my mark." Shiota nodded his head and pulled out a Blaser R93 Tactical Bolt-Action Sniper rifle with a Scope readied.
"Ready." Shiota said as he got ready to aim.
"Go around." Nagisa reminded him. "Mark!" The General opened fire on where he'd assumed the two snipers were, letting his counterpart immediately sprint, utilizing his stealth skills. Shiota got to a new spot and looked where he saw a shot come from. Aiming and firing, he struck Fascist Ryu's own Blaser R93 Tactical.
"Damn," Fascist Ryu grunted as he took cover behind the wall. "These Nagisas are smart like our leader."
"Hm... Change positions." Fascist Rinka suggested. The two snipers moved quickly. When Nagisa peeked out to aim again, he had to quickly duck back under cover as bullets struck his cover. It looked like they were switching locations at random, making it difficult for him to take aim.
"Damn it," Nagisa said as he tried to figure out their locations.
"General, come in." Said Shiota's voice from an object near Nagisa. "General, if you see the MARK V ZETA helmet, put it on."
"I see a helmet. What is it?" he asked as he slipped it on.
"It's a helmet we use for communication without the enemy hearing us. Seems like they're moving locations so we can't get a beat on them. I got a plan. I see a disabled Tiger II tank about 10 meters away from the Halftrack. if you can make it there and they fire at you, I can get a beat on them." Shiota said to Nagisa. Looking behind the half track, Nagisa also saw the disabled Tiger II tank.
"Alright. We only have a few seconds at most, so do what you can and do it fast. Execute on my mark. Sync?"
"Sync," Shiota replied as he loaded a round into the chamber. "Ready."
Nagisa quickly fired another shot blindly. Returning fire hit his cover, causing part of it to collapse.
"Mark!" Nagisa said before rocketing towards the tank. The Fascist versions of Ryu and Rinka quickly swapped places and aimed at Nagisa, firing right as he ducked behind the tank.
"Gotcha," Shiota said as he shot the round and struck Fascist Ryu in his left lung. Fascist Ryu Stumbled around before looking at Fascist Rinka and falling out of the window to his death. Fascist Rinka roared and began firing at random. Despite this, both Nagisa's had to move quickly as her bullets ricocheted and nearly struck them several times. All throughout the battlefield, soldiers on either side were falling as sniper fire pierced their skulls. Nagisa took a shot, but a bullet shot his bullet out of the air and disarmed him, forcing him back under cover.
"Well, at least their relationship seems to be consistent," he remarked.
"Yeah. General, there's a clear shot into the building from your position. Get in there I got you covered." Shiota said as he fired another round at Fascist Rinka's position.
The sniper whirled around and immediately fired several shots. The bullets lined up perfectly to slam into each other, pushing the first one through the cover and nicking the edge of Shiota's cheek. He eyed the hole warily.
Meanwhile, Nagisa dashed into the building while the sniper was distracted. He ducked inside and immediately got into a ready position.
"You in, sir?" Shiota said from his new hiding spot. inside the Building, Fascist Toka held her Arisaka Type 38 when she heard something shuffling by the doorway. Looking, she saw two guards down.
"Tawagoto..." Fascist Toka said before she went for her radio when she felt a pistol to the back of her head. Nagisa held it up to her head and told her to drop her rifle.
"Yeah, I'm in," He said, his voice unheard due to the helmet. Fascist Toka slowly rose up, before whirling around and trying to attack him. Nagisa practically slithered through her attacks and knocked her out with a pistol whip to the chin, sending her face down to the ground, unconscious. Moments later, Shiota leapt into the entryway as Fascist Rinka kept firing. But she knew that her lover's killer was in the building now so she left the window.
"ALL SOLDIERS! ENEMY COMBATANTS ARE IN THE BUILDING! PROTECT OUR COMMANDER!" She shouted into the radio, not knowing Nagisa and Shiota heard her.
"She's pissed." Shiota said as he put down his Blaser R93 Tactical Bolt-Action Sniper rifle and pulled out a Kel-Tec KSG bullpup shotgun while handing Nagisa a Mossberg 500 shotgun. "Close Quarters Combat. Are you good at it?"
"We're Nagisas. CQC is where we excel." Nagisa said as he loaded the gun.
"True." Shiota said as he took Fascist Toka's radio. "Shame about their class."
Shiota led Nagisa up the stairs when they ran into Fascist Hiroto and Yuma. The two Fascists versions of the class Male Rep and Class Playboy looked at the Nagisas, who looked back at them.
"... Really? We immediately ran into the only guys who are better than Karma?" Nagisa sighed. Fascist Hiroto and Yuma kicked their shotguns out of their hands and took each Nagisa on separately.
"You know Yuma. It pains me to see you fighting to OPPRESS ANOTHER WORLD!" Shiota said as he fought Fascist Yuma. The counterpart to the former Class President said nothing as he caught a kick and kicked Shiota's other leg out from under him and slammed him down. Fascist Hiroto and Nagisa were moving very fast, but Nagisa was clearly on the defensive, forcing the tealhead back.
Shiota suddenly noticed something on Fascist Yuma's neck. what seemed to be a control device. jumping behind him and pulling it off, Fascist Yuma screamed and fell to the ground. Shiota looked at the control device.
"Why would Fascist me control his subordinates?" he asked before seeing another device on Fascist Hiroto and pulled it off as well. Fascist Hiroto also screamed and fell to the ground as well.
"Wow. Convenient." Nagisa painted, his skin marked with several scratches and cuts. Shiota pulled out a spray bottle and sprayed its contents onto the scratches and cuts, healing him. Nagisa was speechless.
"What? We've seen too many people get hurt when dealing with Close Quarter Combat experts. So we made a spray that has some Anti-Matter added in to help speed up the healing." Shiota told Nagisa as they grabbed their shotguns before Nagisa stopped and ran down to Fascist Toka and saw that she was also wearing a control device and pulled it off her as well. Shiota realized what he was doing so he covered him when Fascist Rinka dropped down and attacked them. The Nagisas defended themselves as Shiota was able to get behind her and pull off the control device on her neck. Rinka then fell to the floor. Nagisa sighed and they ran up the stairs to get the Fascist version of them.
Meanwhile, John was leading the men better than he thought, he pushed a soldier out of the line of gunfire and Bertrand came to cover him. The Soldier was grateful for John and John nodded his head. Bertrand smiled as he jumped up and slammed down on a Tiger II Tank's Barrel, making the turret blow off the tank, and killing the crew on the inside. He then picked the destroyed Tank and threw it into another one, sending both tanks sliding across the street into a lamp post and a building corner.
"LET'S GO! KEEP PUSHING UP!" Bertrand shouted to the men under his and John's Command. The fascist soldiers were forced to retreat as they got mowed down by the Alliance forces. John was in awe as he helped Bertrand more with freeing the city from the Fascist forces.
I hope you guys enjoyed the twenty-fourth chapter of the story. If you have ideas for the next chapter leave a comment saying it. First time writing like this so I had some help from a friend of mine, later.
