Summary: At seventeen years of age, Atreus and his father found themselves in another realm, one that was unfortunately filled with the less crazy, but irritating versions of the gods they had slain. Can they live their life in peace? Or the supernatural world of DxD will be forced to know the full might of THE God of War? Atreus will try to make sure that won't happen… anytime soon at least.
The story will focus on Atreus, with Kratos being a side-character most of the time.
Friendly reminder for those who might have forgotten: For the time being, Kratos and Mimir are known only as Kevin and Mike by other people.
Pairings: Atreus x Harem (Confirmed: Rias, Akeno, Aphrodite, Rossweisse, Ravel, Gabriel and Kuroka)
Kratos x Yasaka (final)
Son of War
Chapter 27
Despite the tense atmosphere among the forces outside Kuoh, the peace conference of the Three Factions went on much better than Atreus had expected it to be.
For about half an hour, the leaders discussed the state of cold war that they were in and small conflicts that they had been having since the end of the Great War in a serious, but friendly manner. Neither side seemed to hold ill intention toward the other two factions, and the more they talked about, the more relaxed everyone became and the closer they seemed to get to the permanent ceasefire, or even peace.
"That is true." Michael, the current leader of heaven after the death of God, nodded his head in understanding. "If we continue it like what we are doing now, certainly we will head down the road of destruction."
It was the painful truth that even Azazel, someone who looked so carefree, had to admit, because it was a fact that the fallen angels had suffered the most loss in the war among the three, and worse, the one who were without direct means for bolstering their numbers. If another war broke out it was not that difficult to tell which side would be first to perish.
"Now then, Rias and Sona, can you two tell us about the incident that occurred here a week before?"
""Yes, Lucifer-sama.""
The mentioned two answered at the same time before both of them stood up to start informing the leaders about the recent attack on their school and hometown by Kokabiel and his followers, while everyone from the Three Great Faction listened. Rias summarized the events of the incident as calmly as she could. She had become nervous when her brother called her name, and her nerves were so shot that when she talked her hands balled into fists.
From what Atreus could see, each representative of their respective faction had their own reactions to the story. One shook their head in displeasure, one scowled and another smiled at the end.
"Thank you for the report, Rias, Sona. You two can sit down now." Sirzechs spoke to the two heiresses with a small smile once they had finished their reports, allowing Rias to let out a breath that she did not know she was holding before sitting back down her chair with Sona doing the same right after her.
"This world owes you and your father a great debt, Atreus-kun." Michael then looked at Atreus and said, as he and Gabriel both lowered their heads to him once again.
"Yes. if you and your father had not stopped Kokabiel, we would certainly have been at war by now. So many precious lives would have been lost." Gabriel continued after her brother; her voice was soft like a melody that one could get lost into.
"We only did what we must. Nothing more." Atreus spoke to the two archangels. At the same time, he had to hold back the urge to chuckle upon realizing how similar he sounded to his father. If the man had been with them, he would definitely have responded to Michael and Gabriel with the same line.
"I also think that I owe the House of Hades an official apology." Azazel spoke as he sat straight up in his seat, looking over to Nyx and Zagreus, who looked bored. "As I mentioned earlier, Kokabiel was from my side and he was the one who kidnapped Cerberus to use him as a catalyst for the war."
"What's done is done. I am sure that you would have done everything in your power to stop Kokabiel himself if you had known, Azazel. All that matter to us was that Cerberus had safely returned to his home"
Nyx spoke back to Azazel in a calm tone, making the man nod his head to the primordial goddess in appreciation.
"Truthfully, we are only interested in how he was able to capture the Cerberus, Azazel. Certainly you do not think that someone like him could have kidnapped Cerberus alone, do you? Only one man in our history has successfully done so."
"Hercules?" Atreus blurted out, and Nyx looked at him before nodding her head with a smile.
"It was his twelfth and final labor, one that was thought to be impossible." Nyx said, making Azazel sigh before nodding his head in agreement.
"I must admit… the possibilities of that situation have been plaguing my mind. Kokabiel definitely had help in the kidnaping of the Cerberus, and it could be someone who possessed even more threats to us than one another." Azazel said, causing a heavy atmosphere to fall upon the meeting. "That is the reason why I have been preparing. Some of you here might already know this, but I have been collecting powerful Sacred gear and power humans who possess them…"
"For the past two decades, yes." Michael continued, making Azazel look at him and nod with an amused chuckle.
"At first, I thought you were gathering humans and attempting to augment your battle potential. I even anticipated you to wage war against heaven or us but…." This time it was Sirzechs who spoke to Azazel. "no matter how much time passed, you didn't. When I heard you had gotten hold of the Vanishing Dragon, I had to admit that I was worried."
"It was for the sake of Sacred Gear research." The Governor said with a bitter smile "I do not have any interest in war at this late hour. I am perfectly satisfied with the world right now. Should I send a part of the research materials to you as well as a token of peace? I am sure that some like Ajuka from your side would love to get his hands on some of the discoveries that I have had over the past few years."
"Indeed." Sirzechs said with a soft laugh.
"Well then, how about we finally leave our past behind us and make peace for real?" Azazel said as he leaned back into his seat, making the leaders of the other two factions look at him in surprise.
It was Michael who answered him with a smile on his face: "Ah yes, now that you have mentioned it, I have also been planning to have peace with the devils and our fallen brothers and sisters, and build new alliance with… for example, the Kyoto youkai faction that is led by Yasaka-san here." He said, with a gesture of his hand to the nine tailed fox woman, who nodded her head and smiled at him "Even if we continue the relationship of the three factions like before, then it will become too much for the human world to handle."
"The stubborn Michael can even speak something like that now, even though you were all about God, God and God before." Azazel said with a laugh.
"Everyone changed when they lost something or someone important to them, Azazel. Still, there is no helping seeking for things that are not present. We members of the Seraph have the same opinion that the most important thing is to watch over the children of God from now on as well, and to guide them."
"Hey hey, with your speech just now, you will fall you know? But you took over the system, right?" Azazel asked, and Michael nodded his head back to him in confirmation "It has really become a good world. It is completely different from the time when we fell."
"We are the same, Azazel. Even if the Morningstar are not here, in order to continue the species, Devils too have moved forward as well." Sirzechs shared his opinion "All four of us current Maou agreed that war would always be the last option to any of our problems. If there was another war, the Devils will surely become the first to perish."
"Yes. If we do another war, the three factions will definitely be mutually destroyed." Azazel nodded at Sirzechs with a serious expression on his face.
It was after this that the meeting seemed to go on a break, with Atreus believing that the most difficult conversation had finally come to an end. Grayfia entered the room and dutifully started serving tea to all parties as the waitress, leaving the leaders to have small talks among one another.
While Azazel was exchanging some words with Sirzechs, Serafall declaring her rivalry with Gabriel would continue even if their factions had made peace – even though the archangel did not look like she understood what the Leviathan was talking about, and Yasaka had a quick chat with Nyx, Michael directed his gaze towards Asia with an apologetic smile. Issei, who was the first to notice this, raised a hand and asked.
"Michael-san, may I ask you a fairly simple question?"
"Yes, of course. Please go ahead, Issei Hyoudou-kun." Michael nodded his head with a smile.
"Why didn't you do anything when they exiled Asia?" The mentioned girl widened her eyes at his question, looking both shocked and surprised by it.
"Ah yes, I can only apologize for that" The archangel began with a sad smile "After God passed away, only his system remained to govern divine protections, mercy and miracles. The system was, if I can explain it simply, an alternative to perform the miracles and etcetera God had done. He made the system and used it to bring miracles to humans in his stead, to bestow divine properties on objects like crosses or holy water, and activities like exorcism." Michael replied in an earnest manner.
"You see, after God died, an error in the system occurred in the absence of its creator." Gabriel continued as the room fell into silence.
"To be honest, it takes a big toll on anyone who uses it with the exception of God. With me becoming the center, the Seraphim were able to somehow start up the system but… comparing it to the time God existed, the divine protection and mercy to those who believe in God is not complete. It's an unfortunate thing, but those who can be granted salvation are limited."
"For that, there was a need to keep away those people related to the church who could possibly cause an influence on the system. As an example of those who can cause influence on the system, a part of the Sacred Gear such as Asia's Twilight Healing is included."
"Asia is included because she can also heal devils and fallen angels?"
Once again Michael nodded his head.
"Yes. If there is a person who can heal devils and fallen angels present within the followers, it will influence the faith of the ones around her. The source of us living in heaven is the faith of believers. Because of that, Twilight healing is a forbidden Sacred Gear which can cause an influence on the system. And also, as an example of influence on the system-"
"The people who know about the non-existence of God, right?" Xenovia interrupted Michael who continued.
"Yes, that's right, Xenovia. To lose you and Durandal is a serious wound even for us. But if apart from the Seraphim and a part of the higher ranking angels, if a fair amount of people who know about the absence of God approached the place with a direct connection then there would be a huge effect on the system. I apologize. There was no other way, but to brand you and Asia Argento heretics."
Michael and Gabriel both bowed their heads to Asia and Xenovia as the two girls stared at him in wonder.
"No, Michael-sama, Gabriel. Please. You have nothing to apologize for." Asia shook her head and said, looking somewhat nervous that the two archangels were bowing to her. Standing at her side, Xenovia also had a similar expression and appeared to share the same feeling, making the angel side look at the two of them in surprise, with no one more so than Irina herself.
"The fact that you were reincarnated as a Devil… that is our crime."
"I had to admit that I regretted it a bit, but the things that I couldn't do when I was serving the church, the things that were sealed from me are now brilliantly coloring my everyday life." Xenovia spoke with a soft smile "If I say these words, I may anger the other believers but… I am satisfied with my current life. To have those that are in my life right now, it was the greatest gift."
Asia, who shared Xenovia's feelings, said with her hands clasped together. "Michael-sama, Gabriel-sama, I also feel the same. I am happy. Since I now have a lot of important people. And also I have met and talked with Michael-sama, who I admired, it's an honor!"
Michael let out a small smile in relief. It seemed to Atreus that the Archangels still cared a lot about them, even though they had become devils. "Sorry, I am grateful for your forgiving hearts. I leave Durandal to you, Xenovia. Since your master is the blood sister of Sirzechs then I know the sword will not be used for unjust causes. I also would like to address the matter of the Excalibur Project, and apologize to Yuuto Kiba-kun."
The Knight looked shocked as the archangel bowed his head to him, not long before his sister followed suit "You should never have had to experience such evil and tragedy from our priests. I know there is no apology I could give to appease your anger, but I can promise that I will never let anything like that happen again, and I will make sure that the pieces of Excalibur are from now on will be used for the betterment of mankind, as your comrades shall never be forgotten."
Yuuto could only nod his head at that, smiling a little at the memories of his friend, but at the same time happy that they would never be forgotten.
"Now then, I think it's time we hear the opinions of others, like those who seem like they can influence the world. Let us kick things off with the two legendary dragons who are both present in this room." Azazel then turned his attention to Issei Hyoudou, making him flinch "Since I already know that Vali wants to fight those he deems strong, what do you want to do to the world, Issei-kun?"
"I want to become the harem king."
Somehow, Atreus did not feel surprised by the answer in the slightest. If anything, he was more shocked that the boy could say something like that with such a straight face, and without even a moment of consideration in front of Sirzechs and Serafall, the leaders of his faction.
Looking around, Atreus could see that some girls from the Sitri peerage had a look of disgust on their faces as they slightly moved their seats away from Issei. The leaders, meanwhile, simply looked amused and some even looked like they were trying to hold back their laughter.
"I have to admit, that is a rather straightforward answer. But then again, I should not expect anything less from the mighty Sekiryuutei of all people. At least, the boy is honest with his feeling." Azazel said with an amused laugh. "Now, Vali, would you like to have a word with your rival as well?"
"Not interested." The silver haired young man calmly replied, making Issei growl and scoff at him.
"Well then, how about we move on to our first special guest of the meeting, Atreus-kun." Azazel said and then looked at Atreus, making every eye in the room fall on him, something that Atreus had no idea would make him feel so uncomfortable. This must be what his father had told him about. "When I first met you and your father, I knew that the two of you were real deals. Not many people could scare me and Baraquiel off like that."
Next to Rias, Akeno stiffened at the mention of her father, something that Atreus did not need any of his godly power to notice. However, the entire room continued to remain silent and allowed the fallen angel leader to continue, speaking to Atreus with a humorous smile.
"Nonetheless, when peace is achieved and alliance is built among us, we will certainly want to seek out more allies." Azazel explained "You and your father have already had strong tie with the devils, so it is safe to say that you two will be a valuable ally to us all in the future. Personally, I think you two are among the individuals who can leave marks on this world, with how powerful you have proven yourself..."
Before Azazel could finish, a tremendous pressure suddenly fell upon them, causing Atreus to snap his head around with a look of alarm on his face. Rias, who had never felt anything like it before in her life, was knocked off her seats and sent stumbling onto the floor with her peerage along with several others in the room when the entire school building was shaken by a violent explosion, which left her ears ringing and her head spinning for a whole minute.
Once the ringing had stopped and her head began to clear, Rias looked around to check on her servants, feeling a sense of relief washing over her when she saw that they were all alright and had started to get up themselves, albeit looking slightly shaken. Turning her head up, the crimson haired heiress could see a dark barrier that greatly resembled a starry night sky slowly dispersing around them, causing her to glance over to Nyx and see that the primordial goddess of the night was standing with her arms outstretched forward with a serious look on her face.
"Rias, are you alright?" Atreus asked as he offered her his hand, gently helping her onto her feet when she took it.
"I… I'm fine. Thank you, Atreus." Rias spoke gratefully to her boyfriend, who nodded his head to her, before noticing her brother and the other leaders standing near the utterly destroyed wall and looking at something on the schoolyard outside, each having a dead serious look on their face.
Moving over to stand beside her brother, the crimson heiress could see that the entire school building was being protected by a massive barrier, which was shielding them from spells and magic that were being fired at them from every direction by humanoid beings dressed in magician robes. At the same time, the united army of the three factions appeared to be engaging in an all-out battle against another force of enemies on the sky and the streets just outside of the academy.
However, none of the enemies stood out to her more than the one single man standing on the running track outside. Her first impression of him was that he was a heavily armored man who was set on fire, but instead of screaming in pain and agony as his flesh was burnt in a strange golden flame, he merely had a smirk on his face as he looked up at them while wielding a large golden sword in his hand.
"O-onii sama, who… is that?" Rias asked her brother, feeling a sense of dread and terror engulfing her unlike anything that she had ever felt before washing over her as she looked at the man on fire.
"That… is Hyperion." It was Azazel who answered the question as nervous sweats poured down the side of his face, causing Rias and her peerage to gasp in complete shock. Standing beside them, Sona and her group did not look any better, as they all looked outside with their eyes widening in horror upon realizing that they were looking at a Titan.
"ATREUS! ZAGREUS!" The Titan bellowed, his thundering voice causing the windows to rattle "COME OUT HERE, BOYS! COME OUT BEFORE I BURNT THIS WHOLE PLACE DOWN AND YOUR FRIENDS ALONG WITH IT."
Atreus and Zagreus could only look at each other, before they both turned their attention back to Hyperion, hardening their gaze as they looked at Hyperion, the flaming Titan of heavenly light and heat.
"Here, wolf boy."
Zagreus called out as he walked over to Atreus, who had just finished putting on his Asgardian steel gears that he had given to Akeno for safekeeping in case of emergency and turned to the son of Hades, shooting his hand out just in time to catch the bow that the Zagreus tossed at him.
"Why are you giving me your bow?" After giving the weapon a look, Atreus decided to ask. He recognized the bow, being one of the Infernal arms that Zagreus had used to fight him a few weeks back. The bow was incredibly light and well balanced despite its size and design, and it seemed to be radiating a divine aura that Atreus had felt only from the godly possessions wielded by their respective owners.
"I am letting you borrow my bow." Zagreus corrected with a smirk before making a gesture of his hand to the Talon bow that Atreus was holding in his other hand. "Cause I am not going up against a Titan and his army with you wielding that beat up looking stick."
"This beat up looking stick is a gift from my late mother." Atreus stated blankly, making Zagreus look at him for a moment before shrugging.
"Meh, a gift is not gonna win us this fight. The bow will not hit as hard as it does when I use it, but it will still be better than a normal one. Just draw the bowstring back and Coronacht will do the trick." Nodding, Atreus did as he was instructed, taking aim and pulling back the string of the Heart Seeking Bow to make an energy arrow appear. "Nice."
Lowering the Coronacht down, Atreus then looked over his shoulders and saw Rias and Akeno looking worriedly at him. He knew that they did not want him to go… but both girls knew that he and Zagreus were the only thing standing between them and Hyperion. Even if he were to allow them to fight at his side, they both knew they would only get in his ways.
"Atreus." Nyx suddenly spoke up, stopping both young men before they could jump off the building. "Focus your attention only on fighting Hyperion. Your friends will be safe with me. You have my words that I will protect them with my life."
"I… thank you, Nyx." Atreus said, nodding his head to the primordial goddess of the night to show her his gratitude.
"Your father is our best hope right now." The primordial goddess then continued, causing everyone else in the room to look at her in shock and astonishment. "Hyperion is a battle maniac. He will not turn down a fight against you two if he's here looking for it. Try to buy as much time as you two can until your father arrives."
"I understand." Atreus nodded, understanding that something must be preventing his father from realizing what was going on and showing up, but he would let Azazel and the others worried about that, as they had promised him to.
"Zagreus, Hyperion is a Titan, an ancient enemy of your father and the gods of Olympus." Nyx then continued, looking over to Zagreus and speaking to him "Even if we surrender to him right now, he will still kill you simply because you are the son of your father. There is no other choice in this matter. You have to face him here."
"Heh, you don't have to tell me, Nyx. I have already made up my mind. I will not run from this fight." Zagreus grinned, his voice showing nothing but determination as he brought out his Stygian blade and put it on his shoulder. "So, shall we, wolf boy?"
"After you." Atreus said.
"Good luck, you two."
"Good luck, Atreus." Sirzechs spoke up after Azazel, speaking up for everyone in the meeting room with one hand resting comforting on the shoulder of his sister "You too, son of Hades."
With that, Atreus steeled his nerves and followed Zagreus, who gave Sirzechs a nod of acknowledgement before jumping off the school building to land on the schoolyard, facing Hyperion as the Titan turned his gaze to them.
"You are a god as well, aren't you? Greece?" Zagreus suddenly asked as the two slowly and carefully approached Hyperion, making Atreus widen his eyes slightly before looking at the bow in his hand. "You are not wrong there. Even with permission, only a god can wield a godly possession. Coronacht is one, and you don't seem to have any problem with it."
"Worry not. Your secret is safe with me. I can tell that none of your friends know you are one. Let us focus on the enemy before us, and follow my lead. I have a plan." The son of Hades said, making Atreus nod his head to him, knowing that this was no time for them to argue before they stopped a few feet in front of Hyperion and looked cautiously at the Titan.
"You two boys sure took your time coming out here to face me. My patience was wearing thin." Hyperion bellowed as his flame became more intense, sending out a tremendous wave of heat that caused the ground itself to catch fire but both Atreus and Zagreus stood their ground and kept a fearless gaze on the Titan.
"Well, sorry for keeping you waiting, old man. We were just deciding if we should take you head on like this, or put you out with a bucket of water first." Zagreus taunted as he swung his blade down and took a stance with it. "If you are here looking for a fight, Hyperion. You will get one from us."
The look that Hyperion had on his face darkened at the sight of the sword, and Atreus knew why. Even though it was only a fragment and reconstructed version of the original weapon, the Blade of the Underworld was still the very weapon that had been used to seal the Titans in the deepest recesses of Tartarus at the end of the first Titanomachy, being the equivalent of the Blade of Olympus itself in his world.
The heart seeking bow he was wielding was also a weapon that was used against the Titans in the past, being wielded by Hera herself, who drove her enemies back to mount Krios so the gods could launch a final assault on their predecessor under a storm of arrow and thunder. Atreus could only hope that he would be able to do the same against Hyperion.
"So, are we doing this or not?" Atreus asked as he drew back the bowstring of Coronacht, nocking a magical arrow that glowed with divine energy. Hyperion smirked mockingly as he turned his gaze between the two gods, his eyes burning intensely with the same golden flame that was covering his entire body and every part of his armor.
"Insolent brats. I came here today thinking I could piss your daddies off by sending them your charred corpses." Hyperion growled while pointing his sword at them, causing Atreus to furrow his eyebrow in wonder at the Titan. Did he know about them? "But now, I think I will leave them nothing to mourn once I am done with you two."
Those who were watching held their breaths, knowing that if they even so much as blinked, they would miss it.
And they did, as Zagreus shot forward, his blade clashing with the golden sword of the flaming Titan, generating a shockwave that blew up the ground across the entire schoolyard. Gritting his teeth as he tried to push against Hyperion, Zagreus brought his sword back and went for another strike, but an invisible force of heat slammed into him and sent him sailing backwards, forcing the son of Hades to stab his sword down to stop himself.
Two arrows then flew over his head, aiming directly at Hyperion, but the Titan merely sidestepped the first one before knocking away the other with the flat side of his blade. At the same time, he brought his other hand back, and generated a fireball that he then threw at Atreus, who jumped to the side to dodge as it hit the ground where he stood and exploded, dashing across the running track to fire a barrage of arrows at Hyperion, who unleashed another wave of heat to destroy the arrows before it could reach him.
Snarling, Hyperon tried to attack Atreus, who kept his distance and fired an arrow that exploded into a huge flock of runic crows that swarmed the Titan, forcing him to stop advancing. Before he could unleash his fire to blow away the runic summons, Zagreus busted through the crows and descended upon him with a fist of Malphon, though his punch missed as the Titan sidestepped and grabbed him in midair, slamming him into the ground.
"Now, wolf boy!"
Zagreus shouted, and before Hyperion could react, Atreus appeared right next to him and punched the Titan directly in the face with all of his might, his hand wearing the other half of the twin fists of Malphon. Hyperion recoiled at the attack as his body was sent flying two hundred yards backward while a ring of fire exploded around the spot where he stood and set the schoolyard on fire.
Hyperion emerged from the rubbles and debris of the old school building only a second later, the flame engulfing his body burning stronger than ever as he charged at Zagreus and Atreus, whose Malphon gauntlet transformed back to the Coronacht bow with Zagreus willing it to.
The Titan was fast and powerful. The ground around his feet kept erupting in flames and exploding as he advanced toward Atreus and Zagreus, attacking them with a devastating slash of his golden sword. Atreus was able to dodge the attacks that came at him and Zagreus transformed his Stygian sword into the Aegis shield to block those that he could not, but it soon became obvious to those who were keeping a close eye on the fight that the two young men were slowly but surely being overwhelmed by the Titan, whose attacks were so powerful it could be felt across the entire academy.
"Laguz!" Atreus exclaimed, casting a spell that unleashed a tremendous amount of water upon Hyperion from every direction. Although the water vaporized instantly before it could even come in contact with him, it still generated a massive cloud of water vapor that gave them the small opening that they needed to recover and charge at Hyperion at full force once again.
Transforming his shield into Varatha, the Eternal Spear, Zagreus fought Hyperion with thrusting attacks while Atreus assisted him from the side, using the reach of his weapon to keep his distance from the Titan, who showed his unparalleled battle prowess by blocking and parrying every attack that came at him. The air around them was charged with ozone as the blades of their weapons met, clashing so violently that Atreus was only able to squeeze his arrows in once every few strikes from both combatants.
Although one of his arrows, imbued with the light of Alfheim, eventually found its target and imbedded into his chest when Zagreus threw his spear and then recalled it in an instant to catch the Titan off guard, Hyperion simply yanked the energy arrow out and shattered it with his hand. Snarling, the Titan stomped the ground hard as ichor dripped down his chest, causing columns of flame to erupt behind Atreus and Zagreus, who had no choice but to leap out of the way to avoid being burnt to ashes.
As he rolled to his feet, Zagreus was immediately forced to raise his shield in front of his body to block a powerful swing from Hyperion with his own blade, with the force behind the attack being strong enough to knock him onto his back and stun him for a moment. Atreus fired several arrows at Hyperion, but they were all blown away by the tremendous pressure generated from the flame engulfing his entire body before the Titan shot his hand out, shooting his flame out in the form of a massive arm that tried to grab Atreus, who dove to the side to dodge it but was then blasted into the air by an enormous column of fire.
Transforming his shield back to his Stygian sword, Zagreus tried to stab Hyperion in the ankle, but the Titan easily parried the attack with his own weapon before kicking the son of Hades in the guts, sending him flying and crashing down next to Atreus.
Just as the two managed to recover, Hyperion unleashed a breath of fire at the two in a manner similar to a dragon, forcing Zagreus to instantly transform Varatha back to Aegis and use it to shield both him and Atreus from the wave of flame, crouching low to nestle their bodies behind the shield.
"Zag, we need a better plan!" Atreus shouted.
"Trust me, I am fully open to suggestions right now!" The son of Hades yelled back as he stood his ground, putting every bit of strength that he had into his arms to keep himself from getting pushed back by the flame.
"Oh so you decide to let me take the lead now?"
"This is your school, wolf boy!" Zagreus said before bringing his fist back to punch Aegis with all of his might, sending out a shockwave toward Hyperion, dispersing his fire breath along the way and forcing the flaming Titan to jump to the side to dodge it. As an entire section of the old school building was blown away by the shockwave, Zagreus then threw Aegis at Hyperion, who knocked it away with his sword.
Just when Hyperion began wondering where the other one was, Atreus, who had been in his hawk form, transformed back directly above him and caught Aegis in midair to twirl around, gaining momentum and throw the shield at his head, sending him reeling as it hit his flaming helmet with a resounding clang.
"þruma! Now, Zagreus!" Before he could recover, Atreus fired numerous lightning infused arrows that landed in a formation around Hyperion, swallowing him in a storm of yellow electricity and immobilizing the Titan just long enough for Zagreus to reach him after recalling and catching Aegis with one hand.
Transforming the shield into the twin fists of Malphon once again, the son of Hades threw a barrage of earth shaking punches at Hyperion, each blow leaving fist shaped dents on the surface of his armor and finished with a devastating uppercut, hitting the flaming Titan square in the chin. With a sickening crunch, Hyperion was sent sailing back for the second time, this time with his helmet being knocked off his head before smashing hard into the ground several feet away from Zagreus and Atreus, his flame dwindling for the first time.
"This is unbelievable." Azazel murmured under his breath as he stood there watching the fight with the rest. "Those two are actually winning."
"How… how are they actually doing this?" Sona Sitri asked in disbelief, looking over to her sister to find a reasonable answer from her, but the Leviathan was having a similar look of shock on her face.
The battle itself was unlike anything Sona had ever seen before in her life, but what shocked her the most was Atreus and Zagreus. Not only were they standing their ground against the overwhelming heat radiating from the flaming body of Hyperion at close proximity while everything around them melted away, but they also did not look seriously hurt every time the Titan was able to land a direct blow on them. Moreover, the two were also actually fighting back, hitting the Titan and actually injuring him instead of just trying to buy time like she had thought they would have to do.
"Not bad, you fucking brats."
Instinctively, Zagreus raised his gauntlets and blocked the flaming blade of the Titan, who was now glowing blindingly and growing in size, becoming three times as large despite already towering over both Atreus and Atreus. With his new size and strength, the force behind his strike was so devastating that even though Zagreus was able to hold the blade back, the ground under his feet still shattered and he was forced onto one knee.
Atreus tried to aid him, but Hyperion elbowed him in the face before blasting him across the whole academy in a giant fireball, sending him sailing back several feet with his hands trying to push against the fireball to keep it from burning into his torso back. With a roar, Atreus entered his rage and hurled the fireball away with all of his might, leaving it to fly across the entire district before colliding with the building of the college division and exploding like a mini nuclear explosion much to the shock but also relief of his friends, who instantly got worried when they saw how badly damaged both of his arms were as Atreus struggled to stand on one knee while calming down.
Even the Khaos Brigade magicians fighting the army of the Three Factions in the air across the entire academy had stopped fighting, as the amount of forces and destruction generated by the clash of Titan and Gods had become too much for them to have their own battles.
Snarling like an angered animal, Hyperion shot down and headbutted Zagreus, knocking the son of Hades down with a shockwave before trying to chop him into two with his blade. Although Zagreus was able to transform his weapons back to Aegis once again to shield himself from the attack, it still generated a force devastating enough to make him feel as if all of his bones were shattered in an instant. As Hyperion brought his sword back and prepared another strike, Atreus, whose arms had begun to heal, was able to stop Hyperion from doing so by firing three consecutive arrows at his chest, sending him stumbling back with each arrow being imbued with a magical sonic element.
Scoffing, Hyperion then charged at Atreus, moving at an even greater speed than before despite his size and used his sword to destroy every single arrow the son of Kratos fired at him. The moment that the flaming Titan reached him, Atreus jumped back instantly to dodge a sword strike from Hyperion, avoiding the blade as it scorched the ground before ducking to the side to dodge another attack, feeling the intense heat cutting into the skin of his face like a hot blade when he leaned his head back to dodge it.
Just before he could make another attack, Zagreus lunged over Hyperion from behind and punched him hard across his face. Without his helmet, the flaming Titan took the full blow of the punch, and a tooth was knocked out along with a reasonable amount of Ichor, making him growl in pain and get even angrier.
When Hyperion tried to attack again, Atreus had propelled himself into the air using the flat blade of his sword, smashing Coronacht across his face before diving over his shoulder to allow Zagreus to follow up with a left hook, making Hyperion snap his head around with ichor flying out of his mouth for Atreus to fire an arrow at his head, hitting the Titan directly in his right eye.
"YOU DAMNED BRATS!"
Though he was not dead, Hyperion let out a primal roar of pain as he swung his sword wildly at them in pure rage, but Atreus had already turned into his hawk form to fly back and avoid his attacks, allowing Zagreus to step in and stab Stygian into his guts.
Before the two could do more damage, a volley of flame arrows forced them away from Hyperion, with Atreus flying down in front of Zagreus and transforming back to raise a runic barrier around them both. Several arrows exploded into strange, green fire that burnt even the ground around the two of them, but the barrier continued to hold strong and protect both Atreus and Zagreus from it.
"Greek fire!" Zagreus explained as the fire was absorbed by Hyperion, allowing his wounds to heal at a much faster rate, with his destroyed eye also growing back almost instantly as his flame burnt away the energy arrow still embedded in his bleeding socket. "Great! We are back to square one."
"He got to have a weakness somehow." Atreus shouted back as Hyperion struck his barrier with his sword, breaking it and forcing them both to jump back to dodge, finally catching sight of the archers that had fired those Greek fire arrows at them as they matched into the academy from the main gate along with a whole army of monsters and other mythical beings, including centaurs, minotaurs and dracaenas… each and every one of who was dressed in golden armors to signify their liege to the Titan of the East.
"You don't happen to have any power to raise the undead to fight with us, do you?" Atreus asked as he glanced over to Zagreus, who shook his head slowly before the two readied their weapons. Like him, the son of Hades was breathing hard, having exhausted a lot of his strength fighting Hyperion and healing at the same time.
His flame burnt them every time they got too close to him, and now it was burning even hotter than before, to the point that they both had begun to feel the intense heat even from the distance.
"What? Scared of fighting us all by yourself now?" Zagreus asked Hyperion tauntingly after recalling his weapon before Hyperion could try to melt it with his flame.
"Who said they were going to fight just you two? Playtime is over, brats." Hyperion asked and raised his sword, pointing it at those standing in the school building, making Atreus widen his eyes in alarm. The cyclops and minotaurs forming the vanguard roared in unison before charging forward, looking to tear their way through Atreus and Zagreus to get to the others, who also took off and joined the two in the fight with Sirzechs, Michael and Azazel leading the charge.
Before the two sides could finally clash in an all-out battle, a thundering sound caused them to stop.
Another one then followed, causing the entire academy to shake as if it was being hit by an earthquake. Cracks began to appear on the giant barrier separating the entire district from the rest of the town and the outside world, becoming visible to the eyes now that it had become damaged.
In a blinding flash of light, the entire thing collapsed, shattering like glass before disappearing with a third and finally thundering sound that one could finally make out to be the sound of someone brutally punching the barrier to break it down and get through from the outside.
