Tokyo-3 (Night)

The final restraints were released from the Eva, causing it to slouch forward. Then, it started walking. Shinji was slowly gaining control over the robot. Purple and green lightning surged from the Eva's fist as it crashed into the Angel's skull-like face. This attack was followed by beams of purple light that rained from above, cutting into the Angel's black skin. Shinji yelled as magic energy surged from his soul and into the robot he was piloting, forming a conduit for his powers. He willed the Eva to launch another punch, only for the Angel to grab his arm. The boy tried to escape, but the beast was too strong, even for him. The damage being dealt to the Eva's arm translated back to Shinji, causing pure agony for him.

With a snap, his wrist was broken.

Continuing its assault, a needle coming out of the Angel's arm began to glow. With its hand firmly gripping the Eva's head, the needle was pushed into the robot, hammering Shinji's brain repeatedly. Eventually, it managed to fully pierce the skull and sent the Eva into a building. A red liquid that resembled human blood was pouring out of the robot as it lay limply against the skyscraper. Shinji's HP reached zero with that final impact, rendering him unconscious.

"Looks like it's my turn." Dominic said, grinning. He got out a Premier Ball and threw it into the air, releasing a humanoid being with pale pink skin and a purple tail. "This opponent is like nothing we've ever faced before, Mewtwo. We'll have to go all-out right from the start!" The blonde reached into his jacket pocket and retrieved a glove with a rainbow-colored gem sewn into it. "Now, surpass your limits and break the world! Mega Evolve!"

The boy pressed two fingers to the gem, causing bright light to emerge and link with a gemstone that Mewtwo wore on its wrist. Energy surged from the feline-like being as its form was altered. Its body decreased in size, and its tail vanished, having been replaced with a long string of flesh coming from the back of its head. Mega Mewtwo Y floated in the air in front of the Angel, the black beast unaware of how outmatched it was.

"Use Shadow Ball!" Dominic commanded. Mewtwo formed an orb of darkness in its hands, which it then fired off at the Angel's arm. As soon as Shadow Ball made contact, the Angel's arm was blown off. Furious, the beast swung its remaining arm down at its opponent. "Dodge, then use Hyper Beam!" Mewtwo vanished just as the Angel's arm was inches away, then reappeared behind it. Golden energy surged in Mewtwo's body as it launched Hyper Beam, searing off the Angel's other arm.

For just a few moments, Dominic and Mewtwo could clearly see their enemy's weak point. Their minds connected, and both of them knew exactly what to do.

"End everything! Psystrike!" the boy cried out. Mega Mewtwo Y raised its arm, forming a sphere of rainbow-colored energy. With a shout, Mewtwo unleashed its strongest attack. Psystrike hit the gem in the center of the Angel's chest, then detonated with the force of an atomic bomb. The Angel shrieked in pain as its body was torn apart by the psychic energy. In a matter of seconds, it was no more.

Satisfied, Mewtwo returned to Dominic's side and reverted back to its original form. "Only the strongest can hope to defeat us." it said telepathically. It then turned its head to the Eva. "Stand down. We will retaliate if any action is taken against us." Mewtwo's eyes started to glow as its gaze hardened. "We know what you've done, and what you forsake to get it. We will not forgive you for leaving Shinji behind."

"That's enough, Mewtwo." Dominic said, sending his partner back to the Premier Ball. "I may not know why you did what you did, but mark my words. Shinji will not be the puppet you want him to be." After that, the blonde vanished in a flash of light.

Medical Bay (Morning)

"What happened?" Shinji asked as he woke up.

"You lost. Badly." Dominic said, leaning back in his chair. "Don't worry, though. I picked up where you left off."

"Do you know what's going to happen next?" the injured boy asked.

"Right now, they're trying to figure out how the Angel died." Dominic said, proud of himself. "Of course, they have no idea that Mewtwo and I are responsible." After that, Shinji's stomach started to growl. "Hehe. I thought you'd be a bit hungry after that fight. Here." The blonde got a blue mushroom from his pocket, which Shinji gobbled down instantly. Green light flickered around his body as his injuries healed and his HP was replenished.

Gendo's Office (Morning)

"We've checked three times already, sir." Ritsuko told her superior. "There's no change in the Eva's internal structure, its core, or anything else. Whatever happened yesterday, Unit-01 wasn't affected by the result."

Two things happened that puzzled NERV. The first were the strange lights that appeared around Unit-01 as it fought the Angel. The second, and more pressing, concern was the humanoid being with power that surpassed the N2 Mines. They needed to be sure that they weren't threats.

"What of the Third Child?" Gendo asked.

"He was unconscious after the Eva suffered cranial damage." Ritsuko said. "He has no memory of what happened."

"We can't know for sure unless we question him ourselves." Fuyutsuki said.

Unbeknownst to them all, they were being watched.

Medical Bay (Morning)

"Oh, great. You're still here." Misato said to Dominic as she entered the room.

"Eh, I've got no reason to leave right now." the blonde said. "Besides, if I go, Shinji goes. And I'm sure old Gendo wouldn't want that, now would he?"

Once again, Misato felt the temperature increase as Dominic stared into her very Soul. "I guess." she said, unnerved by the boy in front of her.

"Can I ask you a favor, Miss Katsuragi?" Shinji asked. "We don't have anywhere to stay in this city, and I'd prefer it if my father was kept away from me. So, could Dominic and I stay with you?"

Both Misato and Dominic were left speechless at the request.

Gendo's Office (Morning)

"Who is the boy that the Third Child brought with him?" Gendo asked, curious about the blonde.

"He's a total non-entity." Ritsuko explained, still baffled herself. "There are no records of him ever living in Japan, and he said that he was Shinji's caretaker for the past ten years."

Gendo's eyes widened at that. While Dominic, to them, was too young for that statement to have any merit, the eldest Ikari felt the need to check something. He dialed the phone number for the man that picked the Third Child up all those years ago. But when the call went through...

All he heard was garbage noise.

Tokyo-3 (Evening)

"Right, then! We have to celebrate in style tonight!" Misato said as she drove Shinji and Dominic to her apartment. Truthfully, she was still skeptical of bringing the blonde into her home. But as he so eloquently told her, he would either stay with Shinji or Shinji left with him. Since he was the Third Child, she was left with no choice.

"Now you're speaking my language!" said blonde exclaimed. "I'm thinking we do something involving fire."

"Can't we just have cake?" Shinji asked, tired. "Also, what exactly are we celebrating?"

"The arrival of two new roommates, of course!" Misato said cheerfully. "Oh, mind if I take a small detour before we head home?"

Tokyo-3 (Evening)

"Why are we here?" Dominic asked. Misato stopped the car on an elevated platform that allowed them to see the entire city.

"It's time." Misato said, looking at her watch. Just as the Sun fell below the horizon, metal doors in the ground opened up, letting a plethora of buildings to erupt from the Earth. "This is the fortress city built to counter and defeat the Angels. This is Tokyo-3. This is our city. And, it's the city you protected, Shinji."

'But, I wasn't able to do anything.' the boy thought to himself, looking down at his hands. Dominic saw this and was able to figure out what his charge was thinking.

Misato's Apartment (Night)

"Looks like this is gonna be home base for the time being." Dominic said, looking around the apartment.

"I know it's a little cluttered, but don't let it bother you." Misato said.

"This is not 'a little cluttered'. This is a pigsty." Shinji quietly said, trying to maneuver around the beer bottles.

"Sorry, but could you put the groceries in the fridge?" the woman requested.

"I got it." Dominic said, getting the grocery bags. When he opened the fridge, he immediately got a sense of how his new roommate lived. "This has to be a year's worth of alcohol." he said, astonished. Sensing something, he turned around to find another fridge. "Why do you have two fridges?" Dominic asked, knowing that a living thing was inside.

"Just leave it alone. I don't want to bother him while he's sleeping." Misato said from another room. "Now, let's eat!"

In a matter of minutes, the table was set and the occupants of the apartment all sat down for dinner. The only problem was that it didn't qualify as food.

"You expect me to put this into my body?" Dominic asked as Misato chugged a beer. 'Okay, someone needs to talk to her about her drinking.'

"I know it's a TV dinner, but it's still pretty good." the woman said.

"Oh, now you've done it." Shinji said, having gone through this before.

"I'm cooking." Dominic said, getting up from the table. "The day I eat a TV dinner is the day I willingly take a swim!" The blonde reached the kitchen, which looked as though it had never been touched once.

"What are you going to cook with?" Misato asked, a bit insulted that Dominic refused the dinner she gave him.

"I have some spare ingredients I can use." the boy answered, getting a Shroom Steak and a Gorgeous Steak from his Inventory. "Now, how did Dyllis do this?" he asked himself as he prepped the stove. After a few seconds, the dish was finished. He brought the final product back to the table, where he then cut it into three pieces. "Say hello to the Dyllis Deluxe. Recipe courtesy of the crabbiest woman I ever met."

Misato looked down at the dish her new houseguest made. 'How the hell did he make something like this so quickly?' she wondered. She could feel the blonde's burning gaze, and in pure fear, took a bite. It was the single greatest thing she ever tasted. It felt like her entire body was rejuvenated. "What is this?" she asked, tears of joy in her eyes.

"I already told you. It's called the Dyllis Deluxe, named after the woman who created it." Dominic explained as he and Shinji ate their share of the meal. "It was expensive as hell to get the ingredients, so I can't make it every day. But I am willing to cook other meals for you."

"Dominic's been cooking since he was younger than me. He knows his way around a recipe." Shinji said.

"That I do. Now, where am I going to sleep?" the blonde asked, putting his empty plate in the sink.

Dominic's Room (Night)

Misato was confused. She knew for a fact that her apartment only had two bedrooms. So why was a third one just randomly in the hallway?

Suddenly, the door opened, and Dominic, clad in red pajamas, came out. "Why did you think it prudent to wake me?" he asked, groggy.

"Why is there a door here?" Misato asked. Looking through the opening, she couldn't see anything but pure darkness.

"I never leave home without my bedroom." the boy said, yawning. "Now if you excuse me, I have important business to attend to." With that, Dominic closed the door and went back into his room.

"Ugh, I must be dreaming." Misato said, going to bed. After all, it wasn't like an entire room could be brought into an apartment, right?

Bathroom (Night)

Pen Pen didn't know what it was looking at. He entered the bathroom in hopes of enjoying a midnight steam session, but was surprised to find something else there before him.

It looked like a penguin, but its head was completely covered in a cube of ice. The temperature of the room was below freezing, the literal polar opposite of what Pen Pen preferred.

"What the hell are you doing here!?" Pen Pen asked, outraged. Of course, since he couldn't speak any human language, it would sound like he was just making noise to any people who passed by.

"My trainer's made his home here." the ice penguin replied. "I'm sorry if I disturbed something here."

"What are you talking about!?" Pen Pen asked, still confused about a lot of what was happening.

"It's okay, I'll just leave." the ice penguin said before bowing and exiting the bathroom, taking all the cold air with it.

"What the hell was all of that!?" Pen Pen wondered aloud as he got the sauna ready.

AN: The Pen Pen/Eiscue interaction was the entire reason I started this fic.
