"Our exploration took us to the nearly uninhabited Never Lake Island, in order to find the mysterious Miracle Planet. Miracle Planet is called that due to its strange nature and equally mysterious properties. However, as me and Tekno arrived, the Miracle Planet had been transformed into this… metal thing. A smiling face glowed by the lights from whatever structure was built up there. I couldn't standby and let it's natural beauty be destroyed! So together with Tekno, we raced off to save the Miracle Planet!" - Amy Rose, Future Explorer
On the Miracle Planet, at the Metallic Madness base, Omelette was sitting in her throne, laughing as mining operations and subjugation of the Miracle Planet was going ever so smoothly on her various monitors.
Omelette: "Oh how pleasantly great! Papa's gonna be ever so proud of me once he sees how much destruction I've caused to this otherwise useless planetoid. In fact, once this planet has been completely converted, I could use this as a home away from home. Tch… Stupid AI… What does Papa even see in Sage anyway…?"
As Omelette drinks a cup of hot oil, an alarm goes off. An intruder at the Palmtree Panic Zone. Omelette lets out a spit take as she starts panicking hard over who the intruder could be.
Omelette: "Oh no oh no! That stupid hedgehog couldn't have found out what I'm up to, could he!?"
She starts mashing buttons on her keyboard before security drone footage shows Amy and Tekno hopping off the chain connected to the planetoid. Once she sees the intruders, Omelette sighs in relief and calms down.
Omelette: "Whew… Be still my beating mechanical heart… Stupid twerps giving me a panic attack because I thought it was that miserable hedgehog… Ugh! Needlenose Unit! Puncture those pointy points onto those potentially nosy posers!"
A swarm of small sharp nosed bug-like robots obeyed as they moved to Amy and Tekno's location. She leans back in her chair before grabbing a bag of popcorn to watch the show with.
At the chain that held the Miracle Planet suspended in place, Amy and Tekno land in a mountainous region with gray pipes and mechanized ground. Amy even steps in some oil which she reels back in disgust over.
Amy: "The whole planet… How did this happen? Who could be so awful as to turn a beautiful place into a wasteland like this?"
Tekno: "Hmm… This tech wasn't built in a day. There's no way it was. But then… How was it built? It couldn't have been here the whole time… Could it?"
Amy: "No way! The book describes the Miracle Planet as a beautiful planet filled with greenery and amazing scenery! But then…"
Tekno: "That's just it, Amy… This place should still be green and lush if Miracle Planet has only been here for a day… How did it get so-"
The duo hear buzzing from above; when they look up, they see a large swarm of robotic bugs, all with sharp and pointy noses. As they stare, the bugs turn and start dashing at the girls with their noses ready to piece through them.
Amy: "Run!"
The duo immediately run away, quickly jumping over a rock wall as the bugs stab into it like darts to a dartboard. Amy quickly grabs the rock wall and flings it away, smashing the robots upon impact.
Amy: "Robots too!?"
Tekno: "Something is very wrong… Amy, we need to leave and regroup."
Amy: "No way, Tekno! We've come too far to just run away! We need to save the Miracle Planet somehow!"
Tekno looks at Amy before rolling her eyes, sighing reluctantly.
Tekno: "I wonder if Wave has to deal with this same stuffing with her partner in crime… Fine. If I can hack into a terminal, I can maybe figure out what happened and find out if we can reverse it."
Amy: "Nice! I knew you'd help, Tekno!"
Tekno: "Only because you twisted my wing…"
As the duo run off, they see another robot above. It wasn't like the robots from early - rather it had a more Mobian appearance, similar to some kind of wasp. Still, Amy glared at the robot as it didn't seem to see them.
Amy: "Another one of them tin cans? I'll knock it right out of the sky."
Tekno: "Careful, Amy. You miss then we could be in serious trouble."
Amy gives Tekno a thumbs up as she starts to aim her hammer at the robot. The robot in question was scanning the area, namely the various technological bits on the Miracle Planet.
Robot: "Uh oh. This could pose a problem if left unchecked. I need to find out how to purge this-"
The robot's sensors go off, causing it to turn before being narrowly avoiding a thrown hammer.
Robot: "Wah!? Hostile forces found me!?"
The robot turns to where the hammer came from, seeing Amy and Tekno below.
Amy: "Uh oh… I did miss…"
Tekno: "Great work, genius…"
The robot quickly flew down and landed on the ground, folding its wings upon landing. Upon closer inspection, the robot looked much closer to a Mobian wasp than initially suspected. Quite feminine as well, complete with a gentle - though clearly angry - voice.
Wasp Bot: "What was that for!? I wasn't bothering you!"
Amy: "Hey, don't look at me! Your buddies attacked us first!"
Wasp Bot: "Buddies!? I came here alone! I don't have any 'buddies'!"
Amy: "Good because I… Wait what?"
Tekno: "Wait… Are you not in league with those robots Amy just smashed with a rock?"
Wasp Bot: "Would you be standing here if I was? I'm a robot created by Jennifer Robotnik. Vespa of the Buzzer Unit."
Amy: "Jennifer?"
Tekno: "Robotnik…? Wait… You mean the woman who killed a little girl and was exiled due to malpractice in the medical department."
Vespa looked visibly upset about the part where Jenni 'killed a little girl'. She knew that part was hogwash.
Vespa: "Lady Jenni did no such thing. She tried saving that girl. Her brother, Ivo, on the other hand, very much killed her…"
Tekno: "Hm…? Strange…"
Amy: "Look, let's ask questions about that later. Anyway, point is that you are not with those robots, right?"
Vespa: "That is correct. I was instructed by Lady Jenni to come to Never Lake Island for resource gathering. The resource in question was a mineral called 'Time Stones'."
Amy: "Time Stones…?"
Amy pulled out her Book of Myths before flipping through the pages. She stops on a page describing a Time Stone.
Amy: "Here it is: "Today I found a mysterious crystal in the Never Lake. A gemstone that has quite a gleam to it, similar to those colored emeralds I often hear rumors about. By itself, it doesn't seem to hold anything special. And yet… I feel they may hold special properties." Special properties?"
Tekno: "Hmm… Judging by the name, the Time Stones control… time?"
Vespa: "To a degree. A theory my lady proposed is that the Time Stones are the reason the planetoid vanishes every century, then returns around this date specifically."
Tekno: "Wait. Explain your creator's theory. I'm interested."
Vespa: "Well, she described it as such: The planetoid acts as a ship without a wheel. Without a wheel, a ship is only going to move based on two factors - the sails and the wind. The sails in the case are the Time Stones, while the wind is time itself. When the ship departs, it is at the mercy of the current and wind. Every three day period, the Miracle Planet moves from timeline to timeline, cycling around before reappearing here to this timeline, where it stays for three days."
Tekno: "Thus creating a timeline loop! A timeline loop is a where multiple timelines are created by a single consistent. Like a ring of keys. This has been a theory from scientist to scientist, but the very fact it's true is so amazing."
Vespa: "I know! I cannot wait to tell Lady Jenni about this!"
Amy: "GUYS!"
Tekno and Vespa jump at Amy yelling before turning to her, tapping her foot while looking visibly frustrated.
Amy: "Are you nerds done yet? We need to fix this planetoid before we can celebrate your little 'discovery'."
The two "nerds" look at each other before they sheepishly nod, fixing their priorities.
Amy: "Okay then. Vespa, was it? Any ideas on how to fix the planet?"
Vespa: "One possible theory. I came across something upon arrival that might relate to the warped visage of the planet. Follow me."
Vespa lets out her wings and flies off the ground, speeding ahead as Amy and Tekno follow her.
Meanwhile, looking at the monitor that featured the conversation and the battle before it, Omelette was mid-about to eat another popcorn as she stared wide eyed at the screen. As she sees the trio leave the screen, her shocked expression quickly turns red and angered as she explodes in a tantrum, slamming her popcorn bag to the ground and stomping on it, repeatedly.
Omelette: "I HATE HEDGEHOGS! THEY ARE GROSS, UGLY, AND STUPID! AND WORST OF ALL, ANNOYING!"
She continues stomping until she tires out, taking some deep breaths before readjusting her glasses.
Omelette: "That's fine. I still have armies worth of robots on this stupid planet. And best of all… I have my trump card. Sage isn't the only one who can use… a powerful robotic printer."
Omelette approaches a glass tube as the silhouette of another Metal series robot laid dormant, this one having a feminine figure and a pair of notable horns. Omelette smiles as she presses a button, awakening the robot.
Omelette: "I am your master and creator. Head to Stardust Speedway and prepare to defend our base."
The robot silently obeys, stomping out of the tube as it leaves to its destination. Omelette smiles as she starts making her own preparations.
Vespa leads Amy and Tekno to a higher part of the Palmtree Panic zone; there they see a sign with "Past" written on it.
Amy: "What's this?"
Tekno: "A sign post? Kind of odd to just write "Past" on it though."
Vespa: "You're close and definitely right to be suspicious of it. According to my sensors, this sign post is not of Ivo technology origin. Meaning this has been on the planet for a very long time. It does not seem harmful, but interaction must be taken with caution."
Amy: "In other words, brace for anything. Okay…"
Amy takes a deep breath before reaching out and touching the sign post. Upon her finger touching it, the trio are suddenly warped away into the sky as the land below shifts. When they drop back down, they find themselves back on the higher portion of the zone they were just on but now it was… much greener. More colorful. However, robots remained rampant and machinery were in the mid stages of taking over the zone and potentially the planet.
Amy: "Wh-What happened!?"
Vespa: "Ah hah! My theory was correct. The sign post is a time distorter. Our location is the same, but the area has now been reverted to a previous state. Kind of like a rewind button."
Tekno: "...Is that also in the book, Amy?"
Amy: "Nope. So I'm not even sure I can say for certain these things were here to begin with or if they were built in some other timeline. Either way, it is convenient. But what good will this do us?"
Vespa: "If we can go back far enough, we can potentially stop the total conversion of Miracle Planet at its infancy, freeing it of Ivo's control!"
Tekno: "No kidding!?"
Amy: "Alright! Are we far enough back then? Can we save this zone!?"
Vespa: "Sadly no. I am getting a vague signal and it is near here, but we need to go back farther to find the actual suspect."
Amy: "No problem. We just need to touch the sign post-"
Amy turns behind her, only to find the sign post missing.
Amy: "Wha!? Where did it go?"
Tekno: "Strange… How did it vanish…?"
Vespa: "Best we don't think too hard about it. It might cause my servos to crash."
The trio spot another sign post in the distance, but now with robots in the way. Amy gets in front and starts smashing them, with Vespa and Tekno following close behind.
Tekno: "So assuming someone is sending these robots out to get us; what's it look like to them exactly?"
Vespa: "The logistics are unknown to me, but if I had to take an educated guess… To our observer, the area just shifted and rewinded. The sign posts likely only affect those robots made on this planet, not ones made on Mobius."
Tekno: "So nothing will happen to us if we end up in different time distortions? Good to know!"
Vespa and Tekno jump in to assist Amy as more of the Needlenose robots start to swarm her. Vespa uses her wings to send out vibrations that confuse and disorientate the tiny bug bots, allowing Tekno and Amy to smash them. Once the bots were destroyed, they used the sign post to go back further to the past, soon ending up in a far more natural looking location. Amy and Tekno take in the sight as they see such a lush and beautiful landscape, full of flowers and trees.
Amy: "Amazing… This is what Miracle Planet should be like…"
Tekno: "Okay. Trip, totally worth."
Vespa: "As much as I would enjoy the view. We should make sure this change is more permanent."
Amy: "Righto, Vespa!"
Tekno: "Is the source nearby?"
Vespa: "Yes. We destroy it. And the future we just left should revert to a more natural state."
Vespa leads the duo to the highest point of Palmtree Panic where they find a machine that was producing Badniks and slowly turning the landscape under it into mechanical bits. Tekno looks down at the pink hedgehog she was holding as they nodded in understanding. Tekno got ready before swinging around and tossing Amy at the machine, Amy pulling out her hammer as she started spinning, not unlike Sonic, and slammed into the machine… and the mountain it was on, completely destroying it with such destructive force. Vespa stares at this with widened eyes before turning to Tekno.
Vespa: "Just… how strong are you?"
Tekno: "Oh that wasn't me. I just threw her. That was all Amy. Let's just say she's… very strong."
Amy waves her hand as she walks out of the crater she made from landing so hard. After regrouping, the trio return to the future and found that their efforts were rewarded. The lush greenery and natural landscapes Amy had read about were back to it's original form.
Tekno: "So mission accomplished?"
Vespa: "Sadly no. This was only one area. Ivo's hold encompasses the entire planetoid. If we are to fully free Miracle Planet, we need to head to his base. Cut the weeds by the roots before they spread, as they say."
Amy: "Then there is more to do. Team Rose! Let's move out, girls!"
Tekno: "Hey, who voted you leader?"
As Tekno looked annoyed, she realizes she is being left behind as Amy and Vespa run ahead of her. She yells at them to wait up as she quickly catches up, heading off to the next zone ahead. Of course, they were unaware of what dangers lie in wait as they draw closer to their enemy's base of operations.
To be continued…
