She wasn't sure if it was accident or instinct, but his arm immediately wrapped around her waist, pulling her body flush with his own. Kagome grabbed his shoulders, not needing much else to steady herself, eyes wide when he pulled back.
Neither spoke, but she saw the interest in his eyes and leaned in again, arms sliding around his neck. Slanting her head, she continued to take her fill, his resounding growl sending shivers down her spine.
When he pulled back again, his eyes were sombre though fixated on her mouth. "I apologize. I am not trying to take advantage—"
"You're not." She gave him a watery smile, though the tears stemmed from joy rather than grief, and one hand teased the back of his neck. "I know I'm supposed to be going home soon, but—"
"Stay." She almost missed it, his head already lowering, and she met him halfway, forever glad that she worked the night shift and that her staff had been craving donuts on that fateful day.
There was nothing more decadent than him.
