Episode 274: Queen of Serpentine
One day after the battle with Guy and the double evolution during battle, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Max, Lisia, Rei, Pikachu, Angel, Eevee, Azurill, and Marill continued on their way towards Petalburg City when Sora's Rotom Phone starts ringing. He saw it was Scott calling him and he answered it.
"Hey, Scott. What's up?" Sora asked.
"A little bird Pokémon told me that you're on your way towards Petalburg City, am I right?" Scott asked.
"Yeah, that's right. Why do you ask?" Sora asked.
"Well, I'm letting you know that I'm over at the Battle Pike in Petalburg City and the Frontier Brain there is the Pike Queen Lucy," Scott said.
"Okay, I'm gonna ask if she's not a performer like Tucker is, right?" Sora asked.
"Relax, kid, the only spectators will be me, your friends and her staff. How close are you to Petalburg City?" Scott asked.
"We're actually almost there," Sora said.
"Wonderful to hear. I'll inform Lucy that you're already on her way, Sora. In the meantime, you just focus on getting here," Scott said.
"Sure, I'll see you there, Scott," Sora said.
"You as well, Sora. That's all I wanted to talk to you about. Bye for now," Scott said, breaking contact.
"So, what was that about, Sora?" Kris asked.
"That Scott guy has just called to tell me about the Battle Pike in Petalburg City," Sora said.
"Then, that means you're going to be up against the Pike Queen Lucy," May said.
"That's what Scott told me," Sora said.
"What do you know of her, May?" Riku asked.
"Well, I heard she uses a Seviper to battle, and a strong one, too. In fact, her Seviper is stronger than yours, Sora. From what I heard, she's one of those beautiful but deadly-types," May said.
"Which one are you going to choose? It's either the Gym or the Battle Pike," Kris said. Sora thought for a moment and he remembered his coin app.
"How about I flip a coin," Sora said, putting up his coin app. "Okay, heads, it'll be the Battle Pike. Tails, it'll be the Gym," Sora said. He pushes his screen to make the coin flip. It lands on heads. "Battle Pike it is."
"Now, that's settled, which Pokémon are you going to use?" Naminé asked.
"I'm glad you asked, Naminé. I'm thinking of using Marshtomp for it since he's a Ground-type Pokémon, courtesy of May," Sora said.
"You're welcome," May said nervously.
Just then, everyone's stomachs started to growl.
"But I think it'll be a good idea to have some lunch first," Kris said.
"That's a good idea," Sora agreed.
Kairi started to make some sandwiches for everyone.
"I hope you're hungry, because there's plenty for everyone," Kairi said.
"Sweet!" Sora said.
"They look very tasty," Lisia said. They were about to have a bite to eat, the beating of drums. "Do any of you hear that?"
"Sounds like drums," Max said.
"But who's playing them?" Riku asked.
Out of the blue, a Pokémon appeared. It is a bipedal Pokémon that appears to be a mixture of a pineapple and a duck. There is a green, sombrero-like growth on its head that is similar to a lily pad. Growing out of the top of its head is a short brown stem with a yellow spiky upper portion. It has black eyes surrounded by a patch of green and an orange bill. Its body is covered with shaggy yellow fur and has several zigzagging brown stripes. It has large, green hands with two black lines on its palms, and thick green legs with a black circle on the underside of its feet.
"What is it?" May asked.
"It's a Ludicolo," Kris said.
"Ludicolo, huh?" Sora asked, taking out his Rotom Phone and scanned it.

Whenever Ludicolo hears festive music playing or the sound of children singing, this Pokémon will begin dancing. It does so to keep its energy up.
"Now that's a Pokémon that likes to boogie," Sora said, putting his Rotom Phone away.
"You said it," Ash agreed.
Out from the same direction comes a man wearing some Mexican-style clothing and a sombrero and a graying brown mustache. He was holding a pair of bongos.
"Ludicolo, did you find some people to entertain?" The man asked in a Spanish accent.
"He sure did, sir," Kairi said.
"Could this Ludicolo be yours, mister?" Max asked.
"Yes, he is, son. The name's Poncho. And we travel from town to town, entertaining folks as we go. With my congo beat and Ludicolo's dancing, we bring out the best in Pokémon variety show," Poncho said.
"Oh, so you're a street performer," Sora guessed.
"That's right, little man," Poncho answered.
"And did you have your Ludicolo since he was a Lotad?" Kairi asked.
"I have, missy. And some time after becoming a Lombre, I used a Water Stone to evolve him into a Ludicolo," Poncho said.
"A Water Stone?" May asked.
"A Water Stone is a evolutionary stone that is used to make a certain Pokémon evolve. Like for example, you get a Vaporeon when you use it on an Eevee," Kairi explained.
"Just you know, I have a Lombre and I had him since he was a Lotad," Sora said, taking out Lombre's Pokéball and opened it. Lombre came right out. "Look, Lombre, that's what you're going to evolve into." Lombre looked up at Ludicolo.
"Si, your Lombre looks very healthy. You've been raising your Lombre well," Poncho said.
"Thanks," Sora said.
"So, by the way, would you be eating those sanwiches?" Poncho asked.
"We were. You're welcome to have some if you like," Kairi offered.
"Gracious," Poncho said as Kairi handed the entertainer one. "I was originally gonna challenge you into a battle for them, but I'll be glad to accept them if you're just offering."
"It's the least we can do. And I'm sure your Ludicolo is pretty hungry, too," Kairi said. She makes a plate of Pokémon food for Ludicolo and it happily ate the food.
"You like it, don'cha, mi amigo?" Poncho asked.
"Colo," Ludicolo said, happily.
"I'm glad," Poncho said.
Once the meal had concluded, Poncho and his Ludicolo decided to challenge Sora into a battle. Sora decided to use Corphish for his battle while Poncho was going with his Ludicolo.
"I'm ready whenever you are, Poncho," Sora said.
"Ludicolo never could battle unless I do this," Poncho said, playing his bongos. Ludicolo starts dancing through the rhythm. Sora chuckled a bit.
"I'm guessing that I'm gonna see that power boost in action," Sora said, he took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Corphish! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Corphish emerged from inside. "Okay, Corphish! Use Vise Grip!" Corphish came at the Carefree Pokémon.
"Dodge it, Ludicolo!" Poncho called out. Ludicolo dodged Corphish's Vise Grip. "Ludicolo, begin with Ice Punch!" Poncho ordered. Ludicolo moves in to deliever an icy punch on the Ruffian Pokémon.
"Corphish! Dodge and use Crabhammer!" Sora ordered. Corph avoids Ludicolo's attack and comes at the dancing Pokémon with his pincers.
"Use Protect!" Poncho ordered. Ludicolo forms a protective barrier and Crabhammer bounces off. "Ice Punch again!" Ludicolo comes at Corphish to deliever Ice Punch to Corphish.
"Dodge and use Bubble Beam!" Sora ordered. Corphish avoids Ludicolo's attack and fired at the Carefree Pokémon.
"Double Team!" Poncho ordered. Ludicolo made several images of itself, making it even more difficult for Corphish.
"Looks like Corphish is gonna have a hard time since Ludicolo is using Double Team," May said.
"Yeah, but Sora's at a disadvantage, because Ludicolo's a Grass-type, and Corphish is a Water-type," Max said.
"That's true, but Sora will find a way around it. He always does," Riku said.
"Gotta focus. Poncho probably has some other tricks up his sleeve. I just need to wing it," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Ludicolo! Use another Ice Punch!" Poncho ordered as Ludicolo comes at Anorith for an icy punch. With no time to dodge, all the copies lands a hit.
"Corphish! Focus! Try to find the real one! Fire Bubble Beam as soon as you do!" Sora called out. Corphish focuses as he tries to figure out which was which. Despite the beating of the bongos, Corphish manages to focus and found the real Ludicolo. Corphish fired Bubble Beam in the direction of the real Ludicolo and all the copies disappeared as soon as the attack hits. Corphish lands on the ground, feeling some pain.
"Ludicolo! Hyper Beam!" Poncho ordered. Ludicolo fires Hyper Beam right at Corphish. The beam comes right at the Ruffian Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Vise Grip!" Sora ordered. Corphish avoids Ludicolo's Hyper Beam and lands a strong Vise Grip attack. Knowing Ludicolo couldn't protect himself after using Hyper Beam, he had to strike now. "Now use Bubble Beam! Full power!" Corphish fires Bubble Beam and it takes Ludicolo in the blast and earned a knockout in Sora's favor.
"Aye caramba! Ludicolo!" Poncho exclaimed. He went up to his fallen partner. "Are you alright?"
"Ludicolo," Ludicolo responded.
"Good. I guess I might have pushed you a little. I'm sorry. Forgive me?" Poncho asked.
"Colo, Ludicolo," Ludicolo said.
"I'm glad, because I don't wanna lose your trust," Poncho. After the battle, Kairi had handed Poncho the extra sandwiches for the road. "Muchos gracious for the extra sandwiches, kids. I don't know how to repay you."
"You don't have to Poncho. I made those extra ones to be enjoyed and that's what you should do," Kairi said.
"And I'll be sure to do that. Your kindness won't go unappreciated," Poncho said. With that said and settled, they went their separate ways. A little while later, Sora decided to train his Marshtomp to get him ready for the battle against Lucy as well as his match against Norman. After getting done with their training, the group have set off once again and Petalburg City was just a short way there. It took them a couple of hours, but at last, they arrived into Petalburg City.
"Petalburg City, we've made it," Leaf said.
"Now we just gotta find the Battle Pike," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"That'll be easier said than done since we have no idea where to look," Ethan said.
"May, Max, you know where to look?" Kris asked.
"Um, not really," May said.
"We never really been anywhere in town without our parents," Max said.
"So much for that idea," Kris said.
"It would have been too easy, anyway," Riku said.
"Maybe Nurse Joy should know. I'm sure she has Trainers coming in and out of the Battle Pike and the Gym," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"That's not a bad idea, Sora. It's a good start as any," Naminé said.
"Hold it!" A girl's voice yelled out. The group turned to see three young women looking at them. One of them has blonde hair and olive green eyes. She wore a red-orange top and orange pants. She also wore a white jacket and white shoes. The second one has red hair and violet eyes. She wore a yellow crop top and orange pants. She also wore brown lace less shoes, and brown fingerless gloves. The third one has green hair and dark blue eyes. She wore a dark gray shirt and black pants. She wore black shoes. "Which one of you is Sora Ketchum, the one who is challenging Queen Lucy?"
"That's me," Sora said, raising his hand a bit. The blonde approached Sora.
"You're a bit shorter than I was expecting, and you're hair is ridiculous along with that outfit, and that necklace is a no-go. Totally tacky," the blonde said. Sora and Rei took offense to her remark about his necklace.
"Hey, you can't just talk to him like that," Rei said in a stern tone.
"I can talk to anyone however I want," the blonde said.
"I dare you to say that to my face, you bleached blonde bimbo!" Rei hissed.
"Be careful what you asked for, otherwise, I'd get that white dress of yours dirty," the blonde said.
A brawl was about to go down, but then, a Seviper-patterned whirligig is thrown, stopping them.
"Barbara, I told you to keep those insults to yourself," a new female voice is heard. She turned around to see a woman who is tall, pale and very slender. She has bright red eyes and long straight black hair with red lowlights at the sides. She wears a purple halter neck crop top that shows off her stomach, long purple gloves, black pants with a gold diamond pattern around the waist, and pointy purple high heels on her feet.
"My apologies, Queen Lucy," Barbara apologized. "But she got in my face and-"
"She was only defending him, and she was right to do so," Lucy said.
"Whatever you say, goes," Barbara said. Barbara knew better than to argue with her.
"The way you speak to our guests is uncalled for," Lucy said. "I'm sorry. I hope you'll please forgive my sister."
"It's alright," Rei said. "Just glad you came along before it got ugly."
"I see you're getting acquainted with each other," Scott said, walking in.
"Hey, Scott," Sora greeted.
"Hey, yourself. I was just looking for you," Scott said. "And it looks like Lucy and her staff saved me the trouble by finding you first." Lucy looked right at Sora and approached him.
"I was told you were coming, Sora. We can begin whenever you're ready," Lucy said.
"I came all this way, so I might as well get down to it," Sora said.
With that said, the group headed for the Battle Pike. It's a Seviper-themed building which didn't phase the group one bit. Acting as referee is girl with turquoise hair. She wore a sky blue crop top and white pants.
"The battle between the challenger, Sora from Pallet Town and Battle Frontier Brain, Pike Queen Lucy is about to begin! Each Trainer will be using three Pokémon and the victor needs three wins! The challenger is permitted to make substitutions anytime! Now, choose your Pokémon and begin!" The referee announced. Lucy took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Seviper! I choose you!" Lucy called out. Her Pokéball opened and her Seviper emerged from inside. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Marshtomp!" Sora called out. Marshtomp came out, ready to battle.
"Yes! Sora's starting out with Marshtomp!" Max said.
"Good choice on Sora's behalf since Marshtomp is a Ground-type Pokémon, so it's a good match-up against a Poison-type like Seviper. Let's see how this plays out," Scott said.
"Seviper! Poison Tail!" Lucy ordered. Seviper sends out its Poison Tail right at the Mud Fish Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Mud Shot!" Sora ordered. Marshtomp avoids Seviper's Poison Tail and sends out a Mud Shot.
"Dodge and use Crunch!" Lucy ordered. Seviper dodged Marshtomp's Mud Shot and came at Marshtomp with a Crunch.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Marshtomp tries to dodge, but Seviper came too fast for Marshtomp to dodge, and lands a heavy bite onto him. "Marshtomp!"
"That's our Queen!" Barbara cheered.
"That Seviper isn't just fast, but strong, too," Ethan said.
"Flamethrower!" Lucy ordered. Seviper fired Flamethrower right at Marshtomp.
"Use Water Gun!" Sora ordered. Marshtomp fired Water Gun right at Seviper's Flamethrower. The fire and water attacks collide with each other, but Seviper's Flamethrower pushes back Marshtomp's Flamethrower and land a hit.
"Poison Tail!" Lucy ordered. Seviper came at Marshtomp with a Poison Tail to land a hit.
"Use Mud Shot!" Sora ordered. Marshtomp fired a Mud Shot, hitting Seviper on the mark, much to the dismay of Lucy's staff, especially Barbara.
"Marshtomp finally landed a hit!" Naminé said.
"Azu, Azu!" Azurill chirped.
"Yeah, but it's not over yet!" Riku said.
"Seviper! Use Crunch!" Lucy ordered. Seviper heads right towards Marshtomp with a Crunch.
"Marshtomp! Use Water Pulse!" Sora ordered. Marshtomp forms a ball of water and sent right at Seviper, landing a hit. "Use Waterfall!" Marshtomp came at Seviper with a Waterfall, landing another hit on the Fang Snake Pokémon.
"Seviper! Use Poison Tail!" Lucy ordered. Seviper came at the Mud Fish Pokémon with a Poison Tail.
"Dodge and use Mud Shot!" Sora ordered. Marshtomp avoids Seviper's Poison Tail and fired a Mud Shot. She waited until the last minute.
"Use Poison Tail!" Lucy ordered. Seviper swings its tail and cuts through the ball of mud like a sword cutting through a pineapple. "Use Wrap!" Seviper heads right over to Marshtomp and wrapped its body around Marshtomp and started to squeeze.
"Now, she's got him," Barbara said.
"Fight, Queen Lucy, fight!" The other two young women cheered.
"Use Waterfall!" Sora ordered. Marshtomp managed to build up some water and go upward, taking Seviper with him. Marshtomp and Seviper came back down and lands right on the ground. Seviper was down for the count.
"Seviper is unable to battle! Marshtomp wins!" The referee announced.
"Yes! One down, two to go!" Ash exclaimed.
"Lucy lost the first round," the two girls said, disappointed.
"It's not over yet. She's got another ace up her sleeve," Barbara said. Lucy called back her Seviper and smiled.
"You battled well, Seviper. You've earned a good, long rest," Lucy said. She took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Steelix! I choose you!" Her Pokéball opened and a female Steelix came right out. Sora saw Marshtomp was exhausted from the battle he was just going through.
"Marshtomp has the type advantage, but unfortunately, he's worn out from that battle with Seviper. I better call Marshtomp back for now and send in Numel since he's a Fire-type," Sora said in his thoughts. He called back Marshtomp and he took out his next Pokéball and threw it. He shouted, "Okay, Numel! You're up!" His Pokéball opened and Numel emerged from inside.
"Numel," Numel said.
"Numel's a good choice to use against Steelix since he's a Fire and Ground-type," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"That's true, but don't forget that Steelix is a Ground-type, too. But types aren't everything," Scott said.
"Scott's right. Numel may have an advantage, but Numel's at a lower level than Steelix is, so it won't be easy," Rei said.
"Steelix! Use Ice Fang!" Lucy ordered. Steelix came at Numel with an Ice Fang.
"Dodge and use Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Numel managed to dodge and fire Flamethrower right at Steelix.
"Use Dragon Breath!" Lucy ordered. Steelix fired a Dragon Breath, blocking Numel's Flamethrower.
"Look at that! Numel's Flamethrower and Steelix's Dragon Breath are evenly matched!" Lyra said.
"No way!" Barbara said. "There's no way that puny Numel is ever a match for Steelix!" Barbara said.
They kept holding on until an explosion occurs between the both of them. Numel and Steelix has taken some damage.
"Okay, Numel! Use Earth Power!" Sora ordered. Numel's emits and orange aura and then slammed his hooves on the ground, making the ground shake. Steelix has taken some damage from Numel's attack.
"Use Breaking Swipe!" Lucy ordered. Steelix swings her tail and struck Numel on the mark. The Numb Pokémon gets back up on his hooves.
"Use Earth Power again!" Sora ordered. Numel's body gave off an orange aura and prepared to slam on the battlefield again.
"Jump!" Lucy called out. Steelix uses her tail to jump in the air and avoid Numel's Earth Power. "Heavy Slam!" Steelix started to come down right at Numel.
"That can't be good. Steelix is going to cause a huge amount of damage," Ethan said.
"Why's that?" May asked.
"Heavy Slam deals a huge amount of damage, depending on how heavy the Pokémon is," Riku said.
"Dodge it, Numel!" Sora called out. Numel ran to avoid Steelix's attack, but he gets caught in the shockwave of the attack. Numel lands on the ground. It looked like Numel was down, but he wasn't. He opened up his eyes and glared at the Iron Snake Pokémon.
"Numel's not staying down?! It must be as stubborn as a Mudbray," Barbara said.
"Steelix! Use Heavy Slam again!" Lucy ordered. Steelix jumped in the air again and started to come down at Numel. Sora had to the only thing he could think of.
"Use Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Numel fired a Flamethrower right at Steelix, dealing some damage and turning her entire body red. Numel ceased fire and ran to avoid Steelix, so she lands on the ground and her whole body was literally red hot.
"Wow, if that happened to me, that'll burn me up," Ethan said.
"Same here," Lyra said.
"Steelix has taken loads of damage from Numel's Flamethrower," Rei said.
"The rest is up to Sora," Lisia said.
"Okay, Numel! Use Earth Power!" Sora ordered. Numel slammed on the ground with another Earth Power, hitting Steelix again and resulting in a knockout.
"Steelix is unable to battle! Numel wins!" The referee announced.
"That's two Queen Lucy lost," the two young women said.
"Who cares? She's not finished yet," Barbara said.
"Good job, Numel!" Sora said.
"Numel!" Numel said as he started to evolve, much to everyone's surprise.
"Numel's evolving!" Max exclaimed.
Numel has now become a Camerupt. The newly evolved Camerupt snorts, skidding the battlefield.
"Numel's a Camerupt, now," Sora said. Lucy called back her Steelix and looked right at Sora.
"He's even better than Scott told me. I can see why Noland, Greta, and Tucker were beaten by him. But we shall see if he's ready for my third Pokémon," Lucy said in her thoughts. She took out her third Pokéball and threw it. She shouted out. "Go! Milotic!" Her Pokéball opened and her Milotic emerged from inside.
"A Milotic!" Lisia said.
"Okay, Camerupt's a Fire and Ground-type, so he's at a disadvantage against Milotic since it's a Water-type," Leaf said.
"You're right about that, Leaf," Riku said.
"Marill," Marill said.
"You still good to go, Cemerupt?" Sora asked.
"Rupt," Camerupt nodded.
"I'll back you up, Camerupt. Use Rock Slide!" Sora ordered. Camerupt unleashed Rock Slide right at Milotic.
"Use Twister!" Lucy ordered. Milotic creates a giant tornado and took the rocks in it. The twister comes right at Camerupt, too quick for him to get away in time.
"Camerupt!" Sora called out.
"Use Hydro Pump!" Lucy ordered. Milotic fired Hydro Pump, hitting Camerupt. The Eruption Pokémon fell on the battlefield, beaten.
"Camerupt is unable to battle! Milotic wins!" The referee announced.
"See? He's going down!" Barbara said.
"Long live Queen Lucy!" The young women proclaimed. Sora called back his Camerupt and smiled.
"You've earned yourself a good rest, Camerupt," Sora said. He took out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Marshtomp! Back to action!" His Pokéball opened and Marshtomp came back out to battle. The Mud Fish Pokémon was a little bit rested after his battle against Seviper, but he didn't have much energy left. "Start up with Water Pulse!" Marshtomp forms a ball of water and sent it right at Milotic.
"Use Iron Tail!" Lucy ordered. Milotic swings its tail, hitting Marshtomp's Water Pulse. "Uh-oh."
"Use Hydro Pump!" Lucy ordered. Milotic fired Hydro Pump, hitting Marshtomp and resulting in a knockout.
"Marshtomp is unable to battle! Milotic wins!" The referee announced.
"Now both Sora and Lucy are down to one each," Max said.
"The way I see it, it'll go either way," Riku said.
"You should get yourself a pair of glasses, because it won't go either way! It'll go Queen Lucy's way!" Barbara said.
"Won't you give it a rest already?!" Rei exclaimed.
"Man, that Milotic is tough. Pikachu, Lombre, and Grovyle are the only Pokémon I have that has an advantage over Milotic. Can't use Lombre because he's not ready for a Frontier battle yet, so my options have been narrowed down to Pikachu and Grovyle," Sora said. Before Sora could decide on who to use next, Pikachu spoke up.
"Pika," Pikachu said. Sora turned to his partner.
"You wanna have a go, buddy?" Sora asked.
"Pika," Pikachu nodded.
"I know I can always count on you, Pikachu. Go for it!" Sora said. Pikachu steps in the battlefield, ready to battle.
"Sending Pikachu out to battle gives Sora the advantage in battle," May said.
"It sure does," Brendan said.
"Yeah, but I have a feeling she's got something else she's going to send out right at Sora," Kairi said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"You're right, Kairi. We're gonna have to find out," Scott said.
"Thunderbolt, Pikachu!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fired Thunderbolt right at the Tender Pokémon. She didn't order Milotic to dodge, but took the hit instead.
"Use Hydro Pump!" Lucy ordered. Milotic fired Hydro Pump, hitting Pikachu on the mark.
"Pikachu, no!" Sora exclaimed.
"Pikachu, yes!" Barbara exclaimed. "Lucy's not wasting time with defense! With offense like that, who can blame her?"
"Yep, Barbara's got a point. She can never teach her Pokémon defensive moves," Scott said.
"This is even harder than I thought," Naminé said.
"Azurill," Azurill chirped.
"Use Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu swings his tail right at Milotic.
"Milotic! Iron Tail, as well!" Lucy ordered. Milotic swings her tail right at Pikachu. The Tender Pokémon pushes Pikachu back.
"Milotic pushed Pikachu back!" Lyra exclaimed.
"Marill!" Marill said.
Pikachu lands right on his feet.
"Use Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu ran towards Milotic with a Quick Attack.
"Twister!" Lucy ordered. Milotic fired Twister at the Mouse Pokémon, catching him in it. He slammed right into a rock. "Hydro Pump!" Milotic fired Hydro Pump, hitting Pikachu, dealing some additional damage.
"Those are all direct hits," Max said.
"If this keeps up, Pikachu's not going to last for long," Brendan said.
"Go, Queen Lucy! Fight, win, fight! Make it rain!" Barbara and the other two cheered.
"Iron Tail!" Lucy ordered. Milotic swings her tail right at Pikachu again.
"Pikachu! Fire Thunderbolt, but aim for the tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fired Thunderbolt right at Milotic's tail, hitting the Tender Pokémon. It resulted in Milotic being paralyzed from Pikachu's Thunderbolt. Lucy gasped when she saw it.
"What happened?!" Barbara exclaimed.
"Milotic's paralyzed, that's what," Rei said.
"That means Milotic won't be able to move as much," Lisia said.
"Wow, you're just full of surprises today, aren't you? I never seen a Thunderbolt being used like that before," Scott said.
"Better take advantage of the situation while we can, Pikachu. Use Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu ran towards Milotic with Quick Attack.
"Facade!" Lucy ordered.
"Facade?!" Sora exclaimed.
Milotic becomes surrounded by an orange aura that makes its body shine. It then tackles the Mouse Pokémon. Due to its paralysis, Milotic has dealt double the damage.
"Facade?" Naminé asked.
"Facade is a Normal-type move that doubles the damage if a Pokémon is either paralyzed, poisoned, or burned," Riku explained.
"Let's wrap this up! Use Twister!" Lucy ordered. Milotic fired a Twister right at Pikachu.
"Use Electro Ball, but make put a lot of power in it!" Sora ordered. Pikachu forms a ball of electricity and it rapidly builds up. Pikachu fired the ball of electricity and right into the Twister, much to Lucy's surprise. It heads right for Milotic and it lands a devastating hit on the Tender Pokémon, resulting in a knockout.
"Milotic is unable to battle! Pikachu wins! The winner is the challenger, Sora from Pallet Town!" The referee announced.
"You did it, Pikachu!" Sora said, praising his partner.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"That was awesome!" Max said.
"Sora really had that one figured out," May said.
"Whatever he figured out, he made it work," Riku said.
"Wait, Lucy's not supposed to lose," Barbara said.
After the battle, Sora and Lucy shook hands.
"Sora, thank you for a challenging battle," Lucy said.
"It's me that should be thanking you, Lucy," Sora said. "You really gave me a real run for my money."
"You displayed tremendous strength, Sora. And you deserve such good friends," Lucy said, looking at the rest of the group.
"Thanks," Sora said. Lucy took out a gold symbol with a diamond-shaped pattern.
"Here, your proof of winning here in the Battle Pike: The Luck Symbol," Lucy said. Sora accepts it. "Four symbols down, three more to go." Scott and the rest of the group walked up to Sora.
"You're well on your way, Sora," Scott said.
"Thanks. Now I just have Norman to contend with," Sora said.
"Well, you better win that one," Barbara said, walking up to Sora. "If you lose that battle, then you'll have me to answer to! Because any Trainer who defeats Queen Lucy is never allowed to lose!"
"Um, I'll be sure to remember that," Sora said.
Now that Sora has earned 4 out of 7 Frontier Symbols from Pike Queen Lucy, the battle against Norman is just around the corner, and Sora realizes Norman will not be an easy one, but we shall find out as we go on even further.
