Today was Alex's birthday and she and Dave had gotten even closer than they had been when they first met. Alex was in love and had told her parents about Dave though they had yet to meet him. Her parents were very happy for her, though Alex was sure her father had run a background check on Dave since he was a cop.

Yes, she was in adult. Had been for a long time but her father wouldn't have wanted her to get into a bad situation. Since she'd heard nothing from him that meant that he hadn't found anything to stop her mating with Dave.

She already knew that David Rossi was a good man, as it was clear he loved his adopted sons and a lot of people didn't care about their own children much less someone else's.

Dinner a few weeks ago had been fun as she got to know Spencer's two brothers a lot better. They seemed to like her and that was a great relief to her.

Dave had listened to his sons chat with her indulgently and had put forth his own comment now and then. Alex thought it was some kind of test to see how she and his sons got along and she hoped she had passed. Dave had seemed rather pleased she remembered and he wouldn't have been if she hadn't passed.

It had helped that the boys were nearly 18 and would soon be out of the house. Two or three years was all since they had started college a couple of years early.
"What about some lunch?" questioned her best friend Allyson Rowdon from the doorway of Alex's office.

"That sounds good," Alex said looking up from grading papers. "I didn't realize how hungry I was until you mentioned lunch."

"Let's go," Allyson said, "as I'm hungry too."

"Yeah, I didn't have much for breakfast just a bagel and coffee," Alex said, as she followed her friend out the front doors of the University.

"Happy birthday by the way," Allyson said the two of them got into her car. "I meant to wish you a happy birthday this morning but then got distracted."

"Thanks," Alex said with a smile as Allyson drove out of the parking lot. "I am now officially 35."

"Which really isn't old at all," Allyson said.

"No it's not," Alex agreed.

"So how's your relationship with the handsome David Rossi going?" Allyson asked.

"It's going very well," Alex said smiling softly. "He has yet to meet my parents or my brother but other than that things are going really well."

"Your parents live in Kentucky though right?" Allyson asked.

"Right," Alex agreed. "Still, it's only proper to introduce them to Dave."

"They know about him right?" Allyson asked.

"They do," Alex said. "I'm sure my father did a background check on him just to make sure he wasn't some kind a predator. Since I haven't heard anything back that just means dad didn't find anything that worried him."

"You sure your father did a background check?" Allyson asked with a raised eyebrow in curiosity.

"I am," Alex told her friend, as they pulled up at the restaurant. "My father is a captain on the police force and there's no way he wouldn't have done a background check on anyone I was seriously involved with. Even if he didn't my brother Scott would have, as he's a detective on the same force. Both know that there are numerous predators out there and they wouldn't want me to find myself in a situation where I get hurt and not just emotionally but physically. I never tell them if I'm dating someone. That I did this time means I'm sure Dave is close to asking me to mate with him."

"I hope it works out," Allyson said, as the two of them got out of the car.

"Believe me, I do too, as I've dated a lot of duds," Alex said. "You know how it is. How hard it is to find a man you actually want to marry or get mated it to depending on species."

"There is that," Allyson agreed wholeheartedly. "I would love to settle down, but I have yet to meet any man that I would like to do that with and I'm only three years younger than you are."

"There is something to be said for dating an older and more mature alpha," Alex smirked

"You are so lucky," Allyson said enviously.

"Dave hasn't proposed yet so it might not lead to us mating," Alex said not telling her friend what Dave had said a few weeks ago about something special for her birthday. That meant today when she saw Dave after classes were over. Dave had mentioned wanting to get her pregnant with her next heat so Alex was pretty sure that meant he was going to propose to her today, since it was her birthday.

"I've seen you two together often enough to know that you love each other so I suspect a proposal will be coming," Allyson said.

"If he does I won't be turning it down," Alex said cheerfully, as they entered the cafe. "I doubt I would find anyone better than David Rossi and that I've dated a lot of alphas over the years. That none worked out for various reasons ought to prove that."

The two sat at a booth and picked up their menus that were already on the table.

"There are a lot of stupid men out there that make demands that they have no right to make and that's true for humans to," Allyson said. "Even omegas are guilty of that. Omegas at least should know better than to make demands of someone like me."

"I can attest to that," Alex said that she studied the menu. "Our traditions are different than the human ones and there were quite a few alphas that wanted me to quit working entirely as they wanted to be the ones to bring home the bacon. They didn't seem to care I still had students loans, to pay even if they're mostly paid off now. They didn't care that I had worked hard to get my degree in linguistics."

"And how did they expect you to pay off the rest of your student loans if you didn't have a source of income?" Allyson inquired with an ironic little smile.

Alex returned the smile and shrugged, "They didn't say."

"Of course, they didn't as it didn't concern them and I'm sure they didn't offer to pay off the rest of your loans if you mated with them."

"You know Dave said something similar when I told him about those alphas,"Alex said.

"Well, that just shows that Dave was raised properly," Allyson offered as she was an alpha herself though not as strong as Dave personalitywise.

The two ladies were good friends despite working into totally different departments. Both of them ordered their food and started eating as soon as it came for they only had a limited time for lunch.

"Happy birthday Alex," Dave said planting a kiss on her lips.

The two of them stood on the terrace that was off the living room. There were plants all over the terrace, some with flowers other without and it was the housekeeper's job to water them when they needed it. Alex loved just standing here gazing out at the backyard which was pretty big, especially for New York.

"Thank you," Alex said. "I'm glad you remembered. So many men don't, even if they were only told a few weeks into our relationship."

"I will never forget your birthday," Dave promised. "In fact, I believe I implied that there will be a special surprise on that day."

"You did, but I wasn't going to hold you to it if you changed your mind," Alex said softly.

"Do you really think so little of me?" Dave inquired with a slight smile.

"No, I think the world of you actually but let's just say, I've dated a few alphas the didn't remember my birthday, even if we had only been dating for a couple of weeks at the time when it approached. They were careless and thoughtless and even if they had wanted to mate I likely would've told them no. They never even acknowledged the day by wishing me a happy birthday, which is the least they could've done. If they couldn't even acknowledge my birthday that meant they'd be careless in other ways."

"Very sound reasoning and you're absolutely correct," Dave said. "I'm glad to know I don't fall into that category with you, as I've come to love you very much."

"I love you too," Alex said, even as she turned in Dave's arms to face him. She kissed him softly and Dave accepted the kiss and immediately took control of it.

"I want to mate with you, just as I promised you several weeks ago," said Dave once the kiss had broken. "My sons adore you, including Spencer. It's because he took your classes that we met and I will always be grateful. I had despaired on ever finding another mate after Carolyn died along with my twin daughters. Say yes and I'll be the happiest alpha in the world."

"I know that feeling very well," Alex said as she cuddled in to Dave's embrace. "And of course I will mate with you, as it's not like I've had any luck finding an alpha or even just a human to settle down with. At least not until I met you. I've been happier with you in my life than I ever was with those other twits."

"Good!" Dave said ecstatic, as he hugged Alex close to him.

"You still need to meet my parents at least, which would either mean them coming here or us going up to Kentucky."

"It is only proper I meet your parents and your brother," Dave agreed without arguing.

"After that, you're welcome to get me pregnant with my next heat, as you implied you wanted to when you said there'd be a surprise for my birthday," Alex added grinning as she imagined that.

"It's more than OK with me. It won't be long before the triplets are out of the house and out on their own just a couple of years. They are welcome to live here as long as they like, but I doubt they'll agree to do that once they finish their education. You already know I've been wanting children for a long time, which is one reason I adopted the triplets in the first place. They needed a safe place to land where they would be loved and their intelligence encouraged not dismissed, which is another reason I did it."

"You've done a good job on raising them. I might have given Spencer confidence but you are his father. I think he just needed a females opinion and since you're not mated he didn't have a female to help him gain confidence in himself."

"I think it's more he needed another Omega's opinion as alphas don't think in the same way," Dave corrected. "Not necessarily just a female. It was just lucky that you're not only an omega but also a female, one who is intelligent and forthright."

"Perhaps you're right," Alex said she considered Dave's hypnosis.

"It doesn't really matter anyway," Dave said. "Spencer is now acting with more confidence and I was happy to see that happen. However, thanks to his confidence issues we met and I'll always be grateful. Now, if you're ready to go in I have a gift for you not only for your birthday but because you have agreed to become my mate."

"I just love standing out here gazing out at New York, as you have such a good view and it's such a nice night," Alex said.

"We'll be able to enjoy the view for many years," Dave said, as he hugged Alex close to him.

"The view isn't why I fell in love with you, but it is a nice bonus," Alex said and Dave chuckled appreciatively.

Alex spent a few more minutes just looking out at New York before she turned and started inside Dave following.

"Here you go," Dave said handing Alex and oblong box went Alex knew contained either a bracelet or necklace.

It was tradition that the alpha about to be mated to an omega gave them some kind of jewelry, though it did depend on finances as to how nice that jewelry was. Since Alex knew Dave was very wealthy it was going to be a very expensive piece of jewelry and probably in exquisite taste.

She didn't necessarily need the jewelry, as she was not that kind of person who needed a lot of expensive things, but you never turned down something like that from the alpha who had asked you to mate. That would insult the alpha in question and get you punished something that Alex would never do, not with Dave at least.

Alex opened the box, which was wrapped in nice paper and Dave watched her with an expression of anticipation and eagerness.

"Oh Dave, it's gorgeous!" Alex gasped, as she finally revealed the piece of jewelry Dave had bought her.

Inside the jewelry case, which had come from one of the most expensive jewelry stores in the world was a necklace of diamonds.

The diamonds weren't very big, but it was still worth several thousand dollars at least and she wasn't about to ask how much Dave had paid for it as that wasn't her place. You never questioned a present from the Alpha you were about to get mated to as that would insult them.

"I'm glad you love it so much as when I saw it I thought of you and how it would look with you wearing it," Dave said.

"I love it," Alex exclaimed, as she gave Dave a passionate kiss in thanks.

"Wow!" Dave said looking rather woozy from the kiss. "Why don't we head upstairs and do what all newly mated couples do?"

"That's the best idea I've heard in a long time," Alex said grinning from ear to ear. The pair started for the stairs and Dave followed Alex up. It wasn't long before they stood in what was now their bedroom instead of just his.

Dave let his mating teeth descend with great pleasure and took Alex in his arms with her back against his chest. "I'll love you forever," Dave whispered in Alex's ear. "Thank you for agreeing to mate with me. I promise I'll always treat you as an equal and not like those other alphas treated you as if you didn't have any intelligence of your own, no ambition or goals."

"If you had doubted that I never would've agreed to mate with you," Alex murmured, as Dave bit down on the side of her neck making the pouch burst releasing the liquid within.

Both Dave and Alex groaned at the pleasure that caused and both came in their underwear. Dave then ripped Alex's clothes off until she was naked except for her bra and underwear.

Dave lifted her into his arms and put her on the bed Alex not protesting as Dave was immediately on top of her.

The two of them made love for quite some time before they were finally sated and satisfied with Dave sliding into her not long after he had ripped her clothes off.

It was a good thing she had spare clothes that she kept in Dave's dresser or she would have been to be in trouble when she went back to her apartment to collect the rest of her things.

That was Alex's last thought before she felt Dave bite her shoulder with his mating teeth and it was that that knocked unconscious even as her third climax washed over her.

"Are you OK?" Dave asked her once Alex regained consciousness.

"I'm wonderful," Alex promised him, even as she turned her head to give him a kiss after stretching luxuriously. "I almost wish I was in heat so I would be pregnant after that session, but unfortunately, I don't go into heat for several weeks."

"When? I'll be happy to get you pregnant as soon as you do as I told you downstairs," Dave said grinning at the thought of children filling his home with laughter.

"About six weeks, give or take a few days either way," Alex said after doing the calculations in her head.

"That's not long at all," Dave said. "It'll just give you time to settle in here and let your apartment go."

"We'll have to move the rest of my stuff sometime in the next couple of weeks," Alex said. "We need to go visit my parents and tell them they have a new son-in-law in person."

"Surely, you told your parents about me when you talk on the phone or over email," Dave said.

"I did, but they didn't know I was going to mate with you. I just told them it was serious and I expected it at some point. I told them it wasn't a sure thing. I have no doubt my father ran a background check on you for safety."

"He probably did and I don't mind that at all as he's only looking out for his only daughter," Dave said

"Good, I'm glad you're not offended," Alex said relieved. "I hardly ever mentioned if I was in a relationship whenever I talked to my mother as it never got serious enough to do that for one thing and I didn't want my parents worrying about me. They've been hinting that I need to settle down and I never had the slightest luck in finding anyone until I met you."

"Of course I'm not offended, though I know some alphas would be if you mentioned your father doing a background check to make sure they weren't criminals in hiding or at least had a record. Not checking up on somebody you've agreed to mate with is just foolish and also stupid. Your father loves you so of course, he would make sure that you don't get into a bad situation by mating with the wrong type of alpha."

"I'm glad you see it that way," Alex said, as she cuddled into Dave's side very comfortably. Her tone was relieved. "I haven't heard a peep back from him warning me off so that tells me he found nothing to worry him. I would've heard about it if there was something that my father didn't like about your background."

Dave simply chuckled not at all offended.

"We'll go up to visit sometime in the next few weeks," Dave promised. "Certainly before you go into heat. Maybe on a weekend."

"That would be wonderful," Alex said. "I haven't seen them in a long time."

"Another round gorgeous?" Dave suggested looking at Alex with a puppy dog expression.

"I see you're no longer locked inside me," Alex said because Dave was laying on his side of the bed his penis now free from her body. Their species was much like their animal counterparts and had an extra knot on their penis that could grow and expand until they were locked inside their chosen female. "Don't apologize," Alex said. "I don't mind them I promise you. It just shows me you really do love me as alphas and omega's have been leaving bruises and teeth marks on their mates for untold years. I know I left several deep scratches on your back from the rough sex and I'm not gonna to apologize for them."

"I don't expect you too," Dave said more than pleased with his new mate's response, as it had been a test on his part and Alex had passed with flying colors. "You're right, that our kind has been leaving marks on each other for centuries if they are really in love anyway."

"As to your earlier request, I don't mind another round before we get some sleep. As many rounds as you like as I don't have to work tomorrow because it's the weekend. It was really lucky that my birthday just happened to fall on Friday this year."

Dave simply grinned and started making love to Alex again.
