Chapter one: Dreaming of you.

Shuri gasped as her back hit the glass window. It was thundering outside with strikes of lighting illuminating her room.

She couldn't see anything, but she could feel.

His hands.

She could feel his hands.

His hands were roaming.

"Tin in k'aaba'" he whispered in her ear. (Say my name.)

Shuri could only let out a cry as a flood of pleasure came her way, but it stopped just as fast as it came.

He hadn't pulled out, but he had stopped his movements.

"No! Please…" she begged.

His growled in her ear, his tongue licking any part of her he could.

"Tin in k'aaba'" he said louder this time. (say my name.)

Shuri refused.

She couldn't.

If she did, it would all be too real, their love, their passion it would become real and not just the small bubble she kept it in.

"In reina, in ki'ichpanil, tin in k'aaba'!" he begged. (My Queen, my beauty, Say my name!)

Shuri gasped. He never begged.

It was then she opened her eyes and as lighting flashed, she could see him.

Looking into his eyes, she saw it. she saw his love for her, she saw the loneliness and yet the fire. The fire for her!

At the clap of thunder, she could no longer resist, and as lighting struck, she shouted his name, riding on a wave of pleasure.

"CH'AH TOH ALMEHEN!'

…..

Shuri awoke, a scream still in her throat. The sheets were wrapped around her legs, and she was covered in sweat.

A knock at her door sounded and before she could reply it opened.

"Yo, Little cousin you alright? you were screaming in your sleep." N'Jadaka asked as he popped his head in.

Shuri nodded silently. However, N'Jadaka didn't leave, he stepped in further a concerned look on his face.

"How about some milk and cookies?" he suggested.

Shuri sighed and gave him a half smile.

Milk and cookies her favorite American treat, it was something she and father used to do when they couldn't sleep. Apparently, her uncle used to do the same thing with N'Jadaka.

With silent footsteps Shuri followed him to the kitchen.

The kitchen doors opened automatically, a system she decided to place to prevent the servants from having to open and close the doors while they worked.

N'Jadaka opened the refrigerator and pulled out a pitcher of amasi while Shuri reached into the top cupboard and pulled out a container of Oreo's.

"So, what's going on Cuz? You haven't been the same these few months. Ever since the fight with w'kabi you haven't been the same. You fought well in battle. What's bothering you?"

Shuri shook her head and took a bite of a cookie.

"I promise, Im ok cousin. Just a little tired. How are you adjusting? Congratulations on your promotion. You deserve it."

N'Jadaka grinned and scratched the back of his head.

"it's a big responsibility, I just don't want to screw up and don't think I cant see through your little scheme Shuri. I know your avoiding the subject. But I'll give it a pass for tonight."

Shuri blushed and looked away as her cousin called her out her avoidance tactic.

It was funny how things had changed in the past two years. Two years ago, a family shame had been revealed. Her father had killed their uncle for revealing Wakanda's location of vibranium. It turns out, her uncle had been a war dog, on a mission in America but once he saw the suffering of black Americans, he felt guilty. How could Wakanda be thriving and yet here these people that looked like them were suffering? It was then a decision was made, her uncle met an arms dealer and helped him break into Wakanda. However, that caused many deaths, as the arms dealer killed them upon entering. Her father found out what he did and killed him. But he left N'Jadaka to fend for himself. Years later N'Jadaka turned up on the wakadian border, that same arms dealer dead in his arms.

He was brought to the throne room where he revealed who he was. Of course, some of the elders were in an uproar and her mother had been shocked, betrayed even. But T'challa. T'challa responded in a way that shut the elders up.

He embraced N'Jadaka.

It turns out N'Jadaka story was true, elder zuri had confirmed it, admitting his own guilt that played a part in her uncles death.

With the truth revealed, N'Jadaka was welcomed with open arms. However not everyone was happy, months later W'kabi betrayed Wakanda and he challenged T'challa for the throne. T'challa refused but W'kabi fought dirty and tried to have T'challa killed. He invited enemies into their kingdom. It led out to full scale war. But w'kabi underestimated her family. Together, she, T'challa and N'Jadaka won the war.

Two years later here they stood. T'challa reigning as a strong king and fulling his duties as the black panther. N'Jadaka being promoted to ambassador for their nation and other countries as well as the new head of security. And what about her? what had she done so far?

Shuri continued to teach at Wakanda university twice a week, she continued countless hours in the lab enhancing their various weapons but also helping out their allies such as the avengers. She helped heal bucky Barnes and heal agent ross. wasn't that enough?

Yes. yes, it was. Career wise she couldn't ask for more.

But what about her personal life? Tomorrow her brother and Nakia would be celebrating the birth of their son. Toussaint, her first nephew. The new heir to the throne. She couldn't be happier for them.

But deep down, Shuri desired someone to love and someone who would love her. someone who saw past her royal position.

"Eric? Shuri? What are you two doing up?"

Both she and eric jumped when her mother appeared in the kitchen doorway.

"Hey auntie. Sorry, Shuri and I couldn't sleep. Where just having a midnight snack."

Her mother did not look happy.

"Hmm. Midnight snack, such an American thing to do. Both of You, off to bed. We have important things to do tomorrow." Her mother scolded her as she kissed both of them on the cheek and went back to bed.

As soon as her footsteps couldn't be heard N'Jadaka laughed.

"she's such a mom."

"yeah." Shuri agreed as she played with an Oreo.

"I have a question."

"I may have an answer" N'Jadaka smiled.

"Are you not angry? At my father? I mean he just left you and he hid secrets from us. why didn't you challenge T'challa for the throne or threaten to burn Wakanda down!?"

"that's a little villainous don't you think?" he questioned her with a sad smile.

Shuri sighed and gave him a look of impatience.

"I was angry Shuri. For a long time, I was angry. I had dreams of coming here and tearing this place apart. However, the older I got the more…sad I became. Anger was replaced with sadness. I was utterly alone. My mom died in prison; my father was dead. The only place I could think of was to come here. To come home. I graduated top of my class at Harvard university, and I joined the navy seals but nothing I did fulfilled that feeling inside. I wanted answers. I wanted to know why? Why did my uncle kill my father, why did my father betray his country. Don't get me wrong, I understand where both of them came from. I grew up in America, I saw the poverty of black people, but I also saw how some of them didn't want to help themselves and blamed the white man for all of their problems. Instead of standing together that fought against each other. My father was …moved by their plight and yet my uncle could only see the ramifications of revealing Wakanda would do to our people and the outside world. The world is full of greed and politics. Long story short, I am angry at them and what they did. Instead of coming up with solutions they decided to fight each other. That's why I am here now. I wanted my family and I wanted to help. You brother is giving me that opportunity. Here I am able to protect Wakanda and yet help the outside world with limitations. Uncle T'Chaka had a point, the outside world will try to harm us, and I won't let that happen however, that doesn't mean we can choose to bring aid to people that need it."

Shuri blinked back angry tears.

"Oh crap, oh Shuri… don't cry... please ...im not good with tears... its going to be ok. everything is fine now."

"Im not crying you idiot. Im just tired. Good night."

With that said, she walked out of the kitchen wanting to hit herself for her display of vulnerability.

Her mother would have scolded her. she was Shuri, princess of Wakanda, their chief of science. She wasn't supposed to be almost crying in the kitchen.

With that thought, Shuri fell back asleep. The sound of waves and the feeling of the ocean invading her dreams.
