I do not own any of this. Paranorman belongs to Laika and Sonic The Hedgehog belongs to Sega.

Beyond the vast expanse of the universe laid a planet called Mobius. This planet is very similar to Earth, except that instead of humans, anthropomorphic animals are the dominant lifeforms with all sorts of advanced cultures and technologies. On one part of the world is a large island called: South Island. A place where tiny creatures go about their daily lives in blissful harmony.

Two birds, fast asleep near the sandy beaches of the island, were suddenly awakened by a blue blur speeding below their nest. The wind kicked up by this intruder also ruffled their feathers and caused them to tweet in surprise at the unexpected wake-up call.

The blue blur speeds through the island faster than the speed of sound. It takes many sharp turns, loop-de-loops, jumps over chasms, avoids random spikes, and parkours on canyon walls before jumping off and landing in the middle of a field full of flowers. As the blur comes to a stop, it reveals itself to be a young blue hedgehog, around nine years old.

This hedgehog was born with an extraordinary power of super speed. He is proud of his gift, as he can get to the other side of the island in mere seconds. He's so fast that he can rush past anyone without them even noticing him. However, the most important thing about him is that his name is Sonic.

Today, on this fine morning, Sonic has come here to collect a flower for his mentor and guardian, LongClaw. He needed to pick the right one for she really deserved something special, but which one was the difficult question. "Perhaps she would like the red one?"

A cry of distress suddenly caught Sonic's attention. He quickly looked up in alarm and saw the horrific sight of a baby rabbit hanging on for dear life on a overhead cliff. Without even thinking, Sonic raced all the way to the top and gently grabbed hold of the rabbit's paws, helping him up to safety, he places him down far enough away from the dangerous edge. "Are you alright, little buddy?"

The rabbit quickly responded with a grateful nod before hugging Sonic tightly, who happily returned it before departing with the rabbit. "You should be very careful where you are, little buddy. A cliff is no place for a cool rabbit like you."

Nodding in agreement, the rabbit then hopped away to meet up with his family, leaving a very happy Sonic behind who felt proud of having saved someone's life. This is actually another big aspect of Sonic for besides his speed; he also has a large heart that lets him protects anyone he sees in danger. Even at the risk of his own safety, he'll rush in to save those in need.

Speaking of which, he should really get back to searching for the perfect flower for LongClaw. Racing back to the field of flowers, he searches hard until a nice yellow flower catches his eye. Plucking it from the ground, Sonic runs to the east side of the island where large trees are found. Some of these trees have wooden ramps leading up to several huts that are connected by several bridges.

Sonic took one path that led him all the way up to LongClaw's hut. Once he neared the door, he rolled himself into a ball to slow himself down. He entered through the door and rolled right into the desk LongClaw was sleeping on, startling her awake as he bounced back and gently lands on his rear by the door, cracking up with laughter as he does so.

Now fully awake from the unexpected wake up call, LongClaw looked down to Sonic a bit sternly. "Sonic. Someone could've seen you." She warned him several times about Mobians who would want to use his power for their own nefarious uses, but just like any other kid Sonic's age, he always did the exact opposite by going out on runs.

Today was no different as he cockily dismissed the concern. "No one saw me. I'm too fast." After doing a fake run, Sonic then happily pulls out the flower from his quills. "And I wanted to bring you this."

Looking at the flower, she smiled warmly at her apprentice as he has such a kind heart who cares greatly for others. The tender moment between the two is unfortunately short lived, once she caught movement on a branch outside. Looking up to get more focus on the moving figures, she gasps as to her dread it is a tribe of Echidnas: a group of powerful warriors who've been a fierce rival to her people for many years.

They found her location and now they were going to capture Sonic in order to regain power from the Master Emerald. In order to do that, they needed to get her out of the way; as they all raised their bows.

Without any delay, LongClaw launched herself towards the door and shut it as a rain of arrows came flying at her and Sonic. She protected Sonic with her body as the arrows struck against the walls or pierced through her windows, providing an opening for the approaching Echidnas. Several jumped in with spears at the ready, while another held a net for the cowering Sonic, who clung to her chest.

Normally she would fight them off, but now wasn't the time; she needed to get Sonic out of here right now. Extending out her wings, she took off through an unguarded window, knocking off two unsuspecting Echidna in the process.

The Echidnas weren't known for giving up as they all quickly began firing at the escaping owl. She did her best to dodge the incoming arrows, but one managed to hit her in the side, forcing her and Sonic to crash land on the nearby forest floor. She did a few rolls before finally stopping; she was hurt, but that didn't matter right now as she looked down to Sonic, who was thankfully alright.

There's no time for relief, however; the Echidnas are not that far behind. She needs to act fast before they catch up. Getting up on her feet, LongClaw gently placed Sonic down before speaking to him firmly. "Listen carefully, Sonic. You have a power unlike anything I have ever seen. And that means someone will always want it. The only way to stay safe is to stay hidden."

Sonic took her words very seriously to heart. Today was supposed to be a happy day, but now these bad guys had found them and forced them out of their home while they pursued them for his power. He was only brought out of his thoughts once LongClaw threw a ring that opened up a portal to a unfamiliar world that had a road stretching out between a forest.

"This world is on the far side of the universe. You should be safe there."

You, not we. LongClaw wasn't going with him to this new world. This couldn't be happening, he wouldn't let it happen. "I don't want to go without you." He pleaded.

"You must." She replied firmly with urgentness crying out through her voice for this was a hard, but necessary thing for her to do. LongClaw then hands Sonic her bag of rings. "These rings will be your most important possession."

Warrior's cries soon alerted LongClaw to the approaching Echidnas. There wasn't much time left, so without a moment's delay, she placed a wing behind Sonic and gently moved him through the portal. "If you're ever discovered, use one. Never stop running. Now go!"

Following her instructions, Sonic began running away from the portal. Looking back, he saw LongClaw extending out her wings in order to fight the approaching Echidnas, who all had their spears at the ready. Gasping in concern for her safety, Sonic immediately stopped and ran back towards the closing portal; he couldn't let LongClaw fight all those guys alone!

As for LongClaw herself, she slowly looked back to him with a sad smile. "Goodbye, Sonic," she said before turning away from him and flew towards the Echidnas with her talons out.

"No!" Sonic ran faster, but it was too late. The portal closed and disappeared just as he reached it, resulting in Sonic running a few short distances before stopping altogether on the lonely road, breathing heavily from what had just happened. He lost LongClaw; the one who took care of him all his life is now fighting against a large number of warriors, leaving him all alone on this new world.

Looking around fearfully, with small tears leaking from his eyes, Sonic saw only the dark trees of the forest and the stars above him. Clutching the rings tightly to his chest, Sonic jumped at the distant sound of a stick snapping. There was no way he would be staying here for long.

Turning back, Sonic ran down the road at high speeds, passing right by a sign that said "Blithe Hallow: 1 mile."
