This was mostly just an editing challenge I gave myself to spot hidden mistakes or how I can edit something and spot the errors through long passages. I plan to do something similar for a living and thought this would be easier to practice with. This is just now basically a fanfic of a fanfic and I can't help it. The original show was already so great and cartoonace take on it was just so inspiring that I also wanted to try my hand in the universe they created. Please cartoonace if you are reading, do not take this as me stealing your fanfic, but just loving your writing so much that I saw your work like how we see the works of shows, movies, and books and want to take our own spin on the story line. The town of Retroville was a very small and peaceful place. It had moderately happy people and a low crime rate. It was the kind of place you would go to get away from it all. That was the case until an explosion in the desert would change the town and its people forever. When Jamey Ismey Neutron was five years old her father Hugh Neutron was killed in a home break in which the killer was never caught. Her mother was a mess and leaned on their neighbor and childhood best friend Martha Wheezer, a single mother to Carlton "Carl" Wheezer. He was Jamey's best and only friend and vice versa. When Jamey and Carl were seven their mothers got married to one another and they became brother and sister. The two promised to always look out for one another.
Jamey was a genius there was no doubt about that. She was in college by age eleven and graduated by age fourteen. During her graduation there was a visitor who had an offer for Jamey that had her mothers concerned. General Vortex offered Jamey the opportunity to help on a project that would help save lives. At the time General Vortex did not say much because the project is top secret and said that Judy could come to the base if she was unsure about this offer for her daughter. Martha was not happy that she was being excluded by the general in a decision that affected her daughter. The three have known each other for years because they all live on the same street. Judy fought General Vortex to include Martha in the tour of the base; an argument which she eventually won.
The mothers made their way to the base with Jamey. After a long car ride through the desert the Neutron-Wheezers finally made it. At the entrance of the base, General Vortex was waiting for them in his uniform wearing his various medals. "Welcome Neutrons, how was the trip? Thirsty, Hungry?" He greeted them. Judy was not in the mood for any of his small talk or nicaties. She was not on the best of terms with General Vortex. Her late husband used to work for him and even though the police say his cause of death was a home invasion gone wrong and she hasn't been able to prove it she just has always had this feeling that he was somehow responsible for her husband's death. She has never told anyone of her suspension because again she has never had proof. She wasn't going to waste her life living in the past when she needed to be there for her daughter, so that's exactly what she was doing now being there for her daughter.
General Vortex led the Neutrons to where he wanted to show them. "This is what I wanted to show you." The General said a bit more professionally. He then walked them over to what looked like a pile of rocks. "What is that?" Judy asked, looking at the general with a concerned and skeptical look. "That was Captain Nathanal Saunders." The General answered seriously. "What happened to him?" Jamey asked. General Vortex sighed. "On a mission to repair the space station's outer shell Captain Saunders was hit by a small meteorite cracking his helmet. They were able to get him inside in time and all seemed well until he got home. His skin began to mutate, turning into some kind of organic rock substance, we sent more astronauts to get the meteor fragment and when we brought it here it was emitting a different form of cosmic energy. Our researchers discovered it was from the Van Pattern Belt." Martha looked at the general with intense worry in her eyes. "So what is it you want from our daughter?" General Vortex turned to her to answer. "I believe that we can create individuals that can do things normal humans cannot." Jamey has always wanted to help people and knew that she would be able to through her work and this was her chance. "So in short you want me to help you create super soldiers." Jamey commented. Walking up to him the general answered. "Yes."
"I'll do it, but on the condition that we create a temporary solution. This way we find a way to protect people without giving anybody too much power that can't be controlled." Jamey said with a smile. Her mothers looked at her in shock and asked. "Are you sure about this?"
"Yes moms, this is the opportunity of a lifetime. I would be honored to create the next generation of the human race, but I won't do it unless you two say it's okay." Judy and Martha took a moment to talk in private before approaching Jamey and General Vortex. "We'll let Jamey do this on condition Sam, you promise to protect our girl. Because if you don't Sam you will regret the day you ever came to that graduation. Do you understand me." Said Judy in a very threatening voice. "I promise on my son's life you have my word." Replied General Vortex in a very serious tone. "Then what are we waiting for? Let's get started." Jamey screamed excitedly.
Three Years Later
Jamey was walking down a hall with an angry expression lit on her face, as she entered the room she saw General Vortex on his phone talking to someone. "Listen I'm sorry I couldn't make it today, I promise I will make it up to you." The phone call ended abruptly. "Hello, hello, ahhhh!" He looked at Jamey. "Trust me Jamey, never have children." Jamey just stood there tight lipped looking at him in frustration. He has been pushing her to make a permanent solution to the super soldier project instead of a temporary 75 hour one against her wishes, and now what he is planning to do has gone too far.
"I'll take that into consideration." Replied Jamey with a serious face. "Okay Jamey, what do you want?" Asked the general while rubbing his temples. "I was going to ask what you thought you were doing? The Neutron Chamber isn't ready yet." Jamey said with an angry expression. "I understand your concerns Jamey, but our simulations show that it will work." The general said in a calm voice. "Ya, but I still believe we need to run more tests before we begin with human testing." Jamey explained calming down. The general walked up to her. "Listen here Jamey you've been a great help to me, nothing we have now could have been accomplished without you, but people like you tend to be too cautious for your own good. We'll continue as planned."
As the two were having their discussion Jamey's lab partner (fellow young genius) AJ came to join the discussion. "General you can't go through with the testing yet." AJ stated. General Vortex was tired of having this argument with these two over cautious scientists. "Not you too?!? Listen we are going through with the testing rather you two are a part of it or not." General commanded. "At least give us till the end of the week to make sure that there aren't any issues that may occur. If it fails today, who knows what kind of setbacks that may cause." AJ asked, trying to reach some sort of reason with the man. "Fine. You have till the end of the week." With that AJ and Jamey went back to the work they were doing when they had found out about the general's plan. When the two were gone one of the fellow scientists came over to ask the general if he should tell the men the testing was off for the day. "No. We continue as planned without those two." With that the General went to the control room to begin testing on the chamber.
Jamey and AJ were back in the lab where they had been trying to find a solution to Stone's condition. Tired and hungry Jamey looked down at the table and saw a can of orange juice. "Are you gonna finish that?" She asked AJ in which he gave it to her without hesitation. Just as Jamey finished the can the two heard the chamber being turned on. Jamey looked at AJ knowing that they had been lied to. Without hesitation they rushed to try and stop the experiment. Back in the room where the general was, he stood behind a safety glass that was supposed to protect them from any radiation. Beyond the glass was a massive machine with four chambers on its side, four men walked in each entering a chamber. "Commence final safety precautions." General Vortex ordered. "All is well sir." Said one of the technicians. "Input the sample." Said General Vortex. A crane carrying a very large meteorite lowered the sample in the middle of the machine. "Commence countdown." General Vortex barked. The technician responded. "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and engage." The machine began to activate causing the meteorite to glow a deep blue and purple color. "All seems to be going well." Said the general. When out of nowhere the meteorite began glowing brighter making the machine begin to malfunction. "What's happening!" Shouted the general.
"The meteorite is generating more power than the chamber can handle. Abort it now!" Shouted Jamey as she and AJ entered the room to find that they were too late. The two without wasting a second headed straight to the testing room to shut off the chamber manually when one of the technicians told them that they couldn't turn off the machine. Jamey worked on trying to get the machine to shut down while AJ worked on getting the human test subject out of harm's way which he did successfully but something happened with the machine because the final chamber had closed the doors behind him trapping AJ inside. Jamey knew that she wasn't going to be able to shut down the machine in time so she tried to work on getting AJ out of the chamber before it blew. "Take cover!" Screamed General Vortex just before the chamber exploded sending out a massive energy pulse. This force flew Jamey across the lab through the safety glass and into the other room knocking her unconscious.
Two hours before the explosion.
Sydney Arron Vortex better known as Sid Vortex is described as a self driven, overachieving boy. As the son of General Sam Vortex, he presents himself with grace and majesty. He always tries to do his best, he has joined many clubs and is president for most of them which include; Student Council, Tae Kwon Do, and Physics. On the day his dad decided to break his promise to him Sid's life would change forever. "Mom, I'm home." Sid announced excitedly. "Hello dear, how was school?" Asked his mother Susan. "Great, is dad back yet?" Sid asked. "Unfortunately not dear, but you could help me prepare his welcome home dinner." Susan answered. "Sure!" Sid answered with much enthusiasm. After spending a few minutes helping his mom prepare for the dinner Sid waited excitedly, after an hour and a half had passed he decided to phone him. After the dial rings he asks him. "Dad, we're waiting for you, when are you coming home?" After not liking what he heard, he immediately threw the phone on the ground. "Dads not coming, I'm going to go for a run." Susan tried to comfort him. "Sid I'm sorry your father didn't show up."
"It doesn't matter, he's never around anyway." He replied before leaving the house. Sid liked to push himself when he worked out, he would wear custom weights on his arms and legs, because he was so frustrated with his father he went for a night run around the neighborhood by himself. When he was on a final lap around the neighborhood, Sid noticed the clear sky turn dark and cloudy, with hints of blue. He couldn't even grasp what was happening; he then saw the energy pulse. "What is that?" He thought to himself. He looked around to see if anybody was around, but the street was empty, there was no one in sight. As the pulse drew closer to him he ran from it, but before he could turn his head to see how close it was to him the pulse hit him knocking him forward, sending him flying through the air hitting the ground and knocking him out.
Two hours before the explosion.
Sheen Juarrera Estevez is a hyperactive, loud, flirtatious and easily distracted guy with a bit of an obsession with a fictional hero named Ultra Lord. He lives with his Father, Grandmother and four younger siblings. Since his father is the only one that works and he has all those mouths to feed, Sheen has taken it upon himself to help his family by taking morally questionable actions.
At the back of an ally, two young men are about to meet up. "Shawn, are you here?" whispered Sheen. "Ya, did you get the stuff we need?" Asked the tall muscular African American boy. "It's all here, for the job tonight." Sheen answered. Shawn looked at the contents of the bag. "Okay, go home and get dressed, we'll meet back here in an hour." After their conversation both went off in different directions to go and prepare. Sheen's house one hour twenty minutes before the explosion. Sheen entered his home in a very humble place, his siblings were playing all over while his grandmother was asleep on the couch. He went straight into his room to change. His room was filled with posters, action figures and videogames of the comic book hero Ultra Lord. As Sheen got dressed he looked at himself in the mirror and asked himself. "What are you doing Sheen?"
He then looked at a picture of his family and thought. "Remember you're doing this for your family." He finished getting ready and left his house. Thirty minutes before the explosion. Sheen and Shawn met again at the same alley. Shawn brought Sheen to the window of a building connected to the alley. "Okay Sheen this is simple, inside there are the new releases of The Ultralord video game. We can sell them for double the price early on the black market while keeping one or two for ourselves."
"Okay, simple." Sheen said nervously. They used their equipment to break into the building using a device of Sheen's design to shut off the motion sensors in an area. They began to plant all sorts of games into a duffle bag. "I think we have enough." Sheen commented. Shawn looked at another crate. "No, not yet." As he went to it, Sheen shouted. "No, not that one! You'll trip the motion sensors!" Sheen was too late, because Shawn caused the silent alarm to activate. Before they knew it the police had already arrived shooting tear gas through the windows. A few broke through the door. Shawn retaliated by taking out a flame thrower and started firing it at the police.
"Shawn what are you doing!" Screamed Sheen. "What I have to do!" Replied Shawn. And out of nowhere a cop shot at Shawns tank causing it to explode and him to be enveloped in fire. "Ahh! Sheen help me!" Screamed Shawn. Seeing the situation for what it was, Sheen ditched the bags, jumped out the window and abandoned Shawn. As he ran down the street for dear life Sheen saw a few cops pursuing him on foot. Sheen thought it was the end of him, then he saw the energy pulse approaching them from behind. He saw it envelop the cops knocking them out, and as he tried to out run it, going as fast as he could but it eventually caught up with him enveloping him as well.
Thirty minutes before the explosion.
Carlton Ulysses Wheezer, better known as Carl Wheezer is a nervous, cowardly, glutinous, pessimistic, wimpy, pathetic, insecure boy who has an unhealthy obsession with Llamas that could rival Sheen's obsession with Ultra Lord. He and his mom are practically allergic to everything, so it makes his interaction with people and things limited. Carl was walking down the hallway minding his own business, whistling a little tune to himself when the school bully Butch ran into him. "Sup Weener, got the cash?"
"Ahh… Yes Butch." Carl answered nervously. Carl handed Butch some money. "Is this all you got?" Carl never told Jamey about the cruel bullies that teased him because he never wanted her to worry about him, because he knew how overprotective she could get. It is nice to know that you have someone like that by your side, but he didn't want her to put her life on hold because he couldn't handle a couple of jerks. It took forever to convince her to graduate and go to college early all because she didn't want to leave Carl alone. Sometimes he did regret his decision to encourage her to go; moments like now. "Uhm… Yes." Carl answered even more nervously.
"Come with me." Butch ordered Carl as he dragged him into the boys bathroom. "Drink up, Weener!" Ordered Butch as he shoved Carl's head into a toilet. "Blurp!, Blurp!, Blurp!" Carl screamed, desperately trying to breathe. As Butch threw Carl to the floor he shouted. "Next time Weener bring more money." As he walked out the door. "You should count yourself lucky Weener, if it wasn't for me you would have no one to talk to." As he left Carl grabbed toilet paper and tried to wipe his face. "I really wish he would leave me alone." Carl walked himself home alone, because of his health problems many people didn't want to hang around him. A few people would try but he knew it was only an act. Before he went home he went to the local hangout The Candy Bar. "Hey Sam, give me a six pack of purple flurp." Carl asked the bartender and owner Sam. "Hey Carl, what's the occasion? Having friends over or your sister back?" Sam asked in a cheerful tone. "Nope." He answered as he paid for the drinks and left for his house. Carl liked to play a game with himself and beat that burp where he would see who could give the loudest and longest burp. Sadly he didn't have anyone to play with so he would play by himself trying to beat his best.
Carl entered his room, it was full of llama posters and toys ready to play by himself with Jamey away doing her government work. She didn't have the time to play his favorite game with him anymore, but before he started he looked out the window and thought to himself. "Man I wish I had friends or at the very least have the power to stop that jerk Butch." As he played the game by himself, Carl heard a large boom before he could wonder what it was: the pulse already hit his house, shattering the windows, knocking him into a wall.
Several hours Before the explosion.
Liberty Danielle Folfax, better known as Libby Folfax is an intelligent, stylish, sophisticated, calm, mellow and down to earth girl. She has a strong sense of family, and is very dependable. Her worst quality is she is a bit full of herself and cares way too much about her appearance. Libby heard her alarm clock go off, she groaned and hit the snooze button. She then began her morning beauty routine. She would work out and practice gymnastics for about an hour, bathe herself in water purified by special oils, spend an hour deciding what to wear, another hour on her hair and finally add a dab of her favorite vanishing cream to her face before getting ready for school. "Bye mom." She called, preparing to exit through the door. "Hold on! Young Lady!" Her mother ordered. "You're not going anywhere until you eat something."
"But mom!" Libby said, preparing to defend herself. "I won't hear any of it, you skipped dinner last night, now sit!" Her mother ordered. Libby obeyed as she nibbled her food, she then looked at her brother who was sitting across from her. "Where did you get that watch Shawn?" He grunted at her, giving her a snear before replying. "None of your business runt." But before Libby could say anything else to her brother their mother interjected. "None of that you two, no fighting!" Their mother told them both with a sigh. They both obeyed. Shawn told his mother. "That reminds me mom, I'm meeting up with a friend later so I might be late from school." Libby just rolled her eyes at this. "Okay but call if you are coming late." Their mother replied. Libby could hear the engine of the bus coming. "Well that's the school bus, I'm off." She dashed out the door. "But you've barely touched your food!" Her mother shouted. "Mm mm mm, what am I going to do with that child?" She said to herself. Two hours before the explosion, Libby was walking herself home from school with a group of friends talking about music, celebrities etc…
She saw her brother meeting up with a boy wearing an Ultralord shirt. "Ah guys, you go on ahead I'll catch up." After Libby left her friends she confronted her brother. "Shawn what are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself arrested?" Shawn screamed. "Look here runt you don't know what you are talking about!"
"I know whatever you're up to is definitely not legal." She shouted. "Just stay out of my business." Shawn shouted. "Your funeral." Libby said to herself. Thirty minutes before the explosion. When Libby got home she would do a similar routine to her morning one except no exercise, hair styling or outfit hunting. As she sat on her dresser applying more of her vanishing cream, wondering to herself. "I wonder if Shawn's okay?" Before she had any time to process these thoughts she saw a very bright flash followed by the pulse hitting her house.
Aftermath
Jamey got out of some rubble and heard a ringing in her ears. As her vision began to clear up, she saw the destruction that was left behind by the explosion. "What happened!?" Jamey said in a groaning voice. A soldier helped her. "The reactor went critical causing an explosion, mam." As one of the soldier's helped General Vortex he asked. "How many casualties were there?"
"It's unknown right now sir we are still looking for survivors." Responded the soldier. "What about Jones, Mark, Johnson and Stables, the test subjects?" Asked the general. The soldier looked at him with a saddened face. "Sir they are fine they got out in time, but there is one casualty." General Vortex clenched his fist in frustration and asked. "Jamey, how could this have happened?!" Jamey, still disoriented, but answered. "The cosmic radiation was too great for the chamber to contain." While speaking, Jamey's skin changed color to orange and her hair turned green, everyone began to stare. "What?" She asked, but she saw the color her hands had turned. Jamey then looked up and saw the destroyed chamber, ash, and some blood; too much blood. It was then she realized what the reason was for it causing her with tears in her eyes to shout. "NO!!!" She tried to get to the machine because she couldn't believe it was true. While that was happening the general got a phone call. "Hello, Susan, I can't talk right now because there has been an accident. What happened to Sid?!" On the other side of the base the rocky remains of Captain Saunders began to move. Jamey had gotten to the wreckage and found dismembered mangled limbs that were burned beyond recognition. She sank to her knees seeing there was nothing left of AJ. Jamey was so wrapped in her grief that she wasn't paying attention to the general's phone conversation.
Thirty minutes before the explosion.
It was a nice cool night in Retroville. All was well Judy Neutron-Wheezer and her wife Martha Neutron-Wheezer were driving home after watching the play Macbeth In Space. "Well that was a lovely play wasn't it Marth." Judy commented while driving. "It sure was Sugar Booger, those kids can definitely act, especially that Allison girl she stole the show." Martha replied happily. "And that Toby boy was also really good." Judy responded. As the Neutron-Wheezers made it to the drive way they were met by Jamey's robot dog Goddard. "Hey boy, how've you been?" Asked Martha as she exited the car. "Bark! Bark!" Goddard responded as he was petted by Martha. As Judy was exiting the car she saw her next door neighbor's son leave her house and go off running in the opposite direction. "I wonder where he is going?"
"Probably going to The Candy Bars to meet up with his friends." Marths answered. "Ya, you're probably right. Carl should be home soon." Judy replied. She, her wife, and Goddard all entered the house. The Neutron-Wheezers were going to have an early night, both had gotten dressed in their pajamas. Martha was going to watch a movie to tire herself out, Frankenstein's Monster while Judy was going to read the book Crooked House. Then out of nowhere Goddard came running in their room with a siren ringing on his back screaming danger, danger. "What's wrong boy?" Martha asked. Goddard opened up his chest plate, a computer screen appeared, and words appeared on the screen." Unknown energy pulse detected." Judy read. " What does that mean?" She asked.
Before Martha could answer Goddard quickly jumped in between them and created an energy barrier, seconds later the energy pulse came crashing against the house shattering windows, vases and glasses. "What was that?" Martha screamed. "We better go check if the neighbors are okay." Judy said, rushing out of the bed. The neighborhood was in shambles; light bulbs, windows, flower pots had all been shattered. Houses had cracks all over them, cars had flipped over and the street lights had fallen. "What happened here, an earthquake?" Martha asked. "No, I don't think so. It might have something to do with the unknown energy pulse Goddard detected." Judy responded. As more people got out of their houses wondering what happened, Judy screamed. Everyone who was out looked at her. "What's wrong with Sugar Booger?" Martha asked.
With a horrified face Judy pointed at an unconscious Sid who had blood dripping from his forehead. "My baby!" Screamed Susan Vortex as the crowd ran towards Sid. "Somebody call 911!" One of the neighbors screamed. People took out their phones to try and call but nobody could get a signal. "Damn it!" One of the neighbors shouted. "I'm not getting any signal." Said another. "What are we going to do if we can't call anyone?" Susan asked while holding Sid. "Doesn't Goddard have his own server, why don't we use him to call someone." Suggested Martha. "Martha, you're a genius." Judy replied. "I am, I mean yes I'm a genius." Responded Martha surprised. Judy whistled to call Goddard and he ran towards them. "Goddard, do you have a way to communicate with emergency services?"
Goddard barked to indicate yes and sent out a signal to alert emergency services. "Now take out Jamey's emergency phone and give it to Susan." Ordered Judy. Goddard went straight to Susan and opened up his back revealing a phone. Susan took it and called the general. "Hello, Sam something happened, this is important Sid's unconscious and bleeding." The phone cut. "Hello, hello. What happened?" Asked Susan. "Whatever that thing was that did this must have messed with Goddards' signal as well." Responded Judy. "What do we do now?" Asked one of the neighbors. "All we can do, wait." Responded Martha. "What about Carl? Is he ok?" Judy took her wife by the shoulders. "He is a tough boy and will be fine for the moment we can't run around with our heads cut off. He knews to head straight home or contact us when in trouble. And since he can't contact us he'll be home soon." Martha nodded at her wife, calming down when she saw their son walking up to them. "Carl are you ok?" Martha said, squeezing him. "Yeah mom I'm fine but what's going on?" Judy jumped in. "We are figuring that out, but for now stay in the house until we figure it out. Right now we need to make sure you are safe, ok sweety." Carl nodded at his moms and did as he was told. He really needed to be alone right now.
Back at the Military Base. "Hello, hello, ahgggg!" The general screamed in frustration. "Prepare a helicopter, I need to get to Retroville." Ordered the general. "We can't sir the helio pad and the copters have all been destroyed." Replied one of the soldiers. "Then how am I supposed to get to Retroville!?" Shouted the general. Jamey could barely hold herself together but she knew that she needed to because there was so much more going on around her. Once she heard how the general needed to get back to Retroville she knew that she also had to go back to check on her family. "I might have a way." Jamey answered, having calmed down.
"How?" Asked the general. "Come with me." Answered Jamey wiping the tears from her eyes. Jamey took the general to her lab. "What in your lab could possibly get me to Retroville?" Asked the general. "We hired you to genetically engineer soldiers, not build transport." While walking to one of her lab walls. " Well you see these last few years I've been skimming a bit off the top of the operating budget." Explained Jamey. "Jamey, are you telling me that you've been embezzling money?" Asked the general. "Yes, but after this you'll be glad I did." Jamey answers by pulling out a string of hair holding it up to a scanner. The general said frustrated. "Jamey, I don't have time for this."
"Wait for it." Jamey replied as the wall opened revealing a second lab. "How did you manage to hide this place?" Asked the general. "We don't have time for that, we have to get to retroville, let's take my hovercraft." Jamey answered. "Hovercraft?" Asked the general in confusion. "Yes, a hovercraft." Jamey answered, revealing her hovercraft. "It should only take us a few minutes to get there." She continued. Jamey and the general got in the hovercraft and flew off. As they were flying the general took a good long look at Jamey, seeing what her hyberous had created. "Listen Jamey, I'm sorry about what happened." Not wanting to show her anger Jamey buried it for now because there were bigger things to be concerned about other than her being right.
"Don't worry about it. As far as I can tell I'm alright for now, we have bigger things to worry about." Jamey responded. The general remained quiet and they continued their trip. The general and Jamey entered retroville to find it in shambles. "What happened here?" Asked the general. "We happened." Jamey answered when she turned back to see what was in front of her she could hear the general muttering to himself how they would need a fall guy and how AJ would be perfect since no one could question someone who was dead. She couldn't believe that he was going to do that. Jamey and the general finally made it to the crowd of people on their street. Jamey's parents walked up to them only to be shocked by Jamey's new look. Martha commented. "Jamesy your orange." She sniffed her. "And mmmmh smell fruity."
"What happened?" Judy asked in a serious voice. "Mom we don't have time for that, put Sid in the hovercraft." Ordered Jamey. Judy did as her daughter asked and helped put Sid in the hovercraft. "Anyone who wants to come, get on board." Jamey ordered. The general, Judy, Martha, Susan and Goddard jumped into the craft and flew away. "Is he going to be okay Jamey?" Asked Susan. "I'm not sure." Jamey answered. "Goddard sends a biometric scan of everyone to the lab." Goddard did just that and scanned everyone. "Jamey, why are you scanning everyone?" Judy asked. With a pained look on her face Jamey answered. "What caused all this to happen was my invention. The Neutron Chamber exploding." Everyone looked at Jamey stunned.
"You caused this!?" Susan angrily asked. "Actually..." The general tried to explain. "Yes, it was my fault, I caused the accident." Interrupted Jamey. The general gave Jamey a look but continued to stay quiet. "Jamey, how could you let this happen!?" Asked Judy. "I ordered the tests to commence today, without regard to any risk, I was so close to my dream I was willing to let anything happen." Jamey answered. "I thought we taught you to always triple check your work to think of every contingency for whatever you're doing, for the first time in my life Jamey I'm disappointed in you." Judy lectured. "I'm sorry mom. Is Carl ok?" Jamey replied with a saddened voice. Martha wanted to say something but decided to stay quiet and nod yes. Susan stared at her viciously. "You better hope you can help my son Jamey, because if you can't..."
"Susan! That's enough of that for now." The general interrupted. Everyone remained quiet until they made it back to the base. They landed in Jamey's lab. "Quickly get him on the table!" Jamey ordered. Jamey went to a door opening it. " Introducing the Neutron Regenerating Pod, if we put Sid in it he should heal almost instantly." Susan did not want to risk any further damage towards her son with this strange machine in this strange lab that just blew up with an underage scientist at the helm. Fair to say she was a little concerned. "Are you sure this one won't explode?" Susan asked. "Susan, right now we don't have any other options." The general commented. With a hesitant look she agreed. "Alright, fine." Martha and the general helped put Sid in the pod. "Alright let's get started." Jamey announced. "Searching for entry wounds." The scanners activated. "This doesn't make any sense."
"What doesn't make any sense?" Susan asked worryingly. "There is no entry wound, as far as I can tell he's in perfect health." Jamey answered, then went and opened up the pod to check Sid's head. "See there's nothing." She continued. "How is it possible that his head was bleeding out ten minutes ago?" The general questioned. Jamey looked up at Goddard. "Goddard presented me with the results of the biometric scan." Goddard ran up to Jamey and in a fax like motion gave him a paper with the results. "Hmmmm, I see." Jamey said to herself. "What Jamey! What is it!" The general asked. "It seems that you and Mr Vortex have been splashed with Cosmic radiation, my parents are completely clean and Sid and I, our cells have been completely saturated in it." Jamey answered. "What does that mean, are we going to get cancer?" Asked Susan. "No, just like with cell phones and TV's a little radiation is in our bodies that what happened to you two. Sid and I however it seems our cells have absorbed the radiation causing us to change." Jamey answered. "What do you mean change?" Asked Susan. "Captain Saunders turned into a pile of rocks, my skin changed to orange. Just like the two of us Sid is going through her own Metamorphosis." Answered Jamey.
"What will happen to him?" The general asked. "Right now I'm not sure, but you guys go somewhere and rest, I'll update you in the morning." Jamey answered. "Jamey is right. You go take them to a place where they can rest." The general ordered a soldier. "Yes sir." The soldier answered,standing at the door. The soldier took Judy, Martha, and Susan away. "Jamey I have to ask why did you take the blame for this? It could ruin your career." Asked the general. "I don't care. I heard you." Answered Jamey. General Vortex only looked at her confused until she elaborated. "I heard that you were originally going to blame AJ since he is no longer with us to defend himself. There was no way in hell I was going to let you ruin the reputation, career, or name of a brilliant mind, kind hearted, caring soul like AJ. I will not let you turn him into a periya where people will only remember him for this and say that he deserved what he got, because you know that is exactly what will happen." Jamey was beyond angry with the general who could only look at her, but she could only look at Goddard. "You deserve to have the blame on you since it is all your fault, but I know you would never take the blame. So if you are going to throw someone under the bus for this then you blame me not AJ. At least I can defend myself and salvage my career." With that Jamey was about to walk away with tears in her eyes when the general stopped her.
Thinking about it the general said. "Thank you Jamey, I promise I'll make it up to you." Before leaving. The next morning Susan, Martha, Judy, and General Vortex all came to Jamey's lab when they woke up. "Jamey, what can you tell us? '' Asked the general. Jamey said nothing, then pulled out a gun. "Jamey, what are you doing!?" Screamed Judy. Jamey still said nothing, then pointed the gun at Sid's body. "Somebody stop her!" Susan shouted. Before anyone could get to her Jamey fired the gun at Sid's body, only for the bullet to bounce off of him. Everyone looked in shock." What just happened!?" Screamed the general. "Congratulations General Vortex, your son has superpowers." Jamey announced in a monotone voice. "What!?" Everyone said in unison. Jamey looked at them and answered. "The cosmic radiation in his cells has mutated him, giving him a dense molecular structure." Everyone still looked confused. Jamey saw the confused look on their faces and continued. "It basically means he's bullet proof now."
"Ooohhhh.'' They all said collectively. "Does that mean he'll be okay?" Susan asked. "Yes in fact he'll be better than okay, it will just take a few days for him to wake up." Jamey answered. "Thank god!" Susan said in relief. Before any of them could celebrate, a soldier rushed in. "Sir we have a problem, the media is outside and they are asking questions." The general went straight to the gate to address the media. The entrance of the gate was filled with reporters asking various questions. Everything went quiet as soon as the general walked up. He pointed to one of the reporters who asked. "General Sam Vortex there was an explosion here last night. What happened?" The general responded. "An experimental military device malfunctioned last night we are investigating what happened and will deal with it accordingly.'' He then walked away as the reporters continued to ask questions. He went to his wife and the Neutron-Wheezers. "You guys better go home now it's going to be hectic here, I'll update you on Sid if anything happens."
"Fine." Susan agreed as she and the neutrons left in the hovercraft. The general looked at Jamey. "Jamey, what's going to happen next?" She took a deep breath before turning to him. "Honestly, for the first time in my entire life, I don't know." Jamey answered. On the other side of the base the rocky remains of Captain Saunders began to move again this time forming a hand on his side. One week later. Sid was lying on a medical bed surrounded by military doctors, with a multitude of cords connected to her. He opened his eyes and suddenly woke up. " Where am I!?" He shouted "He's awake." Shouted one of the doctors. "Somebody alert the general and Miss Neutron." Said another.
One of the doctors went to Sid. "Mr Vortex, we need you to calm down and get back into bed." Grabbing his wrist. "Hey let go of me!" Sid shouted. He threw the doctor across the room. "How did I do that?" He said to himself. He ripped off the cords and ran out of the room. He continued to run down the hall, he saw two guards, and continued running, he collided with them and tossed aside like ragdolls. More soldiers came and they were able to corner him, some tried to hold him down but they failed as they were too thrown to the walls. An alarm sounded off, and the doors in the hallway began to close. Sid began to pick up on speed and made it through all them before they closed. "What's happening to me?" Sid asked himself. He continued until he was at the hanger. When he saw that the exit was closed, he stood still until more soldiers came with guns. "Mr Vortex, you need to come with us." Said one of the soldiers. "Like hell I am." Sid replied. One of the soldiers who feared for his life shot at Sid. Everything slowed down around him, he could see everything in slow motion and as the bullet approached him, he caught it and dropped it right in front of the soldiers with an angry expression on his face. "What have you done!?" Aaid another soldier. Sid supersped right threw them tossing them aside. Realizing what he could do, Sid went straight through the metal doors leaving small holes in his wake, he eventually made it back to the medical room from which he started all of this. "There must be something here that can tell me what these guys did to me." Sid said to himself.
Jamey walked in and immediately held up her hands trying to calm the super powered boy down. "Sid I'm going to need to calm down." Sid rushed at her with his superspeed, and slammed her to the wall. "Tell me who you are, Orangey." Demanded Sid. "You already know who I am, Jamey Neutron." Answered Jamey with a scared look on her face. "No games." Sid ordered as he began to squeeze her neck. Struggling to breath Jamey answered. "We were in kindergarten together, you used to call me Nerdtron." Sid let go of her when he realized who she was. Trying to catch her breath, rubbing her hands around her neck struggling to take a breath Jamey said. "Now that we have that out of the way, follow me." Sid followed her through the hallway. As they walked down the hallway Sid asked. "Okay Nerdtron, tell me where am I, how can I do all this crazy stuff and why do you look like you got a really bad spray tan." Jamey answered. "We're in the military base in the desert, and the reason I look like this and how you have abilities is because my invention The Neutron Chamber exploded, sending out an energy wave filled with cosmic radiation."
"I'm guessing somehow the radiation mutated you and me." Sid continued. "Correct, you're much smarter than you look." Jamey said smugly, but quickly went back to her almost numb looking demeanor. "Ya and apparently you aren't as smart as you claim." Sid retorted. Jamey glared at Sid before moving forward. They entered a room where General Vortex was in. "Sid are you alright?" He asked. "Ya I'm fine." He answered with an angry look on his face. "I'm glad." He replied. He walked up to him. "So this is what it took for me to finally see you." General Vortex never wanted to make his son feel as though he could only rely on him if there was a dire emergency.
"No Sid it's not like that." The general tried to explain. "Well I think it is, because I bet if you had just come home when you had promised I wouldn't be a freak right now." He argued. He looked at him. "You're not a freak, you're my son." Sid did not believe his father who was trying to comfort him. "Ya right." He replied. Jamey interrupted them before the argument could further intensify. "Look Sid what's happened has happened, right now your body is going through changes I don't understand, we need to run tests now before you hurt someone." Sid gave her a hostile look. "Okay fine, but if you ever talk to me like that again Nerdtron, I'll beat you into the ground."
"Gee and you wonder why you're single." Jamey replied. "How do you know I'm single?" Asked Sid. "Just an assumption. Is it a right one?" Jamey teased. Sid kept quiet and walked out. "You have quite the way with men, don't you Jamey." The general commented as he walked out. "It's a part of my charm." Jamey retorted sarcastically in a bitter tone as she followed. Jamey, Sid, and the general all entered her secret lab where they were greeted by Goddard. "Hey boy, did you miss me." Jamey called as Goddard jumped on her. For the first time that week she actually smiled. "Not trying to disturb this beautiful moment between a girl and her robot dog, but didn't we come here for a reason." Sid commented. Putting Goddard back on the floor Jamey replied. "Okay fine, Goddard prepared the weight and the treadmill." When the metal dog went off to do as his master asked the general turn to Jamey with a questioning look. "What are those?" Asked the general. "You'll see." Jamey answered. On the other side of the base the rocky remains of Captain Saunders began to form arms and legs.
Captain Nathanel Sauders was a tall African American astronaut. He and his team were on a mission to repair the outer shell of the U.S space station that had been hit by a meteorite. Four years ago in space, Captain Saunders and one of his fellow crew members left the ship to commence repairs. "Captain Saunders, are you alright over there?" Asked the crew member. "I'm fine. Just watch my back okay." He answered. "Yes sir." The crew member replied. "No need to be so serious." Commented the captain. "Ahh, yes sir." He answered. After a few minutes the crew members that were still on the shuttle radioed to them. " Captain, we've got incoming, unknown projectles." Captain Sanders took a good look at the projectles and realized what they were." Those aren't unknown projectiles, they're meteors! Move it!" He screamed to his crew members. Both desperately tried to get to the ship trying to avoid the meteors, they were almost successful, but Captain Saunders saw one was about to hit the crew member, he deparearely rushed to him pushing him out of the way. The meteorite hit his helmet, cracking it. Unknown to the captain, micro fragments from the meteor had breached his suit entering his body. "Captain!" The crew member shouted. Going back for him, the astronaut got Captain Saunders back into the ship safely.
Four days later.
Captain Saunders and his team made it to the base safely, where they were met by General Vortex. "Heard you took a rock to the head." The general commented. "Are you okay?" Feeling a little disoriented, Saunders was finally able to look at the general. "Ya, but I'm a little tired." The captain happily responded. "You three head inside for debriefing, and Captain Saunders you head inside to the medical ward." Commanded the general. "General with all due respect, I told my wife I would call her first thing when I got home." The captain replied. "Nathanel you've gone through something traumatic and you could be suffering from an injury, go to the medics right now, that's an order!" The general ordered. "You'll have plenty of time to talk to Lilly later."
"Yes sir." The captain agreed begrudgingly. Captain Saunders went to the medical ward where the doctors there did multiple physical and psychological tests on him. "Captain, I can say for certain that you are in perfect health." Said one of the doctors. "Great. Can you clear me then?" Asked the captain. "Not exactly your running a bit of a temperature." Said the doctor. "We would like you to stay overnight for observations." With reluctance, Saudners agreed to the doctor's orders. "Okay fine, can I at least call my wife." Asked the captain. "Of course Captain Saunders." The doctor answered, handing the captain his phone. Captain Saunders dialed the number. The phone conversation began.
Nathaniel: Hello.
Lilly: Hello.
Nathaniel: Hey sweety.
Lilly: Nate is that you?
Nathaniel: Ya it's me.
Lilly: Are you okay? I heard you were in an accident.
Nathanel: Don't worry I'm okay, they're just keeping me in for observation, I'm sure I'll be discharged tomorrow.
Lilly: Are you sure?
Nathanel: I'm sure, talk to you tomorrow. Love you.
Lilly: Love you more.
The phone conversation ended. The captain gave the doctor back his phone and proceeded to go to sleep. A few hours later Captain Saunders woke up in the middle of the night, he went to the bathroom to do his business, when he was washing his hands he looked up at the mirror and saw a chunk of rock growing from his face. "Ahh!" The captain screamed. Before he knew it, it began to spread all over his body, along his arms, pieces on his face and a large lump on his back. "Somebody help me!" Screamed the captain. The doctors rushed in to find the mutating Captain Saunders. "What the...'' Said one of the doctors. As he continued to mutate further he screamed in pain. "Somebody do something!" screamed one of the doctors. "Like what!?" Asked another. Before anyone could do anything Captain Saunders was completely engulfed in the rocks. A short time passed before the general rushed in and asked. "What happened!?"
"We're not sure sir." Answered one of the doctors. "Then get me someone who is sure!" Ordered the general. After getting more scientists and hours more of tests. someone finally gave the general an answer. " It seems sir that Captain Saunders has mutated into that thing over there." The general gave the scientist a very angry look and screamed. "Do I look like I'm blind, I can clearly see that, I want to know how this could have happened!" With an intimidated look the scientist said. "Sir from his tests, we found microscopic fragments of unknown material."
"Where could they have come from?" Asked the general. "Our best guess sir is the meteorite that hit his helmet." Answered the scientist. The general called multiple soldiers into his office among them were the captain's crew members. "There's been an accident involving Captain Saunders, nobody here will say anything on this matter to anybody." Ordered the general. "Even his wife sir?" Asked one of the captain's crew members. "Yes." The general answered.
Three years ago
Jamey's moms had just left her with the general. "Okay Jamey, where do you want to start off first?" Asked the general. "I would like to examine the pile of rocks." Answered Jamey. "Jamey, that pile of rocks has a name." Replied the general. "Okay fine, Captain Saunders." Jamey replied sarcastically. Jamey ran multiple tests on Captain Saunders. "Jamey, what can you tell us that we don't already know?" Asked the general. "That this pile of rocks has a heartbeat and brain waves." Answered Jamey. "How do you know that?" Asked the general. "Our previous tests showed nothing." Smugly Jamey looked at the general and answered. "I have my ways. So what do you want me to do first, try to fix this guy or go ahead with the super soldier thing?"
"Your job, Jamey, is to make me super soldiers. We will worry about the captain later." Answered the general. "Okay if that's what you want." Jamey replied; on the side Jamey would try to fix this man. Present day, the general asked. "What are those?" Jamey answered with a smirk. "You'll see." Jamey walked the general and Sid into another sector of her lab. "Seriously Jamey, how on earth did you hide this place from me?" Asked the general. Jamey answered. "Memory wiper." This stopped General Vortex dead in his tracks causing him to slowly turn to Neutron. "Did you just say memory wiper?" Asked the general in a hesitant tone. "Who said anything about a memory wiper?" Jamey replied playfully as if she was tanting him. She was still angery at the man before her. Jamey led them into a room where Goddard was standing next to two machines. "So I'm guessing those are the machines you were talking about earlier." Commented Sid. "Yup." Answered Jamey. She then went in front of them and announced "Introducing the neutron gravity weights and the neutron super treadmill."
"Enough with the announcements Nerdtron, get on with it!" Sid interrupted. "Fine, the neutron gravity weights are two simple ten pound dumbbells with gravity manipulators on their sides." Jamey continued. "And what does that mean?" Asked the general. "Basically I make them heavier by increasing their weight." Answered Jamey. She went to Sid. "I want to test how strong you are, pick up the dumbbells." Ordered Jamey. Sid picked up both, Jamey went to the control pad that was in the room." Increasing weight to one ton." Sid seemed to be having no trouble lifting it. "Is that all you got Nerdtron!" Jamey looked at him with an empty smug look. "Okay fine." She activated the switch, increasing it to five tonnes. Sid still seemed to have no problem. He looked at her. "Come on Nerdtron, at least make it a challenge."
Jamey is getting a little irritated and has increased the weight to fifty tonnes. Sid seemed to be having a little trouble lifting it but ultimately triumphed. "You seriously need to do better." Jamey, now completely enraged, gave a devilish gleam in her eyes and increased the weight to one hundred tonnes. Sid was struggling; it didn't look like he was going to be able to handle it. He then closed his eyes and let out a powerful scream throwing the dumbbells through the ceiling. Jamey and the general had a very shocked look and both said. "Wow!" Sid said while panting. "Is that... the best...you can...do!" The general said. "Okay that's enough with the dumbbells." Jamey looked at the man with an amused look. "Fine, time for test two." Jamey announced as she walked to the treadmill looking at the device, and said. "This treadmill doesn't work like a normal treadmill does, instead of you moving to the speed of the band the band moves to the speed of you testing your top speed." Sid got on the treadmill and began to run. He was moving so fast that he appeared to be a blur to Jamey and the general. "Wow!" Said the general, he then looked at Jamey and asked. "How fast is he moving?" Looking at her notes Jamey answered. "According to my instruments, about five hundred miles per hour." The general looked at Jamey. "It's funny." Said laughing a bit. "What's funny?" Jamey asked. The general replied. "Right now Sid is everything I could have wanted in a super soldier, he's strong, fast and because you shot him we know he's bullet proof..."
Sid immediately stopped running. " You shot me!" Looking at her with a very annoyed glare. "Uhmm, Yes I did but in my defense I knew it wouldn't have killed you." She replied worryingly. Sid gave her an angry, annoyed look. On the other side of base, the rocky remains of Captain Saunders formed arms and legs, he began to get up and with each step he took, he began to take a more humanoid form.
First he looked like a four legged animal, he then became like a spiker version of The Thing, he then began to look like the regular Thing and his final form looked exactly like his human form except his skin was now a stoney grey color and his eyes had no pupils. He looked at his hands and screamed. "I can see again, I can move again, after all this time, I'm finally free!" Saunders could hear that someone was coming so he hid. A soldier arrived on a routine patrol, Saunders attacked him grabbing him by his neck and asked him. "Tell me, what year is it?" The soldier who was struggling to breath answered him. "2017!" Saunders looked at the soldier with pure rage and snapped his neck. He threw the corpse of a soldier on the ground and angrily screamed. "Vortex!" Walking out of the lab and making their way into the hanger Sid and Jamey continued their conversation being followed by the general. "So you shot me!" Screamed Sid. "Don't be so bothered by it. I was ninety five percent sure you weren't going to die." Jamey explained. He looked at her. "That still doesn't mean you can..."
"General Vortex!" Saunders screamed, interrupting Sid. "Nathaniel!?" The general replied, looking at his new rocky exterior. The room dropped into a dead silence every soldier in the area pulled out their guns. "Hold your fire!" Commanded the general. The soldiers all stood ready to fire, Sid and Jamey hid behind a jeep to access the situation. "General Vortex! It's so good to see you again!" Saunders shouted, walking slowly towards the general. The general moved closer to him. "Nathaniel, it's good to see you..." Saunder interrupted angrily. "Alive!" The general tried to explain. "That's not what I meant. I had every intention to..."
"What! Cure me! We both know you had no intention of doing that!" Interrupted Saunders again. The general continued to walk forward. "Listen Nathanel, you've got to calm down." Saunders snapped his head towards General Vortex. "Calm down! Calm down! I was trapped as a damn rock for four years! The only thing I was able to do was hear! And I know for a fact you never put me as a priority!" He replied. The general was about to speak when Saunders interrupted. "Enough lies Vortex! Prepare to die!" He lunged forward at the general and the soldiers in the area fired their guns. He showed little discomfort from the bullets. He shouted. "If you want to fight let's fight!" Spikes began to form around his body and he fired them at multiple targets killing all the soldiers that were shooting. Somehow the general managed to evade the spikes from hitting him. Saunders looked surprised by what he just did then gave a sadistic smile. "Oh my God!" Jamey screamed hyperventilating. Sid stood up. "I've got to do something!"
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Jamey asked. "Jamey, you just saw what happened, nobody but me can stop him." Sid answers. Saunders walked up to the general ready to strike, he clenched his fist and it transformed into a mace. He raised his arm to crush the general and swing forward. Sid rushed towards them and caught his mace hand. "I don't think so bub." Saunders looked at him. "Why you little..." Before he could finish he threw him through a wall. He went towards the wall, all seemed okay until he was struck by multiple spiked rocks that the captain was shooting. They made him begin to retreat backwards. He then ran towards him with his hands shaped like hammers and struck him repeatedly before sending him flying into a jeep, knocking Sid out. Captain Saunders then picked up the general. "Its getting abit noisy here, let's talk outside.'' Before he could leave Jamey stood behind them, shaking, holding a gun. The Captain looked back at her. "You tried to help me so I'll spare you for now, you could be useful to me in the future, but if you choose to attack I can't be held responsible for what I do." Jamey looked at him like a frightened child and dropped the gun. The Captain then began to walk away. Jamey ran straight to Sid trying to wake him up. Captain Saunders carried the general to a small cave in the middle of the desert. When they entered it he threw the general to the ground. "Why didn't you just kill me." Asked the general. "As much as I'd hate to admit it, your son was right to stop me, I was angry and irrational, I still need you to answer some questions for me." Answered the captain. Looking at him with a serious look, the general asked. "What do you want to know?" Saunders grabbed him and asked. "The only thing I want to know right now is, what happened to Lilly?" With a saddened look on his face he answered. "I'm sorry Nathanel, Lilly commited suicide two years ago." Captain Saunders immediately dropped the Captain and asked. "How the hell did this happen!?"
"After your accident we had told her that you had died from radiation poisoning, she did not take it too well, we tried to support her but it was all for nothing, she overdosed on pills." Explained the general. Saunders hit the walls in anger, then he looked at the general and screamed. "This is all your fault!" His hand began to turn into a mace. "I will make you suffer!" Before he could kill the general he had a realization. "Wait a minute, killing you now, that would be too easy. Before I kill you I will rip out your heart, and we both know who your heart belongs to." Knowing what he meant the general pleaded. "Nathaniel please!" Saunders walked up to him. "Don't call me that ever again, Nathanel Saunders died with Lily. From this day forth I am nothing but Stone!" He picked up the general and went through his clothes taking out his phone.
Back at the base.
"Sid! Sid! please wake up." Jamey pleaded as she shook Sid's unconscious body. "Ahh, what happened?" Sid groaned as he woke up. "That rock guy knocked you out and took your dad." Jamey answered. "What! We have to go save him!" Screamed Sid as he got up. Jamey looked at him and explained. "Right now that's impossible Sid, this base is in no condition for a search and rescue, all of our vehicles are out of order, the systems have been fried so we can't even attempt basic communication. The only things that are working are the guns and cell phones. '' Sid was quickly losing his patients. "Isn't there anything in your lab that can help us." Asked Sid. Jamey shook her head to answer no when her phone rang in her pocket. The phone conversation began.
Jamey: Hello.
Stone: Put the boy on the phone.
Knowing who it was, Jamey handed the phone to Sid telling him it was the captain.
Sid: Is my dad still alive?
Stone: Straight to the point I like that. No I haven't killed your dad. Yet. If you want him to come get him I'll text you the location.
The phone conversation ended. Receiving the text message Sid was preparing to run off, but Jamey stopped. "Sid if you go out there without a plan he will kill you!" Sid looked at her and replied. "We'll see." Jamey walked in front of me taking a very serious tone. "Don't be stupid! Reckless stunts like that are what got your father in this situation. If you want to really help him, you need a plan."
"Okay what's the plan?" Asked Sid. "He seems to be as strong and durable as you but not as fast, if you attack him with a speed strike combined with your super strength the combined force should be enough to at least knock him down for a while." Answered Jamey. "So basically the plan is to hit him hard." Sid commented jokingly. "Ya basically." Jamey replied. Sid ran out of the base with his superspeed and made his way to Stone. Stone was standing at the front of the cave waiting for Sud. The general was on the ground and pleaded with him. "Please Nathanel..." Stone looked back at him and said. "If you speak to me again I swear I'll break your leg." The general tried to speak again but Stone fired a spiked rock through his leg and the general screamed in pain. Stone commented. "I did warn you." Seconds later Sid ran in. "Mr Vortex, It's good to see you again." He shouted with a smug attitude. Sid kept quiet. "You're right the time for talk is over!" He screamed with a sadistic voice. Sid hit Stone with a speed strike that sent him back. He went in to do it again, Stone tried to dodge, but was hit again. He did it a third time and successfully hit him again. Sid goes in to finish Stone with a roundhouse kick, but Stone turns his body into sand and successfully dodges it. He reappeared behind Sid and slammed him into the ground with an enlarged hand, hurting him. Stone fired his spiked rock, Sid successfully dodged them all with his speed. Sid began to pant and sweat showing signs he was getting tired. Stone looked at him and shouted. "Looks like you haven't built up the stamina to use those powers properly, I was trapped in this body for years so you could say I've become accustomed to it." Sid looked back at him and shouted. "Is this really what you want!?" Stone's face changed from smug to angry and screamed. "Your father's selfishness and lies cost me the love of my life and I am going to make him pay for it!" Sid's face also became more angry, he screamed. "And what about the people you killed! Do they just not count!" His face began to look a bit guilty but it changed back to anger. "All of this could have been avoided if your father didn't try to play God!"
"What do you mean?" Asked Sid. "Your father ordered the machine that created you and ordered it to activate." He answered. "That's not true, it was Jamey!" He explained. Getting his smile back he replied. "Please that orange girl is many things arrogant, egotistical, and just plain annoying, I got that from hearing her for a few minutes, but one thing she isn't is reckless. She doesn't have the spine to do something like that. Besides, she lost more during that accident than you even know."
"You're lying!" He shouted but Sid was also confused by the second part of Stone's statement; what did he mean that Jamey lost more? What did she lose? Her reputation? "You can ask her if you live through this." Replied Stone. Stone extended his arms to attack Sid, but he leaped out of the way to dodge them. Stone curved them and grabbed his legs, throwing him into the ground, he quickly rebounded and punched him really hard on the chest and sent him flying. While the fight was happening the general tried to crawl his way out of the cave. Sid used another speed strike, and overpowered Stone. He did another round house kick, Stone countered it with a hammer hand, the two strikes collided with each other and created a shockwave. Both sides flew away hitting the ground, Stone immediately got up while Sid was struggling.
He thought to himself. "Nothing's working, I'm using the speed strikes just like Jamey said." He began to get up. "Maybe I haven't picked up enough speed." He then proceeded to run away. "Looks like your son's split. Guess he doesn't love you as much as I thought." Stone grouted walking towards the general. Sid continued to run into the desert and turned heading straight back for Stone. Stone looked at the dust cloud heading in his direction before he had time to react Sid rambed straight into him shattering his arms and legs. "Ahhh!" He screamed as he hit the ground. Sid collapsed in exhaustion. "Wow!" Stone said panting. "You really are something special guy!" Sid got up. "I'm taking you in." Stone smiled and replied. "I don't think so." A spike extended from his chest and he shot the general in the shoulder. "Aghhh!" the general screamed. Stone looked up to him. "You have two choices, your father currently has two puncture wounds in his body you can either take me in or take him for treatment before he bleeds to death." Sid gave him an angry look. "This isn't over!" He picked up his father and ran off. "It sure isn't, '' Stone replied. At the military base the general got out of the regeneration pod. "Are you okay?" Sid asked. "Ya, I'm fine." The general answered. "Told you it would work." Glouted Jamey. They both looked at her. "Okay fine, father son moment, I'll be outside." Jamey commented as she left the Lab. "What happened to Saunders?" Asked the general checking his son over for any visible injnuries. "After I brought you here they sent some men after him, but there was no trace of him." Answered Sid. He then looked at his father and asked. "Is it true?"
"Is that true?" Asked the general looking at Sid confused. "Is it your fault that that chamber thing exploded?" He replied. He looked at his son seriously and answered. "Of course not, it was a miscalculation on Jamey's part." He looked at him suspiciously and replied. "Okay that's what I thought. That rock guy must've been crazy." Jamey walked in with dread drenched in her voice. "Ahh guys I just had a thought. What if Sid and Captain Saunders weren't the only ones infected!?" Both the general and Sid looked at each other. "There's nothing anyone could do to stop these mutants." Commented the general. "I could." Sid pointed out walking up to Jamey. The general then looked at Sid and asked. "Are you sure about this? Saunders was dangerous. What if someone more powerful comes along?" He looked at his dad and answered. "Dad right now there are no other options." He gave a great big sigh. "Fine!"
"If he's going to be a superhero, he's going to need a codename." Jamey commented. "Any thoughts?" Asked the general. "I was thinking of Special Guy." Responded Sid. "Why Special Guy?" Asked Jamey looking at him with a little smirk; amused. "Well it's something the ex captain told me." He answered proudly. "Ok Special Guy it is then. Now we just need to figure out who all out there was affected by the accident the way that you were." Jamey replied. Sid just gave her a smile ready to start this new adventure and learn more about what happened that night he got his powers. "Alright let's get to work."
