Chapter One: End and Beginning
"ALL FOR ONE!" All Might yelled as he rushed toward the Villain watching the destruction down below. All for One turned and blocked All Might's punch with little effort, "Ahh, if it isn't Nana's successor. You are too late to stop me, this whole city will be lost and the peoples hope DIES WITH YOU!"
All for One's right arm grew to an insane size as he threw a punch at All Might destroying the city block behind him in a single blow, All might sent his own series of haymakers straight back as he recovered from the back blast of All for One's attack.
All Might's barrage sent AFO Flying down to the street below, the ground cracked and caved in where AFO crashed into the floor kicking up a massive dust cloud on impact. All Might jumped down into the cloud to deliver what he hoped was a winning blow to put his long time enemy down for good, All Might landed on the ground next to AFO landing a devastating punch to the side of his head. All For One was send back into the ground with enough force that he bounced away down the street toward what was once an apartment block. All Might gave chase but AFO had already recovered and was getting to his feet again, All For One punched in All Might's direction and a massive blast of wind tore what remained of the street to ribbons and sent All Might flying back.
"2 Kinetic amplifiers and Air Cannon, a very good combo when it comes to matching you All Might" All For One drawled as he dashed after All Might. "But this might be even better, Strength booster and.." AFO threw a punch to All Might's stomach as he caught up to him, tearing his stomach out and throwing blood in a wide arc to his left "Knuckle Blades" All For One finished as he sent All Might flying even further down the long stretch of pavement they were fighting on.
All Might let out a pained gasp as he landed, AFO had hit him good. As he looked down at himself to assess the damage All Might was shocked to see a hole in his lower abdomen, his guts starting to hang out as blood poured from the open wound. "Well shit" All Might muttered as he looked up at AFO. The sight of all for one staring at a younger woman was enough to turn All Might's blood to ice, he pushed himself up and tried to dash between AFO and the woman with a cats tail who was bristling with fear as she stared up at the hand moving to grab her by the neck.
All for One was about to grab the woman when a young man dashed out from some rubble to shove the woman out the way. "RUN MA!" he yelled as he dodged AFO's right hand trying to grab him, the kid's feline ears were trained on AFO, his tail swishing behind him as his sharp green feline eyes locked with AFO's.
All for One moved faster than the kid could hope to react and grabbed him by the back of the neck with his left hand from behind, his right arm curling around to the kids throat.
"What do you think All Might, the kid or the mother? Who should I KILL? Don't bother trying to get up, you'll be unable to fight me in that state anyway"
All Might froze, his blood running cold at the casual way that AFO asked him to decide who lived and died. "I... I can't d... you can't make me do that!" All might spluttered out in panic, fearing for the lives of the two civilians. "This fight is between you and me, Don't you DARE BRING THEM INTO THIS! ALL FOR ONE!" All Might screamed as he got back to his feet. The teen held in AFO's grasp was... Smiling at him, his sharp green eyes trained on All Might. The kids dark brown hair was clumped and messy, coated in dust and blood and his body way covered in scratches and bruises but still. Against all that was going on the kid was smiling at him.
"All... Might... Save her. Save my... Ma.." the young man choked out, struggling to breathe in AFO's iron grip. All for One gave a sadistic grin. "That voice really annoys me" he said as he casually cut the kids voice box from his throat with a blade extending from his index finger. "There... much better, but we can't play on even terms with this little vermin in my grasp now can we?" All Might rushed AFO as fast as he could, pure fury pushing him beyond all his limits.
AFO snapped the kid's neck and threw him aside, his limp body hitting the ground with a wet splat in a destroyed apartment building off to the side. AFO stood facing his opponent, readying himself to finish All Might off.
Out of a nearly collapsed alleyway shot Gran-Torino, shooting full speed towards the Woman who was on the ground screaming at the death of her son. Gran-Torino grabbed her and bolted as fast as he possibly could, knowing just what All Might would do to the villain that dared to kill a child in front of him.
All Might phased behind AFO with blistering speed, All For One twisted to punch but struck thin air. All Might was behind him, again. Toshinori Yagi, the man the world knew as All Might, was filled with an unbridled Fury as he put his heart, soul and all his muscle into one final attack aimed to end All for One's life.
"UNITED STATES OF. SMAAAAAAAAAASH!" All Might screamed at the top of his lungs as he caved AFO's chest in just below his collarbone, slamming the Villain into the ground and ending him once and for all Toshinori stood tall, exhausted and injured. But victorious.
The world celebrated around him, but All Might didn't feel any satisfaction. He had failed to save the young man who was brave enough to face death and smile as he was killed protecting his mother.
All Might, had lost.
8 Years Later
A flash of white light lit up the ruins of a destroyed city, a Vex teleportation through time and space. But the Machine that emerged was not Vex by any standard. It was in fact, a Ghost. The ghost hovered in the air as it looked around at the new environment it had been released into. She had been captured by the Vex and was being used as a lab rat to see if a different form of humanity from a separate timeline could produce a guardian.
The ghost was filled with the light the moment it arrived in the new world, this place was practically vibrating with Light. It flowed into the ghost renewing Her strength. She immediately set to work using her newfound power to try block any more Vex transmat links to this world. She was not letting those machine monsters desecrate this world as they had her own. Once she finished the Ghost decided to have a look around to see what could be found here. If the Vex put her here to raise a Guardian, Solasi was going to do just that. One that would spell their doom.
Solasi started her search with a wide range perimeter scan aimed to find any organic material amongst the rubble of the destroyed city she had been transmatted into. The first scan came up with hundreds of potential targets for more precise scanning, so Solasi set to work with the closest one to her. Solasi shot off flying toward a half standing house and moved inside to search for a body to scan, it wasn't hard to find one as there were three in the main living room. Although none of them were capable of holding the light so Solasi moved on to the next site, a small shopping mall.
After a few hours of searching Solasi was getting frustrated, none of the people on this world were capable of wielding the light, not even the smallest amount. They were not compatible at all!
Solasi was beginning to curse her luck as she entered the site of a collapsed apartment block on what appeared to be the main road of the area, and judging by the crater left in the road, the centre of one hell of a fight.
Upon entering the rubble of the building Solasi saw another skeleton, this one was smaller than most, a teenager if she had to guess. Its neck had been snapped and was disconnected at the base of the head, Solasi felt bad for whoever they had been in their past life, nobody deserved to die and be left to rot in a place like this.
Solasi hovered toward the corpse to give it a scan and was amazed at what she found. The kid was able to wield the light, more than that though, he was far more compatible than some of the guardians back in her old world had been.
This kid was going to be strong, and Solasi knew it. She immediately set to work repairing his body and bringing him back from the dead. Not the easiest of tasks but one a ghost was born to do, within minutes the kids body was completely healed to how he had been before his death. Solasi noted that his body was missing a voice box, the kid would be mute, but that wouldn't be a problem as Solasi and her guardian would be telepathically linked. He also had cats ears, a tail and claws on his fingers, his dark brown hair was fairly long for a guy but Solasi thought it suited him. "Well, I'm done now. The rest is up to you. Come on back to us, Eyes up Guardian" Solasi said to her guardian just as much as to herself.
"Eyes up Guardian" A feminine and slightly robotic voice said, it was so loud that it shook the young boy to his very soul. Then the world went white, a light so bright it blinded him, he closed his eyes and covered them with his hands. The light subsided and the newly born guardian lifted his head from the concrete he awoke on. The feline boy tried to ask what was happening but found he couldn't speak. Confused he reached for his throat, there was no vibration when he tried to speak, nothing at all. Something was missing, the young boy looked up and saw a purple hand sized diamond shaped drone of sorts with white markings at the tips of its shell. Its blue eye lit up and flashed as it talked to him "Hey you woke up! That was fast, you are probably very confused right now. So let me be the first to say, Welcome back to the world of the living! I am Solasi, a ghost. Well... your ghost actually, I bought you back to be my guardian!" The little machine, Solasi it called itself, was overexcited and started talking very quickly. The feline boy held up a finger as he struggled to sit up and get his bearings, pushing himself up to his feet.
'How do I communicate without my voice' the boy thought, out of nowhere a second voice entered his head speaking in time with Solasi's flashing eye. 'Oh that's easy, you just have to think about what you would want to say. We have a telepathic connection so we can talk without others hearing us' The boy jumped when the voice sounded in his head responding to his thoughts. He scowled lightly at Solasi 'Useful but don't just go reading my thoughts without my permission. Now why do I remember nothing at all? I have no idea what my own name is'
"That. That's a side effect of resurrection, you start fresh, with no idea who you were in your last life. But that just means a new world of possibilities! You can do anything you want!" Solasi was talking again and getting excited just thinking of everything to do in a world that hadn't been ravaged by darkness. "Although I did resurrect you to be my guardian and I don't think I can hold back the Vex forever, they are a bunch of metal monsters made solely to wipe humanity off the face of existence. So maybe you should focus on learning to fight before we do anything else. Speaking of, you should have some basic hand to hand and weapons knowledge as I transferred some to your memory" Solasi had been planning for this for a long time, she dissipated in a flash of blue and white light and was gone. 'Don't worry I'm still here, just sitting in your backpack so to speak. I'll reside inside you as it's too dangerous for me to be in the open all the time. If I die then I can't bring you back' Solasi said in her guardian's head.
The Guardian nodded in understanding, then started walking down the long street that had been torn apart in whatever war happened here then was left untouched for years. 'Hey Solasi, is there a way of communicating with other people that doesn't involve you coming out and revealing yourself?' The Guardian thought to his ghost. 'Yes there is, it's called sign language. I'll just take a few minutes to upload how to speak it fluently to your memory then you can practice by using it to talk to me before we run into another person' Solasi replied happily, she was grateful that her guardian was already thinking of her safety and keeping her hidden as much as possible.
Solasi got to work accessing the network that seemed to be routing information all over the world they were on, it was extremely primitive compared to the systems used back on her earth, any ghost could have hacked in from anywhere in seconds, Solasi didn't even need a console to access it. She just intercepted a signal going to a satellite and used it as a bridge of sorts. It took her less than a minute to discover all she needed about where they were, a place called japan, the date, current events and even everything there was to know about communicating with sign language. Now her guardian just needed to practice to get the hang of it.
Turning her attention back to her guardian she found he had walked a fair way and figured out how to use his light while he was at is. He was currently manipulating some void light in the air above his palm, changing its shape, density and figuring out how to make it solid or liquid. It was mesmerising to watch and Solasi decided to let him go at it a while longer before she transferred sign language into his head as doing so would break his focus.
The Guardian walked and played with his void light for a while, how long he was unsure but Solasi had gone quiet a while ago so he had been left to walk in silence and try to focus the energy he could feel coursing through his body. He had managed to bring it out in an orb above the palm of his right hand and had spent a enough time messing around with it that he lost track of time, whilst he was trying to make a blade out of the energy Solasi spoke up again. "Hey Guardian, looks like you got a good grasp on how to use your light" the feline boy jumped from fright and accidentally sent the orb of void flying into a destroyed building putting a hole into one of the few walls left standing.
"Uhhh, maybe a bit more practice is needed. Anyway, I'm transferring everything you need to know to you. You may want to stop and take a rest while I do this as all the information may be a bit overwhelming while you sort through it" Solasi said as she began readying the transfer, the guardian took a seat to rest and immediately started remembering things he never knew. Current events, important information on societal structure and laws and how to speak in sign language, he also received knowledge on how to read and write. "Just take a few minutes to get through all that and try using your new form of communication to tell me when you are ready to continue" Solasi instructed before disappearing to dig for more information that could be useful.
After a few minutes of sorting through his new memories the guardian was ready to move again.
"I'm ready to move Solasi" the guardian signed to thin air, upon receiving no reply he snapped his fingers to get his ghost's attention. "Sorry, I was trying to find a name that might fit you, what did you need guardian?" Solasi replied to his action. "I'm Ready, lets get going" the guardian signed again. "Alright, lets get going! If you want I can give you name suggestions for you to choose from?" Solasi suggested, the Guardian just threw a thumbs up and started walking out of the flattened city once more. "So how does Kosuke sound?" the Guardian gave no reply and kept walking. "I'll take that as a No, okay... Oh! How about Kosei?" a small shake of the head dismissed that idea. "Kay, how about... Asuto?"
…
"Koya?"
…
"Kamui?"
"Theres already a pro hero by that name, did you read any of the info you sent me?" the guardian signed with a small smirk growing on his face as he finished.
"Oh haha very funny, I read all of it thank you very much, Kamui" Solasi replied with a teasing tone.
"Continuing on, how about Morimitsu?"
The Guardian stopped at that, looking to be actually considering it.
"I like it" the newly named Morimitsu signed to Solasi, a warm smile on his face.
"I think it suits you perfectly, Morimitsu" Solasi was very happy that Morimitsu had been happy with one of her selections. He even let her name him, that was something not many ghosts had been able to do.
Morimitsu started moving once again, ready to face the world more sure of himself. If the Vex wanted a fight, they wouldn't know what hit them.
Around an hour passed before anything interesting happened, Morimitsu and Solasi talked as they travelled but eventually Solasi went quiet to continue researching and scanning. Morimitsu was left on his own to practice his control with his void light and walk.
It was as they were moving past an abandoned construction site that a large chunk of concrete exploded out of a wall to Morimitsu's left, the blast carried him off his feet and into a wall on the far side of the alleyway. A young looking girl, 13-15 by the look of her came rushing through the hole with a worried look on her face.
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry are you okay? Did I hurt you? I'm so sorry" the girl was rambling as she tried to apologise to Morimitsu who just threw a thumbs up at her. Sure It had hurt, but he wasn't injured in any way so he wouldn't hold it against her.
Morimitsu looked up at the Girl as he sat up and dusted himself off. "I'm fine, are you okay?" he signed to the girl, the look of confusion on her face made the young guardian realise that communication was going to be a pain. Even with sign language, as not everyone knew how to 'speak' it. "Can you not talk?" the young girl questioned Mori who nodded in reply, motioning to his throat. The girl gasped at the sight of a massive scar on the boy's throat. "Well, can you write? I can get some paper and a pen" The girl looked questioningly at Morimitsu who nodded. Mori began writing in the dust with his fingers. ~My name is Morimitsu~ The girl read the message on the ground and looked up at Mori. "Morimitsu... how is it written in Kanji? IF Y-you are okay with showing me?" The girl looked slightly embarrassed.
Morimitsu found her sudden panic funny and nodded at her before writing in the dust again.
~衛光, that's how to write my name, But what do I call you?~ Mori finished writing and tapped his finger above the question at the end to get the girl's attention, but her Pure black eyes were focused on his name. "hmm... Guardian, Light. Guardian of Light... Cool name" she looked up at Mori, he noticed that her eyes were entirely black. And her messy purple hair was falling infront of her face a little, she looked like she had just come out of a fight.
Mori tapped his finger again and the girl looked down. "Oh, call me Chikara. Hadou Chikara, Nice to meet you Morimitsu" Chikara offered her hand as she finished, both to shake Morimitsu's and to help him up off the ground. "Now, we should probably get out of the destroyed part of the city, Villains like to come here to hide out. And there are some weird robots that have been seen here, Weird" Chikara said as she beckoned for Morimitsu to follow.
'Should I follow her?' Mori thought to Solasi 'Probably a good idea, keep an eye out tho. From what Kara's saying it sounds like there might be Vex here already' Solasi replied. 'Understood, I'll keep an eye out' Mori immediately started surveying the area as he followed Chikara out towards civilisation.
After walking for only 15 minutes without a sign of anyone or anything else being around Mori gave up the surveillance and focused on Chikara who had been talking to him occasionally. Mori could only nod or shake his head to reply as Chikara asked him questions. It was after a little while of questioning that the peace was broken. Mori gasped as pain flooded through his right shoulder and a burning sensation overwhelmed his senses. "VEX! Dead ahead!" Solasi called the enemy position as soon as the shot had been fired. Mori looked up to see a second Vex walk around the corner of an apartment building that was abandoned but still standing "Goblins sighted, we need to move now" Solasi said firmly in Morimitsu's head. But Mori ignored her and sprung into action, shoving Chikara to the side and dodging out the way of a second blast of solar energy. A few more Vex stepped around the corner into view but did not fire from behind their allies. Chikara raised her arms and a black energy wafted around her hands and two head sized pieces of rubble, then the rocks levitated and rocketed at the first two Goblins to fire at the teens. The first goblin took a glancing blow to the left shoulder and a few armour plates fell off, the second was not so lucky and was impaled by the stone and thrown from its feet. It landed on its back with the rock lodged in it's gut where a glass container had been a few seconds earlier.
Just as the first Goblin was destroyed a larger Vex teleported a few meters in front of Mori and fired a large cannon that was attached to its arm. "JUMP!" Solasi yelled, Mori jumped immediately and then jumped while in mid air gaining even more height as a burst of light acted as a platform for him to step from. The large Vex had fired where more had been standing and the shot tore up what was left of the pavement and disintegrated it. Mori landed a few steps back from where he had jumped from and looked up at the Vex that had just attacked him. It was surrounded with a purple shield that shimmered as the Vex moved. "What do they want with us?" Chikara called to Morimitsu as she backed up a step and levitated two more rocks with her 'quirk' if Mori recalled correctly. Mori didn't take his eyes off what Solasi called a Minotaur, after the first contact she had transferred all info she had on any Vex she had encountered during her life. Out of nowhere two more goblins flew around the corner behind their allies and slammed into a car on the opposite side of the street. Landing in the middle of the Vex was a man dressed all in black with yellow goggles covering his eyes and a very long scarf wrapped around his shoulders multiple times. The man launched the scarf at another one of the goblins, but the machine swatted it aside and blasted the man in the gut with its rifle making him double over for a second.
Mori dashed at the Minotaur while covering his arm in void light, he punched the shield and let all the light he had gathered pulse out across the shield surface and watched as it short-circuited and cut out. The Minotaur stepped back and fell to a kneel as it seemed to be recovering from the blow.
Meanwhile two of the Goblins had targeted Chikara and were firing at her, the first barely grazed her arm and burned the jacket she was wearing and she ducked out of the way of the second.
"That man, judging by his looks he may be the hero Eraserhead. He's friendly" Solasi chirped happily in Mori's ear. Mori nodded in acknowledgement as he saw Eraserhead wrap his scarf around a Goblin and throw it straight into the building behind him, He then landed a kick on it making it crumple to the ground destroyed. Chikara and one of the 3 remaining Goblins fired straight at each other, the rock and solar bolt collided in mid air making an explosion of molten rock blast outwards. Mori felt pain course over him as a shower of shards struck him and burned his skin in many places, the Minotaur also had taken a large portion of molten rock and had been knocked back. Both Chikara and the Goblin that fired at her were recovering from the blast. Mori took the opportunity and rushed at the Minotaur with his claws coated in void light.
The Minotaur raised an arm and caught Mori by the forearm, it then stood, pulled Mori closer and lowered its cannon at his head. Morimitsu stared into the barrel as purple energy began quickly gathering into the chamber ready to fire.
Chikara looked up as she recovered from the backlash of her last attack against the robots that were attacking her and Morimitsu. She saw Miruko arrive on the scene and put two damaged machines into the ground shattering them, but it didn't matter. She saw Eraserhead kick the back plating off of the Larger monster and put a crack into its glass core, but it didn't matter. The beast had Morimitsu held in its grasp, Cannon primed and lowered to his head. And fired.
A blast of purple energy fired straight into Morimitsu and he disintegrated down to his legs.
Morimitsu, was dead. Chikara had only just met him, she hadn't even gotten to introduce him to her sister and parents. And he had been killed in front of her. Chikara stared as Miruko bounced off a car and sent the Larger machine flying away from a small ball of light that was hovering over Mori's body. She stared after the Machine as it flew through the corner of the building these monsters had appeared from. All Chikara saw was the one left standing, Eraserhead dashed past it and pulled its gun arm off with his scarf as he passed. Chikara still had a rock floating beside her. So she threw it, with all her might. The rock blasted into the vex and tore it clean in two as she screamed at it. She fell to her knees in tears, Miruko came running over to her.
"Hey Hey Kiddo, you are okay. You're okay. Deep breaths alright?" the rabbit hero said to her while blocking her view of Mori's corpse. Eraserhead came back from where the larger machine had been thrown. He looked pissed, then he looked... shocked?
A bright light pulsed out from where Morimitsu laid dead, then Chikara saw Mori walk towards Eraserhead while looking around.
Chikara instantly broke from Miruko's grip and rushed toward the feline boy wrapping him in the biggest hug the world had ever seen. "I thought you'd died" she choked out through her tears.
Mori Tapped her on the shoulder and she remembered he couldn't speak. She let Mori go and stepped back. There was a small drone hovering over his shoulder, its blue eye locked onto Chikara and it spoke. "Sorry for the scare, Mori says he didn't think the Minotaur could recover that fast. Anyways, Nice to meet you. I'm Solasi. Ghost to the Guardian, Morimitsu"
