This is a fanfiction I've wanted to do for a little while now. I'm making some changes to the backstory of my AU and this is just part of it. I mentioned it to my friend, and I had some basic ideas for a while. Hopefully I'll be able to make this as good as it sounds in my head.

This honestly makes more sense to me tbh…

And just so you know, when you see the text "Like this…" it means Fliqpy is talking to Flippy from inside him.

And no, there will not be any rape or romanticization of rape in this chapter.

Chapter 1: Getting Ready

Flippy was in his home, his bathroom was steaming and his mirror covered with condensation. He used his hand to wipe it away so he could see his reflection. His hair, which was normally very fluffy and hard to tame, was wet and slick from his recently finished shower. He also had chest fluff of the same color that currently shared the same wet texture of his hair.

Using the towel around his waist, he hurriedly dried his chest before moving onto his hair. He dried it by dragging the towel from side to side across his head. This process was fastest and worked best on his tousled mess of jade green hair.

After that, he went to his room, which was adjacent to his bathroom to retrieve his clothes.

Except, these weren't his usual clothes. His normal attire consisted of a military grade jacket and matching pants, but tonight he swapped them for a green polo shirt, skinny jeans, and sneakers. He would've worn his boots, but they were extremely dirty and faded, so instead he opted to purchase a new pair of shoes.

After all, this was his first date with Flaky and she deserved only the best.

Once Flippy clothed himself, he returned to the bathroom. He grabbed a bottle of recently purchased hair oil and shook some into his palm. The green bear worked the oil through his hair, slicking it down and taming it as best he could. He stared at his reflection, admiring his looks and looking genuinely pleased.

Which… did not last long, as Flippy's wild hair sprung from its oily prison and returned to its default position: Fluffy and slightly covering his eyes. The war veteran groaned and face palmed in annoyance.

"Yeesh, you think you'd learn by now that our hair can't be contained by any mediocre hair product."

That voice startled Flippy out of his annoyed mood. Although it was a voice he knew all too well and should expect at this point, it still caught him off guard at times. He looked up and sure enough, in the mirror was Fliqpy. His other half, the alter ego who saved him in the war and makes his life semi-miserable with his murderous tendencies. He also hates Flaky and wants her away with a ten foot pole.

"Well," Flippy breathed. "Can't blame me for trying at least…"

Fliqpy opened his mouth to respond, but halted when he instead looked Flippy up and down. Freshly showered, different clothes, and he was attempting to slick his hair back.

"What are you doing dressing up all fancy? Is there a party going on and you didn't invite me?" the evil counterpart asked.

Flippy tilted his head downwards and stayed silent. He didn't want to tell Fliqpy because he knew that he'd get angry. But then again, he'd find out anyway and get mad that Flippy tried to hide things from him and keep secrets, which is another thing he hates.

Letting out a big sigh, Flippy caved in.

"I'm surprised you forgot,"

Fliqpy raised one eyebrow.

"I have a date tonight… with Flaky."

There was silence for a moment.

"Oh… I see…" Fliqpy whispered.

There was definitely anger in his voice, and through their shared senses, Flippy could feel his furiousness radiating in spades. He knew this was coming, although he expected more yelling and screaming.

"And… you didn't think about the fact that I CAN'T FUCKING STAND HER?!"

There it is. For a being who could make murderous weapons out of the most unlikely things at his disposal and who was smart enough to outwit most people, Fliqpy could be surprisingly childish and would throw tantrums over nothing. Well, to HIM it was something, but to any actual sane person it was definitely nothing.

Flippy turned away from his 'reflection' in defiance.

"I know you do, you don't have to remind me. But I don't care, because I like her and I'm going on a date with her." he said, crossing his arms.

Fliqpy growled in anger, clenching his fists so hard he knew his better half could feel it.

"No you won't! I don't want this and you know it!" he snarled.

By now, Flippy was getting really pissed off at Fliqpy. He had more or less gotten used to him being opposed to Flippy having friends, a life, and anything that didn't have to do with fighting and or killing, but he was drawing the line here. He wasn't going to let a bratty psychopath control him to the point where he could never love anyone.

And he loves Flaky.

"Yeah, well spoiler alert," Flippy said, sharply turning towards the mirror. "NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU!"

Fliqpy withdrew slightly from the yell, not expecting the other green bear to not only defy him but even snap at him. Well, he had yelled at him before but not like THIS. This yell felt more powerful, more determined, more full of purpose as opposed to him usually yelling things like, "Please don't kill (insert Tree Friend name here)!" or "Leave me alone!"

Clearly Flaky had a different influence on him.

"I'm going on my date, and you can't do a damn thing about it! Flaky is already expecting me to pick her up." Flippy continued.

"I've accepted that I can't get rid of you, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna be your lapdog. I'm allowed to have a life, and that involves me having friends and dating if I want."

Fliqpy was silent. Normally he has a lot to say and spew at Flippy, but not this time. He's never been hit with THIS before and it's left his quick witted and clever mind at odds and with not much to say. He didn't even realize Flippy was walking away from the mirror and grabbing his wallet which resided on his bedside table next to a lamp, an empty glass, and a picture of himself and Flaky.

It was only when Flippy went to his Jeep and started it that Fliqpy started to formulate and calculate and plan out his response to Flippy defying him.

You will pay for that, Flippy…

Meanwhile, Flaky was in her own house getting ready. Except she wasn't as fast as Flippy. She had been in the shower for a good 30 minutes and was so busy thinking that she didn't notice the hot water running out.

She had never really been on a date before and this date technically being her actual first one was really really nerve wracking. Not to mention, this was another time she was hanging out with Flippy after a long time of losing touch with him and that was something she was still adjusting to.

They had reconciled at her 19th birthday, which was only a month ago. She had also come to terms with the fact that she had feelings for Flippy and she was pretty confident that he had the same feelings. It definitely wasn't hard to see especially since Giggles had repeatedly been shipping them since day one, and Flippy had asked her out so, no surprises there.

And back to thinking about the date…

She was looking forward to it, but still couldn't shake her nerves away. Which wasn't saying a lot considering that she was usually a nervous person most of the time, but this felt like a different type of nervous.

But Flaky would be pulled from her thoughts when she finally realized how cold the water was. She shivered and shut the water off, quickly grabbing a towel and wrapping it around herself.

Once she was dried off, Flaky grabbed the clothes she had picked out and quickly put them on. That was definitely better, and less cold. She picked out an autumn orange sweater, brown pants and she also planned to just wear her black doc marten boots. At first she contemplated wearing a dress, but then disposed of such a thought. She didn't own very many, and she didn't like wearing them. Not to mention she knew Flippy wouldn't expect her to dress extravagantly, since he knew she had a disdain for dresses.

But now she was back to thinking of their date. She didn't know where they were going exactly, but she imagined a cliche type of date, such as having dinner at a nice restaurant and maybe coming to one or the other's house to watch a film or perhaps going to a theater to watch one. All of those sounded nice and pleasant and made Flaky smile.

The red porcupine glanced at the clock hanging on her wall.

It was 5:27 pm.

She knew Flippy was planning to get her at 5:30ish, so he should be here any minute. Flaky decided to try and straighten her quills out while waiting, since they could use a good combing. It was a good thing she showered before this because her quills were easier to tame when wet and showering helped lessen her dandruff which she had special products for.

After her quills were less messy and more tame, Flaky pulled a bunch of them into her hands and tied them back into a tight ponytail. She also fixed her bangs so they wouldn't be in her eyes as much.

As she was looking herself over, she heard a ding-dong sound from down the hallway. It was the doorbell, which could only mean one thing…

Taking in a deep breath, Flaky left the comfort of her bathroom to head towards the door. This was happening and she wasn't even fully, mentally prepared!

Heya, I know it's a cliffhanger but I figured this was a good spot to end on! Especially since I have to get off my break soon.

But I hope you liked the start of this story, because I did! It definitely helped me practice writing so I can do it the way I want to. Let me know if you have any tips!
