Chapter Nine

"Oh that bitch is really trifling!" Sheila spat. "You know what, just let me go handle this hoe real quick." She added, standing but stopped when Tina grabbed her hand.

"Holy shit, I saw what happened… So are we going to fight her or?" Harmony asked, out of breath after running up the bleachers.

Everyone looked to Mercedes who seemed to be in deep thought before Kurt gently nudged her. She looked at her friends, hoping that her emotions weren't showing but based on their expressions they could see she was hurt. She tried to offer up a smile but could tell it wasn't fooling any of them.

"Don't think for one second that was remotely real! Sam is not like that." Tina said and Sheila nodded.

"Right, we know him and he's never done that before not even with his crazy ass ex-"

"Sheila, now is not the time!" Harmony interrupted. "Sheila hates his ex…"

Mercedes nodded. "It's okay really. Let's just enjoy the game and go from there for now, it's not like we're dating."

There was a loud whistle and Tina smirked. "Looks like Jake is in need of his halftime treat."

Sheila rolled her eyes. "He can wait, you good girl? I don't mind beating at bitch's ass."

"SHE!" They heard and Tina snickered.

"Oh he's demanding it now." Harmony teased and for some reason it made Mercedes burst out into a fit of giggles.

"Go put him out of his misery!" Mercedes said in between laughter.

Sheila mouthed thank you before giving her a quick hug. "I'll be back!" She shouted right as Jake quickly grabbed her and tugged her away.

"Oh my Lord, she is an icon!" Kurt said, fanning himself. "Do they do that all the time?"

Harmony and Tina both nodded. "It's much worse during basketball season." Harmony replied.

"I must learn her ways." Kurt said and Mercedes scrunched up her face at him. "What? You saw him, I want a guy to want me that badly at all times."

Tina high- fived Kurt. "I like you, are you going to the party?"

Kurt nodded. "But of course, Mercy-me is going to her very first party. I must witness it."

Harmony snickered. "You're gonna fit in great with us but I kinda left my date hanging… so I'll meet you all at the gate?" She asked, standing. "You gonna be okay?"

Mercedes nodded. "Yeah, I'm good. I have these two to keep me company."

Tina pulled her into a side hug. "Damn straight!"

Mercedes felt her phone go off and saw it was from Sam, she started to ignore it but curiosity got the best of her and she checked it.

SE: I promise I didn't know she was going to do that or why she did it.

MJ: Yeah. It's okay.

SE: Seriously, I wouldn't do that. Not after the other night.

She blushed when he mentioned their night out and slowly started to feel her nerves calming but she still didn't understand how she made Quinn this angry. She'd never really expressed that she was interested in Sam and it wasn't like they were already dating.

MJ: I believe you.

Tina nudged her. "Hey, go get a drink."

"Yeah, let's!" Kurt said, pulling her up while Tina gently pushed her towards the stairs. "Plus we can try to get a sneak at Sheila.'

Tina snickered and Mercedes just shook her head. "I know where they are too!" Tina said.

They laughed as they walked towards the concession stand, helping Mercedes clear her head more. Kurt and Tina rambled on and on about the party while Mercedes texted her sister and Santana who insist she keep them updated on everything. Right as she was about to tell them about what Quinn had done, she felt someone shove her from behind.

"Watch where you're going, loser!"

Mercedes turned to see a few Cheerios standing there. "I wasn't in your way."

A red head sucked her teeth before stepping closer to Mercedes. "If I said move, then you clearly were. Now move!"

"Uh-uh, hold up! Now what you're not about to do is yell at my girl." They heard, seeing Sheila walking over as she adjusted her dress. "So what's the problem?"

"This is between us and her, not your concern." The redhead spat. "She needs to learn to keep away from other people's man."

Mercedes was taken aback by the accusation and quickly shook her head. "No, no, I haven't been with anyone's man… I don't know what you're talking about."

"Just know that Sam is not interested in you and you better leave him alone. This is your only warning."

Shelia moved in front of Mercedes with Tina and Kurt close behind. "And this is your only warning, step to her again and it'll be the last time."

The cheerios looked at each other before scuffing and walking away but not before Mercedes caught sight of Quinn and her friends sneering at her from a distance. She knew Quinn well enough to know that she wouldn't stop until Mercedes gave her what she wanted but this time it was different, she was different.

"Excuse me." Mercedes said, moving past her friends and walking over to where Quinn was standing. She wasn't going to keep playing whatever game Quinn was trying to play and figured it was time to nip it in the bud before it got out of hand.

"Has she said anything else?" Santana asked, looking at Maia's phone.

Shaking her head, Maia started to type another message right as she received one from Brock. "Ugh, why does he have my number!" She groaned, tossing her phone aside and laying back.

Her friend rolled her eyes before reaching over and grabbing her phone. "Let's see… hey, can you please call me? Hey, your parents are here… did you tell them?... girl, why have you been ignoring him?"

"Because he did this to me… jerk." Maia replied, frowning. "Like who celebrates getting someone pregnant?"

Santana looked at her amused. "He was happy?" She asked and her friend nodded. "So, let me get this straight, this guy you've been secretly dating for however long is happy that he got you pregnant but you're upset because… he's happy?"

"YES! Because why is he happy about this? And now he wants me to tell people that we're together and wants to move in together, he's clearly insane."

"Ha! You fell in love with him, didn't you?"

"NO! No, I do not love him… he was just good dick and he turned it into dates and kissing and now I'm pregnant!" Maia replied, sitting up and shaking her head. "This… this was never supposed to happen."

"Maia, you know I know you like the back of my hand and I know that when you and Brock started talking, you were happy as hell. Now, I don't know what happened when y'all started sleeping together but I know if you wanted it to be a one night thing it would have been, so why are you pretending like you'd want this with anyone else?"

Maia rolled her eyes. "I don't want this at all."

"So why not explore other options? It's not like your parents wouldn't support your decision."

She sighed, placing a hand on her stomach. "Because it happened for a reason, I guess… we were super careful and then one night we weren't and all it took was that one time. That and I'm more than sure my dad wouldn't approve."

"Okay, be real with me. What's really the issue?" Santana questioned.

Maia nibbled on her bottom lip before looking at her friend. "He wants us to get a place together and be like a couple with the kid." She confessed. "And before you say anything, I know that's not a bad thing but I have my whole career to think about and he's not wanting to stay in New York… I've built a life for myself there."

"Well I can see how that would be a hard thing to try to figure out but you also have to think about the life you're bringing into the world now too. I mean you grew up with a solid foundation and love, so I know you want that for the kid right?"

Maia nodded, wiping a stubborn tear as it fell. "I just don't know how to tell him it's all too much too fast. I get that having a kid is awesome but do we really need to do everything else? Why can't we just co-parent for now and then go from there?"

"But that's the end goal isn't it? You've always wanted a family and to be married, you're just getting started sooner." Santana reasoned.

"I just feel like I've started too soon and I'm scared. I'm so damn scared San… you know my mom and dad. They're the best parents and had like ten kids, we've never wanted for anything and what if I can't do that for this kid?"

Santana snickered. "I get it now. LENNAA!" She shouted, shaking her head. "Talk to your moma girl, I'm gonna head out for a while… I need to go see someone but I'll be back."

"What's up?" Lena asked, walking into the room.

"Talk to your mother, I'll be back!" Santana replied, walking out of the room.

Lena walked over to Maia and sat down in front of her. "What's going on?" Maia looked at her mother before she threw herself at her crying. Lena immediately wrapped her arms around her, hugging her tightly. "Oh sweetheart, it's okay. You're gonna be okay."

"NoImnotI'mpregnantbyaguythatwantstomarryme." Her daughter muttered into her shoulder.

"That's not a bad thing, that's a really good thing… if you want to marry him too." Lena replied, rubbing circles into her back. "You do want that right?"

Maia shrugged. "Yes… I don't know. Brock is just so straight forward about things and when I told him I was pregnant, he immediately started planning our lives together and it was just too much."

Lena shifted them so that she could look at her daughter. "Have you told Brock this?" She questioned.

"No, I don't know how to tell him this so I just came home and stopped talking to him…"

"Maia! You can't run from him or the fact that he's the father of your child. You know that. His parents are excited about this and even though we thought otherwise, we are excited too. You can't walk around stressed, it's not good for you or the baby."

"I just feel like I've disappointed daddy… he told me not to go into medicine so did and he was just getting around to being okay with it and now I'm pregnant and probably won't get to finish."

Lena sighed, looking down at her daughter. Seeing just how scared her daughter really was about everything. "Would it be easier if you came back here for a while? Just until you had time to find a place suitable?"

Maia sniffled. "Yeah… that'd be really good actually."

"Okay then, we can get you moved in for a while and if you want I can help get you set up with a doctor." Lena offered, smiling when Maia just nodded.

"Thank you mommy."

Leaning back, she lifted her daughter's face. "Your father is not disappointed with you, he is so dang proud of you for going after medicine and he will love that child like none other. Don't ever think we are upset or disappointed. We raised all of our children to chase after all of their dreams and be their own people, you have done that and then some." Lena said, offering a smile. "Now, go talk to that damn boy."

Maia let out a soft laugh. "I will… eventually."

Her mother rolled her eyes, kissing her on the forehead. "Stubborn, just like your daddy."

"Wooohooo!" Azimio shouted as everyone piled into the locker room. "That was so good playing Captain!"

Sam looked at him confused before nodding. "Yeah man, that's some strong defense you are playing. We can get them in the next quarter, just gotta keep it up bro."

Azimio clapped his hands, letting out another shout. "Biggest game of the year! Oh you and that cheerleader, hot bro!"

Sam winced. "Yeah bro… I don't know that crazy chick." He admitted and everyone in the locker room shot him an amused look.

"Wait, you got it like that Evans?" Dave Karofsky asked. "Damn teach me your ways dude!"

He shook his head. "No, there will be no teaching of ways. She's just some Cheerio that decided to kiss me."

"Yeah, yeah. Does that mean you're not chasing after that sophomore anymore?" Puck asked, earning a look from his friends.

"SOPHOMORE? Robbing the cradle now?" Azimio teased. "Next thing you know he's gonna try to get Ms. Pillsbury!"

" is hot, I'd hit that." Puck said, moving his hands as if he was smacking a woman on the butt.

Mike laughed. "She's too OCD, she wouldn't let you touch her without a glove and we all know you hate those."

Puck shrugged. "Puck-a-saurous has his ways around those."

"Not the gloves I meant." Mike bounced back, laughing and shaking his head.

"Back to Sam and the sophomore, why not just get back with Jen?" One of his teammates asked and he shook his head hard.

"Hell no, we're not about to dive into my personal life and we damn sure not about to talk about her. We need to focus on winning this game."

"Look at Evans trying to keep her all to himself. She's a hottie for sure, nerdy with a nice ass." Puck taunted.

Sam shot him a sharp look. "Bro, chill."

"OOOO, he's serious!" Azimio chimed in and all of the other teammates joined in teasing him.

"Alright ladies!" Coach Bieste shouted, getting all of their attention. "We played a strong half but we have to play even stronger this half! All of you guys are doing good by backing each other up and making sure Sam is getting the ball where it needs to go. Now we gotta hit them hard at every turn!"

Sam nodded, grateful they were off the topic of Mercedes. "We will coach! That trophy is going home with us, where it belongs!"

"Hell yeah!" Everyone shouted.

"Let's go back out there and make them remember why this is Titan Nation!" Sam shouted.

Quinn watched in amusement as her friends got into Mercedes' face before frowning when she saw her storming towards her. She knew Mercedes was a non confrontational person so this was going to go one of two ways. One with her asking why she was being treated this, as if she didn't know or with her trying to make things right in sake of saving their friendship.

"She's so predictable." Quinn bragged. "Watch this, I'm going to make myself look really sad and she's gonna apologize." Bree and Kitty both snickered.

Mercedes walked up to her, letting out a heavy breath. "Quinn, we need to talk."

Quinn faked a pout. "About what?" She feigned innocence."

"Oh cut the crap, that mess never worked on me. I just didn't want to be rude and tell you you look like a blonde squirrel." Mercedes spat.

Quinn was taken aback, blinking before Bree nudged her arm. "That's not what you're supposed to be saying, you're supposed to be apologizing for being such a lousy friend!"

Rolling her eyes, she shook her head. "I have never been a lousy friend but you have. That crap you pulled was not cool and you know it. You should be embarrassed that you have to go to these lengths just to get a guy to notice you."

Quinn stood up straighter, getting in her face. "Says the girl throwing herself at a guy that is just using you until he gets what he wants!"

"And yet, you throw it at him and he still isn't interested." She bounced back holding up her phone so Quinn could see their texts. The three girls leaned in reading the last few messages before Kitty scuffed.

"That doesn't prove anything." Quinn said, pushing the phone away. "You're out of your league and now that everyone has seen me kiss him, he will never be able to be seen with you."

Mercedes nodded. "And yet I'll be the one going to the party with him and you and your little friends will be trying to find anyone you can cling to to make yourself feel better about the fact that no one wants either of you."

The three girls looked at her in shock. "Mercedes you-"

Holding up her hand, she shook her head. "You're a shitty person and you were never really my friend. I realize that now but you acting like this over a boy? Shows exactly what type of person you will always be, your value comes from the guy she's connected to." She said, turning to walk away. "You might want to fix your ponytail, you got a show to put on." Mercedes walked away feeling more confident then she had ever before.

"And that's how you clear a bitch!" Sheila exclaimed, snapping her fingers earning a laugh from Tina as they followed after Mercedes.

I had to end it there! The party will be epic and I kinda want to let yall in on a secret...
