After The Storm

Chapter 15

Days Later

The Naley home

(For a couple who are barely sleeping or really doing much but taking care of twins.)

(The two of you are doing amazing. Incredible.) Deb said.

Haley smiled warmly. (We're trying. I just don't want to become too burned out between the kids and college. Plus trying to keep our relationship going. I'm worried I won't be able to handle it.) Haley admitted.

(I have no doubt the two of you will figure it out. And whenever you need help. I'm here. For my grandkids and for you and Nate.) Deb reassured her.

As Dan served his life sentence for killing Keith. It gave Deb the opportunity to start life over as a single woman. With the two no longer being married. Even though she kept the Scott last name.

...

(Did the baby proofing work out okay?) Skills asked.

(Perfect. Thanks for coming by for a visit.) Brooke replied.

(You know I had to check in on the Davis girls.) Skills replied.

Brooke realised more and more in these quieter moments.

That she never really needed her parents.

She had her chosen family and that was enough.

The friendship bonds remained strong as everyone went their separate ways.

After 4 years everyone returned home.

...

Brooke couldn't be more relieved to return to her hometown.

Salem had a meltdown on the plane. She did not like flying.

Brooke could feel the other people's judgement. But she couldn't care less about that.

Once she got Salem into the home. She brought her into the upstairs bedroom. The downstairs room was for guests.

She quietly changed the 4 year old into her pajamas. And carefully tucked the purple monkey beside her.

She plugged in the nightlight. Salem hated the dark.

Brooke carefully left the bedroom and went across to her own room.

Her suitcases needed to be unpacked but she would get to that.

She saw her cellphone light up and picked up the call.

A smile coming to her face.

(Hi we just got back. You didn't need to call but I'm glad you did.) Brooke replied.

...

Lucas couldn't believe how his romantic life had changed and shifted a failed proposal ended him and Peyton. But he had moved on.

He loved Lindsey.
