Author's Notes: No shoutouts again, but this clip is a gift to the guest supporters. I can't give a shoutout to a nameless user, but I can show my appreciation towards them regardless. XD Anyways, this clip sort of expands on the clips Jolly Roger in the Shower Room and Fight Like a Pirate, Girl! It's not a complete expansion, but it's focused on the joint showering that Ace prefers with the crew and his relationship with Schooner as a friend/ally. If I get another supporter, I think I'll include another clip of Whitebeard. I THINK. It's not a definite idea, but it's a good humor piece. If I change my mind on that, the other option is the dancing competition for the Seven Warlords of the Sea. If all else fails, I might throw in the clip with Dracule Mihawk. MIGHT.
You can leave a review or message to pick which clip you want, but it doesn't honestly matter at this point. I wasn't getting reviews for the expansion pack anyways.
~ ... The Test of Endurance ... ~
Almost done! Just a couple more minutes and a bit more scrubbing to go! Nesi thought.
Nesi was excited with the money she made from her last street fight. She might've been sore still, and her back was definitely killing her, but she was excited about adding a new spigot to the showering room and finishing her plans to build tubs for her and Baragon. She had the space marked off and ready to go, benches were almost finished, and a towel station was upgraded with better wood. She managed to afford nicer lumber and paint, so she went to work to finish construction on the improved shower room while the Spades were out at sea. She wasn't sure if a window should be installed because of cold weather, but a filter to flush the used water from the ship and the heater to steam the bathing waters were replaced with finer equipment and parts. In preparing herself for the big upgrade ahead, she sighed at the shadow of her grumpy captain walking up to her. She wasn't going to be able to keep Ace away from her forever when it came to the steam/shower room on the Bloody Doubloon.
She didn't know what his deal was, but he somehow or another felt comfortable around everyone in the bathing room. What he did not appreciate, hence his grumpiness sometimes, was Nesi not joining in. The floor scrubber thought maybe her captain actually saw her as one of the boys these days, and she was quite flattered with that since she only ever did chores and study on this voyage of the Grand Line most of the time. However, she did notice that the other Spades were talking to her about a lot more topics. She didn't judge them on their opinions of things and probed them into higher thinking from time to time. They seemed to appreciate that space to talk. Obviously, once things got rowdy, she gave them their space, but she kept to herself mostly and just made herself available for the occasional talk. If there was a renovation project she was planning out, then some of the boys volunteered to assist to get inside her head. Discount was all for ripping out the walls or punching something down, and Corale had an affinity for kicking things in. Triska and Deuce were into the decorative construction parts and setting up furniture. She wasn't quite sure what got into the men, but Nesi didn't complain about it.
Nodding at the last bit of scrubbing, Nesi smiled before she heard her captain ask, "What're you so cheery about?"
"Huh?" Nesi questioned in response, turning to Ace with a curious pout. "Oh, just work on the shower room. I got a new spigot!"
Ace folded his arms with some suspicion and asked, "When and how?"
"When we docked at that last town. I got the money from practice," Nesi replied with a bright smile. "My back hurts!"
"Your training is on this ship, floor scrubber. Gambling on land will get you in trouble. Who do you expect to bail you out if you get jailed?" Ace lectured.
"Actually, I fought a law officer! He wasn't happy with losing, but he gave me a tip. I think it was out of good sportsmanship," Nesi answered, shrugging and lightly blushing. Determined to improve, Nesi clenched her fist and scrub brush, nodded, and said, "I'll train even harder on this ship as promised, captain! I won't ruin your reputation or gamble passed an agreed upon match. To the ends of the Earth, I'll follow you!"
Ace was quiet at her words, but there was a look in his eyes that caught the Spades' attention. A sense of pride and accomplishment was strong, but it was hiding something else lurking underneath. Nesi said something else to start a conversation with Ace until she was dismissed to continue her work elsewhere. The captain walked back to his cabin to check on leftover paperwork at his desk. For someone as rebellious and kind-hearted as Ace, he was becoming oddly well-organized. Part of it might have been because Nesi was his apprentice, but he was doing really well with directing everyone to certain duties.
"Captain!" Corale called, earning Ace's attention just as he was opening the door to his cabin.
Ships were closing in on them! They were friendlies, though. He recognized the dreaded Jolly Roger of a rival crew he met in town. They were cool people. Even though he told them he was Gol D. Roger's son, they chose to look at him as a guy trying to find his way in the world. They didn't care about the One Piece like most crews. It was too much attention from the World Government and other bloodthirsty crews, so they resigned to simply build their own wealth to survive in the world. While Ace was speaking to the captain of the friendlies, some of the boys went to help Nesi with the shower room. They started carrying stuff to the level below deck.
Nesi added the finishing touches to the room, backed up to leave, and started cleaning up the last remains of paint, soil, and sand. She inspected the lid of her tub one last time, checked on Baragon's small pool and foliage, and started filling the racks with towels, soaps, and shampoos. Her body oils went on a rack behind her including her towels and scratcher for the scales and dead skins that have been appearing on her body lately. Unfortunately, the molting process had begun for Nesi, so her nightmare of becoming a Baragon was quickly approaching. Her neck and shoulders were visibly hardening and forming reptilian skin all the way to her scalp. She wondered what color she would be as a Baragon. Would she be rosy like him or just a regular brown? Male animals tended to be the flashy ones to attract mates. While she wasn't okay with mating with other lizard hybrid creatures, what else could she do? She ate the stupid fruit that was changing her. It was too late.
Sighing at her misfortune, Nesi hoped that one day she would get her own personal room with a vanity. Preferably before she became a full-blown lizard. Maybe she'd have to leave with Baragon to live on Tokagemomo Isle for the rest of her life. Ace will revisit her, or perhaps one of his many children, and go on a hunt to behead her like that other big beast. Well, she may as well just stop caring so much about censorship. She'll never know what it's like to marry or couple with another human being if she turns into a lizard, but she can always cover herself and just take care of her reptilian skin. She was molting again. Baragon squawked at her and nuzzled her for comfort before running into his palm tree to dive into his pool and play around in the waters. That somehow cheered her up and made her surprise her companion with fruit and toys to mimic his old home environment. He was even more ecstatic and teared up with joy. He started to sing.
"Hush that worm up!" Ace ordered, stomping into the shower room.
"Squaw!" Baragon cheered, continuing his tune defiantly.
He gasped audibly at the changes in the shower room and looked amazed. Nesi installed a window in the room anyway despite saying she wouldn't, but the presence of the moon in the small window made all the difference in the room's appearance. It looked like she pulled the jungle from the outside world and brough it in here! It looked... well, great! The other Spades scurried inside and started running around to look at things. The benches were much nicer, and Deuce could see why Nesi wanted to add a rougher strip of flooring to the sides. It was slippery before. Now, it was more solid and had grip.
"Whoa, dude!" Corale complimented, testing out the extra spigot. "We can get a third man in here now!"
"Squaw!"
"You like your little space, huh, my rosy?" Nesi asked, giggling at Baragon's cheerfulness.
"What's this thing?" Ace asked, tapping at Nesi's tub.
"That's my pool for lizard ladies," Nesi answered with a bright smile. "My skin's peeling again!"
"You're awfully happy about it..." Ace grumbled.
"Nothing I can do about it now, captain, but you can shower with two folks now. Choose wisely!" Nesi suggested, rising to stand to put everything away.
"Uuuuggghhhh..." Nesi heaved, sinking into her tub. Her toes were pointed up before she made herself comfortable. Yeah, she needed this. "This is much better."
"Squaw!" Baragon cheered, eating his fruit and grass.
Nesi closed her eyes to relax, not noticing the ominous shadow emerging from the thick cloud of steam on the opposite side of the room. It approached her slowly, making Baragon turn to it and tilt his head out of curiosity. The Draco made a noise, alerting Nesi's attention.
"What is it, snookums?" Nesi asked, opening her eyes. "HELL'S ABLAZE! WHAT IS THAT?"
"Boo..." Ace said with a wicked grin.
"Eek!" Nesi screamed, slamming her tub lid fully shut to where only her head was visible. "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU IN HERE LIKE A CREEPER!?"
Ace chuckled evilly before saying, "You said I could shower with two people, remember? I chose my two."
"What is with you!?" Nesi demanded, locking her lid just in case. "I'm trying to shower in peace and you're interrupting my WHOLE flow!"
Ace said nothing more, though. He just kept his dark grin and laughed. Nesi argued with him for about five more minutes before she gave up and let him have his victory. She had forgotten that the Spades were an uneven number.
