The State Verses Derek Morgan-Ch 61
Mia was all smiles as she walked out of the judges chambers with the finalized paperwork in her hands, she couldn't have been more happier that her client was proven innocent with Penelope showed up in the courtroom alive and well. She was deep in thought and almost didn't hear someone talking to her, she turned around and said, "yes, can I help you?", the second she turned around she recognized the man standing in front of her from the trial, he was the jury foreman.
She smiled and said, "good morning", he said, "good morning to you too mam", Mia said, "how are you today?", he said, "fine and yourself?", she said, "I'm great as a matter of fact", the man said, "do you remember me?", she said, "of course I do, you're the jury foreman from the case yesterday", the man said, "that's right".
Mia said, "is there anything I can help you with?", he shook his head and said, "no, as a matter of fact I have something to tell you", she said, "something to tell me?", he said, "yes" as he nodded his head. She stood listening as he said, "since the trial is over I thought you might want to know what our verdict was going to be".
Her heart was racing, did she want to know, yes, yes she did, she said, "are you sure that you want to divulge that information?", he said, "I'm sure and I would like to say congratulations because we were going to find him innocent". Mia said, "that's great news, thank you for sharing that with me", he said, "you're quiet welcome and another bit of news is that it was 12 not guilty, there was no way that we believed anything that the prosecution said".
Mia said, "thank you for coming to me to tell me", he said, "not a problem", he then said, "you have a good day", Mia said, "thank you sir, you too", the two smiled at each other before going their separate ways. As Mia walked away she blew out a sigh of relief, they never doubted Derek's innocence, that's amazing, they believed that he was telling the truth and it was 12 not guilty, ohhhh I can't wait to tell Hotch and the others.
Meanwhile at Rossi and Fran's Derek and Penelope were sitting cuddled up on the couch and of course Jack and Henry weren't ready to let go of their favorite aunt quite yet. Hotch looked up at his son and smiled, it was so good to see him smiling and happy again, he was so shattered and broken after he thought that Penelope was gone, but, looking at him today you could never tell that he was ever in the shape he was in.
Hotch was pulled from his thoughts when his cell started ringing, he looked down to see that it was Mia he hit talk and said, "hello Mia, how are you on this beautiful morning?", she said, "I'm great and I just got some great news". He leaned forward and said ,"great news, what kind of great news?", Mia said, "well I had just left the judges chambers with the signed paperwork to finally closed Derek's case when I bumped into somebody".
Hotch said, "who?", she said, "the jury foreman from Derek's trial", he said, "and what did he have to say?", Mia said, "he wanted us to know what the verdict would have been", Hotch leaned forward and said, "and what would it have been had the trial continued?", everybody was now listening to Hotch since they now knew what the conversation was about.
Mia said, "it was 12 not guilty, they never doubted Derek for a second", Hotch put her on speaker and said, "you have everybody here, can you say that again?", Mia smiled and said, "with pleasure". Everybody sat waiting for her to speak and when she finally did she said, "it would have been 12 not guilty, the jury never believed the prosecution for a second, they never thought that Derek did anything to Penelope".
Derek smiled and said, "thank you Mia", she said, "you are very welcome, now go and celebrate your freedom", Penelope said, "Mia, Derek and I are getting married, I proposed and he said yesssssssss". Mia laughed and said, "that's wonderful news Penelope, congratulations to the two of you", Derek and Penelope said, "thank you" in unison before Derek leaned in and claimed her lips with a soft, gentle and loving kiss.
