After The Storm
Chapter 17
Author's note : Brooke lived and raised Salem in her New York apartment. While juggling her career. Once things were stable enough business wise. She moved back to Tree Hill. It took at least two years before Lucas and Brooke were on better terms. Lucas has gained success with his first novel. Rivercourt Born. But he has yet to release a second novel. He saw Salem as much as he could during that time.
Between school I Salem. Brooke didn't have time energy or interest in dating. During that time.
(We should go you still have boxes to unpack. Lucas you've been moved back long enough.) Brooke said.
(Unlike you I haven't mastered multitasking and managing to make it look effortless.) Lucas replied.
(Bye daddy. See you at dinner.) Salem said.
Lucas smiled. Engulfing her into a hug before watching her take Brooke 's hand and leave.
( you going to tell me about this dinner invite and why exactly does Brooke need a key.? Can't she just call or text?) Lindsey asked.
(She can and she does. It's just the way we do it here. An open door policy. Friends are the same way. Brooke is family.) Lucas explained.
Lindsey hadn't known or grown up in small town life. He hoped in time she would adjust.
(She's you're ex. The mother of you're child. You're past. I'm you're future.)
(You're mom is family. Brooke isn't that to me.) Lindsey replied.
Lucas sighed deeply.
(I'm off to the stores for some shopping. I'll pick us up something to eat.)
(I doubt whatever we have tonight will be home cooked.) Lindsey added in.
...
(Mom you should of seen it. It's like I wasn't even there. I mean this is my boyfriend. I'm living with. And around them. I'm like the outsider.)
(That Salem is something. I'll say that.) Lindsey said. As she pushed her cart through various aisles.
