Bonnie felt the side of the bed as she woke up and was met with a little body. She looked over to see Hiwa and Hope cuddle near her. She felt out for Klaus but she felt nothing, his emotions were gone it was like she completely blocked out from him, he usually hid how he felt from her but it always leaked out. Klaus might love to appear as a sadistic, emotionless monster but he actually felt a lot.

It went so well with him being an artist but right now she felt empty, like a part of her was missing. She got up from the bed used the bathroom and went downstairs, where she heard Freya and Rebekah talking.

"You'd think you live here when every time I turn you're here," Rebekah says

"The kids didn't feel like driving home so we slept over," she told her sitting on the stool.

"So breakfast for three more?" She looked over to see Finn at the stove

"You been here the whole time?" Bonnie ask

"See brother, even your creator doesn't notice you." Rebekah said as she turned to Bonnie "I have been telling him he needs to change his style but,"

"We were actually trying to see how we could get the ashes from Davina, I can't believe Nik gave it to her," Freya sighs rolling her eyes.

"Come on you know what young love is like," Finn said

"Yes but it's our brother, we take preference," Freya shouts.

"None of you were rushing to bring him back plus he would be dead if you hadn't hexed him, Finn," Rebekah rebutted

Bonnie watched the siblings argue and wondered where Klaus was, and why he leave? Was he mad at her? Did she do something? He didn't even leave a note like he usually does.

"So Bonnie are you excited to spend almost a week with your favourite Mikealson?" Rebekah asks.

"No you know Hope is her favourite," Finn chimes in

"Finn I swear you need to get out of this house and out of Bonnie's and Freya's ass," Rebekah exasperates. Bonnie laughs

"Where is Nik?" She asks

"He went out last night," Rebekah said. Bonnie nodded and went to wake the girls, She made sure they got breakfast and Freya offered to drop them off by Zaci.

Bonnie dressed in some comfortable clothes since she knew she spent most of the drive sleeping or reading until she reached Florida to get the anchor, she also had put her hair into two large braids.

She picked up her bag walked out of Klaus's room and started walking down the stairway, As she was passing Rebekah, she touched her shoulder.

"Be careful okay," she says.

"What do you mean?" she asked, studying the witch did she see something?

"I don't think meeting your first turn will be as nice as the others," Bonnie said, she had an idea that Klaus already ran into Lucien, and no one would be foolish enough to go against him straight out.

"Aurora believes in girls sticking together," Rebekah said Aurora was that the name of Klaus's first love as a vampire? Rebekah turned her? bonnie raised her eyebrows

"Girls like that usually turn against you at the sight of the first attractive male," Bonnie laughs "Plus a dagger isn't the only way to put you down," she continues.

Rebekah placed her hands on her shoulders,

"I'd never put a man above a friendship, but don't worry if she doesn't blink to liking, I'll rip her eyelids off and feed them to her," Rebekah says flashing her vampire teeth.

Bonnie nods and tells her goodbye, She looks at the gold watch Klaus gifted her and sees that he has 3 minutes to get there. at first, she was against even calling him, but the more time she had to think the more she realized, that it was unfair for him to leave her whenever they disagreed. If they were going to do this relationship, they both had to put the effort forward or they could end this and she tries to move.

It would be hard because what she first entertained for just sex and fun turned into a friendship, Klaus was one of the few people she trusted herself to be around, he knew most of her secrets, he was her cheerleader and he knew how to take care of her, everything with him somehow felt natural felt right.

She knew if he ended things, her heart would break after she broke every bone in his body cause he could have left her alone.

Bonnie's heart felt heavy and clouded, she sighed and started to head towards the car and gave Elijah her bag,

"I knew you weren't leaving without saying goodbye," Klaus says coming towards with a paper bag in hand and a smirk on his face that Bonnie was prepared to wipe off his face.

He came right up to her and held her chin, She folded her arms and looked at him,

"Bonnie," he said softly, she looked at him in his eyes, it was soft but yet blank reflecting back her anger.

he bent his head to her ear and kissed it, then her cheek and then her nose, this was his way of apologising, Bonnie sighed, she honestly couldn't do this with him right now. the world would stop on his axis the day he apologise.

"Love, I -" she looked at him and waited for him to finish. "Can we talk when you get back? I don't want you to be mad at me when you're gone," he said instead, she rolled her eyes and said okay. She was disappointed but not shocked.

She nodded and pulled him in for a kiss before going to the car but he pulled her by her waist and dipped in for a more intense kiss, The kiss showed that she was frustrated, Klaus open back up his side of the bond, and she felt his conflicted emotions.

"I'm sorry, I just needed to clear my mind okay," he whispered when the kiss ended.

"Okay," she said giving him a kiss on his cheek,

"I see why Rebekah hates being in a room with you two," Elijah said clearly his throat, Bonnie put her head on Klaus's chest and laughed, why had she forgotten he was there?

She holds Klaus's jaw gives him a peck and gets in the car,

"Be safe, my love," Klaus tells her putting the paper bag on her lap and nodding at Elijah, Bonnie tries not to melt at him calling her my love.

Elijah turns on the a.c to help Bonnie cool off from the mid-day sun and looks through the mirror, to see that Klaus is still standing, looking at him, he knows Klaus would have rather any of his other siblings with Bonnie, not because she was mostly likely to kill him if given the chance, but because bonnie as become his heart, and Elijah as never take care to ensure his heart stays intact.

Elijah plans to make the most of this trip getting to know Bonnie and ensuring she and her cousin make it back safe.

"Do you want the radio?" he asks her, she shakes her head.

"Once we are out of New Orleans, I have a few books, I'd like to read and you can help me a bit It's written in French, I studied a bit back in high school," Bonnie said looking at him,

"I would love to be of service," he quips,

"You don't have to be so formal Elijah" Bonnie says rolling her eyes, she takes one of the pastries in her bag and starts to eat the tarts, she looks over at the original, she doesn't know how this trip will go but hopefully Lucy will help to diffuse the situation.

She was working on moving on what he did but the nights when she was plagued with nightmares of losing her grams, mom and all her friends, she was reminded of that anger and it clings to her like an insect trapped in a web, she fears she might need to let it completely eat her to make the pain go away.

She would get her revenge eventually soon as she perfected the spell, this was just the road to get him to get his guard down and know the man beyond the killer.

"Soooo, do you seduce witches too?" she asked him out of the blue, he looked over at him and raised his eyebrows. She motioned for him to focus on the road.

"Well Kol is with Davina, I don't care much about Finn and your brother literally has rumours about him where he brings witches to the dark side." Bonnie said, "so obviously you guys have a type right?"

"Well having a witch on our side is useful plus your blood is addictive to vampires," Elijah said

"Did you practise any magic before you were turned?" Bonnie asks but before he can answer, her phone rings, she picks it up to see it is Elena, she rolls her eyes and throws her head back on the seat.

She answers the phone, it's been months since she's been in contact with anyone but Caroline except for a few texts here and there.

"Hey Elena," Bonnie answered.

"How are you doing?" Elena asked

"I'm doing pretty good," she said, what's the point of this call?

"Oh I miss you a lot," Elena said "but I understand that you won't come back," she continued

"Damon defended you even though you attacked," she said crass.

"Elena I'm not in the mood for this," Bonnie sighed

"That's not why I called it's just Kai, he's your problem and you just left it here for us to take off," she said Bonnie pulled the phone away from her ears to see if her hearing was going cause no way.

"How is it my fault for not accepting a false apology?" Bonnie asked

"Kai was becoming a good person and you just wanted to make this one thing right," Elena explained

"Elena, Get off my phone," Bonnie said.

"What?" Elena said confused

"Get off my phone and just don't call me again 'cause I can't believe you," she pulled the phone away from Elena talking and hung up.

When did Elena get like that? Was she always that way?

Bonnie was feeling heated and hyperventilating, this girl was her best friend, and she should know she wouldn't be difficult unless it was something that was damaging to her. Being around Kai brought back all the trauma she faced in the prison world. She still suffered from nightmares sometimes, Klaus even admitted that sometimes she trapped him in with her.

She wasn't sure if she hunt Kai down or just run and hide. She should have taken Klaus up on killing him.

"Are you alright?" Elijah asked in a concerned tone, she looked over at him and nodded.

"Yeah, can you wind down the windows?" She asked and he did. Bonnie slowed her breath slowly.
Elijah stopped the car and touched her shoulders.

"Bonnie, I'm sorry," he said, she pulled her head away from the window and blinked at him a few times.

"What?" She said surprised

"I'm sorry for the pain I caused when you I said to kill a Bennett," Elijah said

"I never expected it to have lasting effect but you're in my family's life now, and I just want you to know you are safe from me," Elijah said.

Bonnie studied the usual stoic vampire in front of her, he looked actually sincere but he had years to fake his expressions. She studied him and looked out the window again and he started to drive. She hasn't forgiven him but she thinks she can start to untangle the web a bit.

"New Orleans is such a beautiful city it'd be ashamed that the witches are so oppressed," Bonnie said having to stay in one place just to practice magic. Her research told her witches who have tried to practice other magics often felt hollow. Yes ancestral magic was amazing She'd experienced it before but with that magic, there was a restriction, all these witches magic together, different personalities, different beliefs and different goals. Some voices were definitely going to be silenced, she wanted to change that to give the witches of New Orleans their voices back Was it her job to do that No but the fact she'll get revenge on them it will help. They've hurt many families in their pursuit of power she'll make sure they no longer have that power.

"Really to me the witches of New Orleans are formidable," Elijah said

"I'd give it my all if I was against the originals too," she responded "but the ancestral well has served its purpose," Bonnie said

"You were involved with that right?" Bonni asked

"No a witch I was dating had access to Esther's books and she and some others worked together to create the well," Elijah said "I never thought that it would be used against us," he finished

Bonnie chuckles, "You thought witches wouldn't be against vampires? With all the damage your family has done?" She rolled her eyes and picked up the book, Zaci's mom Rene gave her, it was something their ancestors had written over the years starting when they first arrived in New Orleans to just before Rene's mom.

The first few pages were old and thick and in Arabic.

It's been months since the white witch lured me on her ship with false hope of New beginnings. I had just lost my mom to the war and my dad wasn't a good man, he'd plan on selling me. I thought this witch would bring change cause she was like me, but she drugged me and the next thing I knew Iwoke up next to othermen and women who looked like me but they didn't speak my language or share my culture. We wereforced to work on a field filled with strange plants and I had to stop speaking my language or be whipped.

I've seen the witch a few times but I'm still unable to practice magic, I think she'staking it. Maybe there are witches on this land that can help me.
My name is Coumba

Today the witch approached me She knew in my tribe, that I was a midwife in my previous tribe and wanted me to help birth her baby but when she touched me, I felt like I was frozen, that baby was going to die and she knows it. Is this what she did to have the power to enslave black witches? I've helped a few women givebirth but their babies are never seen again. I hope we get to meet them again and that they have better faith than their mothers.

My name is Coumba

New slaves came in this week, I heard one speak my language, and I almost cried, Idid when I came into my home I shared with 10 othersbecause they whipped her right after, I felt her screams rip through my soul, I knew she was a witch then. She is so strong she reminded me of the strengthI had before my mom died before I came here. Her tribe wasn't far from mine, she was taken with her husband and three children. I didn'twant to tell her what happens to children here, it was too hard, and I was lucky enough not to get pregnant. Maybe with this new witch things can change for all of us.

My name is Coumba

"Bonnie," Elijah called to her She stirred in her seat and blinked her eyes open she looked outside it was dark and noticed they stopped she looked over to him.

"What's wrong?" She asked straightening her spine.

" We're having dinner," she nodded and went down her window, when she realised they were actually in front of a restaurant. Bonnie looked over at him.

"Elijah, I'm not dressed for a restaurant, " she said frowning

"Don't worry, If you don't want to be seen you can sit in the office and get what you want," He responded getting out of the car.

She reached for her coat at the back and got out.

"You don't have to compel them to let me sit in the office," she said

"I know this is one of mine," Elijah said, she nodded

"So why restaurants? Can you cook?" Bonnie asked curiously, she never saw him as owning restaurants more so owning stocks, lands or maybe even technology.

"Do you prefer if I cook?" He said stopping to look her in the eyes.

"No I don't want to inconvenience you," she said gesturing her hands to say no.

He nodded and one of the persons from the restaurant came up to them the minute he stepped in. They talked for a minute and the man called someone who led her upstairs to the restaurant.

"This isn't the office but I hoped you'd appreciate the view," the woman said. She nodded at the vampire and looked out the sky was the perfect blue and orange with a few stars making their debut and she could see the lights of a few buildings on, she sighed and sat at the only table set up.

"Here's your menu, would like some wine while you decide?" She asked, Bonnie nodded at the waitress and took the menu. She perused it until the waitress came back with the wine, she had already decided that she'd take chicken parmesan sliders, and Fettunci chicken pesto with roasted potatoes. She of course had a sweet tooth but settled for a dark chocolate truffle ice cream. She was hungry and didn't know why she hadn't done any big spells.

She enjoyed her meal alone, she hadn't seen Elijah since they arrived so she assumed that he was checking up to see how the restaurants had been running since his absence.

he walked into the room when she was savouring the ice cream.

"I hope you're enjoying the meal, Bonnie," she nodded and gave him a grin.

"I think I'll have to kidnap your chef and lock him in my house," she said with a chuckle.

"I'll tell him," he said with a slight smile

"Are you eating?" she asked, she knew sometimes vampires loved to indulge in human pleasures.

"No, I'm okay," he said, Bonnie nodded and went back to eating her ice cream but she felt Elijah staring at her the entire time.

"What is it Elijah?" she said sitting back with her arms folded.

"What are your intentions with my Klaus?" he asked, she looked at him and raised her eyebrows.

"I don't think you want me to answer that question, Elijah," she said with a smirk.

"Don't twist my words." he hissed

She rolled her eyes,

"I intend to marry him and divorce to take half of what he has," she said laughing

"Bonnie," he said irritated

"Elijah, your brother is irritating you know that I don't think no evil plans of mine could have lasted this long, so me being with him is because of genuine interest in him," she sighed

"The bad boy persona can only be enticing for that long before you get frustrated and move on, and I've gotten everything I wanted and still haven't moved on," she shrugged

"What are your intentions with me?" she asked, Elijah raised his eyebrows at me.

"You agreed to come with me, so why?" she elaborated

"I wanted to pacify things between us," Elijah said but she motioned forward for him to continue, cause she knew it was more than that.

"Also when I was in your mind, I saw something and I just want to see how much truth there is to it," he said honestly, in the vision he looked up to Bonnie and honoured her, he hadn't met someone that could invoke such respect in him for a while.

she nodded at him knowing there was no point in asking about it, shes been around his family enough to know when they wouldn't cooperate with her.

"Okay, so are we going back on the road?" she asked as the waitress came for her plates,

"we are only 5 hours away, do you prefer to arrive at the witching hour or late morning?" he asked, she shrugged

"It's better if we arrive when it's dark, I don't want to run into anyone I know," she said

"How long did you stay?" he inquired curious how she stayed so long in this town or even left Mystic Falls.

"A little over a month," Bonnie said

"Why New Orleans?" he asked

"Well, I kept dreaming of it, of a life I could have here, that I would find love here at first I thought it would just be romantic love but it's more than that, I love the city, my friends and I even found family," bonnie said, staring off Elijah's shoulder.

Bonnie got a snack for the road and then they left to continue their journey Elijah was still a bit more perplexed about Bonnie.
