Andrew didn't know how long he had been staring at the door after Gwen left. One of his hands had reached up to the door, as if to grab Gwen's arm as she left. Begging her not to leave, to let him help them as he had promised to do, to...not let this be their final goodbye. But he hadn't caught anything and he didn't chase after her even though every fiber of his being screamed to chase after her.
And yet... he didn't.
Turning his hand to look at his empty palm, clenching his palm into a fist as he let out a loud sigh of frustration. There was nothing he could do, he had his powers, but they were right, he could die in the explosion of the machine, or fighting Fisk. By now, they were probably halfway to Fisk's tower in Brooklyn. Collapsing into the chair that was next to his mother, he leaned back in his lap, burying his face in his palms.
Only to jump when he felt a hand rest on his head, fingers running through his hair. Looking up, dislodging the hand on his head, he found his mother giving him an exhausted smile.
"Mom!" He shouted in joy. Part of him wanted to hug her in relief, but he remembered his mother's injuries when he saw the cast around her other arm. "I'll call a doctor." He said as he hurriedly stood up.
But despite being hospitalized, his mother still had a fierce grip, something she used to grab his arm. Confused, he turned around.
"What?" He asked, in a seemingly calmer tone.
Isabelle released her hold on her son's arm.
"What's wrong? You look worried." She asked.
"It's nothing." Answered Andrew, clearly lying
"Honey, you weren't bending over a chair like that for nothing. Does this have anything to do with what you did to help Gwen?" Asked Isabelle.
Andrew winced as he hesitated to answer: Gwen.
She had everything to do with what was wrong with him at the time. He had no idea how she felt about him and to be honest, he was a little upset that Gwen left like that before he could say anything about it.
But he couldn't really say that to his mom, it was embarrassing. So instead, he was going to come clean about what he and Gwen had been up to the last few days. When he got up to answer, he was surprised by the strange look on his mother's face, he couldn't make out what it meant and honestly, he felt like she was considering him a little.
Letting out a sigh, he then explained to his mother everything that had happened to him in the last few days. Everything from the moment he met Gwen, the spider bite, meeting Spider-man under Fisk's tower. Seeing Spider-man die at the hands of Fisk, Gwen finding him among the rubble of Fisk's machine, training with her, going to the Alchemax facility in Hudson Valley and mentioning her father's death and the fact that Fisk had orchestrated his death.
Before ending his story by talking about his encounter with the other Spider-persons who had been abandoned here by Fisk's machine and how they expelled him from the group, so to speak, in light of his mother's hospitalization.
But he kept the kiss he'd shared with Gwen to himself. He didn't need his mother teasing him now. Or God forbid, his grandmother.
Isabelle didn't interrupt the entire time he regaled her with his story. But her frown had turned into a scowl when he'd mentioned her father. She knew about the plane explosion and the death of her son's father, but had never had the courage to tell him, but didn't know that Fisk was behind it, and that it was a warning to her.
Before, she'd thought he was just collateral damage from one of those lunatics who use religion as an excuse to do horrible things. But if Fisk was the one who orchestrated it all... that would certainly explain why one of Spider-man's nemeses, the Vulture, had come after her.
"Even though I want to make him pay for what he did, including sending Tombstone and the Vulture to beat me up. Gwen's right, though. Killing Fisk wouldn't have changed anything, Andrew. I've killed criminals before who broke up families. Do you know how I felt afterwards? Nothing changed. The families didn't feel any better." Explained Isabelle.
Andrew looked away from his mother, staring at a spot on the wall. He didn't want to say again that he wasn't going to kill him, but made sure he wouldn't hurt anyone else. His gaze remained on the wall for a few seconds before his mother reached out to turn her head toward it.
"Andrew doesn't forget. A dead leader replaces himself, while a wounded leader loses battles." She said.
"I know, Mom." Andrew sighed.
After a moment, she frowned as she looked at her son.
"So, what are you planning to do?" She asked.
"What do you mean, Mom?" Asked the teenager, with a curious look.
His mother rolled her eyes.
"Come on, Andrew. I'm your mother, do you really expect me to believe that you won't go after them and help them, now that I'm awake?" She asked.
The boy sighed.
"Look mom, you're hurt. You don't need me anymore and they've made it clear they don't need my help." Andrew reluctantly insisted.
His mother gave him a doubtful look.
"And when has that ever stopped you in the past? Stan said he didn't need help when he hurt his back two years ago and yet you still offered him your entire summer to help with his break until he got better. And don't think I don't know that you volunteered some of your weekends for the Big Brother program when you and Miles weren't hanging out at Stan's." Enumerated the former vigilante.
It was one of the many things she loved about her son and she was happy that it was one of the few things he had inherited from his father. (F/N) had always been a generous person, he had bought a lot of food for the homeless, raised awareness for various causes, he even donated his time away from Alchemax to help build a park for disabled children. That's why she knew that with what the Kingpin had unleashed, the inaction was eating her son from the inside out, which was more than likely in conflict with his presence here at the hospital.
So for her, what she had to do now was an obvious choice.
Andrew had remained silent while his mother spoke. Honestly, he had no idea what these moments had to do with what had been going on the last few days, so he just wanted his mother to understand what she meant. And what she had said next surprised him.
"Go back to the house and to my room, to the library, pull the first and last book from the middle shelf. This will open a false wall where all the equipment I used as a Taskmaster is kept. Take what you need and if you go to May Parker's house, she can help you modify your Spider-man costume to suit your own style and taste." She explained.
"Mom, are you telling me to go get dressed and be a masked vigilante?" Her son asked incredulously, blinking a few times.
This made her roll her eyes.
"No, I'm telling you to get dressed up and be a masked vigilante so you can chase your girlfriend and say goodbye." Answered Isabelle.
Cheeks flushed instantly.
"What? Gwen is not my..." Andrew began.
Isabelle smiled at that.
"I never said it was Gwen." Retorted Isabelle in a teasing tone.
"Well, who else would you be talking about?" He grumbled. "It's not like I've talked to any other girls besides her since Beth."
"Exactly. So go ahead. Be the new Spider-man and save this city and the world with these interdimensional refugees. The city needs a hero to keep it safe, first it was me, then it was Peter Parker, I that you can be the next." Said Isabelle.
Andrew looked at his mother as she gave him a look that reflected her belief in him. Letting out a sigh with a small laugh, he nodded.
"Thanks, Mom." He said as he placed his hand on her uninjured arm, as close as he could get to hugging her for a long moment.
Turning on his heels, he left the room and immediately headed for the elevators.
What he didn't see, however, was that his grandmother had slipped into the room before he left.
"So did he admit it!" Asked Jeanne to her daughter.
Isabelle rolled her eyes.
"Of course he did. But..." Replied Andrew's mother with a pause.
"But?" Jeanne asked.
The former vigilante sighed as she shook her head.
"Gwen is from another dimension and if she stays here, she will die." She answered.
Jeanne giggled as she waited for the punchline. But when the serious look on her daughter's face didn't change, she realized that Isabelle wasn't kidding.
"Oh... shit. Well..." She sighed in disappointment. "It's too bad, I like Gwen."
"Me too." Isabelle confessed.
"More than Beth?" Asked the grandmother.
"I never liked Beth." Retorted the hospitalized woman.
The grandmother couldn't be bothered to contain her laughter as she shook her head, taking the chair next to the bed where Andrew had sat a few minutes before.
"So, what else did our little boy do? Did he have a crazy adventure like the ones you had when you were a Taskmaster?" She asked, getting comfortable.
Isabelle let out her own laugh as she settled back against the pillows she leaned on.
...Later...
"What took you so long, kid?" Asked May Parker, sipping a cup of tea as she turned in the computer chair in Peter's den to see Andrew coming down the elevator, a bag slung over one shoulder.
"Has anyone ever mentioned that Peter looks like you?" Asked Andrew.
"Well, I took care of him." Answered May with an affectionate smile as she set her cup of tea aside before standing up. "So what can I do for you?"
Rummaging through his bag, he pulled out a notepad with an outfit design and gloves equipped with retractable claw.
"You want his gloves for your Spider-man costume? And that it looks like this?" May asked as she took the gloves and notepad, placing them on one of the tables.
The gloves were the only thing he found in his mother's hidden closet that would go well with a Spider-man costume. And it could be used for surprise attacks to inflict more damage on heavily protected enemies. The drawing of the costume, he had made quickly before leaving.
"Yes." He nodded.
"Good." She nodded in approval before smiling. "Will it be ready in a few minutes?"
"Thank you, May... for everything." He said, thanking the older woman for the first time since their meeting.
May used a machine designed by Peter to create the costume following Andrew's design. She thought it was an interesting choice. It seemed as if he wanted to show by the choice of colors that he was indeed a new Spider-man, but that he was mourning Peter Parker like the rest of the city. That or that he would embody a darker version of Spider-man, May didn't know which interpretation was right, which amused her a little.
What came out of the machine was a mostly black costume, with the red and web pattern on the pecs, shoulders and head, a big black spider emblem on the red part of the torso, gray bracelets with a red circle on his wrists and the lenses of the mask were a dark gray.
Putting on the outfit, along with the gloves he retrieved, Andrew looked down at himself, to see himself in more detail.
"How do I look?" He asked
"I'm not going to lie, kid, you look like my nephew if he had been a supervillain." Declared May dryly before laughing. "But other than that, it looks good on you."
"Thank you, May, for helping me with that." He said gratefully.
"You're welcome. Come on, this town needs you." She said.
Andrew put on his mask and used his web to leave the lair and go to Fisk Tower to help his friends.
...Meanwhile...
Gwen looked out the window of the city bus at the passing scenery of the city with a dejected look on her face, which was thankfully covered by her mask. The lingering feeling of the kiss she shared with Andrew was still on her lips and she had to restrain herself several times from raising her hand to rub them. She knew the others gave her concerned looks from time to time, but she ignored them as she began to suppress her feelings about the upcoming mission.
Lowering her eyes, she mumbled to herself for leaving Andrew behind. But... doing so was the right choice, to protect him. At least, that was what she was going to tell herself for the rest of her life.
"Okay, we're close, you guys will be home soon." Declared Peter as the bus came to a stop.
Peter exited the bus in the lead, the other passengers giving them strange looks as they passed. Gwen wove a web to pull herself up onto the roofs above. The others did the same, heading for a construction crane that stood in front of Fisk's tower.
"The Kingpin has a private elevator entrance from his penthouse leading to the Collider below." Peni stated as she read one of the schematics that appeared on one of her screens. Earlier, she had taken a copy of it from the flash drive Andrew had used to download data from Alchemax.
"I didn't think I had an audience." Said Spider-Noir, as he looked down at the people gathered below entering Fisk's building.
The whole group wove a web to pull themselves up onto the glass roof of Fisk's tower.
And what they saw inside unnerved them all.
"You've got to be kidding me." Said the six Spider-heroes, bewildered.
On the other side of the window, the gala seemed to be set up as a memorial for Spider-man, with many banners along the side of the room with Spider-man's face embroidered on them. They could see Tombstone leading security and the gangster's former boss stood at the podium, giving a speech.
"Thank you." Said Fisk. "I'm thrilled to be with you tonight to celebrate Spider-man. He and I were very close. He was always one of my son's favorites. Kids love Spider-Man, don't they? They still love him."
"What a pig." Gwen insulted.
"Hey, I'm here." Spider-Ham remarked, feeling insulted.
Spider-Black frowned as he noticed something and motioned to the waiters and waitresses working at the gala.
"Wait a minute! Look at the waiters' uniforms. It's tacky, but..." He said as the rest of the gang noticed that all the waiters were wearing regular shirts, bow ties and pants, but with Spider-man masks. "That almost looks too easy!"
The next thing you know, Spider-Man, Gwen, Spider-Noir are each wearing a bow tie around their necks passing through the fundraiser. Spider-Noir is carrying a lunch tray with Spider-Ham inside while Gwen was pushing a large cart that is made SP/dr.
"I can't believe how easy this is." Sighs Spider-Black as they walked through the room where the gala was being held.
The group left the room where the gala was being held and went down the hallway, jumping on the walls and climbing to the ceiling, sticking to it. Their plan was to wait for Fisk and follow him to the elevator leading to the Collider. They didn't have to wait long, as the Kingpin exited the room soon after.
Moving slowly but surely, they followed Fisk to the penthouse doors along the ceiling. And when the man entered the room, closing the doors behind him. Then Peni's robot and Spider-Black wove webs that clung to the guards and pulled them up, Peter being quick to weave a web that covered their mouths. Gwen was tasked with knocking them out.
"Good night." Spider-Noir whispered.
"Very well." Said Peter once the guards were released from the respective grips of the robot and the trench-coated Spider-Man. "Peni, find the elevator, Noir and Ham go with her. Ghost, you and I will hide the guards in the room across the hall."
"Alright!" Replied Peni as her robot saluted after handing the guard to Gwen and was the first to jump to the ground with Spider-Noir and Spider-Ham.
Peter, having taken the guard that Spider-Black was holding, jumped before Gwen and headed to the room that stood on the other side of the penthouse. Opening the door a bit, he peeked in to see that the place was empty.
"It's clear." He said to Gwen before opening the door fully and walking over to one of the couches and throwing the guard on it.
Gwen had just thrown the other guard onto the couch, then she and Peter joined the rest of the group to go into the Collider room from the elevator. The closer they got to the goal, the more Gwen regretted not telling Andrew how she felt about him after the kiss.
A little later Andrew, still in his Spider-man costume, was walking through the corridors, looking for the rest of the group that had left him stranded. After a while he found one of his mother's attackers: Vulture.
"Another Spider-man?!" Toomes grumbled. "How many are there?!"
Andrew flashed the claws from his hands.
"You're going to pay for what you did to Taskmaster."
Toomes chuckled as his wings popped out of the bag on his back and a helmet unfolded from his collar and enveloped his head, which took the shape of a bird's head with bright green eyes.
Flapping his wings, he launched himself at Andrew, who dodged the blow of the man's wings by catching it at its tip.
Quickly studying the situation, Andrew decided to hit Toomes with his wings because without them, the super-villain was nothing. After some blows, he succeeded in catching him and the gloves were not damaged by the sharpness of the wings of the Vulture, he had to keep in mind to ask his mother what they were made of considering their resistance.
"What?" Said Toomes stunned.
Taking advantage of the surprise of his adversary, Andrew pulled him towards him to seize him by the neck. Vulture raised the arms, he clutched the arm which choked him, trying to release himself, but in vain.
"I told you that you would pay." Said Andrew with a restrained anger in his voice.
Adrian Toomes thought of anything that would help him get out of this situation. His wings were spread and he had no other weapons on him. Maybe Tombstone was right, maybe he should have carried a gun or something with him in situations like this. It was then that he remembered that his helmet not only protected his head and eyes, but that a weapon was also installed on it.
He removed one hand from the arm whose hand was choking him and flicked the switch on his helmet to activate the weapon. Taking as many breaths as he could, choked as he was. However, the weapon in his helmet was a sound amplifier, turning his muffled scream into a sonic scream.
This scream destabilized Andrew who dropped his opponent as his ears were ringing.
Toomes had collapsed to the ground when the new Spider-man dropped his neck, causing him to cough violently as he looked at his opponent. Realizing that his opponent was reacting to his sonic scream, holding his ears and shaking his head to stop being stunned, he smiled. Coughing and despite the pain in his throat, he stood up and activated his sonic weapon again, taking a breath to let out another scream.
However Andrew wasted no time and weaved a web to catch Toomes and pulled him towards him to hit him in the jaw with a powerful punch, which broke his weapon.
Taking advantage of the fact that Toomes was now slightly stunned, Andrew grabbed the wings and tore them off with a sharp blow, from their joint on the back of the Vulture. What prevented him from using them, before finally knocking him out.
He continued his way through the building until he found the elevator entrance to the underground Fisk Collider facility, which wasn't difficult given that the doors had been kicked in. He jumped into the elevator shaft without hesitation. As he approached the bottom, he wove a web that hung at the top of the elevator shaft and slowed his descent. From where he was, they could hear the roar of Fisk's Collider in operation.
He made himself invisible to approach without exposing himself too much for the moment.
When he entered the large room where the Collider was located, he could see that the Spider-Heroes were fighting Fisk's men as well as the villains he had hired. Octavius, Tombstone and... Scorpion? Wasn't Gargan supposed to be in prison?
Looking up, he found Octavius standing over one of the room's panels, and in the clutches of his robotic arms was...
"Gwen!" He shouted.
He wove two webs, which he used to launch himself at Octavius, his foot out to knock the scientist over with all the momentum he had built up, and just before he made contact with her, he deactivated his camouflage. He had enjoyed the surprised look on Olivia Octavius' face before the bottom of the sole his suit had met her face and knocked her down.
Acting quickly, Andrew wove another one over Gwen before she could fall into the Collider beam and pulled her to join him and stick to the ceiling.
"Andrew?" She said, looking at him in surprise. "Is that you?"
Andrew lifted his mask, to show her his face, his blue eyes shining in the light caused by the Collider beam.
"Hi." He smiled at her.
"Hi." She said. And even though it couldn't be seen from behind her mask, she smiled back. There was so much she wanted to say to him now that she felt two emotions inside her. A little bit of anger that he was risking his life but still glad that he was there.
"Okay, I understand you two are having a moment." Peter shouted as he dodged a strike from one of Octavius' robotic arms, breaking the gaze of both teens. "But can you save that for later?! We're all kind of in the middle of a fight if you remember!"
Gwen let out a reluctant sigh as she turned back to Andrew.
"Nice suit." She said with a nod of approval after giving him a look.
"Thank you." He answered. "I had hesitated to add a hood to it, after my mentor's image, but I was afraid it would be a bit much."
Feeling her cheeks warm under her mask, Gwen shook her head with a small laugh.
"Oh yeah? Well, let's see if you can put what she taught you into practice." She said with a teasing smile under her mask.
Smiling at the challenge, Andrew put his mask back on. Gwen and Andrew each wove a web to swing around and join the battle, using one of her clawed hands to cut off one of Octopus' tentacles. The fighting continued on all sides, as Peter, Gwen, and Andrew moved away from Octopus to a platform at one end of the machine, seeing that in the center of the machine, various buildings or objects of each Spider-hero's dimensions seemed to manifest in the room.
"Our dimensions land here!" Said Gwen, surprised.
"It looks pretty cool though." Peter observed.
"Yeah, if we exclude that it's happening because of a machine that's going to collapse the multiverse," Andrew said to both his symbiote and Spider-man.
"Oh, that's right. Sorry." Said Peter sheepishly.
"We need to go back up to the sign." Declared Gwen, ignoring the other two as she spotted the panel in question above from where they stood. "I'm not excited about what multiple dimensions occupying the same space will look like at once."
Andrew's spider-sense went off, warning him of the danger, making him look over his shoulder along with Gwen and Peter. Behind them was Octavius with a city bus held by his two upper robotic arms, while she held onto a building with her one remaining lower arm on her equipment, backing up to throw the vehicle at them.
As a result, the three heroes jumped off the platform just in time before the thrown bus could do them any harm. However, it was clear that Octavius was not finished with them.
Spotting a floating door coming toward them, Gwen ran to the door, wove a web over the door, and pulled on it to swing it around and hit Octavius.
"Rah!" Octavius roared as she split the door in half with her mechanical arms and took the two halves of the door she had just cut.
Throwing one at Gwen, who despite the failure of her initial attack, kept the momentum going with a kick to the super-villain's face as she prepared to throw the second half of the door. Unfortunately, that's when Gwen slipped, causing her to shudder in pain and allowing Octavius to slam the other half of the door on Gwen, sending her straight into the side of a nearby relocated building.
"Gwen!" Shouted Andrew before weaving to grab onto a nearby floating cab and launch himself at her, catching her before she could fall.
"My hero." She giggled as she winced in pain.
"Like you need that." He laughed in return as they landed on the side of another building, letting her go so she could get to her feet.
Andrew wasted no time and leapt towards Octavius who was engaged in a fight with Peter.
As such, she didn't see it coming when he whipped his claws out of his gloves and cut another of the metal arms like a knife through butter. Both Octavius and Spider-man witnessed the event with complete surprise and before either could say anything, Andrew landed on the roof of a nearby floating car and jumped again, slicing a third robotic arm in half. To further capitalize on his attack, Andrew grabbed one of his severed arms and turned to create momentum and slam the severed appendage into his face.
Seeing that his help was not needed, Peter turned to where Gwen was standing as she watched the one-sided fight.
"Did you teach her that?" He asked her. "Because if you did, good for you."
"I didn't teach him that." She answered as she watched Andrew dodge the blow from Octavius' remaining robotic, cutting him off as he spun in the air before placing his feet on the side of the building where he and Octavius continued to fight and leapt upwards, his fist hitting the bottom of the super-villain's jaw and sending her flying. "I certainly didn't teach him that move."
Smiling under the mask, Andrew suppressed the urge to laugh as he bound Octavius with his web, and entangled him against a wall, before joining Peter and Gwen on the building where he had left her moments before.
"Good job, Andrew." Congratulated the heroine, giving him a mischievous punch to his shoulder.
"Thanks, I never thought I'd combine gymnastics and Krav Maga like that until now." He chuckled.
"This isn't over, Spiders!" Shouted Octavius before getting his mouth entwined with Peter's.
"Well, all the hurdles have been cleared." Declared Andrew as he looked around, noting that Spider-Noir, Spider-Ham and Peni had taken care of Tombstone and Scorpio. "Let's get everyone back to their dimension."
Peter shook his head.
"No, kid. Nothing's changed, I'm going. I'm the one who..." Said Peter as he felt the part of his suit where he had hidden the flash drive. "What?"
Andrew smirked behind the mask as he waved the flash drive in question in his hand.
"Sorry, man, but I promised to bring you all back." He said before using his webs to flit from building to building until he reached the control panel at the top of the room.
He inserted the gizmo and a holographic interface appeared above the panel as one, giving him full access and control over the Collider.
"Guys!" He shouted to the others. "I have control, get up here!"
"ALERT! QUANTUM POLARITY HAS BEEN REVERSED."
Andrew ignored the automated voice over the speakers as the other Spider-heroes joined him at the panel, making sure things were stable for his friends so they could all get home safely.
"So... this is it." Said Peter as they all realized that this was the end of the trip.
"Well, it's nice to know we're not alone." Interjected Peni, without her robot since it was catastrophically damaged in the fight. Though the Spider she was psychically connected to was sitting on her shoulder. "Right?"
The Spider-heroes all exchanged glances and nodded in agreement. As Spider-heroes in their respective dimensions, they always operated alone, it had been fun to be part of a group.
"Yeah." Gwen nodded.
Andrew pressed one of the holographic buttons.
"The portal is open, you first, Peni." He said.
"Thank you, Andrew." Peni smiled gratefully before glancing at her spider on her arm. "From both of us."
With a bow, she let go of Spider-Noir and fell into the portal, her form disappearing in a flash of light.
Spider-Black glanced around at his comrades.
"I, uh, I love you all." He said, a little proudly. "It was nice to be part of a family again." He then lifted a Rubix cube that had confused him since he found it in May Parker's house. "I'm taking this cube thing with me. I don't understand it, but, I will." With a flick of his hat, he let go of the ceiling panel he was clinging to and fell into the portal as well, this time the portal flashing in black and white.
Spider-Ham snorted as he approached Andrew, pulling out a wooden cartoon mallet.
"I want you to have this." He said, suppressing the urge to cry. "It'll fit in your pocket."
Not knowing what to say, Andrew wordlessly accepted the mallet.
"That's all folks." Said Spider-Ham as a farewell before he too fell into the portal.
Peter frowned.
"Um, was he allowed to say that? Legally?" He asked before looking at Gwen and Andrew. "You know, it was nice to team up with everyone, we should do it again sometime. I mean, without the whole thing that could have led to our disintegration."
"We'll have to figure out a way to deal with this glitch thing first and risk destroying the multiverse with the machine." Andrew retorted.
"Yeah, it won't be easy to get the Spider-Team back together." Mused Peter before waving Andrew and Gwen off with two fingers and jumping into the portal.
"So." Said Andrew as he turned to Gwen removing his mask, revealing his face, forcing Gwen to do the same. "So, is it time to say goodbye?"
"Yes?" She nodded.
She hated goodbyes. And now she was going to have to say goodbye twice.
Unable to bear the silence, Andrew reached out, caressing her face as he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers. This time, he and she poured out their feelings for each other as Gwen pushed against him, one of her hands leaving the ceiling panel to wrap around his neck. When their lips parted, they gently pressed their foreheads together while their eyes stayed close to soak up as much as possible of the remnants of that moment together.
"I want more time." She whispered, with fragility in her voice.
This almost broke Andrew.
"Me too." He whispered back. "We'll find a way, I promise."
She bit her lip.
"And we don't find one?" She asked, doubt gnawing at her like a tick.
"One of us will, I'm sure." He said resolutely before kissing her again.
She would later admit that a few tears escaped from the corner of her eyes as she savored that kiss, hoping it wouldn't be the last.
"YOU RUINED IT!"
The two teens turned to see the Kingpin standing atop a floating city bus, having pushed a car in front of him.
"I'll hold him back." Said Gwen as she put her mask back on. "Blow the Collider!"
"No, I said I'd take you home, Gwen." Said Andrew, grabbing her hand before she could jump. "And I intend to keep my word."
Pulling out the claws of his book hand, he ripped off the panel she'd been clinging to, knocking her down while he still held her hand, leaving him as the only other Spider-hero clinging to a wall before he let go of her hand.
"Andrew, what are you doing?!" She asked, holding her hand to keep herself from falling into the portal. "Fisk will kill you if you fight alone!"
He smiled.
"It won't happen, I promise." Promised Andrew, a determined look on his face.
Gwen bit her lip as she considered the determination of the boy she loved. She then pulled her mask up enough to reveal her face, pulled herself up onto Andrew's arm to stand on the same platform Andrew was standing on to kiss him one last time. A few seconds later she broke the kiss to look into the teenager's brilliant blue eyes.
"I love you, Andrew." She said before letting go, admiring the surprised expression on his face as she fell into the portal.
Andrew couldn't take the affectionate smile off his face even if he wanted to. He then looked at the Kingpin as the big man came around the side of a displaced tower.
He set the Collider to implode in order to destroy it without risking the collapse of the tower and killing everyone in and around it as collateral damage, as well as setting a timer to settle with Fisk and leave.
He crouched down before jumping onto the building where the Kingpin was standing.
"This is for everyone you've ever hurt." He said as he got into a fighting stance, his knees bent with his claws out, ready for battle.
Kingpin growled as he pulled out a handgun and fired.
Andrew rushed to the side to avoid the towering man's ammunition, before rushing toward him. He then used his web to grab the gun from him as a train passed by and Andrew used his web on the train to be carried away from the building they were in.
"I need to get him knocked out to get him away from the beam." He said.
Just then, the train window broke and a pair of hands pulled him inside the train, the Kingpin's. Andrew made himself invisible, but was hit by Fisk before he had time to move, making him visible again and Fisk grabbed him by the neck and slammed him against the wall.
"Not easy going it alone, huh?" Asked Fisk angrily as the train passed through the portal beams. "I can't wait to kill another Spider-Man."
He was about to deliver the killing blow to Andrew, who was about to try and block him, when suddenly... Vanessa and Richard Fisk appeared and did not recognize the Kingpin. Multiple versions of Vanessa and Richards appeared and disappeared, glitching all over the train.
"What?" Said Fisk upon seeing this.
"That's why you had this machine built. To find them." Andrew realized. "I understand how you feel. But you need to grieve before this destroys you."
"Vanessa... Richard!" Said Fisk in a mixture of sadness and happiness. "It's me, you know me." He said hopefully before all the Richard and Vanessa Fisk appearing and disappearing left through the door of the car where Fisk and Andrew are. "Don't go! Stay with me, please!"
Fisk went to the door desperately asking different Vanessa and Richard.
"I'm sorry, Wilson." Said Andrew calling Fisk by his first name for the first time, understanding his pain as he quickly exited the car breaking the roof.
But Fisk did the same.
"You're not going to stop me! Not today." He said as he faced her.
"I already did." Retorted Andrew, before resuming the fight against Fisk.
Fisk fought with renewed fury. He threw Andrew off the train and they continued to fight as they fell, drowning in the psychedelic flow of the portal and crashing into the Brooklyn Bridge that emerged.
He was stunned by the collision on the bridge. He staggered to his feet. But Fisk was already standing on the bridge, unsteady but still dangerous.
Fisk and Andrew clashed like two exhausted boxers. Fisk roughly pushed Andrew to the ground. The teenager crawled away, struggling to get up. He was injured in the attack. He looked up and saw Fisk chasing him again. The latter seized him by the head and threw him against a pile of debris, crushing him to the ground, tried to get up and slipped.
"Even the real Spider-Man couldn't beat me. You are nothing." Said Fisk.
Fisk was out of breath, but he was enjoying beating up Andrew. He kept getting up, but this fight was wearing him down.
"You took my family from me. I'll do anything to make sure you never see yours again." Said Fisk before crushing him with his point, but not hard enough to kill him.
"I didn't take you, your family. They had to leave when they saw who you really are." Retorted the new Spider-man as he stood up. "And you can't handle that truth, so you blame someone else."
"What?" Asked Fisk not wanting to understand what his opponent was saying.
Andrew placed a comforting hand on Fisk's shoulder, who didn't understand what his opponent was doing, until...
Until the teenager struck with his other hand, where his heart was. This destabilized Fisk and Andrew took the opportunity to knock him out and take him away from the Collider and do the same with the other supervillains present at the scene, not wanting to risk them dying because of the damage caused during the implosion.
When they had them in front of him, he was tempted to take a gun and kill them. Especially Toomes, Tombestone and Fisk. But after a moment's hesitation, he talked himself out of it. Gwen, his mother, and his grandmother, do not want him to cross that line. With what he plans to do after turning them over to the police, prison will be worse for them than death.
That's when the Collider imploded, leaving only a ruined room with a control room with broken glass.
Soon after, the police found the five criminals securely tied to canvas with a note saying "from the new Spider-man" as a bunch of paparazzi took pictures of him.
At the same time, Andrew was on the computer in Fisk's office, as the police were too busy rounding up criminals to search the entire building, so he could quickly do what he had planned. By inserting his hacked USB flash drive into the computer he had access to all of the Kingpin's activities, both legal and illegal, as well as all of his bank accounts. He made transfers to accounts that he closed immediately after the operation, wiping out all of the organized crime boss' financial resources.
All Fisk had now was his reputation.
Once that was done, he left the building, swinging from building to building on his webs.
