Olivia soared over the city as a hawk. Very peculiarly, she found that the layout of Jump was significantly altered, but certain unaltered sections along with Titans tower in the skyline confirmed that it was, indeed, the same city.
She perched on a skyscraper and morphed back into a human. She took out her phone and tried to call Nightwing. Nothing. She tried her other options:Mom, Dad, Uncle Vic, Aunt Kori-all bust. Finally, she tried to call her brother, and it actually rung. About twenty second of waiting and...he answers.
"How the hell are you calling me?", Marcus said over the phone, in a whisper and clearly confused.
This confused Olivia as well, and she replied "I couldn't get ahold of anyone else. Something really fucking weird is going on here?"
"I meant how are you calling me without a signal? How did you even get here?"
"I use an untraceable tachyon link to call anyone from anywhere at any time regardless of cell coverage, which makes the fact that none of the adults picked up all the more strange. And what do you mean by 'here'?"
"I..ugh...I can explain everything but whatever you do, don't come to the tower".
"Why not? And why are you whispering?".
"I can tell you everything, just tell me where you are right now".
"On top of some Skyscraper, pretty tall one too. Get a pair of binoculars".
"That's enough to work with, I-shit, gotta go", Marcus said and hung up.
"Dude, what was that about?", Beast Boy asked. He had chased after Marcus when he had went darting down the halls of the tower.
"I was, uh, caught off guard", Marcus said, clearly shaken.
"Phone call?", Beast Boy asked.
"Yeah. It shouldn't have even been possible for..."
"For what?"
"I think someone might've come back in time with me, somehow. You don't have to worry about them, but I can't tell you who they are or let you see them".
Beast Boy looked apprehensive. "Didn't you say you don't think any of this effects your time?", he asked.
"I just- This is my problem, let me deal with it. Okay?", Marcus replied.
"You're sure you won't need any help?"
"Positive"
"Alright then, I'll tell the others"
Beast Boy returned to the commons room after his chat with Marcus.
"Why did he flee from us?", Starfire asked with a look of utter bewilderment on her face. The rest of the titans awaited his answer.
Beast Boy exhaled. "Someone called him, which is apparently impossible. He says he thinks someone else traveled back with him, but that he doesn't want us to interfere".
"So we're just going to let him meet God-knows-who without even the possibility of help?", Cyborg asked.
"He probably has at least some heroics experience and whoever came back with him might not even be hostile. He can probably handle himself and choosing to do this solo is his prerogative", said Robin.
Cyborg looked slightly doubtful of his words, but him and Raven nodded in agreement.
"Should we not still investigate the situation? We would not necessarily need to interfere" said Starfire.
"He's not even a member of our team, really, and there's been no indication that he has malevolent intentions so far. I'll let him have his privacy unless given probable cause", replied Robin.
Olivia watched the speck in the distance grow larger until she could discern that it was her brother.
Marcus landed on the same rooftop which she was on and immediately began interrogating her.
"How the hell did you get here?", he asked again.
"Still don't know what you mean by that", she replied.
"Jesus Christ. I went back in time. How did you get here? Were you at the mineral expo too? Did he hit you with that thing?"
Olivia was dumbfounded by her brothers words to the point it took a few seconds for her to formulate a response. "Back in time?", she asked, "What mineral expo? What 'thing'? I have no idea what the hell you're talking about".
Realization hit Marcus like a freight train. "The Anchor, of course!", he yelped, and saw his sister only contort her face in an expression of further confusion.
"Anchor? What the fuck are you talking about? Have I just gone completely schizo?", she questioned.
"Mom and dad never told you?", he asked.
"Told me what?"
"The anchor, we're dimensionally and temporally connected. It's a quirk of our heredity and of being twins"
"This is news to me"
"Huh. I wonder why mom and dad never told you, then?"
"Hey, when are we, anyway?"
"We're in 2005, right now"
"'05? If it's that early old 'ma and 'pa must be in for a rude awakening when they see their little girl"
Marcus's face went pale. "No! You can't tell them anything!", he yelped.
Olivia looked confused. "Why not?", she asked.
"Do you want to undo your own your own birth, huh?
"Our appearance here split the timeline, you fucking idiot, we can't change anything because every single possibility already exists. They stopped being our real parents the millisecond we arrived here"
"What? How could you possibly know that?"
"It's well documented, pick up any spellbook with temporal magic and it's in the footnotes. Christ, I'm barely a novice. I thought you were the one who's good with magic?"
"We didn't time travel with magic"
"No reason to assume it works any differently. How did you get here anyway?"
"Some villain shot me with...something. Everything goes black and then I'm here"
"Hmm, there should be a way to get back home, using magic, then"
"How?"
"I'm not the sorcerer here. Surely our younger mother has plenty of reading material on that subject, or at least knows where to find it"
"I'm not super confident about that"
"Do you have any other options?"
Marcus sighed. "Not that I'm aware of", he said.
"Well", Olivia replied, "then you'd best get started. But I'm coming with you. I've always wanted to know what the old Titans were like in their formative years"
"Fine", Marcus sighed, "you can come along"
Olivia nodded and morphed into falcon, brushing past her brother at breakneck pace.
Olivia burst into the commons room and yelled "Feast your eyes!"
All the Titans were startled by this girl's sudden appearance. Initial surprise subsided and new surprise inauguration itself. This girl had a profound resemblance to the resident shapeshifter. In fact, if she weren't female, she'd almost appear as a carbon copy of her father.
There were differences, however. First was that her suit, though resembling her father's, had her arms, legs and midriff bare. It also had the bottom portion in the form of a stiff skirt.
Then there were the physical differences. She had pony tails, was slightly shorter than him and had...
The controller in Robin's hand was engulfed in a black aura and disintegrated. Raven's examination of the girl had brought her to two very distinct features. First, her amethyst-colored eyes. Second, her forehead-embedded gemstone.
Raven had quickly discerned what these things must mean, and judging by the expressions on the faces of the remainder of the team, they had too.
While logical deduction did its work before the new girl continued in speech, her opening words only confirmed the theory.
She radiated smug self-confidence throughout the room and said "I'm sure you acquainted with my brother."
Raven needed to go. Now. And so she hurried down to her room to process these goings-on.
The rest of the titans were still frozen in shock and completely speechless. Olivia walked up to the couch and threw herself over it. She looked over to her future father with a huge grin. "Dad", she remarked.
