Cannonball is a volvidon and Tumbleweed's pet. He has red and black skin and red eyes.
While in the Monster Hunter universe, the team comes across a fighting arena created by hunters. They infiltrate the arena by putting their own rescued beasts into the fights. They all only pretend to fight each other to give the others time to rescue the trapped beasts. Tumbleweed rescues Cannonball and he's grateful.
Cannonball is shown to have a strong bond with his rider, and is caring and protective of Tumbleweed, though sometimes he's willing to connect with others whom he trusts, like Saber and Bear, and let them ride him. In this sense. He has shown to be loyal to save his rider in time from a fallen boulder and obeys his commands without hesitation.
He is capable of spitting out a paralyzing liquid and inflicts a foul odor. Being a Fanged Beast, Cannonball pulls prey and foes toward his mouth using his long tongue. In addition to aiding transportation, his ability to roll up into a ball allows him to crush foes during combat.
Trivia:
Cannonball gets his name from him being able to roll into a ball and shoot himself at enemies.
He was mistaken as an armadillo by Tumbleweed.
