Chapter 3: Getting Ready

The next day was upon our group. The Sailor Senshi started their training the day before and would be doing the same. Vegeta had always trained, only Trunks has joined him. Android 18 and Krillin decided to get some early morning training in before one of them took Marron to preschool while the other helped Chi-chi open the butcher shop.

Gohan and Goten were in their Gravity Room, the dial set to 200 G. Both were in their Super Saiyan forms as they did their pushups, having trained non-stop since 4 am. With Gohan gone from school for two weeks, he ramped up his normal training schedule in hopes to get himself and his brother in top shape. The two stopped their pushups after the number 250 and Goten all of the sudden charged at Gohan. The older brother, having seen the smallest of telegraphs from the corner of his eye, blocked the shot with his hand grabbing his brother's fist.

"Let me guess, Piccolo had you try a sneak attack," Gohan smirked.

Goten growled at his brother, confirming to the older brother that he was correct. The younger brother tried a kick, only for the teenager to deflect. Goten continued throwing kicks and punches while Gohan was content to play defense as he dodged several blows, blocked several more and parried the last kick before countering with a punch to the face. Little Goten went backwards before he landed on his feet. The force was enough to cause a little pain, but the little guy didn't have a broken jaw as he rubbed the sore spot. Gohan put just enough force behind it to show Goten that he couldn't just blindly rush into a fight.

"That hurt a little," Goten complained.

"Then I suggest you don't let your guard down. Besides, when I was your age I got hit a lot harder during training," Gohan said.

Their sparring session was cut short by the 6:45 alarm. That was the normal breakfast alarm that Gohan had set for when it was time to eat. The older brother powered down the unit and the two of them went back into their normal forms.

"After school and homework, you will join me in meditation and then we will be back here. I want you to try and train without being a Super Saiyan," Gohan said.

"But Gohan! Being Super is so much fun! Why!" Goten countered.

"Yes being a Super Saiyan is fun. However, getting stronger in your normal form also helps when you turn Super. Think of it as a multiplier," Gohan told him.

"Gohan..what's a multiplier?" Goten asked.

"Hmm, you know that when you turn Super, it's like having the strength of 50 Gotens max. Well the stronger you are, those 50 Gotens increase in strength by that much also," Gohan explained.

"And when you turn super, do you have the strength of 50 Gohans?" Goten said as he cocked his eyebrow.

"Yes I do. Therefore I train in my normal form a lot of the times. When I get stronger in base, I get much, much stronger as a Super Saiyan," Gohan replied.

"Oh, it actually makes sense...now I think we need to eat because I'm hungry," Goten said.

Gohan laughed as the two of them walked out of the Gravity Room to sample their mother's delicious cooking. Saiyans do love to eat after all.

Meanwhile at Capsule Corporation, the Briefs family were chowing down on their own food. Robotic maids put down course after course, only to be devoured by Vegeta and Trunks. Bulma ate her usual bit of breakfast before smiling at them. Watching those two eat reminded her so much of her late friend Goku. She would never tell Vegeta that of course as that would raise his ire to no end.

Vegeta stopped eating for a second and looked over at Trunks. The eight year old froze as he locked eyes with his father. The Saiyan Prince took this time to speak what was on his mind.

"You remember what I said this morning during training?" Vegeta asked.

"Ohh...well was it something to do with...training in base form?" Trunks replied with his own question.

"Precisely. Now tell me what I told you," Vegeta commanded.

"Let's see...you said that Super Saiyan multiplied whatever strength you currently are at by 50. By training in normal form, your strength increases. Then you said something about becoming Super increasing the stronger power by 50 too." Trunks answered with an upper inflection, indicating his confusion.

"You see Trunks, you get stronger in base form. Then when you become a Super Saiyan, your strength will increase to a much higher degree than you ever thought possible. You will see what I mean the more training we do," Vegeta explained.

Trunks nodded and the two of them continued feasting. Bulma figured out almost instantly what Vegeta was trying to convey to Trunks. Such a thing was easy for a math wizard like herself to figure out after all.

After a few moments, Trunks was getting ready for school in his little school uniform. The boy was going to the most prestigious school in Kyoto after all. Bulma handed the little boy his capsules for his lunch.

"You become a good boy for those teachers over at Nippon Elementary," Bulma ordered.

Trunks nodded and put on his backpack. The boy then went out and made his way to the elementary school. Vegeta stood far away and watched. The saiyan merely had a stray thought about school being a waste of time before silently walked away to his gravity chamber to train.

Gohan continued his training as small, metallic, round droids spread out all around his gravity chamber. The machine then turns the gravity up to 350 G and Gohan somewhat feels the force on his body. Darting around the room with deftness despite the gravity, the teenager presses the shut down buttons on the droids. The young man repeated the process, with the droids shooting lasers at him for added difficulty.

Gohan was doing pushups on his fists as his next exercise. The excess gravity was doing its job as the saiyan pushed up off of the floor. The boy was doing his sit ups next as he threw punches at the end. The boy went into shadow boxing as he worked on his striking and the fluidity of his striking combinations.

After several hours of him doing various exercises, Gohan heard a knock on the door. With a simple command the gravity chamber shut down, and the door opened. Goten was on the other side, smiling at his brother as he tossed Gohan a bottled water. The elder brother caught the bottle and popped it open. The young man took a good drink of that cold liquid and wiped the sweat off his brow.

"Goten, have you finished your homework?" Gohan questioned.

The little saiyan nodded in response.

"Good, we will go and have our session. We can check the progress of the senshi at the lookout before we pick a spot to meditate. Do you have an idea what image training is?" Gohan said.

"No Gohan, I really don't," Goten replied.

"Ok then Goten, I can show you when we arrive at Dende's Lookout," Gohan replied.

The two brothers then took this moment to head to the roof. Gohan and Goten took the stairs and bypassed the shop to the roof. The brothers Son took off toward the lookout.

The senshi were going through their katas, having somewhat of an easier time with the heavy gi's on their bodies. The smooth motions, which helped with the warm up, gave a good burn to the senshi's muscles.

Training ramped up when Piccolo had them go through the shadow boxing drill. The five girls threw straight punches and front kicks. The five shouts, or Kiais, actually sounded like music to the ears of the warrior namekian. Piccolo continued to watch the practice unfold and looked over toward Usagi in particular.

'I can't believe she's taking this so seriously,' Piccolo thought to himself.

Gohan and Goten arrived on the scene as this was happening. The two landed and Goten was about to walk up the group. Gohan however stopped his little brother with a clearing of his throat. The older brother shook his head no at the little one.

"Let them be for now," Gohan ordered.

Goten silently stepped one step back and the two brothers watched the senshi go through their drills. After around 30 minutes, Piccolo ordered the girls to go into their meditation drill. The five senshi sat Indian Style and put their hands in the cup position. Gohan motioned Goten to follow him and joined the girls in their meditation session.

"Looks like you two decided to help. You really should be training for the tournament," Piccolo ordered.

"I did that all morning and most of the afternoon. Goten had to go to school. Besides, I thought I would help you teach them some like I am supposed to," Gohan replied.

"Fine...just get back into it after this is over," Piccolo returned.

Gohan nodded and the two saiyans meditated. Their hands were in the same position as their senshi allies. Small golden lights appeared in both saiyan's hands.

"You see senshi, this is what you are striving for," Piccolo said as the girls looked at those soft, golden lights for the moment.

After a few minutes, Rei duplicated her result from a day ago. Around 20 minutes later, Makoto created a small, electric ball in her hands. A few seconds later, Minako had a golden light appear in her hands. Ami struggled and managed a small, blue light. The spark fizzled out as quickly as it came, causing Piccolo to huff a little.

"Your trying to hard Ami, relax and let it flow," Piccolo urged.

Ami took a deep breath and relaxed her muscles. The small, light blue light appeared in her hands again, only this time a small vapor of mist shot out of the ball. Whoever was near Mercury could have sworn that the temperature lowered around her as the blue light shown.

Usagi could get no results at all. Gohan watched out of the corner of his eye as he maintained his light. The saiyan teen couldn't help but notice Piccolo's leer toward the girl and turned his body around while maintaining his yoga style pose. The boy went onto both knees as he placed his hands on hers, causing her to smile at him.

"You can do this Usako, just relax and let it flow," Gohan told his girlfriend, "take a deep breath and do as Ami did."

"Gochan I.." Usagi tried to reply.

"Usako...just trust me and...relax," Gohan simply said.

Usagi nodded and took a deep breath. The girl felt her own energy flowing as she relaxed her mind and muscles. Gohan let go of her hands and smiled as a silver light appeared in her hands. The saiyan couldn't help but feel the warmth of her spirit as the little silver light continued to shine.

Piccolo was flabbergasted. The namek thought he would have to shout at Usagi to get her going. Pride in his former student was felt as he watched the scene unfold.

'It seems he has a way to getting through to her that no one else has. Still he can't be here all the time. Well at least he's getting some meditation time in alongside them,' Piccolo thought as he watched the girls maintain their lights in their hands. After a few moments, all the lights went out as they felt their energy go down.

"Girls, take a breather and then try again," Piccolo ordered.

Gohan and Goten were meditating away from the girls for the moment. The two of them went into a colorless version of the lookout with their minds, a form of both saiyans manifested on the landscape. No girls, no guardian and no Piccolo were there as the two went into sparring position.

Both saiyans fought each other, sonic booms coming out as they clashed. The two seemingly zoomed in and out of vision as they fought all around the lookout. After a few moments, Goten was on the ground with Gohan floating over him. The two snapped out of their mental battle, with Goten glaring at his brother.

"Wanna go again," Gohan taunted.

Goten nodded and the two went back into their mental battle.

While Gohan and Goten were meditating with the girls, Vegeta took a rare break from his gravity room training. The gruff saiyan took a good drink out of his rather large capsule corp water jug and let his muscles rest for at least a while. Looking into the small window of the Gravity Room door, he watched his son get acclimated with the advanced gravity at 200 G. The small boy was managing with shadow boxing in his base form.

The saiyan drank his water as he watched his son. Though outwardly the man wouldn't admit it, he was proud of how strong his progeny was at his current age of seven. The saiyan knew he wasn't near the boy's level despite conquering whole planets during that stage of his life.

The training went on for about 45 minutes. Vegeta then opened the door, which automatically stopped the artificial gravity for the moment. The man then closed the door, which reactivated the conditions in which father and son trained. The saiyan then decided to power up to Super Saiyan.

"Trunks, turn into a Super Saiyan," Vegeta ordered.

Trunks nodded and did as he was told.

"Now Trunks, you said something about wanting to go to the amusement park," Vegeta said.

"Yeah Dad, I want to go to Mr. Satan Fun Land," Trunks replied.

Vegeta cringed at the parks name. However, he did come to his original thought after about a couple of seconds.

"I'll tell you what Son. If you land a single hit on me...I will take you to that little fun park," Vegeta stated.

Trunks beamed but then recompose himself and went into his stance. Vegeta also went into his stance and motioned at Trunks to attack him. The seven year old lunged at his father and began throwing his punches and kicks. Vegeta switched between parrying the boy's attacks and dodging, not breaking a sweat. The prince then landed a shot that knocked Trunks on his butt.

"Owie!" Trunks exclaimed.

"Come on son, you can do a hell of a lot better than that!" Vegeta taunted.

Trunks growled and renewed his assault, unknowingly putting more energy into his attacks due to his father rising the lavender hair one's ire a little. The little boy started backing his father up more and more.

Vegeta noticed that though Trunks was coming with ferocity, it was coming at a certain cost. That cost was defense and the Saiyan Prince made sure he paid for it with another punch. The strike landed on the jaw and Trunks was once again on his backside. However, Trunks immediately sprang to his feet and flew back at Vegeta, causing the man a feeling of surprise.

Vegeta was truly on the back foot this time as he had a harder time blocking the boy's shots. Then a punched caught Vegeta on a part of his cheek. Trunks felt elation that he was finally able to hit his father.

Vegeta noticed this and returned the shot at Trunks, harder than the two punches before. Trunks hit the ground with a thud. All stood still as Vegeta thought he had knocked his son out. Two seconds later, Trunks stirred and rose to his feet. A small trickle of blood and a noticeable bruise on his left cheek were evidence of Vegeta's strike.

"You left yourself open boy. That is a mistake that can get you killed, or at least knocked out," Vegeta told him.

"Yeah but I hit you dad...that means we can go to the park," Trunks smirked.

Vegeta couldn't help but huff back at the boy with his own little wry smile. Trunks is the son of the cocky Prince Vegeta after all. The two continued training, not caring about the time at all.

Chi-chi, Krillin and the staff were closing up shop. The staff were doing their nightly cleaning to make sure that the shop was spotless. Having an android like 18 help with that task did tend to speed the task up from several hours to around one hour at most. After cleanup was over, 18 and Krillin left for their apartment up the stairs.

Waiting for them was little Marron and her babysitter. The brunette girl with short hair and a ponytail gave a report on how well behaved Marron was that day before receiving her pay and having her leave. Krillin walked up to his little girl and petted her on the head, to which she giggled. 18 went beside her husband and the little girl was picked up by her mother.

Krillin and 18 sat down for their family meal along with the little girl. Though 18 didn't really need to eat to live, she felt as though having a meal with her husband and kid was as close to normal as she would ever get in life. The family were busy eating their meal and making small talk when the cyborg posed a question to her human husband.

"How come you aren't entering the tournament with me?" 18 simply asked.

"Well...we do have this shop to run and I did stop fighting many years ago. That's why I have hair now to signify that. Chi-chi could probably run the shop without us, but it might not be as smooth as if we were there," Krillin told his wife.

"I know, it's just that if there were two of us in that tournament it would be a better chance at some of the prize money," Android 18 replied.

"I get it honey. I don't know how good I will do with Piccolo, Gohan, Vegeta and well...Goku in the tournament. I haven't trained as hard as either of them in these six years," Krillin said.

"But you did train some..at least until we got this shop. Besides I can whip you into shape!" 18 exclaimed to her husband.

"Heh, heh, I know you can," Krillin said with a smirk, "but I guess we would have to go back to Roshi's for a couple of weeks."

"Damn….I almost forgot about him," 18 replied as if she didn't want to think about the old master.

Krillin thought about the prospect of him entering the tournament. Feeling somewhat nostalgic about his days as a fighter, part of him wanted to know if he still had the skills to do battle once more.

After around 15 minutes, the fighter made up his mind.

"I'll enter the tournament. That shop can go without me for two weeks," Krillin said.

"Well, well, I'll ask Chi-chi after we finish dinner," 18 said.

The family finished their dinner and cleaned up the table. After the dishes were washed, 18 went over to their neighboring apartment and knocked on the door. The entryway opened and it was Gohan who answered.

"Hey Kid, training going well?" 18 asked.

"Yeah 18, I'm getting myself as sharp as I can get," Gohan replied.

"Good, is your mother around. I need to speak to her about something," 18 said.

"Ok come in I guess," Gohan said as he let the Android into the home.

18 went up to Chi-chi and the two women greeted each other. The Son Family had finished cleaning up and some of the dishes were done. Gohan went over and him and Goten took the chore as both women sat at the table.

"Chi-chi, I have a favor to ask," 18 told her.

The Son Matriarch nodded, as if to give her undivided attention.

"Can you let us have a bit of a break from the shop? Krillin and I want to enter the tournament. We will go double time at the shop if we have to afterwards, and with Gohan and Goten entering you are probably going to close up shop on that day anyway," 18 pointed out.

"Hmm...I don't know. Krillin is my best butcher and you are really good with the grinder. I do really good with the butchering when I have to. Then again I could get Gohan to help more, but that would cut into his training. I can't really tell you two what to do since he's my partner and not my employee. Takeshi and Kenji are taking really well to Krillin's training.

Well I guess I could give them more responsibility for a little bit and help more with the production. Ok then, you got it 18," Chi-chi said.

"Why thank you Chi-chi," 18 said surprised.

The two women continued their chatter while the two boys finished the dishes up. After drying the last dish, both sons excused themselves to their shared bedroom for the night.

Gohan and Goten went toward their beds. The elder brother Gohan took this time to pull out a small box and open the container. Four stones were dull for a second before lighting up and leaving the box. The stones floated in the air and began to take human form. Four familiar faces greeted Gohan with a bow, since the elder saiyan was the reincarnation of their prince after all.

Goten looked up in awe of the shiny display. Kunzite even took it upon himself to try to ruffle the boy's hair, but him being a spirit made that impossible. Both brothers locked eyes with the former Dark Kingdom generals and one began to speak up.

"Something is troubling you, your highness," spoke Jadeite.

"Well yes Jadeite. I just wish I could find that wizard and end the threat. Clever bastard veiled himself from even the Kaioshin, his magic must be formidable," Gohan said.

"Can't Sailor Moon beat dark magic stuff thought," interjected Goten.

Gohan couldn't help but grin at that statement. The faith of a child was something he remembered having about his and Goten's father. The Shittentou noticed the small change in their charge.

"I believe his young highness is right," added Nephrite.

"Sailor Moon could be quite the asset, your grace," Zoicite interjected.

"Have faith my lord. The tournament coming up will be the bait for that strange creature. Or he could look as human as you and I. Either way, your abilities and hers will defeat this..Babidi your highness," Kunzite said.

"Hmm...perhaps all of you are right," Gohan said.

"And besides, if he reveals himself on this planet, you can locate him instantly," Zoicite said.

"What do you mean?" Gohan asked, genuinely curious.

"Prince Endymion can locate anyone on this planet he chooses. Why not try it my lord and see if such a power applies to you?" Jadeite said.

Gohan went outside with Goten and the Shittentou not far behind. The saiyan went into an alleyway and faced his former generals from his previous life.

"Now Prince Gohan, kneel down onto the ground and place a hand onto the Earth," instructed Kunzite.

Gohan did so.

"Now close your eyes and search for Sailor Moon," Kunzite added.

Gohan closed his eyes and felt for her energy through the earth. He found it after a few moments, her energy moving about in wherever she was at the moment.

"Where is she, your highness," Kunzite asked.

"She's at her house in Minato Ward. She's probably getting ready for bed," Gohan said.

"Good, now try a target further out," Kunzite said.

Gohan extended his senses and found two familiar energy signatures and smiled. He felt the signature of an old man and a young teenage redhead he met when him and the redhead were both children. The teen wondered about those two recently while he was cooling down from his training for the day.

"It seems Mr. Lao and my old friend Lime are doing ok in Chatze Village," Gohan pointed out.

"Who's Lime?" Goten asked.

"Well Goten, I met her after Dad and I left the Room of Spirit and Time. Mom had me go out for supplies and I just happened to see her fall into a river. I couldn't let the current take her so I dove in and saved her from drowning. She was rather angry for some reason after I did that, I could never figure out why," Gohan said to the Shittentou and his little brother.

"What happened after that, your highness?" Nephrite inquired.

"I was getting supplies when some crooks tried to rob her grandfather's store. The old man asked me not to interfere before I learned that those crooks were gathering supplies for a large shelter from Cell. No shelter could ever keep Cell away from whatever he wanted, he was too powerful. The locals and most of the world could never fathom the depths of his strength.

The crooks leave after Lime screamed that Cell was there. Later on Lime and I went to it's grand opening and well...she exposed the village mayor for what he truly was. She screamed that Cell was here and he ran into the shelter, closing everyone out. The crooks found out it was her telling a fib and Mr. Bourbon ran his crooked butt out of the shelter. Him and I had an argument about his selfish behavior. I even asked him if he left out his mother. Anyway, Mr. Lao came on the scene and beat the crooks.

Then Mr. Bourbon sent a mercenary named Tao after the old man. The two fight, but Tao incapacitated the old man and was about to finish them off. One of his metal hands drop and he fired a beam that could've killed the old man. I stood in front and pretty much tanked the beam. The assassin was about to attack me, but asked my name. I told him my name and after a moment told him I was Goku's son. That man kicked a tree down and threw it into the air. It looked like he was surfing on the tree as he fled the scene through the air," Gohan said.

"Well that was a nice story, your highness," Kunzite said.

"I didn't tell you the best part. The people were mad at him and wanted the money they gave him back for the shelter. That crooked man begged me to control the crowd somehow, the nerve of him. Well I decided to throw a blast and destroy the shelter. Now I know you think that such a thing might've not been nice, but I was able to convince them what I did was the right thing. Cell could've just blown it up the same as me, but with everyone inside because of his evil nature. Dad came and got me, and we went back home with that little bag of groceries," Gohan ended the story.

"Wow, some people can be real jerks," Goten said.

"Yeah..but teaching those jerks a lesson makes some of them not do bad stuff again. Now Goten, I believe it is time for bed," Gohan said.

The saiyans said farewell to the spirits as they went back into their stones. Gohan closed the box and went back inside. The two sons of Goku then decided to lay down their heads for sleep in their perspective beds, looking forward to what tomorrow will bring.

A/N: Another one down. This story is coming together and I hope to keep it short. I will try to update whenever I can, though I'm going to do my best to make the chapters as good as I can make them.
