Abyss is an abyssal lagiacrus and Katana's pet. She has blue and black skin and amber eyes.
While in the Monster Hunter universe, the team comes across a fighting arena created by hunters. They infiltrate the arena by putting their own rescued beasts into the fights. They all only pretend to fight each other to give the others time to rescue the trapped beasts. Katana rescues Abyss and she's grateful.
Abyss is an intelligent dragon, and seems to have a dry sense of humor, similar to that of her master. When Katana released her, she did not kill the cat, as it is possible that she sensed goodness in her, or that she was simply repaying the favor by leaving her alive. She was still very wary and would not let Katana near her at first. However, she was quick to relent to Katana touching her nose after the cat bows respectfully to her. Abyss is also a proud and calm dragon and always keeps herself clean.
She appears to always be in a fully charged state, with all of her spikes constantly glowing at maximum power. She can fire electrical blasts from her mouth that send pulses of electricity everywhere. Abyss is unique among her brethren in that it is known to use the motions of her serpentine body to create underwater whirlpools that can disorient enemies and set them up for a devastating blow.
