Misfortune, the lack of luck or, rather its deprivation.

The notion of that anything can go wrong given sureness. The maybe of horrible developments becoming an undeniable fact. Yet, Misfortune so precise and absolute has to have a weakness. In some timelines, the match-up with someone harnessing the infinity within pure nothingness easily see defeat for the bearer of such a monumental power. There are even those clashes were those Over Heaven are able to outright erase the manifestation of such a bad omen.

But this current situation was, in the eyes of 「Wonder of U」, truly an infuriating circumstance.

He will always be there, endless and ever-watching. An eternal force that, albeit not invincible, still able to muster through to assert his will into reality for lengthy periods of time. In some cases, he could even reach its finality with the end of the universe, or maybe go beyond that depending on how the end came and then was followed with creation anew.

In this particular circumstance, the world was still intact. He was still alive, and yet his ability had to be muzzled out of self-preservation. There are things that 「Wonder of U」 could not understand or, reasonably so, predict. Such as the clever use of magic, technology, proxy targets and, ultimately, the awareness of his own weakness in this world.

The Stand, after all, required an User. Even one that was blissfully unaware of this sort of powers.

In this world, his User was someone that was meek and irrelevant. A mere human with no true presence within the forces of Gravity, Heaven, or even Reality. A perfect host for a most neutral 「Wonder of U」 to act from without ever being caught.

So...

How was he caught if that was the case?

Actually, how come his host was recognized without any telling sign of his existence? The answer to this question eluded him. What he knew was that his new 'boss' had purposely found a 'blind spot' to act upon, kidnapping his user and setting up a special soul-binding spell that rendered his life dependent on his host's survival and viceversa. The moment his power acted against the malicious scientist, 「Wonder of U」's existence would be put in jeopardy.

This didn't please the Stand at all. He was the purest representation of chaos within luck, for him to be bound by a mongrel whose mind was neatly tied to logical evil felt like an abhorrent punishment. And one that he wasn't willing to fully concede too.

Still, a direct betrayal was unfeasible. Even as his hands were far from tied completely, his goal was now shifted to accept the plans of his new 'owner' and plot the demise of someone that 'stole from him the purest flower of them all'. The name was familiar, someone that 「Wonder of U」 had noticed from afar, but one that didn't represent a threat.

A balancing unit in the side of good that brought some peace within the relatively negative turn of this universe.

Still, this Arthur Endswell lacked the means and tools to outpace 「Wonder of U」. It was fair to say no one in this realm of existence truly didn't. Not even 'God' as he had proved through the disappearance of the Saint's Corpse from this dimension to limit the chances of perishing.

So, what was the plan here? After all, the Stand refused to be turned into a puppet and tool of a megalomaniac. And the current paths to rebellion in this universe were limited. And that's where 「Wonder of U」's secret ability came handy. It was true that Misfortune was powerful and went beyond the limitations imposed by dimensions, but there was more to it.

The Hivemind ability was not one that many were aware about, after all.

Each universe had its own 「Wonder of U」. Misfortune had to exist always, and it had to rule in favor of the side that was most logical to abide to. This universe's 「Wonder of U」 was bound by neutrality- he may have let Mega City fall together with its heroes, but it had spared the world much worse by actually preventing its unnatural reset.

That being said, 「Wonder of U」 could not just ask the help of a random 「Wonder of U」. The choice had to be for someone that was aware of similar situations, willing to help and, possibly, of a Good Alignment. Bad Luck was indeed masterless in many occasions, but it was the purity of their different missions of balance that rendered these interventions necessary.

And thus, as he listened to the deformed scientist speaking to him about his plans to destroy his ultimate foe with a meticulous plans, something else unfolded with another 「Wonder of U」 that was listening to this sick ordeal.

An agreement, as the plotting finished, was then struck between Stands.

In an universe similar to this one but set years from the current present, a truck bearing the 'Speedwagon Foundation' rushed through the street of Mega City.

Its driver proved to be careless in keeping tracks of the holes in the road, yet sure that by fact that the precious cargo within it was strapped neatly to not have any rational chance to fall off. The container reinforced to not allow any potential slip-up to manifest. The importance of such a cargo made the big check he got from his boss worthy the extra caution.

Unlucky for him, as misfortune manifested, a bone slipped out of its restraints and somehow shifted out of the container. Soon, the rattling of the truck due to the holes on the ground led it closer and closer to its doors and- soon it fell out and onto the cold asphalt of a fairly normal district in town.

Peace was brief even then, as a dumb-looking dog bolted to retrieve the juicy looking bone, pausing mid-bite as he realized that it was too hardened and too stinky to be eaten. Instead, he returned it to its owner, hoping that this could entice a much-needed game of fetch.

And as the piece was brought before the player, the inner guardian spirit hummed in amusement as the silence of centuries was going to an end for some bizarre reason.

'Yes, I think this boy will be the best boss ever-cha!'
