Controlled Chaos Forger of Worlds

Chapter 2

Harry and Gaia stood in a white sphere a short distance away from the core of the earth.

Gaia floated there, her hands clasped around the world seed as blue-green energy shone between her fingers.

After two days, they opened their eyes, and Harry stared at a changed Gaia.

Gone was her burned skin and brittle black hair. In its place was a luscious, curvy mane of Brown hair and smooth, healthy skin. Her robes were still tattered and hung off a skeletal frame. The stones floating around her waist still crumbled, but some of her vitality had returned.

Harry glanced at the core of the earth. To his sight, the cauldron of creation glowed within the core, "I think the cauldron has absorbed all the radiation. Do you mind checking?"

Gaia closed her eyes, her brows pinching together as she expanded her senses. Slowly, a smile spread across her face, and she opened her eyes. "The radiation is gone from the soil, and your cauldron even took the radioactive waste stored from nuclear power plants."

"Good, it worked better than I expected."

A frown slipped onto Gaia's face, "There are those on Earth that draw power from nuclear forces; they will have sensed the change; they may come looking for us."

"Hopefully, by the time that happens, we will already be done." Raising his left hand, Harry lifted the bronze pyramid that was his runic forge into the air with the force of will. At the same time, the earth around the core began to shift, transforming into brown obelisks.

Beads of blue-white power danced along the obelisks, carving curved runes that flowed like water across their surfaces.

The runes flared to life, absorbing heat from the core. As each obelisk absorbed heat, their runes stabilized and released a pale glow. After the final obelisks stabilized, they shifted, taking up specific positions around the core.

Gaia started as the obelisk resonated with the earth. She stared at the obelisks as the light emitting from them changed to match the color of a natural element.

Orange for fire, white for wind, blue for water, green for earth, gold for life, and black for death.

"Those obelisks," Gaia began, "have just linked with the Ley lines coursing across the planet; why?"

The runic forge broke apart, pieces flew into the obelisk, while a core of condensed runes shot into the molten iron core of the earth and merged with the cauldron of creation.

"Because if we want to heal your world, it will take a massive spell. It's going to have to happen all at once. Hopefully, we can use the Ley lines as a power source and a conduit for the change."

"Release the world seed, please."

Gaia opened her hand, and the world seed flew toward the earth's core. As it drew closer, the ball of molten iron split, revealing a stone pedestal. The world seed settled atop the pedestal and shifted to form a simulacrum of the earth.

Harry gestured to Gaia, "Come, it's time to heal your world."

They entered the core together, and the molten metal closed behind them.

They just floated there for a moment, and Gaia marveled at the fact they were in the earth's core, but no heat was consuming them. Only darkness and the simulacrum's pale blue, green, and golden-brown light existed.

"If my preparations are right," Harry gestured to the pedestal. "From here, you should be able to shape the world as you see fit."

"Not that I'm not grateful, but isn't it dangerous to create something like this? What if someone else found this place?"

"Two things," Harry held up two fingers. "One, the world seed is attuned to your energy, making it so only you can use it, and two, this room will collapse, and we will be pushed to the surface once your changes are done, so think about it carefully; you only get one shot. After this, to introduce anything into the earth, you will have to absorb it yourself."

Gaia grabbed his free hand, "Even if I have to shape the world, you're coming with me."

"That's fine; I can finish my work while you do yours."

Taking a deep breath, Gaia let it out and placed her hand on the orb.

Both tensed as their minds were pulled elsewhere.

Harry and Gaia stood in a gray void, a wireframe representation of the earth, floated before the duo made out of the planet Ley lines.

Smoke billowed around their feet, and vein-like growths glowed, stretching across the plane as far as the eye could see.

As they watched, the surface of the image began to shimmer, and buildings appeared worldwide, showing them the structures that existed, hidden or otherwise, on the planet.

Gaia's eyes flickered as she stared at the orb, knowledge flowing into her mind. As the knowledge settled, she slowly turned to Harry, "What do I do now?"

"I advise claiming everything on the planet and allowing it to be turned into energy. Even those," Harry pointed to the sphere, and Gaia turned, her eyes landing on the many graveyards and buried bodies spread across the planet.

"I would change the rules of this world where when something dies, it is absorbed into the earth and converted into energy to speed up the growth of plants, heal the planet, and regenerate resources."

Turning to the sphere, she placed her fingers together in thought. 'That did seem a good idea, and it may prevent her world from becoming like this again.'

With a thought, the bodies buried beneath the earth were banished in specks of light. Gaia watched the specs flow into the nearest Ley line and gasped as the tiniest amount of power rushed into her body.

She turned to Harry, "What was that?"

"You are intrinsically linked to this world; I have strengthened that connection. Now, you grow in power from the natural processes of nature and the lives living on this planet."

Gaia stared at him for a long moment, "Thank you," she whispered, returning to the sphere.

Another thought and every manufactured structure or item in the world burst into specks of energy. Gaia's hands curled into fists as energy poured into her body. At the same time, knowledge of elements, construction, and hidden alien technology flooded into her.

While Gaia worked, Harry closed his eyes and reached out to the presence he felt when he first entered the world. He stiffened as blazing white eyes blinked into existence in his mind and yanked his consciousness away.

"Harry!" Gaia screamed as he vanished.

XX –

Harry appeared in a large chamber. Uneven rock made up the walls, and stalactites hung from the ceiling.

Large chains of some black metal extended from the walls. Following them, Harry's eyes widened as he saw a metal giant standing before him. White eyes bored into him from a domed helmet.

As he stared into those eyes, pressure pushed down upon him. On instinct, his partially formed wings burst from his back, and blue-white energy shone off him like fire, pushing against the pressure.

"What are you?" An ancient voice resonating with power asked.

The pressure around him doubled at the sound of that voice, and the hard stone beneath Harry's feet cracked, echoing around the space like gunfire.

"I am a Celestin."

The giant's gaze shifted to the side in thought, the power in its eyes dimmed, and the pressure around Harry lessened, "Interesting, you feel like us, but different."

Its gaze shifted back to Harry, "Why did you reach out your mind?"

With a grunt, Harry pushed himself to his feet, his wings flapping behind him to help him rise, "There is a problem in this universe, and I thought you might be able to help. At first, I did not sense your power, just your age."

"What is this problem?"

"This universe has a hole in it and is leaking its energies into the void of the multiverse."

"And you think I can fix this?"

"Originally, I was going to ask for your help in enacting my plan to fix it, but after sensing your power, yes, I think you can fix it, Mr.?"

"You can call me Tiamut."

"What was your plan to fix this universe?"

"While helping Gaia repair the earth, I found a gateway into the multiverse hidden in the swamps of Louisiana. I hope that by moving the gateway to the hole in the universe and then connecting it to another, they can exchange energies, stabilizing this one and changing them both."

The giant stood there for a moment before finally reaching a hand toward Harry.

Harry backed away, "What are you doing?"

"I am a Celestial. We are researchers, creators, surveyors, and much more. Your idea intrigues me because it has never been done in the multiverse's history."

Harry's back hit the cavern wall, "So you're going to do it."

"No, you are," Tiamut replied. Before Harry could react, its finger extended and slammed into his chest, pinning him to the wall.

Harry's wings expanded from his back, shining like the sun as power flooded his body. His mind expanded, encompassing the entire planet. The rush of energy nearly caused him to lose focus until he heard Tiamut's voice.

"Remember to focus, or these energies could destroy the world."

Gritting his teeth, Harry forced his mind on the task at hand. Veins bulged out on his brow as he concentrated, moving his mind toward the nexus point.

Though his astral body was still in the cavern with Tiamut, and his corporeal form was still in the core with Gaia, his mind flew over the swamp land of Louisiana, through vine-covered trees, and over muddy bodies of water.

As he moved, he idly noticed that the land in his wake was disappearing in motes of light, leaving behind the wireframe of the Ley lines. 'Gaia must be planning to rebuild this world anew, but I wonder what she did with the people?'

Harry arrived at a small outcropping of land, ringed with trees. The branches of the trees had grown together to form a dome over the island that came to a rounded point. Branches and vines had grown together to form a covering that cast the interior of this natural structure in shadow.

Floating forward, Harry peered into what he would call a naturally made hut, but instead of seeing tree trunks and branches, he found what looked like fragmented mirrors showing glimpses into other worlds.

Floating back from the structure, Harry expanded his senses to cover it. Strings of multi-colored energy seemed to appear out of nowhere and connect to the space, creating a pattern that boggled Harry's mind.

"Part of me just wants to yank all the strings out and throw them into the tear, but knowing my luck, the pattern they create is important."

Slowly, Harry began floating around the structure, trying to memorize the pattern from all angles.

XX –

After Harry disappeared, Gaia used what she had decided to call the interface to find him, but while his body was still with her, his Spirit had been pulled elsewhere, and she couldn't sense it.

Though nervous that some unknown force had pulled away her benefactor, Gaia set about working again. She had the chance to save her world and would not waste it.

After consuming every corpse and man-made structure for energy, she began transforming the land into power to build the planet anew. As the ground disappeared in motes of light, she used her ever-growing power to place the surviving people of her world in cocoons of energy and move them closer to her location.

As what was once the polar ice caps disappeared, the now watery terrain transforming into motes of light, she paused, "Now that's something I haven't seen in a while."

She leaned forward, staring at the giant Ebony-colored metal figure now floating in the wireframe representation of the planet. Large sections of its armor were missing, revealing a skeleton that was a cross between bone and metal plant life.

This was the progenitor, a cosmic being that fell to earth and died. Its essence gave birth to a branch of humanity that outside forces could change.

Gaia stared at the Progenitor, an idea forming in her mind. Slowly, cautiously, she pushed forward the power of the core, focusing it on the exposed skeleton of the Progenitor.

Excitement filled her as the metal plantlike bones began to disperse into large basketball-sized specks of light that shone like suns. She gasped as the power flew into her, and her face flushed.

XX –

Tiamut turned in Gaia's direction, his white eyes shining brightly as he stared into the distance.

"Interesting."

XX –

Harry paused in his work with the next point as a massive power spike swam through the earth. He could sense that Gaia had just done something to change herself forever. After a moment, he returned to his task. Hopefully, whatever Gaia had done would make his job easier.

XX –

Gaia's back arched as she floated into the air. A moan burst past her red lips as power flooded her body, changing her very being. Her mind expanded, allowing her to peer at the other versions of herself throughout the cosmos. With this sight came the knowledge of their different lives. She learned new skills, and as she changed, her world began to reform around her.

Land bloomed from the core as energy was converted into matter. Grass grew over the ground, and trees shot up from the grass. Rivers carved their way through the earth as mountains took form.

Water twisted as the polar ice caps went from a liquid to a solid once more. Slowly, animals, long dead thanks to the radiation, reappeared with a pop of displaced air and a flash of light.

They may have been gone, but the earth remembered, especially after consuming their skeletons for energy.

Gaia stood in a field, tall grass swaying around her as she watched all this happen through closed eyes.

As the land returned in an untouched state, a frown slipped onto The Earth Mother's face, and her head tilted downward toward the people of her planet still in the energy cocoons near Earth's core.

Her people needed a place to live, but she did not want her planet to return to its previous state. Her head turned, and she opened her eyes to stare into the distance.

Now that her powers had expanded, she could sense Harry's consciousness.

Thinking about him made her pause; he had used magic mixed with technology to start healing the earth in his universe. Maybe he had some ideas.

With a step, she disappeared.

XX –

If Tiamat could have, he would've smiled when he felt Gaia move across the world toward Harry's location. Drawing back his finger, he released Harry's spirit. With a pulse of power, he sent his Spirit to merge back with his body and then with his mind.

"Let's see if their plan works."

XX –

Reality rippled as Gaia landed near Harry's location, and Harry appeared floating around a small island ringed with trees that had grown together to form a dome.

What looked like fragments of glass shone within the openings of the dome, giving glimpses into other realities.

Gaia looked around wildly as the power washed over her, "What was that?"

"That was Tiamut, a Golden Celestial hidden within a mountain range," Harry called from the island.

"Another one."

Harry looked at her, surprise in his Emerald eyes, "What do you mean?"

"Yeah, I found the corpse of one hidden in what was once and now is again the Arctic."

Stopping his floating around the island, Harry moved toward Gaia, taking in her and the world around him.

Fresh air filled his lungs, and he realized his spirit, mind, and body were one once more.

"You did it," he said, looking around at the trees with their vibrant green leaves in the grass growing up from the muddy ground, "you restored the earth." He held out an arm and allowed a Brown bird to land on it.

"Yes, absorbing that Celestial's corpse provided more than enough energy for me to restore my world and make the changes we discussed."

"So," Harry began, taking Gaia in.

The woman had changed since they first met. Her burns and blackened hair had been healed when Harry removed the radiation from the earth; she'd still looked emaciated.

Now, she looked almost entirely different.

She stood 7 feet tall, and muscle decorated her curves, straining her tanned skin. Luscious wavy Brown hair cascaded down her back in a wave of chocolate covering, and rich Brown eyes burned with power.

A white toga hugged her, accentuating her ample curves and sizable bust. It was accented in dark green and held together by black oval-shaped stones that floated around her waist.

Harry closed the distance between them, and the urge to take her in his arms and feel her curves against his body was almost overwhelming. He stopped a foot away, swallowing, "Well, someone looks better."

Gaia gave him a coy smile as she sauntered forward, "Thank you," she whispered, their noses almost touching.

They stood there for a moment just staring at each other, and as Harry was about to lean infrared kiss, Gaia spun around him.

"So, what are you doing?"

"Tease," Harry muttered, turning to face her, "that," he pointed to the cluster of trees, "is where the multiverse connects with your world. I hope to disconnect it from this spot and connect to the hole in your universe."

"Why?"

"I plan to use this connection and the hole in your universe to create a path to my universe."

Gaia's eyes narrowed, "What do you get out of this?"

Harry rubbed the back of his neck, "Your population is low, and I've got at least a million people that need a home. I would appreciate it if you would allow my people to live in your world and commute to mind to work."

Gaia's eyes went distant as she thought it over. From the memories of her sister, she had seen the changes Harry's people had begun to make to his earth. Her world was basically getting a fresh start; if she could implement those changes now, it would change everything.

Her eyes cleared as she focused on Harry again, "All right, but I have two conditions."

Harry's hand dropped to his side, "Those would be?"

"I want a vial of your super soldier formula to merge it with my world. This will make the people and animals more resilient as they eat the vegetation infused with your serum."

Harry nodded slowly. They had never tried introducing the formula this way, and he was curious about the prolonged effects. "That can be arranged; what else?"

"I want you to trade technology with me. I hope that by introducing your technology early, my people can advance it."

"I don't have a problem giving you access to the technology I developed, but you will have to speak with the Juru, the spark, and the Greenleaf to get theirs. On that note, some of my technology will have to be redesigned since your world no longer has the ingredients needed for it to work."

"You mean trash."

Harry's shoulder slumped, "Yes, I mean trash."

"What will you do when your planet runs out of trash."

"Living beings will always produce trash, but your world now converts that trash into energy for the planet at an unnatural rate. To answer your question, I would have the orbs take in air, convert it into hydrogen and helium, and then compress it. It most likely wouldn't produce as much energy as the current version, but this version wouldn't be used up once the energy was drained and could be constantly active."

"Will do that then. You have a failsafe in case your mini suns are broken, right?"

"Yes, the shell's interior is designed to convert the energy within into non-harmful material if ever broken."

Gaia clapped her hands together, "Glad we were able to come to an agreement. Now," a smile spread across her face, "What do we need to do to create that portal."

Harry turned back to the island, "That needs to be shaped into something we can move to another location," he turned back to Gaia, "If you would do that, I will work on connecting the universal tear to the gateway with the dimensional strings."

Gaia stepped forward with a look of consideration as she raised her hands.

'This will be the first time I moved a landmass from one place to another.'

As Gaia began her work, Harry leaped into the air, his wings exploding from his back as he transformed into a white bolt of energy that streaked through the sky, heading toward the vastness of space.
