Cotton is a paolumu and Klaww's pet. She has white fur, a pink face, and blue eyes.
While in the Monster Hunter universe, the team comes across a fighting arena created by hunters. They infiltrate the arena by putting their own rescued beasts into the fights. They all only pretend to fight each other to give the others time to rescue the trapped beasts. Klaww rescues Cotton and she's grateful.
Cotton seems to be quite intelligent as Klaww manages to teach her several signals and sounds, which Cotton follows adeptly. Cotton also manages to come to Klaww's aid when called, and Klaww can tell her what to do often with just a word. Cotton is very calm, gentle, docile, and a little humorous. She loves music and sometimes sways to a soft gentle tune. She can also be seen bouncing to the beat of a nice rock song.
Inside of Cotton's neck is a special air sac that inflates once she has sucked in enough air. Once her air sac has inflated, Cotton is able to float in the air like a balloon and able to attack foes from above. While floating, Cotton will use her hard tail to batter foes at close range. Cotton is also able to breathe wind at foes, she can also use her inhaling powers to draw in enemies closer or to make them stagger.

Cotton gets her name from her neck pouch looking like a cotton ball.
During her introduction, Klaww thought she was a marten.
