"What's your excuse with me then, eh darling?" She patted on his leg and Cal looked down at her, catching her face contracting in a rather unusual expression, one that he couldn't quite identify and, as it always happened when he couldn't read her at all, scared him a little bit.

"Cal," Gillian let out a long and loud sigh, conveying in it a strong mix of frustration, mild amusement and resignation. "The last time you went to a law enforcement conference on your own and ended up in the back of a Mexican police car." Cal and Gillian attend a forensic conference together: yes, not a very original scenario but you know me, I don't do predictable do I?

Cal trying to kiss Gillian. How would that happen? Various options. Callian. Romance, Drama.

Cal and Gillian cross paths at an academic conference in late 2003. "She had some innate ability to see the good hiding beneath his most ignoble actions, the good that he generally tried to conceal. There was something disconcerting about being seen through like that. But there was something about it he liked as well."

"I was just on the phone with Emily. No, nothing wrong, don't worry." Gillian added quickly, smiling at the way his whole body had already tensed. But then she looked away for a brief moment, somewhat unease as she had to go on. "She uh…she invited me to her birthday, this weekend?".
