The Abbey Girls series comprises perhaps 40 novels written between 1914 and 1959 by Elsie. J. Oxenham. The content of this novel is set after the last written, "Two Queens at the Abbey." All characters are those of Elsie J. Oxenham, with some crossover appearances by contemporaneous characters of Arthur Ransome, and allusion to characters of Dorita Fairlie Bruce.
